Quicksilver Bonus Scenes: Kingfisher's POV

Rate this book
Please listen to Quicksilver before going behind the scenes with Kingfisher! Or risk being flung into the middle of the battle.

Previously only available on Callie Hart's website, these scenes (written from Kingfisher's point of view rather than Saeris') are now brought to life in audio by popular demand. The scenes included are "The Gates (Parts 1 & 2)" and "The Fox. The Boots. The Dress."

Narrated in duet style.

Had I already read these chapters? Yes. Did I still buy the audiobook so Kingfisher could tell me the story personally? Also yes.

10/10 would let Kingfisher cuss me out again.

3.5 ⭐️

If you were mainly into Quicksilver for the romance, this shortie, split into three parts, probably won’t do much for you. I liked the battle scenes, though, so I had fun with it.

Parts one and two give us Kingfisher’s POV on what happened at the Ajun gate when he defeated what was thought to be the last dragon. We witness the heartbreaking loss of Ren’s twin sister during the battle and gain a deeper understanding of Kingfisher’s motives, along with the guilt and sense of responsibility he carries. I love the camaraderie between Fisher, Renfis and Lorreth, their constant bickering is always entertaining.

Part three: The fox. The boots. The dress. This section gives us a quick but welcome reunion with Carrion Swift and his smart mouth, along with Onyx the fox. It also sheds light on the significance of the dresses left out for Saeris.

Anthony Palmini and Stella Bloom are both excellent narrators, but his ability to give each character their own distinctive voice is impressive. This was a nice little bonus while I wait for the release of Brimstone in November.

Available on Audible. 🎧

How did I not know this little shortie is available?! Anthony Palmini as Kingfisher's voice could read me a menu for 2 hours and I would listen to it all. Hopefully this will make doing laundry a little more interesting.

In all honesty, it was fine. I read it for Brimstone context and chapter three with Onyx and Carrion was my favourite.

Anything to do with this world I love.
I think some of this should have been in the main story!
The part at the Ajun gate broke my heart.

If you've just finished Quicksilver and are about to read Brimstone DO NOT SKIP THIS!!
(The chapters are available for free on the author's website, or you can get the audiobook version for a few bucks on audible)

The Gate part 1, Before + The Gate part 2
The first two bonus scenes offer the background story about what happened at the Ajun gate 🥺 it was such a devastating story, and gives a lot of context about what happened to Kingfisher and the Lupo Proelia for them to turn into who they are in Quicksilver, including how his sword got the name of Nimerelle (which TRUST ME, you want to know about!!).

The fox. The boots. The dress
The third bonus scene is a glimpse into Kingfisher's POV of when Saeris, Onyx and Carrion first came to Cahlish.
We get to see more of sweet silly Archer (I adore that little fire sprite), discover some things about Fisher's parents, learn where all those random dresses came from, witness the whole "boots in exchange of a bath" situation with Carrion (IYKYK 😛), and finally find out how Fisher ACTUALLY FELT about Saeris (and Onyx) before anything ever happened.
It's both hilarious and endearing, with a splash of heartache 🥹❤️‍🩹

SIDE NOTE : there are two more bonus chapters out there, that were initially published in different physical editions but are not included in this (but that I strongly encourage you to read before moving on to Brimstone)

The Maze, which is Kingfisher's story when he was trapped in the maze and how he escaped it, is now included in the Quicksilver ebook. If you don't remember reading it, it's probably because like me, you read Quicksilver before it was updated. You simply need to redownload the ebook to have access to that bonus chapter.

Before, which is about how Carrion came to end up in Zilvaren (AS WELL AS WHERE HE GETS HIS NAME FROM), is only available in the Waterstone physical edition, but has been summarized online by numerous people.

That was a nice addition to the first book, I guess.

The first two parts show us what happened at the Ajun gates. There is action and the battle scenes are good, there is also some heartbreak, as no war is without deaths. It was nice to see the strong bond between Fisher, Lorreth and Ren, and their constant bickering.

The third part involves Carrion and Onyx, so it's hard not to like it.

Well this was too short!

This POV from Kingfisher mostly covers the Ajun Gate story that takes place prior to Quicksilver. It was so really great insights into the depth of Fisher—and parts of his past.

It ends with a quick POV from Quicksilver that explains the dress that was left out for Saeris.

There is no spice.
There are recounts of a battle, including death.

