To have and to hoax...

Wild child lingerie store owner Lucy Hamilton is a happily confirmed bachelorette. As far as she's concerned, men are something best enjoyed in small doses, never to be allowed too close. Then Lucy's mother tells her Aunt Bev that Lucy has eloped and is married—a tiny lie only meant to appease the dying woman...until Aunt Bev miraculously recovers. Now Lucy needs to find a "husband" for an upcoming family wedding, and fast.

Fortunately, Lucy's ridiculously hot, ridiculously straitlaced new accountant Dex Levian is willing to be her stand-in spouse for the weekend. And that's when the trouble really begins. For starters, Dex's "involvement" with a client―no matter how irresistible―might ruin a merger he hopes will make his career. Worse still, the chemistry between Dex and Lucy is more than convincing―it's sizzling. But for Lucy, falling for her fake new husband is the most dangerous thing she can do...

2 - She went for leather jackets, not leather briefcases. Stars.

Sadly this book really did not work for me, I loved the premise, but it was just a constant repetition of the same thing –

• You are not my type of guy.
• I have daddy issues.
• I’m not really interested in you, it’s just for show.
• You take too many risks.
• I’m not supposed to mix business with pleasure.

Add to that the fact that I found the chemistry between Lucy and Dex absolutely non-existent, and it made this book a bit of a slog to get through.

ARC generously provided by Entangled, I am sorry I cannot provide a more positive review on this occasion.

Lingerie store owner Lucy Hamilton has a few hard fast rules when it comes to men, enjoy them temporarily but anything more than that forget it. When Lucy finds out her mother told a little white lie while believing her Aunt was on her death bed, she can't believe it but finding out she told her Lucy is married is enough to make her blow a gasket. The Aunt is recovered and coming to a wedding expecting to meet her new husband. Now Lucy has to find a surrogate husband and the man that walks in her door is not only her accountant but the type of man she shy's away from.

Dex Levian is on the verge of merging his company with another firm. Dex has to be the perfect partner until his signature on the paper and volunteering to be Lucy's faux husband is not quite part of his plan. However the more he spends time with the stunning Lucy, the more he is questioning if he just happened to luck out and find the woman who is meant to be his side.

I loved Dex, "Lucy opened his jacket, then started on his shirt. "Actually I think the coffee seeped into my pants." The chemistry between these two is hot and they flirt so damn well:
She found him using napkins to blot the liquid from his shirt. After he did, he went to put it back on. "No, that's still wet and stained. God, I'm so sorry. I was just excited."
"I still am." He captured her stare and held it.
He is also a typical when it comes to boobs, "checking out the view of her deep cleavage, he inwardly sighed. All his blood headed south. "I have a picnic blanket in the trunk. We could find a spot in the woods." I enjoyed this book it was a good read.

The Surrogate Husband was a laugh out loud sweet romantic comedy. I loved the characters in this book. Dex was the perfect cross of sexy, sweet, reliable and fun. Lucy was fun, loving and colorful. The family as a whole were fun to read, but Auntie was a hoot. I love books like this for when you need a little light hearted romance whit a side of funny.

I really enjoyed this quick, fun read from Wynter Daniels. Lucy and Dex were such a great couple – they had off the charts chemistry and on the surface were total opposites. Lucy, the wild and crazy free-spirited one, who is a successful business owner…of a lingerie shop. Dex, the straight-laced CPA who has been focused on building his practice and is now in the midst of merger negotiations with a very conservative CPA firm. Both Lucy and Dex have issues from their past, and when fate…well, a tiny little lie by Lucy’s mom, have Lucy and Dex playing newlyweds for a weekend, well, let’s just say that things start to feel more real than fake.

I think my favorite part of the book was how Lucy kept uncovering more and more of the wild side that Dex kept under wraps in his professional life. Although he keeps thing neat and orderly in his professional life, Dex is more than happy to get down and dirty when it comes to the bedroom.
“You want to make out in public? Right out in the open?” She laughed and shook her head. “I had no idea you were such a rule breaker, Dex. What happened to the Boy Scout? You've got that Clark Kent vibe on your professional side. Maybe a little Superman under the hood, hmm?”

