Drakon-Clan #1

Gold Sector

Rate this book
I’m a broken Omega.
A hybrid wolf shifter
An abomination to dragonkind.
If these Alpha dragons find out, they’re going to send me back to the nomad lands… to die.

They already suspect that I’m something “other.”
Hence the evaluations and trials laid out before me.

So when my Alpha guard offers me a set of magical gold coins, I try to use them to buy favor with the Royal Court.
Except they want more.

To survive, I strike a deal with my handsome guard—I’ll give him whatever he wants in exchange for more of his golden enchantments.

There’s just one problem.
I underestimated the cost of this agreement.
Because it turns out there’s only one thing my Alpha guard wants.
And it’s the one thing I can’t give…
An heir.

Author’s Gold Sector is a “Rumpelstiltskin” retelling that features a fast-paced, fast-burn plot and a happily-ever-after ending.

This world is a mash-up of post-apocalyptic, omegaverse, and shifters. As you might expect with those pieces, the world itself has bleakness and abuse, but the Gold Sector (one of the territories formed as the world fell) is a place where omegas are cherished and protected, even rescued from other places. It’s because of this that the h’s father brings her to try and appeal to an alpha, like the H, who’s immediately captivated. The story was a fast-paced and entertaining read that I enjoyed a lot. It is meant to be a Rumpelstiltskin retelling that’s pretty flimsy so don’t expect a lot there though. Also, the blurb does not fit the actual story, maybe it changed as the author wrote it but she never updated the blurb?

Written in first person, dual POV (with the epilogue in a third POV from the MMC of book 2). No om drama and no real ow drama (the H is propositioned by an omega to help her through her heat, since he’d done it before, and the h does feel jealousy - the H firmly shuts this down and soothes the h. The other omega comes back later to apologize). The H is experienced, and has been with other omegas, but it’s pointed out in multiple ways how the h is unique for him. The h was not experienced, she’d been protected by her father.

Some tropes/themes:
☆ Omegaverse
☆ Alpha x Omega
☆ Hidden royal identity
☆ FMC effectively seeking sanctuary, but expecting abuse
☆ Consent, consent, consent
☆ Protective dragon shifters
☆ MMC becomes her guardian
☆ Nickname in another language
☆ Questioning intentions and building trust
☆ Courting and introducing FMC to a safe place
☆ Instincts, scenting, nesting, knotting, claiming, bonding
☆ Gold is a whole thing
☆ Political maneuvering
☆ Protective sibling
☆ Her wolf is accepted for the first time

Some of the world-building trickles in as the book goes on so readers may have questions initially, I’d recommend sticking with it if that’s your only hang-up. I thought by the end it was all fairly clear. The h is hopeful the Gold Sector will be a safer place than the sectors she’s lived in, but she doesn’t have many options because she’s run out of heat suppressants and needs an alpha. The story starts with her father bringing her to the Gold Sector to be considered. They’re greeted with suspicion, though it’s not clear what exactly they might be hiding, and it’s all complicated by the Gold prince’s immediate draw to the h.

Both mains are likable and while they do fall into the traditional alpha and omega archetypes, there are unique elements at play in the story and with the characters. I especially enjoyed the h’s initially unsure and sometimes innocent start developing into a certain place and pride in herself. My only complaints about the H were that he hides that he’s the prince, even if it’s incredibly obvious, and that he wasn’t as certain of the h as early as I thought he should be. His brother’s hyper-suspicions added to that frustration, but at least the reveal isn’t drama-filled and the brother makes amends.

I’d say this is a slow burn as the mains work on their connection, even if the h doesn’t know at first if the H is going to be her alpha or just her guardian. There’s acclimation and courting, not just jumping right into steamy times. It’s still a very steamy omegaverse with a training sort of feel to it and a first heat for the h. As said above, consent is crucial and the H checks in with the h repeatedly. He’s still an alpha and he does get his way of course, like in how he chooses to mark her as his.

