Jordan “Bougie” Boucher has a reputation – one he didn’t earn. The star NHL defenseman plays the part of a rich young playboy who doesn’t take anything seriously, and he lets everyone believe it—because it’s easier than explaining the truth. Thinking his love life was cursed, he’d almost given up on finding something real. Until Kennedy Kramer stepped onto the team plane. The gleam from her pilot wings caught his eye and lit up something inside he thought he’d never find again—the light at the end of the tunnel. Her.
The only problem? She wants nothing to do with him.
Kennedy Kramer, the Milwaukee Steel Riders’ no-nonsense pilot, has zero patience for the antics of Jordan Boucher. To her, he is exactly what the media says he is—an arrogant, spoiled, entitled rich boy. She’s determined to ignore him…until an uncomfortable run-in with a co-worker forces her to agree to fake date him.
What started as a convenient lie quickly spirals, especially when anonymous messages warn them to stay away from each other. But with his dream girl finally within reach, there’s no way Jordan is backing off. Not when she starts chipping away at the cracks in the mask he wears every day—and not when she surprises them both by wanting to know the man hiding underneath it.
But just as the chemistry builds between them…so do the threats.
Ice Deke is a laugh-out-loud hockey romance that will make you blush, swoon, and keep you on the edge of your seat.
This book is perfect for fans of:
Fake Dating Age Gap (she’s older) Spice Coaching (she coaches him) Rom Com No Third Act Breakup Hockey Player x Female Pilot Black cat x golden retriever He’s obsessed, she’s annoyed
A super sweet, hilarious, fake dating good time. Kennedy is my GIRL for life, and these two are just meant to be ! Such a sweet ending too!
————————————
I always know I can count on Ellie to give me a hilarious, fun, easy going romance that packs a seriously exciting punch, and of course I knew Jordan “Bougie” Boucher would have me howling, and both things were true.
Jordan had his sights set on the love of his life, the one woman on earth who won’t give him the time of day, Kennedy. Kenni is the teams pilot. She’s a complete badass, and she’s worked hard for everything in her life. She is accomplished, talented, and hard working. She’s missing something though.. someone to share all of her accomplishments with.
So when Kennedy needs a bit of a helping hand to keep her new coworker off her back, Jordan is there to save the day. And maybe both of their reputations at the same time.. fake dating anyone? 👀
I had so much fun with these two. Seeing the real side of Jordan was really beautiful. He’s been through so much, he’s worked so hard, and he really deserves all the happiness in the world. I was so happy to see him come out of his shell and show Kennedy the REAL Bougie.
Kennedy was a badass, is a badass, and will continue to be a badass till the day she dies. I want to be her when I grow up. She was so much fun, her black cat energy was spot on, and has the willpower of a saint 😅 I loved her character so much. And I’m so happy for her and her happily ever after.
I can’t wait for more of these couples ! I have no idea what’s happening next.. but I have a good feeling I’m going to LOVE it. 😉

*Time-Out* (said in Zack Morris’ voice and gestures) This is a must read perfect hockey romance. Book 3 of the Milwaukee Steel Riders Hockey series, this book can be read as a standalone or read it as a continuation to the Ellieverse.
This book follows Jordan “Bougie” Boucher - a hockey player and the teams pilot Kennedy Kramer. The two don’t normally have much interaction, mostly due to Kennedys perception of Bougie being a player and not wanting to give him the time of day, until one night in a bar when Bougie thinks he is coming to ‘rescue’ Kennedy from an unpleasant encounter with a skeevy new coworker and they end the night in a fake dating scenario. Now the two will get to know each other better and find they have more in common then they think and stereotypes are not usually fact.
Kennedy is my kind of girl and I relate to her so much being she is a ‘black cat’ who is a ‘touch him and die’ type of girlfriend.
My millennial heart also absolutely loves all the references to pop culture from the 90s and early 2000s. So many good scenes in this book have call outs to some of my favorite movies, tv shows and songs.
Quotes that I highlighted because …
“He’s everyone’s fairy godfather, meddling in their lives in order to get them together with their fated mate like he’s some magical spirit from the fictional world of Elfayne or something.” - in reference to Johnny the bartender. He is someone we all want to have in our lives. Plus I’m a sucker for a reference to “fated mates”.
“I love my family, but found family are like a warm hug on a shitty day.” - Kennedy in reference to the awesome ladies that are the other half of the Riders.
“God, what do I wear? What says, ‘I like you, and I respect your boundaries, but also I want to rip your clothes off, tie you to my bed, and sit on your face?’ Jeans?” - Kennedy. I mean… it’s a valid inquiry.
“Jordan Boucher does not let his woman cry. He performs the grand gesture of running to her through an entire arena with Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith playing in his mind to show her what she means to him.” - If Bougie didnt already make me swoon, this quote would have had me, what a perfect romance movie moment and with the perfect song.

