Ilia is a kickass vampire wanting revenge on the one vampire that ruined her life. She doesn't care if she isn't strong enough to defeat Sol. She's willing to die just to get her chance. But over the centuries, her search ends up empty.
Although she has been looking for the enemy, she has been trying to avoid another. Kyle was Ilia's first love, but they have a painful history that's hard to get past. I found Kyle a little immature and sometimes annoying, but he had a lot of good qualities.
When she finally goes to her home town, she is surrounded by her loving friends that all share her feelings. They also discover that Sol is looking for something in their town, and he isn't under the radar anymore. The war is on, but Ilia feels something for a vampire on the wrong side. There's something about Nathaniel, and Ilia has a strong connection with him.
The love triangle between the characters was okay. I like feeling torn, but Kyle wasn't my favorite to begin with so I was heavily leaning towards Nathaniel. I really liked most of the characters and the plot, but the writing style took some things away for me. Other than that, this really was a home run, and I can't wait to read the next book!

I started reading this book at about 10pm. That was a big mistake. The book grabs you and doesn't let go. The author drags you into a highly detailed world. The characters were complex and there were several snigger inducing moments along the way. I loved that the book touched on an incredibly sensitive topic without making it too light or going too far the other way and over complicating it.
There were a couple of spots where I felt the relationships between characters overshadowed forward movement of the action but they didnt detract from the story for me.
The ending? It didnt quite hit me the way I wanted it to. First it's a cliff hanger, second I knew it was a cliff hanger before the end and third, I wanted to be emotional about it but it didnt quite make it. Maybe that was because I could see the cliff looming.
All in all it was a brilliant book and I am looking forward to picking up the next one. For a debut novel the author writes like she has been publishing forever. In fact Norah Roberts would be the author i would most liken this author too. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal romance with vampire and shifters.

That Ending!!! Cliffhanger Alert! But Oooo… was it worth it!
Fractured Immortals by E.L. Wicker is officially going on my “gotta catch em all” list. What an amazingly exquisite roller coaster. Props to you E.L. Wicker! This book has it all: witches, shifters, and vampires “Oh My.” I have absolutely fallen head over heals for this book and here’s why…
Ilia has spent the last two hundred and four years seeking the destruction of the man who ruined her life, Sol. Not only has she been consumed with vengeance, but has been unsuccessfully nursing a broken heart caused by her first love, Kyle. Due to Sols recent appearances, she is forced back to the one place all of those painful memories originated from, her hometown-Bearwood. Together, Ilia and her friends Lana, Lucas, and Kyle formulate a plan to take down the man who destroyed that which they loved and adored, their home. What Ilia didn’t plan on, was falling in love with sex-on-a-stick Nathaniel Dayton.
As many readers know, an interesting story by itself doesn’t make a good book, the author does. Lots of people have interesting ideas formulating in their head, but they lack the ability to convert the story to paper.

Fractured Immortals is riddled with twists and turns that will keep you up laughing, crying, yelling, and mind numbingly silent. This is because the author does an excellent job describing the world in which her captivating characters reside. What makes them so captivating? Because they are human with human emotion and human mistakes. Lots of books are somewhat predictable and their predictability causes me to skim through certain paragraphs, sections, or chapters. However, I had to read every sentence down to the last word in order to keep up with the recent developments within the story. The author also did a great job switching from past to present. Remember, these characters have been around for more than 204 years. I truly enjoyed the changes in the witty dialogue from past to present.
I will admit that for some reason, I had a hard time getting into the first chapter. However, I think it was more me than the authors writing/hook. My only question in regards to the story other than the obvious (“What happened to Nathaniel”) is what makes these vampires different from other vampires. Stakes and sunlight can kill them… OK… But are they dead? Do they still have functioning organs? What happens once they are turned? Recovery phase? Bloodlust? Garlic? Mirrors? Can they reproduce? Diseases? I was a little confused about the “heightened emotions” thing. If they are so engrossed by feelings and emotions when they drink blood… why are some vampires so blood thirsty and perfectly fine with killing innocents. I might have missed something and in all honesty I am being picky because this book was fabulous!
Would recommend to anyone and everyone who is into pnr!