The political machinations and references of other sectors may have added more to the world, but don’t add significantly to the plot until closer to the end. That reveal is primarily to set up the next story too, not impacting the current one. The most noteworthy supporting characters are the brother, another territory leader, and the h’s father, with the H’s proclaimed best friend and doctor also playing an important role.

Because of the pace and the tight focus of the story on either the building romance or the political plot questions, this flew by for me. The third act is mostly finally getting the suspicions answered and the H and h claiming each other. I was confused that despite her father featuring heavily in discussions, there’s no on page time between them other than the start. I also wish that there had been something more post-claiming. It’s made apparent that word spread that the H had chosen his omega, yet we don’t see a big presentation or what her daily life will entail. Still, this has all the omegaverse ingredients I enjoy, with an overall sweet story, and characters I could have a soft spot for. I’ll definitely check out book 2 with the brother and the hellion omega he’s going to be navigating.

It was an alright read. A bit on the shorter side and insta-lust. There was nothing remarkable about this story. I was hoping for different but it was very predictable.

gold sector

This was an amazing read! The world building was pretty neat . Taliana looking for safety and a mate got exactly that and much more from prince oros. I loved their story their connection so instant. Oros for being an alpha dragon is super sweet and patient for Taliana . There was plenty of spice and piercings between them. I really enjoyed their story and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I'm shook! Hannah loved an omegaverse book?!

This book's set in a future, dystopian Earth, specifically around Santorini. Some sort of plague has pretty much wiped out all humans, with shifters and other magical creatures rising up to become the dominant species. This premise really drew me in; I'm a sucker for alternate real world fantasy futures. The author's way of exploring world building around the plot worked really well for me – it didn't feel like an info dump, and I thought the whole premise was a unique concept.

Plot-wise, there's a lot of world and lore setting in the first third, focusing on establishing the characters' foundations. But it moves at a fast pace, with the building blocks peppered amongst what's happening around the characters and their interactions. It's really concise and well done, especially as it's not a thick book with loads of pages to explore such a diverse fantasy world and all its myriad of interconnected political issues.

I don't usually get on so well with omegaverse. I think it's partly because I don't enjoy the submissiveness in omega FMCs. Having said that, this omega really gives it back to her Alpha and pushes his buttons. It's a well-balanced romantasy, with equal focus on the fantasy world and plot, as well as building a good dynamic between the main characters. A few omegaverse books I've read felt a bit instalove, but this book had some good plot devices to make sure the MCs had to work towards their relationship.

I got really invested in the supporting cast throughout the book and hope I see more of them in the next instalment, Silver Sector!

Guilty pleasure reading continues with this next book

Thoroughly enjoyed this next installment of Foss' dystopian omegaverse world. If you don't know what omegaverse is, I would suggest looking it up. It is definitely a niche sub-erotica genre (imo) so you should be prepared.

Unlike Foss' other series I love, Chaistily Bitten, this book series doesn't have an overarching "goal or big enemy". I don't mind it, but just something to note. Erotica books do need, imo, a little substance to counter the spice.

For Gold Sector specifically, while not tied to any big world building was what I can "small problem" focused. It spoke of a woman's struggle to not only survive in a brutal world but find self-worth.

While I enjoyed this book, I do wish that we had more experiences with Taliana on her own, exploring and meeting people to help her discover her worth. Not just from the reassurances of her mate.

Still, smutty, enjoyable, and with enough focused intrigue to counter the smut.

“She tastes like decadent sin. A temptation I can’t refuse. A future I long to embrace.”

Special thanks to Lexi Foss for making ARCs of Gold Sector available at Sinners and Stardust this year!

Summary: Taliana needs a mate but being a wolf with dragon genetics makes her less than desirable, at least that’s what she’s been told. But when she submits herself to the Drakonian Alphas of Gold Sector, she learns that what she experienced in Obsidian Sector isn’t the norm. And Oros makes it his mission to prove just how valuable and worthy Taliana truly.