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Ellie Drake for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
If you can count on an Ellie K Drake book for anything, it's that you'll be having a fun time. Ice Deke is no exception. As expected, Bougie continues to be the over-the-top crazy guy we've all come to know and love from the first two books but you also learn about the other side of Bougie that we haven't seen to date. And Kennedy? She's the exact opposite of him. Which, naturally, makes for hilarious banter between the two of them. We have an added level of mystery with this one and if you'd have told me to expect a RomCom Romantic Suspense, I would have been curious to see how it works and, somehow, it does. We're definitely light on the suspense but it's still woven through the story and, even when it comes to a head, the RomCom still makes its appearance. And if you're a millennial pop culture fan, our Gen Z man Bougie, who grew up surrounded by three millennial sisters, can hit the pop culture references that will make you smile.
We, of course, get glimpses of some of our favorite Milwaukee Steel Rider characters and get a peek at the future of the Rider's world. I've been shipping the next book from the very beginning so I'm excited to see how that pans out and what becomes of that story.
Big thanks to Ellie for the beta opportunity and Ellie and Love Notes PR for the ARC opportunity.
Olivia and Hayes were sweet. Maggie and Vladi were hot. But Kennedy and Jordan? I love my Bougie baby being a Millenial in a Gen Z body. His pop culture references, golden-retriever-green-flag energy is so adorable and I have loved him in the background all through the series and getting to finally get his book is... 👌🏻 Kennedy really made an impression showing up for Maggie in book two and Maggie 'effing' James is returning the favor in a wonderfully amusing way. The way Jordan really has to grow into his confidence to show his softer side to Kennedy breaks my heart and then she treasures that side and heals all of my pain. Similarly, Kennedy has walls that he slowly breaks down with his honesty and patience. The mystery of who is sending him messages and the background danger pushes them together and they fully embraces that in the culminating scene. My favorite thing is how much he appreciates her strength and wants nothing more than to see her shine, even while he wants to protect her. I cannot say enough how much I was laughing, crying, mad and kicking my feet with giggles around melting and swooning for this couple.
Oh Bougie! We all knew that his book would be hella funny with his personality, but what you might not have expected was how vulnerable he would be! He’s been pining over Kennedy for a while and he is the literal definition of a man obsessed. I love how he swoops to help, even if he doesn’t realize how this could backfire. But as these two continue to fake date and Kennedy sees a different side of Jordan, things start to shift and become a little more real.
Thank you Ellie and LoveNotesPR for allowing me to receive an ARC of this! I’ve been a huge fan of the first two books and the third installment did not disappoint.
Jordan and Kennedy were such fun characters and it was great to get lost in the MKE Steel Riders world again. Jordan will do anything to prove his love to #unbothered Kennedy and I love nothing more than a fake dating trope.
Ellie is fabulous with a one liner and made me laugh out loud more than once. “What in the Eras Tour?”
Don’t blink or you’ll miss a nice nod to Hailey Rodger’s Colorado Storm as well! ❤️
If you love a hockey romance with lovable characters, top tier banter and more pop culture references than you think possible, this one is a must read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️/5 📚 Book 3 in a Series (can be read as standalone) 🏒 NHL Hockey Romance 🗣️ Dual POV 🖤 M/F
Okay so this book??? I was hooked immediately and Bougie owns my entire personality now.
We get a playboy hockey star MMC with a reputation he didn’t earn and a no-nonsense pilot FMC who wants absolutely nothing to do with him....and the SECOND that dynamic was set, I knew I was in.
Jordan (aka Bougie) is giving golden retriever disguised as a cocky rich boy and I LOVED IT. Everyone thinks he’s this unserious, arrogant player, but underneath?? this man is down bad and just wants something real. Watching Kennedy slowly peel back those layers...here for it.
Now Kennedy...I'm kinda obsessed. She is black cat energy through and through....focused, unimpressed, and not falling for his act. Which obviously makes him spiral in the best way. The push/pull here is SO good, especially once the fake dating kicks in.
Fake dating but with tension + actual stakes.... What starts as convenience turns messy FAST, especially with the added pressure and outside threats creeping in 👀
The chemistry....constant ✅. The banter..... elite ✅. And the emotional depth actually surprised me...this wasn’t just fun and flirty, there are real moments where you see both of them dealing with things under the surface.
Also BONUS: ✨ No third act breakup (You all Know How I feel About These) ✨ He’s obsessed, she’s annoyed energy ✨ And when she starts softening.....yeah he’s DONE
This book is the perfect mix of funny, spicy, and slightly chaotic with just enough emotional weight to hit.

✨️ 📚 ARC 📖 REVIEW ✨️
I have been waiting on Bougie's book after reading the first book! And I have to say this is my favorite book so far!! I love Bougie and what he had brought to the books before. You best believe I was more than excited to dig into this baby!
Every single time I open an Ellie bok I know that I am going to have soo much fun! Between the puns, jokes and just downright funniness that is injected all the way through this book, I am always sad when the end arrives.
Jordan was always the Bougie-est, and also one of the funniest guys on the team, but with all the laughter he was such a deep human being. He had so much more to him than just the jokes and designer everything.
