Jordan “Bougie” Boucher has a reputation – one he didn’t earn. The star NHL defenseman plays the part of a rich young playboy who doesn’t take anything seriously, and he lets everyone believe it—because it’s easier than explaining the truth. Thinking his love life was cursed, he’d almost given up on finding something real. Until Kennedy Kramer stepped onto the team plane. The gleam from her pilot wings caught his eye and lit up something inside he thought he’d never find again—the light at the end of the tunnel. Her.

The only problem? She wants nothing to do with him.

Kennedy Kramer, the Milwaukee Steel Riders’ no-nonsense pilot, has zero patience for the antics of Jordan Boucher. To her, he is exactly what the media says he is—an arrogant, spoiled, entitled rich boy. She’s determined to ignore him…until an uncomfortable run-in with a co-worker forces her to agree to fake date him.

What started as a convenient lie quickly spirals, especially when anonymous messages warn them to stay away from each other. But with his dream girl finally within reach, there’s no way Jordan is backing off. Not when she starts chipping away at the cracks in the mask he wears every day—and not when she surprises them both by wanting to know the man hiding underneath it.

But just as the chemistry builds between them…so do the threats.

Ice Deke is a laugh-out-loud hockey romance that will make you blush, swoon, and keep you on the edge of your seat.

*Time-Out* (said in Zack Morris’ voice and gestures)
This is a must read perfect hockey romance.
Book 3 of the Milwaukee Steel Riders Hockey series, this book can be read as a standalone or read it as a continuation to the Ellieverse.

This book follows Jordan “Bougie” Boucher - a hockey player and the teams pilot Kennedy Kramer. The two don’t normally have much interaction, mostly due to Kennedys perception of Bougie being a player and not wanting to give him the time of day, until one night in a bar when Bougie thinks he is coming to ‘rescue’ Kennedy from an unpleasant encounter with a skeevy new coworker and they end the night in a fake dating scenario. Now the two will get to know each other better and find they have more in common then they think and stereotypes are not usually fact.

Kennedy is my kind of girl and I relate to her so much being she is a ‘black cat’ who is a ‘touch him and die’ type of girlfriend.

My millennial heart also absolutely loves all the references to pop culture from the 90s and early 2000s. So many good scenes in this book have call outs to some of my favorite movies, tv shows and songs.

Quotes that I highlighted because …

“He’s everyone’s fairy godfather, meddling in their lives in order to get them together with their fated mate like he’s some magical spirit from the fictional world of Elfayne or something.” - in reference to Johnny the bartender. He is someone we all want to have in our lives. Plus I’m a sucker for a reference to “fated mates”.

“I love my family, but found family are like a warm hug on a shitty day.” - Kennedy in reference to the awesome ladies that are the other half of the Riders.

“God, what do I wear? What says, ‘I like you, and I respect your boundaries, but also I want to rip your clothes off, tie you to my bed, and sit on your face?’ Jeans?” - Kennedy. I mean… it’s a valid inquiry.

“Jordan Boucher does not let his woman cry. He performs the grand gesture of running to her through an entire arena with Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith playing in his mind to show her what she means to him.” - If Bougie didnt already make me swoon, this quote would have had me, what a perfect romance movie moment and with the perfect song.

Ice Deke🏒
Firstly,I want to thank LoveNotes PR & Ellie K.Drake for trusting me with this ARC!💛
Jordan Boucher has THE reputation in the NHL.Rich,playboy,heartless.
However, deep inside J knows that this, took away every chance he would ever get to really have a relationship & for someone to fall in love with him.
For Her to fall in love with him.

To start with,IT HAD THE BEST PROLOGUE I HAVE EVER READ IN A BOOK!I love this funny, playful vibe & I was so happy when we saw that style again in the story!Generally, the writing was amazing, full of spark and drama (when needed),and Drake could literally shift your mood within seconds if she would.
Our main characters were really spectacular too✨
Kennedy,THE GIRL BOSS,who literally was running everything in the✈️ .Apart from that, she was so,so kind, especially to our golden boy.
She made a safe space just for him,and made us understand that a woman could be both deadly and a softiel!SO cute!
On the other side,Jason is a certified LOVER BOY!!&If I had to wrap up his character in one sentence I would say that,I have read many 5 star stories, but 5 star boys? No.His literally ONE OF ITS KIND.Plus, his story line, honestly, broke my heart :(.As an individual,it portrayed really well how it is to navigate a life, and a name that you did not choose to have, and he really showed us what it can took away from you.Kennedy my girl, give that boy a hug.🫂
At this point, this book was a freaking 5 star for me.Literally, after heated rivalry I was like YES,THAT'S THE BOOK YOU SHOULD READ AFTER.
However, something specific happened that was not really my cup of tea.
I get that it was something wanted because we have an reference in the early pages, and I would not even mind if it was left like it was after the action scene, and then take us away years after.BUT it got so big that it really ruined my 5 star experience.I could not say this is a bad book. But this is just a little detail that was not for me!
However,if you are interested in a hockey, slow burn romance Ice Deke is for you!