Review: Something about Lexi Foss’s books just set me to rights after reading so much dark romance. Like Lexi’s other books, her writing makes you feel just how devoted Alpha Oros is to Tali. Vaguely based on Rumplestiltskin, this book is all about a woman learning her worth and finding a home where she is accepted for who and what she is.

I will definitely be continuing with Silver Sector when it releases because I’m excited to see feisty omega put Alpha Onyx in his place 😂

RELEASE INFO FOR ARC/ALC BOOKS:
Release date of November 13, 2025 for all formats; ebook & audiobook (paperback available in author’s online store).

FAVORITE QUOTE:
“This is my only chance for survival. The alternative is worse than death.”
&
“‘I don’t even know her, Onyx,’ I grit out. ‘And yet, you’re throwing off waves of possessiveness the entire f**king sector can probably feel right now.’”
&
“She tastes like decadent sin. A temptation I can’t refuse. A future I long to embrace.”

NOTE:
This book is part of a much bigger world by this author, collabs with other authors, and by other authors, like JR Thorn and Mila Young. **You do not have to read any prior books to read this book!** But, all the sector books tie in together and I believe to get the fullest experience, read prior books first. This one is such a good one, though, it would be a great one to introduce yourself to this sector omegaverse world!

RECOMMENDATION:
Highest recommendation if looking for a MF, spicy, omegaverse, dystopian, fantasy romance with lots of angst, nesting, knotting and shifters!!! Dragon shifters are my absolute favorite!!!

GENRE, POV, TROPES, PAGE COUNT:
Genre is a MF Fantasy Romance. POV is in first-person, alternating by chapter between the FMC & MMC. Tropes include loose Rumpelstiltskin retelling, shifters (dragon and wolf), Omegaverse, virg!n DMC, hidden identity, royalty vs commoner, post-apocalyptic, nesting, knotting & more. Page count is 260.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW & TIME LENGTH:
Recorded in **full-cast duet audio** and is 7 hours 53 minutes long.

Audiobooks are magnificent. They have a way of immersing the reader further into the story and taking it to a whole new level. These narrators do an impeccable job of narrating their parts in this book. They do it flawlessly, with emotion, with passion, and they are just phenomenal! Marvelous job y’all, seriously!!

NARRATOR(S):
Andi Eloise: Taliana, the FMC
Cole Eubanks: Oros, the MMC
Kale Williams: Onyx, brother and second in command of MMC
Brandon Francis: Riordan, Alpha Prince of Jasper Sector
Lisa Zimmerman: Mari, Princess of Jasper Sector-only in epilogue-hints at her being FMC of another book

FMC:
Taliana Embers is the FMC, she is 21 and is a dragon & wolf shifter mix. Her nicknames include little diamond, printesa mea & Tay. Taliana was raised by her father. As an Omega, she has been raised to be subservient and very much knows her place in the hierarchy of the sector world. Although omegas are coveted and rare, they are often treated horribly. With her having mixed genetics, she’s considered an abomination. She expects and accepts the absolute worst when she enters Drakon Sector.

MMC:
Alpha Oros is the MMC. He is centuries old, Prince and ruler of the Drakon Sector, and is a dragon shifter. He also goes by Prince Oros and is nicknamed Rumpel or Rumpelstiltskin by his brother and close friends. Oros is a wonderful ruler, good to his people, tries to save as many humans and anyone else who needs help. In this ruthless world they live, he shows the world something different of himself and his sector. He leads the rest of the world to believe he is just another heartless ruler who does whatever he wants to anyone he wants. So, those that enter his sector are expecting to be treated badly, but are instead welcomed into a safe haven.

STORYLINE/PLOT:
In recent years, Taliana and her father have been in the nomad lands just trying to survive. When they finally run out of estrus suppressants for her they have no choice but to seek asylum in a sector. Her father chooses the Drakon Sector.