Wow, just wow. I really really loved this book! The characters were all very likeable and genuine. the author did a great job building the world around them , and bringing the story together. There are a lot of twists and turns, which I love, and E.L. Wicker really keeps you guessing throughout the story.
Ilia is searching for the man that ruined her life. When she discovers he’s run to the one place she’s running from, she’s forced to go back to her hometown, Bearwood. Along with her friends Lana, Kyle, and Lucas she will hunt Solar and end his life, once and for all.
While waiting for Sol to show up Ilia meets Nataniel. Despite the evidence he’s working for her enemy, Ilia can’t fight her attraction to him, especially when he seems to show up whenever she needs him most. But Nathaniel is keeping secrets and as they begin to unravel, Ilia must decide who to trust. With her long lost love battling to win her back, and Nathaniel in the picture as well, Ilia must decide who she loves more. As tempers flare and danger rises Ilia begins a gut-wrenching battle to save her life and the lives of her friends, a battle which not everyone will survive.
Ilia faces many obstacles in Fractured Immortal. In her human life she suffered a devastating loss that still fuels her pain. As she tries to deal with her past and move on, we get to see a strong young woman. Her past is awful and made me want to kick her parents asses! The author did great job jumping from past to present, it was interesting seeing the differences in speach, clothing, and manners. I was on an emotional roller coaster reading this book! I cried, I laughed, and I yelled at this book, but in the end it was all worth it. I couldon't put this book down!
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal romances or NA.

This was a fantastic read about vampires, witches, and shifters. The story revolves around Ilia who was turned into a vampire along with her friends during the 1800's and who wanted revenge from the villain who caused their lives.
At the beginning, I thought it would be a love triangle because it seemed two guys were vying for her attention but it turned out that one ship has sailed while the other is a new beginning. This had a lot of suspense and it was quite a page turner till the ending especially with those twist and turns in the plot that I freaking did not see coming. I felt like a cartoon character who has an exaggerating jaw drop. But I do loved it. I also liked the romance aspects especially when there was more than one couple forming.
The characters were likeable especially those twin witches. Ilia was in between for me since there were parts I adored and understood her while the other was just annoyed with her stubbornness. She has a complex relationship with Kyle especially with their history. I really felt for them and I understood her reaction towards Kyle. He had his chance and he blew it even though it was a long time ago but some things can never be forgotten even if forgiven.
Nathaniel was dream-worthy especially when Ilia described him. There was a foreshadowing moment there for me which I was right about but not totally dead on and as such I was surprised by those events.
I was hoping that this would have a temporary ending but I knew I was wrong given their situation in the end and not to mention ththe epilogue. That was a total cliffhanger. In th back of my mind, I had a feeling and I was right again but the question for me was how?
Looking forward to the next book.

Autumn in the Appalachians is a special kind of beautiful. That is the setting for this energetic tale. Ilia returns to Bearwood, her hometown, in search of Sol, who is responsible for the murders of her friend's family (and for her vampirism).
She is staying with her besties, Lana (shapshifter) and Lucas (vampire). Then Kyle shows up...Lucas' older brother and also the person Ilia has been running from since the 19th century. Because the last time she saw him, he betrayed her. Ilia promises to try and get along with him because they need his help to fight Sol, after that, she may just skip town again.
This story has a little bit of everything; revenge, love, magic, and even a touch of enlightenment as Ilia discovers the truth about the night she was turned into a vampire.
I can't say which part was my absolute favorite, but I loved when Kyle takes Ilia to the forest and shows her a secluded area that holds something near and dear to both of their hearts. It's a very touching moment.
I'm hoping to read the next book soon. I really want to know more about Nathaniel. I also want to see what, if anything, is going on with Ilia and Kyle. Recommended to everyone, but especially anyone who likes new adult books with some vampire flair!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal).
This book pretty much has it all: vampires, shifters, witches, childhood friends, and a blooming romance. What’s not to love? I certainly couldn���t find anything.
Let’s start with the characters. I really liked the relationship between Ilia, Lucas and Lana. The strength of their friendship regardless of time or distance spent apart was awesome to see. We all should hope to have that type of friend in our lifetimes. I was a little leery about Kyle in the beginning, but I came to understand him as the book went on and actually started feeling bad for him. It was nice to see his place in the friendship begin to solidify again.
The plot was very fast paced, but in a good way. For me, it just made it harder for me to put down. Every time I would think I would have a major plot point figured out, something would happen that would blow my theory out of the water. I absolutely love it when authors can keep me guessing like that.
While it was a cliffhanger, I wasn’t upset with the ending. I just simply can’t wait to for the next book to come out so that I can find out what happens next!