I just loved getting to meet all of Lucy’s family – Aunt Bev was a hoot, and Lucy’s mother kept me laughing. And I really hope that we get a few more stories from this bunch, starting with Lucy’s sister!

I've been a fan of Wynter Daniels for some time and she does not disappoint with this book!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I found this story to be totally irresistible. The large cast of characters are well developed as well as captivating with their own personalities.
Lucy Hamilton owns her own business thanks to her generous but aging Aunt Bev, who also would like to her married before she dies. ..Lucy however is a confirmed bachelorette after a failed engagement to a man who turned out to be a tyrant, similar to how her father was. It left her with some powerful scars emotionally.
Lucy has an accountant, who she has only dealt with over the phone & thru e-mail. then one day he walks his knock down gorgeous self into her shop and little does he know he is about to become embroiled in a ploy that Lucy's mother has come up with in order to cover up a tall tail she told to a dying Aunt Bev (who later recovered) and now Lucy has to show up for a family wedding with a husband!.......Dex, is so taken and drawn to Lucy upon meeting her that he agrees to play the part in spite of the clause that forbids any client involvement as part of his employment contract....after all they will be far away from any one he works with, Right?..WRONG!.....Anything that go wrong .....well, you know.....and it get even more complicated when their relationship gets steamy, and I mean to tell you it sizzles.....So, are they going to be forced to come clean? And what will happen to Dex? will he be fired?
This is truly one I recommend to readers 15+........

Lucy Hamilton is a young Lingerie Shop owner who finds herself in a bind because of her mother.

Aunt Bev was in the hospital on deaths door when Lucy's mom lets it slip that Lucy's had run off and gotten married.
Well much to everyone’s surprise Aunt Bev has mended well and is attending a family members wedding and can not wait to meet Lucy’s husband.

Now the search begins to find someone to fill in and play along.

Dex has only spoken to Lucy on the phone. He is her accountant.
One day he walks into the store while Lucy's mom is there and the wheels in her head start spinning.

Can Dex be the savior they need to pull of this ruse?
Can Lucy see Dex and not her ex or father?

Find out as you read this well written book that leads us on this comical journey. Romance is abundant and surprises pop up.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. I found it to be comical, Lucy is a very strong willed young woman and Dex well I think he has found his match in her despite their pasts.

What a wonderful story. Lucy needs to find a temporary fake husband for her cousins wedding. Her mother has told a favorite Aunt that Lucy is married when the Aunt was thought to be dying, but now she is coming to the wedding and Lucy needs a husband quick. In walks Dex, her accountant, he is complete opposite of what Lucy wants in a man or so she thinks. Their story has some laughs and tears but mostly fun and love. You need to read this to see what happens.

Lucy Hamilton owns a lingerie store, her business is doing great! She is opening up a second location, and she has a man for when she wants one for the night, things couldn’t get any better in her eyes. Then her mother walks into the shop with a little confession, while Lucy’s Aunt Bev was sick, she told her that Lucy has gotten married. Now that Aunt Bev is better, her mother has not confessed to Aunt Bev about the ruse. The bad news doesn’t even shop there! Aunt Bev is going to be attending an upcoming family wedding and cannot wait to meet Lucy’s husband.
Now that Lucy has to find a rent out a husband for the wedding, Lucy’s mom interjects and asks Lucy’s new accountant Dex Levian, who is beyond sexy! To Lucy’s surprise Dex agrees to help her out.
I loved how Dex and Lucy were polar opposites of each other! Dex was a clean cut business man who liked to keep things organized and in order. Whereas Lucy was a wild child who seeks out thrills and dressed a lot sexier than Dex is used to. I think in this case the saying “opposites attract” is certainly the case, there was an undeniable attraction between the two and they did a great job complimenting each other.

The Surrogate Husband by Wynter Daniels was totally funny, delightfully cute, and extremely entertaining! I think I had a goofy smile on my face the majority of the time that I read it. It was a fast-paced read with an insta-romance that worked. Lucy and Dex were opposites that fit together perfectly.

