Reading romance novels is my greatest joy—especially interracial romance. Naturally, I was excited when I came across the blurb for this book. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly faded within the first few pages. Still, I decided to continue, hoping the story would improve. It didn’t. The editing overlooked several details, the writing felt sophomoric, and the premise was disappointingly weak.
A Gift From The Universe by B. L. Frazier is a heartfelt story about love, pain, and the courage to start again. Dr. Bellatrix “Bella” Tatum seems to have the perfect life a successful therapy practice and a wellness brand that inspires others. But behind her strong image hides a woman still recovering from heartbreak caused by her ex, Maverick Tate. When Breaker Miles enters her life, he brings warmth and hope that slowly break through her walls, teaching her that love can still exist after loss.
What I truly liked about this story is how real Bella’s emotions felt. She isn’t shown as flawless she’s strong yet afraid, healed yet still hurting. Breaker’s patience and honesty reminded me how love can feel simple when it’s genuine. The connection between them isn’t rushed; it grows naturally, with moments of hesitation, laughter, and truth. It shows that even after pain, the heart always knows when it’s ready to try again.
The writing style of the author is very easy and natural. The emotions are clear, and each chapter pulls you closer to the characters. I liked how the author didn’t just focus on romance but also on self-discovery. Bella’s struggle to choose between her past and her future felt very real and emotional. The story teaches that sometimes, healing doesn’t mean forgetting it means being brave enough to move forward.
I would recommend A Gift From The Universe to readers who enjoy meaningful romance with heart and depth. It’s for anyone who has loved, lost, and learned to open up again. The story gently reminds us that life often gives second chances, and love can appear when we least expect it. This book left me thinking about how important it is to let go of fear and believe in new beginnings. ❤️
A Gift From The Universe by B. L. Frazier is a story that felt very real and close to life. Bella has everything success, confidence, and a good career but her heart is still not healed from her past. Her old relationship with Maverick left her hurt and scared to trust again. Then comes Breaker Miles, a man who slowly brings light back into her life. Their bond starts with strong attraction but turns into something much deeper as the story moves on.
While reading, I could really feel Bella’s pain and fear. I think many people, including me, have been in a place where we want to love again but are too scared to try. Breaker’s calm and caring nature made me smile because it showed that good people still existthe ones who don’t run away when things get hard. The story reminded me that sometimes life gives us another chance, even when we think we don’t deserve it.
The writing is simple and very easy to read. I finished the book in 5 - 6 days because I wanted to know what Bella would choose her painful past or a new beginning. I liked how the author mixed emotions, romance, and healing in a smooth way. The love scenes were written naturally, without overdoing it, and the feelings between Bella and Breaker felt honest.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has ever loved and lost. It’s a story that gives hope and shows that healing is possible. I really enjoyed reading it and felt connected to the characters. A Gift From The Universe is a warm and emotional read that stays with you even after the last page. ❤️
I had to force myself to finish this book. It was way too drawn out and read like it was written by a high schooler. Was there even a plot? Why does every time Maverick shows up, the author ends the scene with some form of, "he finally accepted it was over between them." He accepted this 15 freaking times during the book. Obviously, he didn't accept it and his behavior was a giant red flag and the police should have been called. Ugh. One of the s3x scenes was good, the rest were written like they were by someone who had never actually experienced s3x and had no clue how it happens. They kiss. IT happens (does it?? Who knows? ) and eventually everyone wakes up from postcoiltal bliss. "What happened? Where are we?? I'm satisfied but want more? Let's do IT again." And then *fade to black. * The timeline was a mess. A serious mess. Nothing was in order, everything read all mixed up. Cute premise, terrible execution. I literally skimmed the last 3rd I was so bored out of my mind.
This was such a good somewhat friends-to-lovers romance. The chemistry between the main characters felt natural and I loved watching their relationship develop into something deeper. The friend group added so much warmth and humor to the story. The writing flowed effortlessly fe beginning to end. The interracial relationship and family dynamics were handled beautifully and felt authentic. I love how Bella handled Breaker’s dad! I also connected with the ex who wouldn’t let go. It was the perfect tension without being over the top. Overall, this book had just the right amount of drama, heart, and spice.
If you believe in fate, this is the read for you. A Gift From The Universe leans into the "Insta-love" trope with full force, delivering a story where the connection between the leads feels like a literal collision of stars. From the moment the characters meet, the chemistry is undeniable. The contrast between the male lead—a rugged, tattooed professional (the blueprints are a great touch!)—and the elegant, radiant female lead creates a magnetic tension that drives the story forward from page one.