🎬 A Peek Behind the Kingfisher Curtain
Loved these behind-the-scenes previews into Kingfisher.
Admittedly, I’ve forgotten many details, but this was such a good push before jumping into Brimstone… especially since the word “Brimstone” is mentioned here like 15 times.

💁🏻‍♀️ Sir… Please.
When I started reading Quicksilver, for the first 20 chapters, I genuinely considered Kingfisher an A-hole.
Because he was behaving like one!
Hey! Don’t come at me! Read this chapter and you’ll see exactly why.
(Of course, you already know the reason from Quicksilver, but seeing it unfold again here is its own brand of fun.)

Pre-read:
I didn't have time for a reread.
Tho I do feel I remember most things, I will read a recap and listen to this before I start Brimstone tomorrow.
Let's hope this is enough🤞🏻

A quick extra from Kingfisher’s POV.

The first two sections tell the story of the Ajun Gate. I am a little torn. On the eve of Brimstone going into the past seems a little anticlimactic, but I think I’m just anxious to know what happens going forward. I adored Lorreth’s Ballad in Quicksilver, and experiencing the full story made me appreciate Kingfisher’s Lupo Proelia and their unwavering dedication to each other and saving innocent lives even more. I am also wondering if there is possibly some foreshadowing relating to dragons since Book 2 is called Brimstone? If there’s one thing I believe after reading Quicksilver twice, it’s that no detail is meaningless or wasted by Callie Hart.

Part three occurs during the events in Quicksilver. A quick tidbit about Kingfisher’s mental state and his guarded feelings toward Saeris early on. There are some interesting details that, again make me question some possible foreshadowing. Either way, I enjoyed being inside his mind and Anthony Palmini’s narration.

Holy Fisher!!! This little standalone took me right back to Yvelia. I love that we get the details for some of the events from Kingfisher. The narrator did an amazing job of course! I am truly so excited for Brimstone.

✨ Quicksilver Bonus Scenes
🎧 Audiobook Mini Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Was I just here to hear Kingfisher’s voice again? 1000% YES! I just needed my fix 😅
🎧🔥 These narrators nail it every time all the voices are done so well, – the humor, the accents, the timing, the way their voices actually match the characters’ age and vibe, Impeccable! Pure audio serotonin.
Can’t wait for book two, and I’ll be listening to that FOR SURE!

These bonus scenes have only been available on Callie Hart's website before, but are now on audio by popular demand.

First we get "The Gate" (Parts 1 & 2), which plays out before the events in Quicksilver. They give us more insight in Kingfisher's background and character. Then we get a chapter from Quicksilver from Kingfisher's POV: "The Fox. The Boots. The Dress.". Since I missed his point of view in the first book I enjoyed this. You don't need to read/listen to these bonus scenes before starting Brimstone, but I still thought it added something to the story. I mostly listened as a "refreshener" before my book club was going to discuss Quicksilver - and as preparation before reading Brimstone!

Spoilers for Quicksilver Ahead. I do think this adds to the story and is probably worth the read before heading into Brimstone (it’s free on her website).

It was nice to get the story of the Battle of Arjun Gate especially since the Quicksilver took what little we had of it “away.” It did give us quite a few little peaks at inner workings that were interesting: how his Lupo Proelia worked together and who the original members were before people were lost, how he got and named his sword Nimerelle, and how time flows in the god realm (and perhaps his first brush with Saerjs even though he didn’t know it at the time). The last chapter was also a fun insight into Kingfisher’s mind, especially with what he knows about Saeris. I love that you get to see how kind he is to Archer and how his family was always different from the other Fae. I also enjoyed the extra glimpse into Carrion and that hilarious bath.

this was essentially just a random few scenes from fisher's pov, so not necessary at ALL but gave some insight and was a good time nonetheless. it was also the first time we get in our man’s head so that’s worth it to ME <3

to note: these chapters needed editing and there was some inconsistencies, so yeah, nothing to write home about but interesting if you're a major fan of the series.

It was okay, I guess. It’s just annoying that I had to listen to the bonus chapters to fully understand everything in Brimstone—I would’ve preferred to skip them. Howeverrrr, Kingfisher’s voice was sexy as hell, so I’m glad I didn’t. And even though I already own the hardcover of Brimstone, I’m now seriously considering buying the audiobook too because it was that good. I think my husband is going to hate me for this 😂

Also, I forgot how amazing the banter was in Quicksilver 😭 I am SO excited to start Brimstone now. Please do not let me down Callie!