E.L. Wicker makes a spectacular splash into the world of paranormal romance with her debut novel, Fractured Immortal.
Wicker's attention to small detail pulls you in and allows the reader to clearly envision each scene as it unfolds. Her description of each site, sound and smell illustrates the surroundings in a way that makes you feel as if you were truly there. Her characters are complex and yet believably normal in the way they interact with one another. As a romance junkie and without giving away any spoilers, I must admit, at one point in the book, I wasn't at all happy with how the romantic storyline was going, but then it all comes together perfectly and you can't imagine it any other way.
With vampires, witches and shifters, there is array of concrete characters that pulls this action packed story together completely immersing you until the very end where a cliffhanger leaves you dying to know more.
I loved it and cannot wait for the next book in The Bearwood Series.

This book isn't like the others about vampires. The reason I loved it is because it flows easily from present to past and back again. It was also really engaging - emotionally and mentally. It made me laugh, smile and cry. When a character you love dies you keep turning pages expecting him to come back to life but when it strikes you that he is really gone, the sorrow is inexplicable. And it was so sudden too. I absolutely loved this book.

As always, this is not a spoiler-free review.
Loooove me some good vampire fluff mixed with brutal angst and a
To me, all the scenes in the past reminded me of the flashback scenes from Vampire Diaries, which is great because I loved those particular scenes. Wicker brings up this great sense of nostalgia and comfort, letting you sink into this fictional world with ease, while also combining that comfort with stunning descriptions of an exceptional setting.
Now, I won't gush on everything. I took issue with how quickly Ilia forgave Kyle, and how quickly they resumed a tentative friendship. I would have liked to see the uneasiness and the awkward and the bitchy fighting drag on until the last possible moment. I think it would have made their tension a little more exciting. I also would have liked there to be more subtlety in Lucas and Kate's budding romance. A little mystery and intrigue would have gone a long way, rather than readers knowing almost immediately that they were digging each other.
Overall, a fun book with plenty of tension, romance, and angst! Great for paranormal fans!

I thought this book was going to be good just from the description, but I was vastly unprepared for just how great it was going to be. Fractured Immortal focuses on one vampire in particular, her name is Ilia. Her vampire existence has been very sad and very alone. She chooses to separate herself from her friends until she gets word she finally has her chance to catch up with the one vampire she wants revenge on. She travels back home (Bearwood) to face the past she'd rather forget and learns that exacting revenge may prove to be harder than she originally thought. I really did like Ilia, but she did get a little annoying with her emotional drama and refusing to drink blood. She kind of needs the red stuff to survive!! Anyways, I absolutely love her friends!!! They are so understanding, I just know I couldn't do the things they do. We meet Nathaniel who is a VERY, VERY hot vampire (in more ways than one). He saves Ilia's butt more than once which needs saving way too much. I think she finds trouble on purpose. For a vampire she gets in way too many accidents. I did love how Ms. Wicker had a new take on vampires that is completely different from the usual nowadays. The only problem I have with this book is the KILLER cliffhanger!!!!!!! This is a really great book and I recommend to the more mature audience of the YA spectrum to New Adult because of some certain scenes do get a little graphic in the details. I am definitely going to be reading the next book!!

She travels back home (Bearwood) to face the past she'd rather forget and learns that exacting revenge may prove to be harder than she originally thought. I really did like Ilia, but she did get a little annoying with her emotional drama and refusing to drink blood. She kind of needs the red stuff to survive!! Anyways, I absolutely love her friends!!! They are so understanding, I just know I couldn't do the things they do. We meet Nathaniel who is a VERY, VERY hot vampire (in more ways than one). He saves Ilia's butt more than once which needs saving way too much. I think she finds trouble on purpose. For a vampire she gets in way too many accidents. I did love how Ms. Wicker had a new take on vampires that is completely different from the usual nowadays. The only problem I have with this book is the KILLER cliffhanger!!!!!!! This is a really great book and I recommend to the more mature audience of the YA spectrum to New Adult because of some certain scenes do get a little graphic in the details. I am definitely going to be reading the next book!!

I purchased this book the day it was released with plans of it being my holiday read and I was not disappointed. For a debut novel, the author has done a wonderful job with a story that grabs your interest from the very beginning and keeps it until the last page. Great plot, continuous character development, well defined interpersonal relationships, and plenty of action with amazing fight scenes that were written like a seasoned writer.
Fractured Immortal is the first of a series and as anticipated, it ended with a cliff hanger. A testament to a good story, it had me immediately wanting to know what happens next which is all I could ask for as a reader.
A disclaimer: I know the author although we have never physically met (there is this ocean that separates us). I started to read what I believe was a final edited copy of the book in Word format about a month before its release. I quickly read six chapters and wanted more but I am not one of those readers who can read on a computer. I paused because I wanted the reading experience to be as it was intended to be so I anxiously awaited its release. I’m glad I did. I am proud to have Emma Wicker as a friend and am extremely impressed and proud of her as a writer. What an amazing first effort!
I am looking forward to the next book in The Bearwood Series.