Kennedy is a Badass who flies a plane for the hockey team! She has worked so hard for everythign she has but ends up alone. Which is such a sad thing for someone like her. Luckily, Bougie is the answer to her problem but becomes so much more than just an answer for a temporary problem.
I really enjoyed getitng to know Kennedy and even more about Bougie! I loved their funny moments, but I also LOVED their SPICY moments! WSe all know that Ellie can bring us the best spice when it comes to these hockey men, and I think she saved all the really good stuff just for Bougie!
Thank you 🫶🏻 to ✨️ Ellie K. Drake & Love Note PR ✨️ for the complimentary 📚 ARC 📚. ✨️ All opinions are my own, honest, and voluntary✨️.
The moment I read “Bougie’s Note”, I knew I was going to love his story, and this one had me hooked. I literally did not want to put this book down. This book had me laughing, swooning over my new book boyfriend: JJ, and loving how strong of a character the FMC was throughout this book!
Defenseman, Jordan “Bougie” Boucher, #68 on the Milwaukee Steel Riders has a reputation and one that Kennedy Kramer wants no business of. Kennedy is the pilot for the hockey team and tries her best to ignore him, but can she really do that when a little white lie hits the media? Nope. Enter: fake dating, age gap (she’s older), and she is his spice coach? Ohhhh, yesssss, please! As both of their walls start to fall, threats come their way and honestly, I was on the edge of my seat to figure out the outcome.
I absolutely loved this book. The banter was amazing, the pop culture references were perfection, the spice was hot (keep the scarf on). These two are definitely a favorite book couple of mine now!
Thank you to Love Notes PR and Ellie Drake for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.
Bougie has a thing for his team pilot, Kennedy & knows in his heart if she just gets to know him she’ll fall for him. But she won’t give him the time of day. She is a stubborn Black Cat & he is such an adorable Golden Retriever. Something happens & he bails her out of an uncomfortable situation but then that somehow lands them into a fake relationship for good PR.
Kennedy soon realizes he is the sweetest, he’s kind & a generous soul who helps the ones he cares for.
I adore that they completely bond over TV shows, movies and delicious food. She’s older & he teaches her current lingo & she teaches him some things too.
This is a funny rom-com that will keep you smiling, laughing and loving their love.

Ice Deke is funny, sweet and spicy with a little bit of suspense that keeps you guessing and I loved it! I love that Kennedy is a strong, independent woman focused on her career goals who at first is resistant to Jordan due to his playboy reputation but eventually warms up to him when she finds out more about the real him. I also appreciate that Kennedy is older than Jordan and that there is so much humor in this book. I rooted for this couple but especially for Jordan since he loved Kennedy from afar for so long. Thank you to author Ellie K. Drake and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this early and for their patience and understanding with the delay in my review due to getting hacked.
OH MY GAWDD ! JJ & Kenni were absolutely EVERYTHING !
Even being filthy stinkin rich- aka Richie rich- he was the most sweetest, selfless, kindhearted man ever ! & hilarious, we cnt forget that. This was an incredible take on reverse age gap. Kenni was definitely a person that was focused on her life her future her career, and didn’t want anything to do with the spoiled, “playboy” persona that was JJ.
after a weird encounter with her co worker, Jj steps in and this fake dating event happened, & it became the sweetest most incredible love story to date—-
& the PLOT TWIST ! Jesus ! I was NOT expecting it at all ! 5 ⭐️ I’d even give it 6! Just amazing.
Ellie.. 10/10 no notes. This book was perfect. Bougie? Perfect. Kennedy? Perfect. Your writing? PERFECT. I'm foaming at the mouth for your next book. Please don't make me wait too long.
Ellie, Ellie, Ellie...what have you done to BOUGIE? Our fun loving rich playboy, at least according to Kennedy and the media, so timid and nervous around the woman who captured his heart. So confident on the ice and in business but add Kennedy to the mix and he anything but. Sure she is older and a complete badass pilot but he is an elite professional athlete. They have both earned their positions with hardwork and dedication to their craft.
Kennedy has faced a lot of skepticism and discrimination because of her gender. Other male pilots have treated her with disrespect even though she probably had more flight hours than they have. They see her gender as inequality and their narrow minded brains feel superior to her. They can't look past her appearance to her resume and vast knowledge of fighter jets, commercial, and private jets. She is one of the best and that is why her employers trust her with the safety of a professional hockey team. She might look like she could step of the cover of a magazine but she is so much more. She has chosen to stay single even though she longs for a family of her own. Finding someone not intimidated by her career and hectic schedule is a challenge.
Jordan, JJ, BOUGIE, is a younger player but being raised by wealthy hard-working parents has taught him to cherish people more than things. He likes luxurious things and spoiling his friends but he works hard on the ice and even harder off the,ice with his multiple businesses and investments. He might lean into the media's playboy image of himself when out with his teammates or red carpets but that is a mask that he wears to protect himself. His teammates and their partners, and his family get to see the real man. He is kind and generous with both his time and wealth. He has been hurt in the past by a woman and now he won't settle for anyone but "the one". Posing with someone is different than being with someone. Bougie wants a long-term partner but flings. He is scared to try again after the pain he endured but he is drawn to Kennedy unlike anyone before. He wants to be hers and is acting like her secret admirer with gifts and coffees.