Lucy Hamilton is a sexy, unorthodox and savvy business woman and owns Lucy's Lingerie Shop. She doesn't want to get married because of a father who was nasty and very controlling to her, her sister and mother. Her mother finally divorced him and remarried. Her mother told their Aunt Bev that Lucy had finally gotten married and she did this because she thought Aunt Bev was dying. Well, Aunt Bev has recovered but is very frail, and is going to Lucy's cousins wedding. Now Lucy needs to find a fake husband for the weekend wedding. In comes Lucy's accountant, Dex Levian, a gorgeous, orderly and very conservative man-just the opposite of Lucy. He agrees to act as her husband for the weekend. The most often laid plans often come undone. This story has it all, hot and steamy sex, humor and a little crying. You'll have to read this book yourself to find out the outcome and you won't be sorry.

3.5 stars. Lucy needs someone to pretend to be her husband. Lucy's mom told her dying aunt that Lucy got married. Her aunt was so happy that Lucy was able to overcome her abusive father and find happiness with a man. When her aunt recovers and decides to come for a visit, Lucy needs to find someone to pretend to be her husband. Dex is Lucy's accountant and when he's in her lingerie store one day, Lucy's mom asks him to pretend to be her husband. I liked this book but didn't love it. Something that can make or break a book for me is the chemistry between the characters and with this book, I really didn't feel the connection between Lucy and Dex. I didn't dislike these characters though and still wanted to see them reach a HEA.

This was a very enjoyable read.
Lucy's character is a strong, independent woman who gets placed in a predicament due to an innocent lie told to an old woman who they thought was dying. Dex is Lucy's (sexy) account who is highly attracted to her and gets roped into helping her out.
Now the problem is the attraction is just too strong for either of them to resist yet there are consequences for their actions.
You have a fun cast of supporting characters, a sizzling attraction that also leads to lots of laughs.
This was a well rounded, nice paced story.

I really enjoyed the complex yet hot attraction between Dex and Lucy. Lucy had a terrible dad but had certain traits about being tidy. When Lucy needs a fake husband she ends up with her accountant. While the attraction is there she is too busy looking at the surface and seeing similar traits that her father had, so of course she is scared. With some twists turns there are auite a few surprises that leave you wondering what will happen. I enjoyed this book!

Oh the reviewers who missed the point. Come on! Sometimes you just have to grab a book you can get lost in and enjoy. The Surrogate Husband was that kind of book for me. Complete opposites, the hero *rises* to the occasion to help out the quirky heroine. It's light and fun to read. It's a romance story so you know there's going to be a HEA, but you don't know how this one is going to end until you get there. If you like contemporary romance stories read this one.

Great fun read! It's a pretend marriage story that is well written and highly entertaining. When Lucy's mom tells family matriarch Aunt Bev that she has gotten married, they never thought they would have to produce a husband!! When Aunt Bev comes to town for a family wedding, things get crazy!! Lucy and Dex are great and all the characters are entertaining. Loved it and I highly recommend it!

As much as I am a Brazen Imprint fan of Entangled Publishing, I am now getting hooked to these Lovestruck Imprints because they are just too cute and funny.

Lucy Hamilton is in need of a husband because of her mom’s hilarious slip up for telling their beloved old Aunt Bev that Lucy has finally found love and eloped with her sweet hubby, just because they thought the ninety year old lady wasn’t going to make it. Now that her aunt’s all better, alive and kicking and stoked to meet this ‘husband’ in an upcoming family reunion, Lucy needs to think fast. And very much according to her mother, her accountant, Dex Levian, seems to be the perfect candidate for a husband: tall, handsome, intelligent and deliciously exotic (he’s Armenian… and you guys probably know how extremely hot green-eyed Armenians are).

If you’ve seen a couple down the street that don’t even match at all, with their sense of style and personality and behavior, but seem to be very much attracted to each other, that’s how Lucy and Dex are; total opposites. Basically, Lucy and Dex as a couple are a matched mismatched paradox, but I loved them together and as individuals.

I love how Lucy comes off as a wild child – independent and brave – she runs her own business, a lingerie boutique and she likes the thrill of heights and recklessly riding the fast lane on her trusty motorcycle. She’s the type of girl who’s down for anything, with her pink highlights and numerous ear piercings, she’s literally fearless… except for one thing, which I guess isn’t much of a major spoiler, but she can’t swim and is literally afraid of bodies of water, be it the pool, or the lake or the ocean.