When Oros meets Taliana he knows something is different about her. Her beauty… and her delectable scent. Does anyone else notice how good she smells? He decides quickly not to reveal his true identity. He wants to get to know her first, make sure she isn’t there seeking him out for his position of power as Prince. So, he introduces himself as her “guardian” as she settles in to her new life.

Taliana is very innocent, untouched and has been suppressing her heat cycles for years. She will need an alpha to bring her through it and it’s coming soon. She does seem to like Alpha Oros, could she ask him to help her? Would he?

This story is about Oros & Taliana, how they get to know each other, how they work though assumptions and political issues that make them unsure of one another, grow in character individually and together, and ultimately accept one another for who they are. He sets out to prove to her how much she is valued & how worthy she is of love and happiness.

This story… It’s angsty, it makes you angry, it makes your blood pump, and it makes you fall in love with these two brilliantly written characters!!

NOTE:
Check trigger warnings!

THANKS:
Thank you Lexi C. Foss for this amazing ebook and audiobook! I absolutely love all of your books but this one is just super special to me! The characters are so endearing & I just love them! So, thank you for this beautifully written story! Can’t wait for book 2!!

Gold Sector: A Standalone Romantasy with Omegaverse Vibes(Drakon Clan Series Book 1) by Lexi C. Foss is a unique and loosely based retelling of Rumpelstiltskin. Taliana has been raised in territories where she's been shunned for being a hybrid wolf shifter. When her father takes her Gold Sector in search of a mate and protection she does her best to follow the rules and protect her secrets. However she finds that the Gold Sector is nothing like she expected. When she's given a guardian she fears the worse of what will be expected of her. As he shows her the area and people she's surprised to find how well everyone is treated, especially the omegas. The prince of Gold Sector is drawn to her scent and tries to ease her worries when he sees her trauma by pretending to be a simple guardian. However neither expected the feelings to deepen and they must decide if they want to deepen the bond they feel.
I enjoyed this omegaverse quite a bit.i felt sorry for Taliana and her past that left her feeling ashamed of who she is. I loved the prince and how he was so patient with her showing her that she's enough. However there is plenty going on behind the scenes that Taliana is unaware of including her guardian being the Prince, her father having ulterior motives in bringing her there. So many things make it hard for everyone to trust one another leading to a misunderstanding where much to her dismay Taliana believes the prince is actually Rumpelstiltskin and desires to ply her with gold and take her first born.
The story is fast paced filled with secrets, betrayals, misunderstandings, and questionable choices. However it is also filled with innocence, trust, and chemistry. It was wonderful to.watch as Taliana came into her own and was able to accept her wolf and her worth. The story has plenty of spice that gradually builds.
If you're a fan of shifter omegaverses, romantic fantasy, shifters romance, dragons, wolves, magic, forced proximity, retellings, mates, bonds, and heats then this is a must-read!

From the very first chapter, Gold Sector had me in its grip and refused to let go. The shimmering power of gold is woven through every moment, and the depth of the characters, the way their emotions crackle off the page, and the richness of the world building made this story impossible to put down.

Taliana completely won me over. She is a hybrid wolf who has spent so long believing she is not worthy that watching her slowly realise her own value was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Her journey in the Gold Sector feels tender, empowering and real, and her dynamic with Oris is absolute perfection. The instant pull between them is electric, but what made me love their pairing even more was the gentleness. Oris never pushes, never assumes. Instead, he gives her space, patience, and the kind of golden devotion that feels magical. The gifts he leaves her were such a sweet touch and made their bond feel even more intimate.

And when Taliana’s heat hits, the story absolutely delivers. Sensual, emotional, and so full of trust, it is everything we hope for from an Alpha Omega pairing done right.

The side characters were just as brilliant. Onyx had me laughing out loud with his nickname “rumpelstitskin,” and Rio calling Oris “silver kiss” was hilarious. Their teasing brought so much life to the Gold Sector and made every interaction sparkle. Everything wraps up with the heartfelt, satisfying ending readers crave. The setup for the next book is perfect too. I already know Onyx is going to have his hands full with Mari, and I cannot wait to watch that chaos unfold.