When BOUGIE overhears Kennedy's new co-pilot propositioning her, something comes over him and he cannot stop himself from protecting her. The shyness and timid behaviour around her is momentarily gone and in place a confident alpha protecting his woman. Not that she needed it because she can handle herself, but the words out of his mouth benefit both of them in a way.
The idea to fake date, is crazy but it might be for the best. Kennedy hopefully gets a more professional co-worker without an HR complaint and Jordan gets an image makeover regarding his relationship status. This also gives Jordan the opportunity to win Kennedy's heart. With time spent together, she will have to see behind the mask to the great man all her friends see. All their friends seem to like them as a couple and are encouraging. Vladi and Maggie seem like their biggest cheerleaders. Jordan understands a hectic schedule and is in awe of Kennedy. He wants the same things she does in a partner. Though after learning about Jordan's past experience, she is willing to help him be the best partner he can be. Soon fake seems more real than not but someone doesn’t like them together. Is someone dangerous lurking, watching and waiting to derail their happiness?
An unknown someone, seems less than thrilled with the idea of Kennedy and Jordan. First it was harmless messages, then photos, then creepy gift, and then it went criminal. Who could hate either or both so much ? Was it hate or was it something more sinister? The obvious suspects didn't seem like the type but there was someone that gave off weird vibes, could they be the culprit? Jordan hoped his security team could track down the threat before it became necessary to involve the authorities. Celebrities and Athletes attract stalkers, could this be the case? Could Jordan and Kennedy's relationship survive the chaos?
I loved everything about Jordan and Kennedy's story, though there were times that I got frustrated with Kennedy's attitude towards Bougie before she saw past the mask. I loved that they took their time getting to know each other and didn't rush into something convenient. When they finally admitted their feelings, they knew that it was real and they were already committed to each other. Putting each other first and protecting them. I will admit, I figured out who was the "stalker" and why right away but I just didn't know how it would be revealed and if someone was helping. Now off to find a diamond encrusted leopard!
Thank you Ellie K. Drake for the ARC and the opportunity to review this book. The characters were amazing and I loved seeing the found family vibes between the players and their WAGs. It was nice to meet JJ's cousin. I wonder if we will see her again. This series is a must read for any hockey romance lover!
The Milwaukee Steel riders world has expanded into book 3 with Ice Deke. Ellie Drake has written a fun, romantic story, with a dash of suspense that will keep readers hooked from the very first page. From a MMC who hides behind the media to define him, while he is so much more; to a FMC who helps break the walls around his heart as she discovers who he truly is; Ellie gives readers an entertaining read while diving into deep emotions. Not everything is as it seems, and the only way to truly know someone is to get to know them yourself.
Jordan “Bougie” seems to have it all. Money, great career, and the ability to get anyone he wants. Expect this is not who Jordan actually is. Yes, while raised in money, he was brought up to know people mean more than things and no one is less than anyone else. He has created a successful life for himself, but not many people get to see the real man behind the persona. Because of this he doesn’t think he will ever find love in the way he wants. Until he lays eyes on the team’s pilot. Waking something up in him that’s been lying dormant for sometime, he is determined to let her see the real him.
Kennedy doesn’t have time for playboys, so that rules out Jordan when she notices him taking an interest in her. She only knows him as the media portrays so is caught off guard when his protectiveness comes out and wards off a pass from a co-pilot. Now to keep up appearances, they are fake dating. But with this fake dating comes the ability for Kennedy to truly see who Jordan really is. Someone she never expected and can definitely fall for. When someone starts to threaten them being together, she will have to decide if fighting for what she wants is worth it.
Jordan and Kenney are irresistible in this book. Ellie has written them so well and watching them fall for each other is organic and easy. While they are the story’s MCs, we still get to see more of the amazing team we love and the found family they have created for one another. So much more than just a team, this series continues to display that book after book. Another hit by Ellie, giving her a hat trick within her hockey romances.
As always, review any author notes before reading.

Ice Deke🏒 Firstly,I want to thank LoveNotes PR & Ellie K.Drake for trusting me with this ARC!💛 Jordan Boucher has THE reputation in the NHL.Rich,playboy,heartless. However, deep inside J knows that this, took away every chance he would ever get to really have a relationship & for someone to fall in love with him. For Her to fall in love with him.
