Book One of the Redemption Series

Born the daughter of a prostitute and branded a sorceress, Adalet has never belonged. When her mother’s death forces her into the palace of her estranged father—King Elron—she is thrust into a world that despises her blood and fears her the ability to see into souls.

As the black sheep of the royal family, she learns to survive among sharpened tongues and hidden daggers. But when Emperor Roak of Ro arrives, demanding peace in exchange for one of Elron’s daughters, Adalet becomes an unlikely pawn. Roak was meant to choose a princess. Instead, he sees her—the outcast with fire in her spirit and secrets in her gaze.

Drawn together by a dangerous fascination, Adalet and Roak are swept into a storm of politics, prophecy, and forbidden desire. Yet shadows stir beyond the palace walls. Old wounds bleed into new wars. And every choice Adalet makes will test the line between damnation and redemption.

In a world where love is treachery and survival is a gamble, can a girl scorned by her own blood become the empire’s salvation?

For fans of dark fantasy romance and slow-burn passion, Karma begins the sweeping Redemption Series, where power collides with destiny—and love might cost everything.

Karma (Book 1, Redemption) - Kat Majewski

I was very lucky to get a copy of this book from the author, in exchange for my honest review.

Kat Majewski writes tales all about love, sacrifice and redemption with rich worlds that can fill the readers' imagination. However, when Kat isn't writing, she is raising her two sons, immersed in her life of Motherhood.

Adalet is the unwanted daughter of the King, King Elron. Left to the care of her mother, forced into a life of prostitution and sorcery at a young age. That is until her mother’s passing. Forced to defend herself from her mother’s clientele, she is forcibly removed from the only home she has ever known and forced to live with a father she has ever known and one that still refuses to publicly acknowledge her.

For the next while Adalet lives her life as the black sheep of the royal family, tries to form bonds with her sisters. Yet the only one that ever treated her with any kindness was her sister Peony, both formed a sisterly bond in a place that never quite felt like home to either of them.

King Elron, their father, has been trying to broker peace with Emperor Roak, ruler of a neighbouring Kingdom of Ro. And it's fair to say they rarely see eye to eye, yet in exchange for peace and their armies, King Elron is willing to give his eldest daughter’s hand in marriage.

Except Roak doesn’t do what Elron expected him to do. Instead of choosing his eldest daughter, Roak finds himself drawn to Adalet, and glad to be free of her Elron lets her go.

Adalet goes with Roak to the Ro, not knowing what to think or to expect. Though one thing is for sure she doesn’t let this or anyone for that matter dull, her personality or the fire that burns within her.

But by no means does this mean peace for either kingdom; treachery and foul play have Roak and Adalet caught up in politics, prophecies - as well as the growing obsession between the two, slowly building as each day passes.

Adalet thought needs to make a choice, and if she is not careful, the damnation of her past will ruin it all.

“Karma” is a dark fantasy story with slow burn romance, where love might just be enough to cahnge the course of ones destiny. This was such a gripping and addictive read that I just devoured. What I really enjoyed about this book was the fast pace of the story telling and the imaginative plot twists that happened as the story progressed. I loved the way Karma was written, with everything she went through she was still strong and herself, and did not back down. I loved reading about the bonds she formed with Triss, Cain and Maddock, and even how her bond with her sister Peony deepens. She really grows and comes into herself, accepting her past and truly just being herself. Roak is so understanding and accepting of Adalet, who she is and her past, it's a beautiful bond to see. The story ended on such a cliff hanger I was bit like what, that's it?! So, I am eager to read the rest of Adalet’s and Roak’s story and hope they get the happy ending they deserve.

What a great story of found family, redemption, sacrifice.
Kay did an amazing job with this story. It shows that no matter what life throws at you, if you keep pushing and fighting, good can come out of anything, as long as you believe in yourself and stay true to who you are.

Karma has been through hell her entire life, her mother a prostitute, her father a king who wanted nothing to do with her, but was forced to allow her to live in the castle when her mother takes ill and passes away. Forced into a life that she didn’t want all thanks to her mothers doing, she fights through it and get the life she never thought possible.

I absolutely love the relationship between Karma and Roak. The found family she has come to love as her own in so many characters throw this story. It’s beautiful and I loved it.

She Survived the Darkness… He Recognized Her Power

Slow burn dark Romance check your trigger warnings. Karma‘s redemption pulled me in from the very beginning . This is one of those stories where the tension build slow and steady but when it hits you feel it karma is such a powerful female lead she been through more than most could survived carrying deep trauma an scars, but refuses to stay broken and.Roak he’s that quiet, controlled, commanding presence. The kind of man who doesn’t need to raise his voice to own the room. The plot keeps you hooked with its darker elements emotional death, layered characters. It’s not just romance. It’s survival, healing and power wrapped into one!

“This book did what 6 other books couldn’t… it got me out of a reading slump.” 📚🔥

⭐ 4.5 Stars ⭐

Karma by Kat Majewski was such a unique and engaging read that it completely pulled me out of a reading slump. Her style of writing was very refreshing.

From the very beginning, the story kept me invested through its multiple POVs, emotional depth, and constant twists and turns.
Just when I thought I had figured things out, another revelation would appear, keeping me fully engaged until the very end.

Let me just say she gave all kinds of villains to despise in her storytelling not just one.

One of my favorite aspects was the found family dynamic. Combined with themes of redemption and sacrifice, it gave the story an emotional core that made the characters easy to care about. The FMC’s sarcasm added humor and personality throughout, while the slow-burn tension kept me eagerly turning pages. The MMC is a person that you can easily fall in love with despite all his hidden secrets.

I also loved discovering the small Easter eggs hidden throughout the story. They added an extra layer of enjoyment and made the world feel even more thoughtfully crafted.

Beyond the story itself, one of the things I appreciated most was the experience surrounding this book. Kat’s engagement and passion for her work enhanced my reading journey and made me feel even more connected to the story and its characters. I think I may had made her misguided with some of my “theories!!”

Overall, Karma is a refreshing, unique read filled with memorable characters, emotional moments, and plenty of surprises. It kept me on my toes from beginning to end and left me eager to continue the series.

I’ll definitely be picking up the next books because I need to know how this journey ends.

“That’s how you know it’s real-not some spell, not some illusion. He love me in my weakness, in my ruin, in every jagged part of me.”

Karma is a fantastic fantasy romance! I love the found family our FMC gathers around her. Siggy and her cute little toddler speech stole the show for me. And the way she gets the king to play hide and seek. Loved it.

Now, what the heck was that ending? I need book 2 now please!

Karma's journey from heartbreak and hardship to finding her strength had me invested from the start! Ienjoyed the slow burn romance between Karma and Roak, but the found family aspect stole the show for me. Watching Karma discover where she truly belongs was both beautiful and inspiring. That ending though!! Wow!! This is a powerful book about healing, redemption, and never giving up on yourself. 💜📚

6 of 5!
Fierce and feisty FMC + Powerful and possessive MMC = easy 5 stars. Add in CHOSEN/Found family; a wee bit of magic and mysticism, and there aren't even really notes to give. THEN add in the drama of trying to outwit her horrendous birth family, and overcoming trauma, and BELIEVABLE character growth (from multiple characters)? Ok, lets face it, this is actually a six star read. This was wonderful, just enough magic to make my whimsical brain feel like MAYBE I COULD be within the story. So, what are you doing? Read this book already.