This book did not just meet expectations, it soared past them. It is easily one of my top reads of the year. You get a powerful Alpha, a not so meek omega finding her own fire, a world rich with magic, and the kind of storytelling that stays with you long after you have finished.

Absolutely adored every page. Gold Sector is a masterpiece.

I always enjoy Lexi’s stories! I mean who wouldn’t with a protective Alpha male shifter Prince that meets his possible future mate when he was least expecting it. This story is a Rumplestiltskin retell.

The Gold Sector was a fast paced book that featured the FMC, Taliana, learning her worth after living in the Nomads with her father. When she comes to the Gold Sector she is met with skepticism from the sector’s second in command Onyx, the Prince’s brother. The Gold Sector Prince, Oros is immediately smitten and agrees to protect her as her Guardian. The entire sector prides themselves on the treatment of their omegas, to honor and cherish them, unlike the Obsidian Sector she is familiar with. Will she be accepted or is she being deceitful?

Lets talk audio-
I love a good audio with a full cast!! While this story captured my interest, a narrator can make or break a book for me.

Most narrators in this story were really good, however the narrator for the MMC just didn’t hit for me. He was so overly animated and the delivery of his lines were done so slowly that I needed to speed up the audio. In doing so, this then offset the FMC to an unnatural delivery in her lines. I have read hundreds of audios and this was the first time I have had this type of experience. While I got through it, I’m not sure that I would choose to listen again to this one which is disappointing as I enjoy doing rereads every now and again.

I do look forward to the next book featuring Onyx and Mari. The preview of these two characters appear to mix like oil and water which of course makes for an entertaining story! Can’t wait!

This book is a solid 4.5 stars! Honestly, I don’t think you can go wrong with a Lexi C. Foss vampire or shifter book. She’s incredibly talented at weaving different genres within the same universe, where vampires and shifters dominate, and humans were nearly wiped out by a long-ago epidemic or pandemic.

This book introduces a new shifter in the Lexi universe: dragon shifters. However, they still have a strong presence in the wolf shifter world.

Tatiana is a hybrid shifter and an omega. She’s on a mission to find an alpha to mate with, hoping to help her father and escape the dangerous and scary sector they’re living in when they arrive in the Gold Sector. Oros, the gold sector prince, is unaware of Tatiana’s true identity when they meet, and he initially pretends to be her assigned guardian during her search for a mate.

As is typical in Lexi’s world, her Alphas are strong, sexy, and commanding, but they also value consent and despise other sectors that mistreat their omegas. Oros is immediately drawn to Tatiana and wants to court her, but she’s unsure and skittish because he doesn’t act like she’s been taught to expect. Their back-and-forth as they get to know each other is sweet, sassy, and effectively builds tension while strengthening their connection.

If you’ve read any of the other books set in “sectors” in this world, you’ll have a good idea of what to expect, and it’s all great. If you’re new to Lexi’s world, you’ll have no trouble jumping in, and I’m sure you’ll want to explore some of the other fantastic stories in this universe. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read more in the Gold Sector in the future!

I absolutely love this series. There’s a central running theme of Omegas being mistreated across the sectors, and these newly appointed sector princes stepping up to change that broken system. They understand the true rarity of Omegas, and that they should be valued, cherished, and fiercely protected. And no one cherishes an Omega better than these dragon shifters. Dragons are the most ancient, mystical race in this world, and they’ve long held a reputation for being brutal and arrogant; seeing other races as beneath them and even kidnapping Omegas from other sectors. But when this “diamond” Omega is brought to the dragon prince by her own father, she quickly learns the truth about dragons… and it is nothing like the horror stories. I am obsessed with how these males are written. They’re solid, steady, protective in all the right ways. They have their lives together, and they provide the grounding, safe foundation these traumatized Omegas need to heal from the abuses they’ve suffered or witnessed. It’s deeply satisfying and heartwarming. Another standout feature? The full cast narration. Each narrator voices their character in every chapter they appear in, and we get POV shifts woven throughout. Meeting Cole Eubanks in person at a recent author conference only made me love this series more. (He’s an amazing human being!) I’ve been a long-time fan of Kale Williams, and adding Andi Eloise, Lisa Zimmerman, and Brandon Francis makes this the A-team of audiobook casts. This is an automatic buy for me. Highly, highly recommend diving into this world.