Meanwhile, Dex is not even the type of guy who you would expect to fit as Lucy’s husband, because when she’d generally fit with the ragged, tatted bad boys and biker dudes. He’s a suit and tie kind of guy, with a love for organization and professionalism. The fact that he’s an accountant is already an obvious giveaway. He’s not a thrill seeker for someone who’s an ex-marine, and he’s an absolute gentleman. Dex is literally the perfect husband and the dream man.

The plot is actually quite comedic and at the same time, mixed with the right amount of drama, as the whole family connives in the whole relationship charade just to make their beloved Aunt Bev very happy, and hoping she won’t find out or it will break her poor old heart. It’s quite short, because the whole span of time in the book is probably just two weeks or less, and most of the parts of the book revolved around the family reunion. Although it didn’t begin with an instalove moment, it still kind of fell that way nearing the end due to the immediate spill of love confessions.

If you’re into light romantic comedy reads, and would want to giggle for continuous twenty minutes like a school girl with an eighth grade crush, this book is something you got to pick up.

In The Surrogate Husband by Wynter Daniels, the contemporary romance novel opens up with a distraught Mama who told her dying Aunt Bev that her daughter, Lucy, had eloped. Lucy, who swore off serious relationships after getting hurt by her father and ex-fiance, suddenly finds herself trapped in a situation not of her own making. She loves her great Aunt Bev who helped finance her lingerie store, yet she isn’t comfortable lying to her great aunt. When her aunt decides to come to town for a family wedding, Lucy decides that it is better to play along with her mama’s lie rather than risk her aunt’s health. The problem–where do you find a husband in a few days?

Well, if you’re Lucy, you happen to have this hottie accountant, Dex, walk in your store at the most opportune time. Lucy had talked to Dex on the phone and had practically melted at his sexy voice, yet this straight-laced accountant reminded her too much of the men who had hurt her in the past. Dex is already attracted to the black and pink-haired, punk beauty but dating a client is a serious no-no–especially when you’re trying to merge your company with another one.old lady with cane

Of course, everything blows up in Lucy’s face when Dex reveals the fabrication. The question is, will Lucy forgive Dex and will Aunt Bev forgive the entire family for lying to her?

If you’ve read a lot of romance novels, like I have, you know that they practically always have a happy ending. It was clear that Dex and Lucy would end up together, just as it was equally clear that Aunt Bev would learn of the deception at some point. It was fun just reading to see how the author would bring the looming disaster to a head. This book was made even more interesting by having a punky but “wounded” heroine. Lucy is definitely a one-of-a-kind character that dresses up in sexy clothing as her personal way of making people think she is much stronger person that she really is. Any reader that has been hurt by previous relationships will definitely feel a kinship with Lucy as she struggles with opening her heart to Dex in order to have a chance at a happy forever after. I received this book as an advanced reader from Entangled Publishing but I would definitely have picked it up off the shelf if I had seen the book on my own. For $.99, you can’t beat this kind of entertainment!

The Surrogate Husband is a sweet story about a store owner name Lucy Hamilton who is happy being single and fancy –free. In her family she is known as the “wild one”. Lucy is happy going thru life enjoying men as friends and dating them but being the one to walk away when she is ready to end things.

Everything changes when Lucy’s mother tells a “small lie” to their rich Aunt Bev- she says that Lucy is dating and engaged to be married. Lucy is displeased over the lie but she lets it go because she thinks her aunt isn’t long for this world. But her Aunt gets better and makes a full recovery and wants to meet Lucy’s new fiancée. Now Lucy is in a panic because there is no fiancée. In walks Dex, her accountant. He is the complete polar opposite of Lucy- he is conservative, quiet, orderly and is super handsome in Lucy’s eyes. Lucy puts a proposition to Dex about being a her “fake husband” for a couple days at her aunt’s house.

Dex is so taken by Lucy and he loves what he sees in her that he agrees but he knows that by doing so, he is ruining the risk of losing his job due to the clause in his contract.

