Why, why the cliffhanger 🥺
The thing I loved the most in this book is the cliffhanger! It ended on such a strong note so thrilling yet so frustrating at the same time. The story became so intense and interesting towards the end that I couldn’t stop reading. OMG that cliffhanger i loved it 😍 but seriously, where’s the second part? 😭🥺
The story begins with Sumit, who lives in Pune and plans a trip with his 5-6 friends to his ancestral village, Konkan, where his grandfather lives. He always finds peace and comfort there compared to city life. As planned, they reach the village and spend some lovely time with his grandfather, enjoying the simple life away from the city hustle.
Later, in the middle of the night, Sumit suddenly wakes up and starts walking toward an old door that had been locked for almost 50–60 years. As he opens it, he feels like he’s being controlled by some unknown force like someone else is making him do it. Seeing this, his grandfather gets angry, while Sumit stands there confused, unaware of the story behind that mysterious door. That’s when his grandfather, left with no choice, begins to tell him an old story a story about the cursed village of Gufasare, its dark past, and the terrifying Demon’s Den.
The story follows a group of friends who find themselves in the eerie village of Gufasare, where no one seems to be awake everyone appears to be in a deep, unbreakable sleep. On the walls, strange words are written: “Don’t sleep, don’t stop, save yourself.” As they arrive in the village, they are forced to uncover its secrets when one of their friends falls into a coma like state shortly after they first reach the village. The group tries their best to help their friend, and in the process, they uncover shocking truths about a parallel world, demons, and the village’s dark curse.
The plot becomes darker, spookier, and more gripping with every page. The parallel world element makes the story even more intriguing. I especially loved how beautifully the bond between Sumit and his grandfather was portrayed. This book is a perfect read for the spooky month of October! 🎃📖

The story follows a simple man, Sumit who visits his grandfather during summer holidays. But less he knew this holiday is going to be the biggest plot twist of his life. It's obvious that his grandfather is hiding something but wouldn't tell until one night a mysterious force drives sumit to the basement and then the mystery starts to unfold.
The best thing about the book was grandfather's character. The way his character is so perfectly written makes the book more interesting. The author did a very good job here.
It's a short read but long enough to stay with you and grab your attention. It's a world of secrets, mystery, fear and spooky vibes. It's fast paced and the story setting is amazing. The bond between characters is beautiful and inspiring. The writing style is simple and elegant.
Each chapter will left you for wanting more. A perfect read for the spooky season. I was kind of going in a reading slump and this book saved me❤️

I devoured Devil’s Doom in one sitting and I’m still trying to shake off the chill it left behind. What begins as a warm,nostalgic tale of summer holidays in the serene Konkan region soon spirals into a web of supernatural mysteries, and haunting legends.
The author beautifully paints the idyllic coastal village its beaches, coconut trees, and quiet charm. before slowly peeling back the darkness hidden beneath. The pacing is brilliant, each chapter deepens the suspense until you’re completely trapped in its eerie spell.
The story follows Sumit, who visits his grandfather’s house for the holidays. His grandfather, deeply rooted in tradition, refuses to leave the village and from the very start, it’s clear he carries an ancient burden. But one night, around 3:30 a.m., Sumit is drawn by an unseen force toward the forbidden basement, locked for fifty years. What he finds there an old chest, faded letters, and his grandfather’s furious interruption sets in motion a chain of terrifying revelations.

The author sets the spooky mood really well. The strange village, handwritten warnings, sudden comas, disappearing people & an eerie parallel world give proper goosebump vibes. The tension grows slowly, just like those old school horror tales you’d hear from grandparents at night.
Beneath the horror and black magic, there’s a strong theme of friendship, trust and “no one gets left behind.” The bond between Sumit and his grandfather was honestly my favorite part, it added heart to the entire story.
The writing style is simple and easy to follow, which makes the mystery even more addictive. Every chapter ends in a way that forces you to continue reading. Honestly, this book has outdone itself!! And I just do not mean only with it's characters but also with it's plot and settings. The whole story revolves around a group of friends who are on the way to enjoy vacation in one of their friend's home in a beautiful remote village.
But their vacation takes a wild turn when the protagonist SUMIT is attracted to room in his grandpa's house, which he was told to stay away!! There is some force which is pulling him towards it and this time he listens to it and goes inside and picks the secret which was hidden!!
His grandfather is mad at him but it doesn't stop him from telling the horrific, dangerous and gut- wrenching story which was real, which took place and which the grandfather wanted to buryy!! The story grandpa tells is dark, twisted and filled with suspense.
If you are someone, who loves dark, dimension flows, twisted and horror thrillers, then trust me this is the book that you need to read and have it on your shelf!!
The fact that I was travelling in a CAR, while reading this just enhanced my experience as a reader!! (you will know why the car experience made it more real once you read this book)
As someone who loves thriller, this short book is just perfect and lemme tell you this book is less than 150 pages but good enough to keep you questioning everything.