ARC Review of Ice Deke by Ellie K. Drake

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶🌶.5/5

Oh, Bougie…where do I even begin with you. His inner monologue was absolutely hilarious, and I loved every rom-com reference sprinkled throughout especially the nods to classic favorites. As someone who grew up watching Saved by the Bell, his pregame ritual had me smiling. I mean who doesnt love a Zack Morris time-out reference!!

Now, Bougie and Kennedy...wow!!! Their relationship may not have been traditional, but it was so good. Their chemistry was undeniable and completely magnetic, and watching both of them grow throughout the story was incredibly satisfying. Seeing Bougie slowly lower his walls and truly let Kennedy in, in every sense, was one of my favorite parts of the book.
I also loved how this story perfectly balanced the sports aspect with the romance. It never felt like one overshadowed the other. And the “texter” portion well that kept me on edge. I was so caught up in everything else that I totally missed the clues and I loved being surprised.

If you love hockey romance with bite and heart ICE Deke deserves a spot at the top of your TBR. 🏒🔥 Ellie continues to be a must-read author for me, and I can’t wait to see what she delivers next. And honestly, if you ever get the chance to meet her, do it - she’s just as amazing in person as she is on the page. 💙📚

The epitome of the phrase “looks can be deceiving”.
Jordan Boucher, aka Bougie, is a talented enforcer in the NHL with a reputation of a playboy and the team’s class clown. He believes everyone needs a good laugh and does everything in his power to achieve that. The only person he can’t crack is Kennedy Kramer, the team’s pilot and the beautiful older woman he has been pining for.
Kennedy is professional, put together and the exact opposite of Bougie, who she can’t stand. She is determined to ignore him and his antics.
Unfortunately, her determination will fade once they are forced into a fake relationship.
Her perception of Bougie slowly starts to chance, as the real Bougie comes alive in her presence and they find a lot of things in common.
Ice Deke is a reverse age-gap, fake dating romance that shows how you can judge a book by its cover and come up short of reality.
Ellie K. Drake gives us a slow burn story about love at first sight, genuine fears, undeniable chemistry, sense of belonging, sizzling banter and one-of-a-kind love.
Ice Deke will surprise you as the MMC is not ordinary nor is it your typical one. Bougie is sweet, original, innocent, hilarious and supportive and will make you fall in love with him and his story.
Thank you for the ARC.

ARC Review
I liked the idea of this book. I love a reverse age-gap, fake dating, hockey romance. It had everything I tend to gravitate in a book. The thing that took me out of the book was the writing at times. This was an emphasis on their age difference (referencing repeatedly that he was Gen Z and she was a Millennial). While there is nothing inherently wrong with this reference it became the language that was used to emphasize their differences. The language did not always resonate with me. I also wanted to spend more time seeing how they got to know each other and fall in love as the story progressed. There were a few time jumps and some emphasis on how they could not spend time together because of their schedules...so how are they getting to develop their feelings more? I know not everything can be written because that would make every book like 700 pages but this one had 400 so I guess I wish I had seen more dates or even text exchanges to help the relationship develop deeper. I liked it for being a relaxing read with some lower feeling stakes but I guess I wanted a little more.

