Caleb North just needs to survive one last undercover assignment. He’s been sent to infiltrate what he believes is a vigilante group. To do it, he’ll have to get close to Mallory Cassel. But there’s a fine line between close and too close. He shouldn’t want her, but he does. She shouldn’t allow him into her life, but has no choice.
Mallory is hunting a man who molests and kills young girls—girls who look like her sister. She’s trying to outrun her destiny as judge, jury and executioner, but holding on to her humanity isn’t a sure thing. It’s not even a likely one, not when her Reaper Lord father has plans for her.
Reaper Hounds. Death Hounds. Hellhounds. The myths don’t get it right.
They’re all killers. Or killers in training.
And if Caleb’s not careful, he’s going to be on the receiving end of Hellhound justice.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one - dark, gritty, suspenseful, disturbing in many ways, which is not surprising as it is dealing with human trafficking and the vilest of the human predictors, the pedophiles. Mallory's burning, desperate need to maintain her humanity does not come across as whiny but as that of a strong woman fighting for what is important. This is a good start to what could be an impressive UF series.
Demon hounds fathered by the Satan himself, living on the human realm as vigilantes/private investigators. I had waited for Jory strong to create another great series (Ghostland World) but this is definitely a missed. It was mediocre in every aspect -if- the author is aiming for a suspenseful murder mystery PNR. The sick child molester/murderer is just waiting to be caught and Cade (H) is just hanging around Mallory supposedly undercover to get in her pants. I was ready to love this book for the fact that Mallory is a kickass -Alpha, literally- and unlike JS's other series, it's not all smut. I still couldn't comprehend why she loath her father?? He seems to be helping her...not sure I would read the sequel just to find out -if there's going to be one.

Oh be still my beating heart what a great read, action packed with loads of magic and aggression. The romance side might have been a little too quick and perfect for my taste, but I loved how Mallory had to wrestle with who she is and what needs to be done. There better be another book, I would like to see what evil dad is up to. Highly recommended to those who love their kick butt leading ladies in dark urban fantasies.
Oh boy, oh boy. Fantastic! I think this story hit me with a shot or two of adrenaline or a couple pots of coffee! Couldn't put it down. This is an edge of your seat, avoid all interruptions thrill ride from beginning to end. It has it all - murder, mystery, suspense, romance and a bit of folklore. I can't wait to read the next one. More Please!!!