Review:
🏞️The story begins with Sumit and his 4 frds going to visiting sumits grandfather who lives in Konkan for the vacation, on the way they see 2 girls stranded near there car so Sumit's frds speaks with their group and they decided to help them as they were travelling in the same place and direction.
🏡Once they reach the grandfathers place they have a hearty lunch and they went to beach to spend some time and after dinner all the 7 young people were interested in horror stories and asked grandpa to narrate them, later grandpa say everyone to go to sleep, when everyone went to bed. Sumit starts walking towards a door, which his grandpa has warned him not to open or go near the door, but he opened a door which has been locked for 40/50 years, he see's a chest in the room starts to read the inscriptions on it. That's when grandpa and house helps stop him to Sumit's utter shock he was didn't know what has happened around him.

🏞️The story begins with Sumit and his 4 frds going to visiting sumits grandfather who lives in Konkan for the vacation, on the way they see 2 girls stranded near there car so Sumit's frds speaks with their group and they decided to help them as they were travelling in the same place and direction.
🏡Once they reach the grandfathers place they have a hearty lunch and they went to beach to spend some time and after dinner all the 7 young people were interested in horror stories and asked grandpa to narrate them, later grandpa say everyone to go to sleep, when everyone went to bed. Sumit starts walking towards a door, which his grandpa has warned him not to open or go near the door, but he opened a door which has been locked for 40/50 years, he see's a chest in the room starts to read the inscriptions on it. That's when grandpa and house helps stop him to Sumit's utter shock he was didn't know what has happened around him.

Recently, I read Devil's Doom that literally gave me goosebumps. I have always been interested in horror and spooky stories, so this book caught my attention the moment I saw its cover. The cover itself gave full Hindi horror movie vibes, and I decided to read it at night to make the mood even more thrilling. The story is not only about horror but also about black magic, which made it more interesting. I have watched many movies based on black magic, but reading it in a story form felt completely new and exciting for me.
Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. The story keeps revealing secrets one after another. But it is not just about black magic, it is also about friendship, courage, and the strength to fight evil. Even with so much fear and darkness, Sadashiv and his friends tried to save people from the evil force.
The best part for me was when Avantika tells Sadashiv the full story of the demon’s den village and how she escaped from the trap of black magic. The combination of black magic and demons made the story even more exciting. The author has beautifully connected the past and present, making it easy for readers to follow and stay connected to the story.
Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it. The story keeps revealing secrets one after another. Devil's Doom by Sumeet Shinde is such an interesting and chilling read which will keep you on your edge right from the very first page. The story begins with Sumit and his friends visiting his grandfather's ancestral home for a peaceful vacation. But suddenly when Sumit stumbles upon a forbidden room in the middle of the night everything changes and dark secrets began to unravel.
The author also does great job of creating that eerie atmosphere where you can almost sense the danger and suspense hanging in the air.
I also loved how real the characters felt. Their fears, their doubts, and even their small moments of courage made the story come alive.
And the plot twists of this book was also completely unexpected I didn't see it coming at all. Just when I thought I had things figured out, something new would happen which would completely change my mind.
Overall this was a great book.The writing is simple yet powerful, and the pacing keeps you turning the pages, wanting to know what really lies behind the mystery of the village. After a long time, I am reading a horror story. Reading a horror story at night hits differently. I started this book at night, and during the first few chapters, I did not feel anything, so I continued to read. However, in the middle of the book, I felt fear, and at that time, everyone in my house was sleeping.
I really enjoyed reading this book. After a long time, I am reading a horror book, especially in an Indian setting. While reading, I felt like I was watching an old Indian horror movie where a young boy returns to his hometown with friends, and bad things start to happen, but this story had a twist. I really liked the turning point of the story and the twist of events, and this book takes you to the edge to know what happens next and how this is possible.