>Ilia is a vampire returning home. She has spent the last 2 hundred years searching for the vampire who killed so many in her hometown. She has also spent that time running from Kyle, an ex lover. As Ilia and her friends plan how to take out vampire Sol and a nasty witch, Nathaniel and Alex are introduced. Both are vampires and Nathaniel and Ilia have an instant connection, which is a bit awkward around Kyle.
>The story has quite a few flashbacks to explain how the friends were all turned and how evil Sol really is. I felt the flashbacks were the best parts of the book. The parts of the book taking place in the present fell flat. There was a lot of waiting around. The explanation for the magical dagger was confusing as well. I did like all the characters and I hope the second book fleshes them out a bit more.

I started to read this before Christmas and read a few chapters trying to get my head around the characters. Once I came back home and started reading again OMG was I hooked, I spent the whole evening reading the rest.
This book gave me romance, action, drama, chaos and there were parts that made me cry and it's been ages that an author has actually made me cry.
The story line was done perfectly the way the characters were thought out and when she introduced them, I just loved it there was a lovely flow to the book.
I liked the storyline behind Ilia the main character and the love relationship between her, Kyle and Nathaniel because of the intensity behind both of them.
You have to read the book the cliffhanger is really good too I can't wait for the next book.

Fractured Immortal E.L. Wicker
What an excellent read. I simply could not put this one down until I'd read every word leaving me hungry for the next book in the series ! Beautifully written , this wonderfully descriptive book transported me to another place . I laughed and I cried , gripped in the story unfolding , which is a rarity in itself ! Far superior to Stephenie Meyer ( shoot me down for that ! I really don't care ). This is E L Wickers first book , which is surprising considering it is the best book I have ever read in this genre, and absolutely no typos to spoil it which was very refreshing, and so to surmise : Beautifully Written , Perfectly Edited , Seamless Story Line . What more can you ask for ? This new author is definitely someone to watch.

With her debut novel, Fractured Immortal, E.L. Wicker makes her mark in paranormal romance as an author to watch. A story that transverses so many emotions, one cannot help but turn page by page until the very end. With a number of vampires, witches and shifters, I found the authors ability to add depth and allow the reader to form a strong connection with each one, truly amazing. She has a knack for writing clear and vivid descriptions, as well as, some tough action scenes. Add that with a complicated romance and you get a well thought and nicely paced story that leaves you on the edge of your seat when it ends in a cliffhanger.
If you Like paranormal romance, The Bearwood Series is definitely one to read.

This is one of those books that grabs you by the throat with the first sentence and refuses to let go. While paranormal romance is not my favorite genre, this one hooked me and held me all the way to the end, then left me wanting more. Bravo!
The characters, especially Ilia, the leading lady vampire, all have both breadth and depth, the handiwork of an obviously gifted author. It's hard to believe this is her first novel. She displays an extraordinary expertise and deftness in her craft as she pulls her readers' heartstrings in one moment and then pulls them to the edge of their seats in the next. The shocking cliffhanger at the end makes one salivate in anticipation of the sequel. Bravo again! Highly recommended!

Fantastic debut novel, really well written and quite a different take on the otherwise over-saturated vampire genre. Really easy to read and very involving that ends with quite a cliffhanger. I know a book is good when I can see it as a film as I'm reading and this was no exception. Only criticism is that, once again, a British/Irish writer assuming an American voice is bound to get some terminology and idioms incorrectly, however there was a minimal amount that didn't detract from the story (I have come across much worse and from established authors), so all credit to Ms Wicker for doing a great job.

I thoroughly enjoyed this debut novel by E.L Wicker. The 'blurb' above outlines the story very well, so I won't repeat it here. E.L Wicker has an engaging style, crafts well-rounded characters and knows how to put them in interesting (and perilous!) situations that keep you turning the page. Fractured Immortal is the first part of a series and sets up the story very well for the later parts, whilst being a solid novel in itself.
I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in Vampire stories. There are a lot of Vampire tales out there to choose, but I'd definitely suggest taking a risk on this exciting new series. Be warned – it's not for kids!

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. If you're thinking, "Oh right. Another vampire book..." stop it! I'm not much of a paranormal fan. Even less of a vampire fan. I am, however, a huge fan of books that keep me interested from page one until the end. E.L. Wicker did that with this action-packed tale. It's a love story, but the love story takes backseat to the rest of the story. The premise says it all. A vampire tale like none other. I liked Ilia a lot. She's a kick ass heroine. Pick this book up today and hang on! It's going to be a bumpy ride. The book is well-written and I'm looking forward to book 2! Take a chance on this book, you won't be disappointed!