I have been looking forward to this book because Bougie is one of my all-time favorite characters! He’s sweet, funny, caring, and sensitive… all while being a total bad*ss hockey enforcer. A walking green flag.
He’s had a major crush on Kennedy, the team pilot, for quite a while but has been too shy (and honestly too nervous) to actually talk to her. Instead, he decides to send her anonymous gifts as a secret admirer, hoping to butter her up and eventually work up the courage to tell her how he really feels.
Kennedy is such a strong female character. She’s eleven years older than Bougie and sees him as nothing more than an immature rich kid who doesn’t take anything seriously. But when he helps her out of a sticky situation, she agrees to fake date him. As time goes on, she slowly starts to see who he truly is—not just the image he portrays to the public.
I always love a fake dating trope, and this book definitely hit the spot. I’ve loved every book in this series, but I have a feeling this one is going to stay at the top for me ❤️

Oh Jordan Joseph “Bougie” Boucher, you sweet, spicy green flag of a man! I enjoyed reading about Bougie so much!
His chemistry with Kennedy was off the charts and the spice between them with the power swap in play was so fun to read. It’s not every day you get a man willing to take direction as well as Bougie did. Kennedy was fierce, confident and sexy in the way she handled Bougie and all that he brought to the table.

We had a thread of mystery in the book that made you think about what could be happening to these two. I loved all the movie references put into this book. Rom-coms and hits from the 90’s made my nostalgic heart skip a beat. Bougie takes the top spot as book boyfriend with his sunshine and chaos and swoony antics.

Cannot wait to read it again.

Thank you Ellie and LoveNotesPR for allowing me to receive an ARC of this! I’ve been a huge fan of the first two books and the third installment did not disappoint.

Jordan and Kennedy were such fun characters and it was great to get lost in the MKE Steel Riders world again. Jordan will do anything to prove his love to #unbothered Kennedy and I love nothing more than a fake dating trope.

Ellie is fabulous with a one liner and made me laugh out loud more than once. “What in the Eras Tour?”

Don’t blink or you’ll miss a nice nod to Hailey Rodger’s Colorado Storm as well! ❤️

If you love a hockey romance with lovable characters, top tier banter and more pop culture references than you think possible, this one is a must read.

Cute cute cute CUTE!!

I'm not sure what I was expecting going into Bougie's story....but what I got was lots of giggles, plenty of blushing, and lots and lots of rooting for that sweet sweet Bougie of a man!

He was absolutely the star of the show (as I'm sure he's fully aware). I loved his heart, his humor, and his absolute obsession towards Kennedy.

He is down bad, doesn't want to fight it, and is on a mission to make Kennedy really his.

Not to mention, the many nods to millennial nostalgia was so strong and each and every time it brought so much joy!

These two play a really fun role reversal than we are used to seeing in sports romances and it was so fun to read!

overall: recommend

Book 3 in the Milwaukee Steel Riders series, and despite loving book 1&2, this is my favorite yet! Bougie is a dream, Mr Green Flag central, I knew he was going to be the one to steal my heart. Of course he’s popped up in the previous books, but never judge a books by its cover because y’all NEED Jordan and Kennedys story! From the cutest cursing ever to scary talking bears and a cross over cameo, this one is not to be missed! And I’m already really impatient in waiting for the next installment from this team! This one is headed straight for my ‘must re-read’ again pile.

I have been looking forward to this book because of the MMC…in the two previous books we were introduced to Bougie and he stole the show with his likeable character. In this book we got to see what drives Bougie and find out his past.
The FMC was strong and independent which was perfect for the MMC. I loved that she was a pilot.
This book had some mystery and who done it vibes going on as well.

*I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, this is my personal and truthful review.

That moment you can 100% relate to a character…it was the best moment for me haha! “that you hid behind me when that damn bear started talking?” I snort. “That’s fair. But I also thought maybe your badass self could keep me safe, too.” “From evil stuffed animals?” “It’s an epidemic,”

Jordan had so much to offer Kennedy she didn’t even know it. The humor and kindness in this was unreal! The special trip he took her on a the grilling that came from melted my heart. And then her special moment. My goodness , I love them!

Ice Deke is a riveting hockey romance that combines a reverse age gap, a black cat/Golden retriever duo, and an obsessed MMC, with elements of fake dating, one bed, slow burn, stalking, and a surprise pregnancy. This book follows a man who falls deeply in love at first sight, a woman who epitomizes strength and independence showing just how much of a boss babe she is, and the thrill of hockey, all while navigating the ominous presence of an unknown stalker.

Oh Bougie, he was everything and more than I wanted. He is the ultimate golden retriever but also hilarious and fully himself. Kennedy is a strong, tough, caring and smart FMC. It was so hard to put this book down once I started and kept me hooked the whole time. Now I'm just sad it's over.

Thank you Ellie for an ARC!
