I'm a physical therapist and learned from Dr. Deppeler before reading this book. After finishing it, I can say it's one of the most practical health books I've read.
What I liked most
Dr. Deppeler breaks breathing down into what he calls the "3M's" - mechanics, mix (the chemistry part), and mind - and shows how they all work together. The best part is how he busts the myth that breathing more is always better. Turns out that's often wrong, and he explains why in simple terms.
Who this helps
Honestly, this book works for almost anyone. Whether you're trying to lower your blood pressure, deal with anxiety, or you're an athlete wanting better performance - there's something here for you. It's written in regular language, not medical jargon.
Real results
I've used these ideas with my patients who have anxiety and chronic pain, especially when their breathing patterns are making things worse. The changes I've seen are pretty amazing. Simple adjustments to how people breathe can make a huge difference in how they feel.
Bottom line
This isn't another trendy breathing fad. It's solid information that actually works. I'm already telling my patients, family, and friends to read it. If you want to understand how breathing really affects your health and learn practical ways to improve it, this book delivers.