Heat- 3.5
Need to know- Exists in the same world as Foss’ V-clan and X-clan series but it isn’t necessary to read those first. Reading them first would give you a better understanding of the world building, though.

Lexi Foss’ Gold Sector claims it is a Rumplestilksin retelling. In that aspect, it failed. There seemed to be few similarities between this story and the tale other than the MMC having the nickname of Rumplestiltskin due to his love for and ability to create gold. This connection and the nickname itself felt forced and awkward. However, as a story on its own, Gold Sector was amazing.

Taliana was raised in one of the most brutal territories and expected the worst of all alpha males. She has been taught that not only is she inferior but that an omegas role is to submit and be bred. When she arrives at Gold Sector, the prince takes an immediate interest in her, but he is unsure if he can trust her given she came from his enemy. Instead of going in an enemies to lovers direction, the MMc, Oros, decides to treat her as if she is innocent until shown otherwise. He is determined to show her that not all alphas are cruel.

I loved watching their relationship develop and as they learned to trust each other. The world building was slightly underdeveloped. I don’t think you would have a very good grasp of the dystopian setting if you hadn’t read the other series.

Taliana Embers hooked me from page one. A twenty one year old omega who has spent her whole life believing she is an abomination, walking into Drakon Sector expecting to be torn apart. She keeps calling herself worthless while everyone else keeps calling her little diamond and I was fully invested in watching her figure out her own strength. Her mixed dragon and wolf blood makes her a target, but she has this quiet grit that slips through every time she thinks she is supposed to bow.

Then there is Alpha Oros. Prince Oros. The ancient dragon everyone thinks is a monster. His friends call him Rumpel and honestly he deserves it because the way he bargains with Taliana had me yelling at my Kindle. He plays it cool, plays it sharp, but he is actually the softest ruler in the whole sector world. He is out here saving humans, offering sanctuary, pretending he is cruel so no one realizes he has a heart the size of his territory.

Their dynamic is fast, heated, and addictive. Taliana thinking she is walking into her death and instead walking straight into Oros who treats her like something precious was the best part of the book. The gold coins, the bargains, the pressure, the secrets. It all moves fast in a good way. If you want a quick hit of fantasy romance with dragons, an omega who finds her spine, and a prince who hides his goodness under a wicked smile, this one is worth the read.

POV:
You’re an omega, a commodity, basically, in a dark, dangerous world and therefore find yourself in need of protection. A real love and decency might just be too much to hope for. He’s too good to be true! Or is he…?

✨🐉

“It’s like my soul has known hers for an eternity already.”

As with all Foss reads, I had trouble putting this down, and oh-the-hold it had on me! Delicious, as always. I am living for any ‘sector’ setting I can get these days.

✨ Dragons.
🐉 A / B / O dynamic.
✨ All sorts of shifters.
🐉 A smidge of ‘other woman’ drama.
✨ FMC is a v!rg!n.
🐉 Protector romance.
✨0mega he4ts.
🐉 Dystopian / futuristic world-building.
✨ A brewing war, I think.
🐉 Covert operations.
✨ FMC is innocent but far from naïve.
🐉 Addictive world-building.

I loved every second of this, both eyeball-reading and listening. I read from both the eBook and the paperback ARC—both are stunning with unique formatting. The print ARC has beautiful edges on all sides. And I listened to the audiobook in completion—what a beautiful production! This was interestingly cast, full-cast, and featured absolutely epic voice-acting.

