Dr Marcelle Moncrieffe-Newman, a Black woman from Northwest London, has established a remarkable leadership career in prominent positions. Through her journey, she became a trusted resource for Black employees seeking guidance in overcoming workplace challenges, particularly those related to racism and career advancement. This experience ignited her curiosity about the organisational cultures that perpetuate such negative experiences. As a result, Marcelle pursued a PhD that examined workplace culture and its effects on the career progression of Black employees.
In her debut book, Marcelle leverages her pioneering doctoral research to shed light on the lived experiences of Black employees in the workplace. Marcelle identifies the ‘ethnicity career progression gap’ and provides valuable insights and recommendations for leaders and colleagues who wish to combat racial exclusion at senior levels.