To start with,IT HAD THE BEST PROLOGUE I HAVE EVER READ IN A BOOK!I love this funny, playful vibe & I was so happy when we saw that style again in the story!Generally, the writing was amazing, full of spark and drama (when needed),and Drake could literally shift your mood within seconds if she would. Our main characters were really spectacular too✨ Kennedy,THE GIRL BOSS,who literally was running everything in the✈️ .Apart from that, she was so,so kind, especially to our golden boy. She made a safe space just for him,and made us understand that a woman could be both deadly and a softiel!SO cute! On the other side,Jason is a certified LOVER BOY!!&If I had to wrap up his character in one sentence I would say that,I have read many 5 star stories, but 5 star boys? No.His literally ONE OF ITS KIND.Plus, his story line, honestly, broke my heart :(.As an individual,it portrayed really well how it is to navigate a life, and a name that you did not choose to have, and he really showed us what it can took away from you.Kennedy my girl, give that boy a hug.🫂 At this point, this book was a freaking 5 star for me.Literally, after heated rivalry I was like YES,THAT'S THE BOOK YOU SHOULD READ AFTER. However, something specific happened that was not really my cup of tea. I get that it was something wanted because we have an reference in the early pages, and I would not even mind if it was left like it was after the action scene, and then take us away years after.BUT it got so big that it really ruined my 5 star experience.I could not say this is a bad book. But this is just a little detail that was not for me! However,if you are interested in a hockey, slow burn romance Ice Deke is for you! Out On Feb,20th⚡ 4 ⭐
**ARC Review** Ice Deke (Milwaukee Steel Riders #3) by Ellie K Drake Release date: Feb 20th - Free on KU!
Jordan "BOUGIE" Boucher is the life of the party! His personality is larger than life, and he is over the top in everything he does. This seems to apply extra when it comes to attempting to woo his team's brilliant & gorgeous pilot, Kennedy Kramer. He has had cartoon heart eyes popping out of his head since the moment she first walked onto their team jet, but she goes out of her way to ignore him. Besides being almost 12 years older than him, she knows all about his young, hot, rich playboy reputation, and she has zero interest in it. Kennedy has enough BS to deal with being a female pilot, she doesn't need his brand of nonsense in her life.
When Bougie steps in to get Kennedy out of an uncomfortable situation with her new male co-pilot, he claims he's her boyfriend, so they're stuck fake dating for the season. Bougie is thrilled to have this chance with the woman of his dreams (Kenni is not!), but can Bougie turn on the charm and show her who he really is, instead of the PR persona he's been portraying for reasons nobody but his family knows?
These two have such a hilarious dynamic! He is such a sweet little puppy barking at her feet, and she might as well be a statue for how much he moves her. Even Kenni can't deny that Bougie is extremely attractive, though, so their tension is sky high! Especially after some creepy texts messages start rolling in and they have to stick close together for their safety.
Kenni, I get it. I am a woman in her (late) 30's, and I do not have the patience for a 23-year-old F-boy's antics either. But after we meet the real him, what's left is the sweetest, silliest, most generous little golden retriever puppy! (And have you SEEN his muscles?!) I say go for it!!! 🤣
This book had fun, feels, and *our other favorite F word*, plus some suspense! I love the Milwaukee Steel Riders family! I can't wait to see what's next!
4.5⭐️ 2.5🌶
I read an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review. Thank you to Ellie K Drake and Love Notes PR for the eARC!
After the glimpses we got of Bougie in the first two books in the series, I was PUMPED for his book and excited to see how the dynamic between he and Kennedy would shake out.
A woman in a male dominated profession, the book opens with Kennedy celebrating her friend and fellow team pilot, Benny's, last day on the job before he leaves for his dream job at NASA. Having met in the Air National Guard, they worked well together and had built a good relationship both on and off the plane as friends. While they're out at the club, they run into the Riders where she gets to witness more typical Bougie antics that make her roll her eyes.
Jordan, no longer a rookie but still your typical 23 year old guy, has such good golden retriever energy that just jumps off the page. It's apparent from the beginning of the story though that while he puts on a smile and is perceived one way by the world, he really is a completely different person to those who really know him. If only Kennedy would allow herself to want to know him.
After a series of unfortunate events, Jordan and Kennedy land themselves in a fake dating situation, which is literally the last thing Kennedy wants for the season. A bit of a homebody that prefers to be in her hotel room and out of the spotlight, she finds herself needing to step out of her comfort zone so the media and public believe that they're actually in a relationship.
While they're on the road, that should be pretty easy and allows them to keep their space when they're home in Milwaukee until a potential stalker situation forces them together for the sake of safety. And the more time they spend with each other, the more of the "real" versions come to light.
This book was just a delight. There were so many things that I highlighted that just made me laugh out loud and kick my feet. It's funny, light, and just such a sweet story of two people who are crazy into each other but don't see what's right in front of their own faces. I am so glad that I picked this up, and I seriously can't wait for the next in the series. I will definitely be pre-ordering it to get in my hands as soon as it's announced!
The amount of smiling I did during this book, my face hurts. Jordan and Kennedy were so freaking cute I couldn’t stand it and I did not want this book to end. Jordan was the softest, most kind hearted man and Kennedy deserved him in every way.
Jordan Boucher wants the woman of his dreams (Kennedy Kramer) to finally see him for who he really is and not the persona he puts on for the world. Kennedy Kramer is a bad@ss pilot for the Milwaukee Riders hockey team and cannot stand Jordan Boucher. One night is all it takes for Jordan to finally get his chance for Kennedy to see the real him when they start dating.