ALL the stars.

Probably unrelated, but I need Mari’s book like, yesterday—I feel like it promises forced-proximity deliciousness and chaotic antics and I cannot wait to see it, whatever it delivers.

Omegaverse is not usually my favourite pnr genre. I think mainly due to the forced submissiveness of the omegas and their lack of choice when in heat. However, Lexi is one of my favourite authors and I was looking for an audio book, so grabbed the opportunity eagerly.

Gold sector Prince Oros (and gold sector in general) made a very refreshing change. He was all alpha, caring, protective and very dominant, but he also made it clear he'd do nothing without consent.

Omega Taliana was a delight, innocent but vulnerable and tarnished mentally by what she'd been through and seen in the brutal Obsidian sector. She'd always been told she wasn't good enough and her wolf an abomination to be kept hidden, in a world of dragon shifters. Her bravery, honesty, humbleness and growing confidence in the face of a powerful alpha was fabulous to see.

I listened to the audio and the narrators were all excellent. I love how their characters all interacted and their voices heard, even when it wasn't their POV.

This was a Rumplestiltskin fairy tale retelling and I enjoyed it. The world building was excellent, the story relatively fast paced, but also sweet and engaging.

Im looking forward to next book, Oros's brother Onyx and a feisty little minx of an Omega in Mari!

Taliana arrives in Gold Sector with her father. She believes that as she is an Omega he wants to hand her over to them as a potential mate and receive some gold in return but later finds that isn't exactly the real reason!
Prince Oros is bewitched by the new arrival Taliana's scent. But he doesn't completely trust the reason her father gave for them coming there and isn't convinced it isn't a trap of some sort. Taliana doesn't realise he is a prince so until Oros is certain they aren't a threat there is no harm in letting her think he is just an ordinary Alpha is there?
This is described as a Rumplestiltskin retelling. If that is that is the case I would say it is a very loose retelling. Oros has been given the nickname Rumplestiltskin or Rumple for short by his brother Onyx as he does possess gold magic and can conjure gold but it isn't really what I would class as a retelling. That doesn't matter though because this is an absolutely brilliant story and I loved it from the first to the last page. I did really like the fact that Taliana didn't cause unecessary drama over the mistaken identity and I liked the way the threads for the next book in the series started to weave together during the course of this story so by the end we knew who the next couple was likely to be! I can't wait the the next story, Onyx is going to have his work cut out taming his princess!

Lovely Dystopian story by Lexi C Foss.

Almost all the humans have died & the supernatural has overtaken the world & split the lands into different Sectors. Don’t know what it is about a map but I do love one at the start of a book, maybe it allows me to vision where everything is in my mind.

Taliana is a hybrid Omega who is in search of an Alpha who will protect her from her original Obsidian Sector. Her father introduces her to Oros the Golden Sector Prince & leader of that Sector hoping they will take her in. This story is a mate match romance but due to genetic engineering both Oros & his Brother, Onyx are unsure of the match being a true match. Whilst his brother is against it & keeps warning him away from Taliana, Oros’s Dragon is having none of it & wants to mark Taliana as his. Taliana comes over as quite a strong character but she is also quite innocent.
She has been brought up in a different Sector who don’t treat their Omegas with any form of respect & use them as breeders to lure in strong Alphas.

Good start to a series I believe the next one is going to be quite funny watching Onyx trying to keep Mari out of trouble.

Gold Sector is a romantasy with Omegaverse vibes, where survival means striking dangerous bargains.

Tali believes she is a broken Omega — a hybrid wolf shifter no one wants. An abomination to dragonkind, but she needs to be protected.

Tali's father will do whatever he can to protect his daughter, and brings her to the only place he knows she will be accepted.

What Tali never expected was to have an Alpha guard who shows her that Omegas are cherished in Gold Sector, which makes her wary and unsure.

With her impending heat cycle, she must learn to trust him. What she discovers is that he is no guard at all — Oros wants to claim her, mark her, and adorn her in gold so everyone knows who she belongs to, the Prince of Gold Sector.