I received this book in exchagne for an honest review.
I really liked this book. It was an twist on witches, vampires, and immortals. Mixing a little bit all together. The story moved fast, but never seemed to skip. I hope Kyle has more of a presence in Ill's life in the next installment. I can't wait to see in what state Nathaniel will be in.

Witches. Vampires. Shifters. Magic. This book has it all. Great characters and fantastic battles. A bit of romance, a kissing book...which is not my favorite, but I dealt with it. An interesting story of good versus evil, wonderful descriptions of magic that made me very happy. And there is more to the story...

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to. There were a few grammatical errors that always made me pause, but it wasn't enough to keep me from wanting to read the next book in the series. I would've liked a little more background on Lana, but maybe that will come in a future book.

...So, what did I like about it?
I was very impressed with Ms Wicker’s first attempt at a published novel; her writing style and how she crafted her story. I felt that her tale’s timeline was easy to follow (even when our main character flashed back to the 1800s) and the locations used throughout this story were beautifully described; utilising all of the senses.
I understand that Ms Wicker has studied Social Science at university meaning that she understands our human society, social relationships and the implications of the myriad of interaction and choices we make every day. This may be the reason why the characters felt so real to me; the deep platonic friendship/bond between Ilia and Lucas, her valued friendship with Lana, the emotional turmoil between Ilia and her first love, Kyle and Ilia’s unrelenting obsession with hunting down and killing Sol.
Please be warned, there are a few very traumatic, violent scenes in this book that some readers may find disturbing but I think that Ms Wicker handles them very eloquently, giving us enough graphic detail to shock us with the horror of each situation but then balances that out with expressive prose to convey our heroine’s viewpoint and her emotional state of mind.
This story made me smile, cry, growl in frustration, blush and kept me turning the pages.
...So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Honestly, not much.
The final chapter in this book is a “present day epilogue” which does leave us with a bit of cliffhanger ending. Now as my regular followers will know I HATE big cliff-hangers, however, this isn’t what I call a life threatening cliff-hanger, e.g. “our heroine is running through the wood to escape her captors when suddenly she falls off a cliff…” or “…comes face to face with her enemy, who’s pointing a gun at her…” because those sort of endings leave the story up in the air and are very frustrating. In this case, however, a bit of a cliffhanger was not unexpected as it is only two book series after all.
...So, basically what I’m saying is...
This paranormal romance story gripped me from the very first chapter; it’s got tears, angst, fighting and pain but it’s also got love, passion and laughter. Although Ms Wicker is a huge fan of Young Adult (YA) fiction and is labelled an author in this genre, I feel that Fractured Immortal has more “gritty/explicit” scenes than the average YA novel which some younger YA readers may feel uncomfortable with.

I wanted to like this book because of all the great reviews I saw... but I honestly couldn't. The main character is weak, flighty, and kind of idiotic. None of the supporting characters have proper back stories. The main romance is totally unestablished and makes no sense to me. And the plot is dully predictable. And a lot of the vampire concepts are inconsistent. Overall, this book was frustrating to read, I barely made it to the end.

Eh??? It was ok. The storyline was interesting enough but not enough of the characters were interesting enough for me to want to read the next book. If I do, it will only be because of the ending of this book. That character does seem a little intriguing.

Fractured Immortal is the first book in the Bearwood series by E.L. Wicker. After over two hundred years of running from her horrific past Ilia Rose must go back to the one place she never wanted to return to, and see the one person she never wanted to see again just to catch and kill the one man she thinks started it all. It isn’t until she meets the handsome Nathaniel that her true past comes to light and the things she thought she knew about that horrible night really aren’t what happened and the world as she knew it is gone, replace with an uncertain future but a future she knows she wants to share with Nathaniel and her friends. Her version of that horrible night over two hundred years ago may have changed but her friends versions have not and Sol is not only a murderer but now with an evil witch by his side can potentially hold the power to not only destroy her, her friends and the man she loves but the humans in the world will be in more danger than ever. Ilia and her friends must do all they can to ensure this doesn’t happen. Ilia and Nathaniel are not only connected by the love that has grown between them but also by a magic they never knew existed. As they learn the truth about their gifts can they be strong enough to fight Sol and Selena or will they fail all of the people they love and lose the battle?

There were a few instances where I thought that it could speed up a little but for the most part It was great and I can’t wait to get started on the second book.