Jordan Boucher is the softest, most kind hearted man I have read and I was rooting for this man the entire time. All the nostalgia with 90’s sitcoms, loving Elle Woods and doing a Coyote Ugly dance, I just kept wanting to shout at Kennedy, come on girl, he’s one in a million. The one liners and all the yikes bikes had me cracking up.
Kennedy was a straight baddie in this. I love a reverse age gap like none other and this one was amazing. I loved when she realized Jordan was not what he put out into the world. She just took him in and was like, I’m keeping this one for myself, thank you very much.
I loved the slow burn and the yearning in this book from both of them. Yes, I loved a man who is confident in a book but give me the inexperienced ones who LISTEN and want it to be the right woman. Jordan Boucher was a gold standard man and I loved this book so much.
I did also love the element of suspense in this with the stalker issue. It was small but it gave that little extra touch to this book.

With my OCD (and my love for hockey romance), I knew I had to dive into books one and two before starting book three — and I’m so glad I did. If you haven’t read books one and two yet, you may want to pause and go read those first. Trust me, they are absolutely worth it. While this book could work as a standalone, experiencing Jordan’s evolution throughout the series makes it so much more impactful.
We’re introduced to him early on. We see the version he presents to the world — the show he puts on for outsiders — and like Kennedy, we form our own assumptions (some of which may not be entirely fair). By the time we reach book three, we finally get to peel back the layers and truly understand him.
This installment feels a little different from the first two, especially with the added element of fear woven into the storyline. It adds tension and emotional weight that raises the stakes in a really compelling way.
One thing I absolutely love about this series is that every FMC is a badass in her own way. Each woman has her own talent and identity — even if it isn’t widely recognized — and they bring depth to the story. These aren’t just gold-digging wives; they’re fully realized women with strength, purpose, and presence. Kennedy is no exception. While she faces the hardships of being a woman in her field, she is also incredibly accomplished in her own right, and that balance makes her character feel authentic and powerful.
I’m always drawn to series that build a “made family,” and this book really solidifies that theme. The first two books hint at lifelong connections, but in book three we see that familial bond truly take shape. This entire series has been amazing — each book feels like another piece of the heart being placed around the family table, slowly building something whole and lasting.
And that twist? I definitely did not see it coming until it was right in front of my face.
Reverse Age-Gap Black Cat x Golden Retriever Hockey Player x Pilot Fake Dating Romcom Spicy Lessons She's annoyed - He's obsessed Found Family Hockey Romance No 3rd act breakup Romcom
I don't have much experience with relationships, but I know my heart. It lost its will to find love a while back; it hasn't wanted to beat for anyone. Ever. Until you.
"He's everyone's fairy godfather, meddling in their lives in order to get them together with their fated mate like he's some magical spirit from the fictional world of Eltayne or something." - in reference to Johnny the bartender. He is someone we all want to have in our lives. Plus I'm a sucker for a reference to "fated mates".
"God, what do I wear? What says, 'I like you, and I respect your boundaries, but also want to rip your clothes off, tie you to my bed, and sit on your face?' Jeans?" - Kennedy. I mean... it's a valid inquiry.
"Jordan Boucher does not let his woman cry. He performs the grand gesture of running to her through an entire arena with Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith playing in his mind to show her what she means to him." - If Bougie didnt already make me swoon, this quote would have had me, what a perfect romance movie moment and with the perfect song.
The way I anticipated this read! I was waiting for Bougies story! And Ellie did not disappoint.
This book follows Jordan "Bougie" Boucher - a hockey player and the teams pilot Kennedy Kramer. These two don't normally have much interaction, mostly due to Kennedys perception of Bougie being a player and not wanting to give him the time of day, until one night in a bar when Bougie thinks he is coming to her 'rescue' from an encounter with a sleezy new coworker and they end up in a fake dating scenario. With close proximity, the two will get to know each other better and find they have more in common then they think. I can totally relate to Kennedy she gives off black cat energy and touch him and ☠️ vibes. She is such a baddie and I loved her. Jordan has a heart of Gold and we protect him no matter what 😍 all his one liners had me cracking up and loved All the nostalgia with 90's sitcoms references. The slow burn yearning between these two as we see them growing closer. The chemistry undeniable. And the surprise added suspense, I enjoyed this read so much! Devoured!! 💯 recommend this book 😍😍😍
Wow!!!! Just Wow!!!! Bougie has stolen a piece of my heart forever. He is what book boyfriends are made of. The way he was in loved and devoted to Kennedy was everything. I loved all the 90's movies and shows references. It took me back to my younger days. Bougie was fully in his element and had no issues being his authentic self. He was younger than Kennedy but he is an old soul at heart. He has the heart of a true gentleman. He was everything that Kennedy never thought she needed. She though Bougie was just some rich boy that played games and she wanted nothing to do with him or his money. She was the only one to take the time to see what he was really about. Bougie wore his heart on his sleeves and had no problems letting those around them see him as his authentic self. He kept parts of himself hidden from everyone because he was hurt so badly as a young man. The things that he went through hurt my heart and I don't blame him for being so guarded with people. When someone you thought you could trust hurts you it breaks a part of your soul. Kennedy was the perfect woman for him. She was kind, compassionate, and understanding in a way that is not common these days. She helped him overcome his emotional trauma in a way that worked for them both. She got him in ways that many women would not. They were perfect for each other in all ways. This author did a fantastic job of keeping you engaged and wanting more from start to finish. I could not and did not want to put this book down. I laughed and cried at times. This book made me so happy and I seriously cannot wait for it to come out in audio. I cannot wait to see who this author picks as our guy Bougie. Do not get me started about wanting the next book in this series. The author left us wanting more in the best way possible. I am so happy I found this author because each book in this series has been absolute perfection.