This is a fast‑paced, high‑stakes retelling with Rumpelstiltskin undertones, dripping with tension and desire.

Tropes
• Omegaverse dynamics
• Hybrid wolf shifter heroine
• Alpha dragon guard
• Forbidden bargains
• Breeding
• Court intrigue
• Rumpelstiltskin retelling

Trigger
• Manipulation
• Possessive Alpha dynamics
• Power imbalance
• Explicit sexual content

The best thing about this was the epilogue - because it shifted the focus to the characters of the next book.
The rest was just … boring. Nothing happened. There was no plot, no conflict. It was just alpha and omega meet, alpha and omega fall in lust/love, alpha and omega mate, the end.
After how rich in plot, character and relationship development the V-clan and full-length X-clan novels were, I expected much more from this and was sadly disappointed.
The two main characters remained so bland that I actually started skimming through their scenes to get to the few where the H talked politics.
Oh, and the “other woman” character Bella reminded me of Ivana from Eclipse Sector in the best way - supposedly perfect omega with a penchant for blabbing uncontrollably. Her one scene gave her more character and substance than the heroine. Hope she’ll get a book too.

The epilogue did make the next book seem promising though. There seems to be some banter, a heroine whose goal isn’t to find a mate for the sake of finding a mate, and a hero who at least claims that he’ll try to resist her charms.

Alpha/Omega
Gold Sector- while can be read alone; I highly recommend reading V Clan, Kodiak, X-Clan.. they all tie into each other.
In this story we follow Prince Oros and Taliana.
Taliana is a hybrid/ experiment omega who's been told by other Alphas that's he's tainted because of her DNA and that shes only good for breeding.
Prince Oros of the Gold Sector are Dragon shifters and cherish all their omegas. They buy broken omegas, bring them to the Gold Sector to help them heal, mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Does Taliana believe the Alphas of the Gold Sector when shes told that omegas are cherished, treated with respect and are not forced to take an Alpha when they go into heat.
Can Prince Oros prove to Taliana that his Sector Alphas are not like the other Alphas that shes been around. Will Taliana let Prince Oros prove to her that he wants to be the one to show her how omegas are to be treated.
Come along with their journey, an Alpha with a soft heart and a omega that needs to love and accept herself.

An OmegaVerse dystopian story with a DRAGON?! Sign me up!

Taliana is a hybrid Omega, one made to think she is less than her whole life by everyone she knows, except for her father. When her first heat nears, her father takes her to Gold Sector in hopes of finding a mate for her, as well as a safe place for her to live. But there's more that not even Taliana is aware of.

More that Oros and Onyx both can tell, but not what that more might be. However, Tali is a scent match for Oros and he is determined to make her his, regardless of how Onyx fights the match. Slowly, Oros shows Tali that she is not less than, but that she is more than worthy, all while fighting the claim that his inner beast wants to make.

As with every other Lexi book that I've read, this one is one spicey read, though there are moments of intrigue, patience, wonder and so much more. My only "complaint" is I wish it was longer, so, so much longer. LOL I'm excited to see how this new Sector fits in with and continues to expand this world.

These two were so cute… I developed a soft spot for our protective and possessive royal; they way Oros is dedicated to Taliana from the start was lovely to see. Taliana needs a man to give her back a feeling of self-worth and he totally provided it. He was exactly what she needed, but in a way she’s also what he needs. They’re the perfect match.

Even though I think these characters live in a very interesting world, the main focus lies with the characters and their budding relationship. World building isn’t prominent, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it might be a missed opportunity. Still, I loved the characters and just reading their story was enough to enjoy this book.

When I read the blurb, I have to admit I was expecting a different story. Some parts of it are a bit misleading in my opinion, but it didn’t influence my reading enjoyment very much so I decided not to make it a thing. Overall, this was a great palate cleanser, and the perfect time for me to read it.