• Well they arrive at her aunt’s house and anything that could go wrong , goes wrong. Hijinks and tomfoolery occurs which sets Dex and Lucy on a path to finding out that their weekend love is more of a forever love, especially when the fake because real and they started heating up and their fake kisses because real kisses-There are laughs and there are tears. There are ups and downs. I really liked how the book ended.

What would you do if you needed a fake husband to attend a family wedding? Lucy finds herself in this predicament when her mother tells her ailing Aunt Bev she has finally married. With her Uncle Alan's wedding coming up, Lucy's mother confesses what she has done and now Lucy needs a fake husband. She couldn't tell Aunt Bev she wasn't married after the joy it gave her and with her fragile health, she is so special to her.
Dex Levian is Lucy's new accountant and he is totally HOT and preppy, which is so not her type. Yet he is willing to help her out at her uncle's wedding. When Aunt Bev turns the wedding into a family weekend get away, can they deny their mutual attraction to each other. Will they be able to over come their fears of becoming close to someone again and reach out to each other.

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

My Thoughts:

This was another one of those super cute tropes that you just know you'll find amusing and fun. Even though it wasn't one of the best I've read, I still enjoyed it a lot. Lucy and Dex are quite a pair, but you don't really feel the chemistry until you get closer to the end of the story. That makes it harder to root for them early on, even though I still did. What I loved was Lucy's Aunt Bev--she kinda just stole the show from everyone in the story.

The Surrogate Husband is an adorable story. It's filled with warmth and love and family. I loved how important family was in this--it didn't completely overshadow the romance between Lucy and Dex, but it definitely added to the beauty of the story. I would be interested in seeing what else Wynter Daniels has to offer in the future!

Bev recovers, and decides to meet Lucy and her fiancee at a family wedding. Lucy panics and in strolls Dex her acountant. He reluctantly agrees to be her fake fiancee, and they head off to the wedding. They fall for each other and have their own happy ending!

In my opinion Wynter Daniels ~ The Surrogate Husband is one of the most enjoyable contemporary reads I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I found the storyline well constructed, with characters that are easily relatable. It's structured as an easy read, and it flows really well. It has sizzle between the pages with Hot characters that you can't help but keep turning the pages to see what happens next. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone and everyone who like well written Romance Novels.

This story was totally irresistible and I had a blast reading it. OK, so let me tell you about the FUNFRIKKINTASTIC that is this story! LOL We have Lucy, a girl who wants nothing to do with love and relationships. We have her mother, who causes a WHOLE world of fantastic trouble for Lucy. We have a dying Aunt, but do we REALLY?!?!?, who only wants to see her beautiful niece married before she dies ... AND, we have Dex, the accountant, who's only focus is the merger of his Company, or is it?!?!?! LMAO
So here goes the gist .... Lucy's aunt is on her dying bed so Lucy's mother decides to tell her a little white lie about Lucy because in the end, who's gonna know, right? the woman is dying ... ok, but no so much, because she recovers. And you know what that means, right? Cue .... our love story where if something has the possibility of going wrong, it does. FANTASTIC, I tell ya. OK, let's move on ... so now that auntie has recovered, Lucy has to find herself a pretend husband and PRONTO (thanks mom!). And what do you know, here come Dex. Now Dex has been Lucy's accountant for a while, but they've only connected via emails or phone calls. One day, he comes to her shop and WHAM, he's embroider in this hilarious scheme of being Lucy's 'husband'. Did I mention that Dex's company has a very strict fraternization policy? Did I also mention that he needs to be on his BEST behavior because he is trying to merge his Company? But Dex doesn't exactly think of these things when he agrees to this scheme because when he sees Lucy for the first time he is so drawn to her he just cannot say no. And really, what's the harm, right? All they have to do is show up at her family's wedding and pretend they are married. No one from his company will even be there, so who cares, right?! .... um yea, as I said before HILARIOUS!

I loved reading this story SO much! The characters all made sense (they all had a role, not just there to take up space in your mind), and there were quite a few. And the storyline was very well developed and came full circle. Nothing was choppy and the ending was smooth! And once Lucy and Dex got going on their 'relationship', feelings began to develop and they were both VERY VERY steamy together ;)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!