I knew from the previous books in this series that Jordan Boucher was going be a fun time and this book did not disappoint! He’s been head over heels for Kennedy Kramer since the moment he laid eyes on her after stepping onto the team plane. Now, although he comes across as a confident Playboy, really Jordan is very vulnerable and shy. Just when he thinks he’s never going to get his moment with her he intercepts her copilot getting a bit too familiar with her at the bar after an away game, and they end up in a fake dating situation - but reality is, it’s never fake for him. Kennedy thinks that Jordan is an entitled ‘Richie Rich’ type man and says it to his face! She quite literally despises him! But slowly as they begin to fake date she realises that he has a pure heart and despite him only being 23 years old and nine years her junior he’s actually an old soul and that they have so many things in common. They become best friends and slowly she realises that he’s pulled down her walls and made her fall in love with him. He makes her softer, she gives him confidence where he’s lacking. There are so many good funny one liners in this book that you will laugh out loud at their antics. The way these two fall in love was just perfect. You won’t be surprised to know that Kennedy likes control and that Jordan actually really likes taking orders from her -wink wink! She ends up ‘coaching’ him in the bedroom and let’s just say he is a great student!! He can take direction very well, kudos to him! Jordan was an outstanding golden retriever who finally got his girl, while Kennedy is a strong independent woman who didn’t realise she needed a hot and younger, heart felt hockey player in her life to show how how a real man should act. Fab!
"Ice Deke" is the third book in the Milwaukee Steel Riders series. I have been eagerly awaiting Jordan “Bougie”’s story, and I’m truly in love with him! I knew he would be a totally swoon-worthy book boyfriend. I also adore Kennedy, the badass pilot with a black cat and a reverse age gap.
Jordan is hilarious when it comes to Kennedy. With just one look, he’s completely smitten, but he has no clue how to talk to her or even that he’s interested in her. Unfortunately, Kennedy only sees the image he projects to the world as a playboy, which is the furthest thing from who he really is.
When Kennedy needs help from a coworker, Jordan happens to be nearby and steps in, claiming that they are dating. This sparks their fake dating relationship. Once Kennedy gives Jordan a chance and really gets to know him, she ends up falling for him just as hard as he has already fallen for her. It’s the sweetest and cutest thing, and I found myself kicking my feet in the air, yelling "Finally!" I was so happy.
The chemistry between Jordan and Kennedy was off the charts, especially during her coaching sessions for him. I loved that she let him have a safe word to use at any time, showcasing the maturity, understanding, and support that are so important and healthy in a relationship.
The mystery text added another layer of suspense and drama that had me flying through the pages. I’m also a sucker for found family, and I loved how his teammates and their wives supported both Jordan and Kennedy, seeing right through the fake dating and knowing they were truly meant to be together forever. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Yall….. Jordan/JJ/Bougie is probably in my top 3 book boyfriends right now. I normally like to start reviews with the FMC, because ya know feminism but OMG. I love him. Although don’t get me wrong, Kennedy is also super cool herself.
Jordan is a NHL player in both senses of the word, Kennedy is the team’s pilot. She’s older, and thinks he's an annoying rich playboy. He’s been obsessed with her for a while, giving her secret gifts but also scared to talk to her. When an obnoxious guy won't stop hitting her, Jordan steps in (much to Kennedy’s annoyance) and now they’re fake-dating. On top of this, Jordan has been receiving weird anonymous texts, telling him to stay away from Kennedy.. wth?
Her being the spice coach to him, and her being older was so good but it also wasn't like “oo younger man wants an older woman” no, Jordan wants Kennedy… I loved all the pop culture references that spoke to my millennial loving heart. I loved that Jordan’s best kept secret was what a great guy he actually was. The heartbreaking reason why he has the playboy persona. The thriller twist we get throughout, and then the end! I don’t even have room to get into the banter, found family and spice you know I love…
I just loved this book. If you enjoy a strong FMC, fake dating, spice coaching (she coaches him), black cat x golden retriever I highly recommend checking out Ice Deke.
This was my first Ellie Drake book, it is book 3 in the Milwaukee Steel Riders, an interconnected standalone series and I have already downloaded book 1. Also super excited about book 4!
Ice Deke by Ellie K. Drake completely won me over with its mix of humor, heart, and a romance that feels both playful and surprisingly emotional. From the first few chapters, I was hooked on the dynamic between Jordan and Kennedy. Their chemistry is the kind that sparks through banter, stubbornness, and those quiet moments where you start to see past the surface. What I loved most is how the story peels back the layers of both characters, especially Jordan, whose reputation does not quite match the person underneath. Watching that softer side emerge made the connection feel genuine and deeply satisfying.
The vibe of this book hits that sweet spot between rom com fun and emotional depth. The fake dating setup brings plenty of entertaining tension, but it is the character growth that really carries the story. Kennedy’s grounded confidence paired with Jordan’s determined devotion creates a dynamic that feels both entertaining and heartfelt. There is also a touch of suspense woven in that adds an extra layer of intrigue and keeps the story moving without taking away from the romance at its center.
By the time I reached the end, I was smiling and completely invested in this couple’s journey. If you enjoy hockey romances with strong personalities, witty dialogue, and a hero who is absolutely gone for his girl, this one is an easy recommendation. It is fun, heartfelt, and the kind of book that reminds you why fake dating stories can be so irresistible when done right.
Tropes: • Hockey romance • Fake dating • Age gap (older heroine) • Black cat x golden retriever • He falls first • Hockey player x female pilot • Romantic suspense elements • No third act breakup
I had been anticipating this book for a while, but I kept putting it off—mostly because the more I hype a book in my head, the more likely it is to disappoint me. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here at all.
Jordan—JJ, Bouchie, whatever name he’s going by—has been quietly harboring a crush on Riders’ pilot Kennedy. She’s a total badass: a skilled pilot in the Air National Guard, sharp-tongued, guarded, and completely unimpressed by Jordan. To her, he’s just another rich, arrogant playboy. Little does she know, she’s about to have all of her assumptions challenged.
When circumstances force them into a fake relationship, Kennedy’s judgments start to unravel. The more time she spends with Jordan, the more she begins to see who he really is—and inevitably, she starts falling for him.
Because beneath that carefully crafted bad-boy image, Jordan is genuinely kind, thoughtful, and deeply scarred by past betrayals. He’s not nearly as confident as he pretends to be—in fact, around Kennedy, he turns into a nervous, mumbling mess. And honestly? That was incredibly refreshing. I loved that he felt real. He’s not your typical hyper-dominant, “touch her and die” alpha male, and that made him stand out in the best way.
The chemistry between them is fantastic. I especially enjoyed the age gap (Kennedy being 11 years older), her unapologetic strength, and Jordan’s vulnerability. All of it came together beautifully, and I was completely invested in their story.
That said, I’ll probably skip the next book, since it seems to lean toward an MFM romance—which just isn’t my cup of tea.
Oh, Bougie…where do I even begin with you. His inner monologue was absolutely hilarious, and I loved every rom-com reference sprinkled throughout especially the nods to classic favorites. As someone who grew up watching Saved by the Bell, his pregame ritual had me smiling. I mean who doesnt love a Zack Morris time-out reference!!
Now, Bougie and Kennedy...wow!!! Their relationship may not have been traditional, but it was so good. Their chemistry was undeniable and completely magnetic, and watching both of them grow throughout the story was incredibly satisfying. Seeing Bougie slowly lower his walls and truly let Kennedy in, in every sense, was one of my favorite parts of the book. I also loved how this story perfectly balanced the sports aspect with the romance. It never felt like one overshadowed the other. And the “texter” portion well that kept me on edge. I was so caught up in everything else that I totally missed the clues and I loved being surprised.
If you love hockey romance with bite and heart ICE Deke deserves a spot at the top of your TBR. 🏒🔥 Ellie continues to be a must-read author for me, and I can’t wait to see what she delivers next. And honestly, if you ever get the chance to meet her, do it - she’s just as amazing in person as she is on the page. 💙📚
What To Expect: 🥞 Fake Dating 💛 Reverse Age Gap 🏒 Hockey Player 👩✈️ Pilot 🌶 Spicy Lessons
This book has a FMC who excels in a male dominated profession, airline pilot, and is tough, razor sharp and doesn’t put up with much.
Initially, Kennedy can’t stand Jordan/JJ/Bougie because she thinks he’s a rich playboy. He is also 9 years younger than she is and she thinks his antics are childish.
Bougie has been crushing on Kennedy for months and secretly sending her crazy gifts hoping she’ll start to warm to him. He portrays the rich playboy persona, but the man behind that mask is completely different and the most green, green flag of a MMC ever.
The fake dating scheme happens in the spur of the moment when Bougie steps up and claims Kennedy is his girlfriend, and then his stalker outs them publicly. The fake dating plan forces Kennedy to take the time to get to know Jordan, and their relationship slowly gains emotional depth and heat. Jordan has to open up and show Kennedy his real self, the man behind the outgoing personality he shows the world.
I loved the mix of heat, heart, humor, and high-stakes emotion. These two are the perfect pair, and completely opposite of traditional romance tropes.
- Reverse age gap - He describes her attitude as a mad cat that comes at you with its claws. - She scares him sometimes, and he likes it. - Touch him and die vibes (once she gets to know him and he tells her about what happened in his past) - She’s more experienced than he is
I really enjoyed this book!
