Getting lost in Munich's Christmas market was supposed to be a minor detour, not a complete life transformation. My vacation is meticulously planned—four countries, two weeks, and a return to Chicago where I'll figure out what's left of my derailed career.
The Christmas market is just another checkbox on my tightly scheduled itinerary.
But when I literally lose my way among the twinkling stalls, a handsome ornament maker with skilled hands and kind blue eyes comes to my rescue.
And suddenly, everything I thought I wanted begins to unravel.
He creates beauty that lasts for generations. I've built a life around disposable achievements.
With my tour group moving on to Vienna, and my real life waiting back in Chicago, I'm faced with an impossible the safe, predictable path I've always followed, or a leap of faith into a love I never saw coming.
Some connections are too precious to abandon, even when they require changing everything you thought you knew about yourself.
Cute Christmassy romance to get you in the festive mood.
Elana and Oskar were cute together and their love story was believable. The Hallmark-esque level of giving everything up for a man slash finally realising everything you ever did in your career was bad, was very high in this book, though. (Elana did realise that herself, which was a funny meta moment.)
Elana’s inner monologue made me laugh at times, especially: “Yeah, I’m efficient even in my escape from efficiency.”
Minus points for not letting the tour guide know you are safe in an unknown city! Even if you think she is a drill sergeant.
3.5 stars rounded down.
I received an ARC of this book (thanks!) and these are my own opinions.
one of the most touching and bittersweet about Munich is the mixture of old and new. fires in the once wooden building filled sections, bombing and re-arting under the NS regime, reunification that really built some new things and paved over others
but the sections where bombed or burned buildings and locales are at least partly preserved, so that the people will always remember - it's a world city with old world flavors, and pieces of globalization in an ever changing world market - and within long range missile range of certain not so friendly entities.
I really enjoyed a walk down memory lane, with two young folks who had the courage to follow their hearts, and seek new possibilities in commerce, life and love.
Elana heads to Europe for Christmas to check out the Christmas markets when she doesn't receive a promotion at work. She is enjoying it but them gets lost. Oskar, who owns an ornament booth with his family, helps her find her way back to he tour group. But he is enthralled with the American woman and they make plan to meet. Is this just a friendship or can it be more with them working on different continents?
I em enjoying this cute series of quick stories. The characters are fun. I enjoy seeing how someone might move to another country for love.

While on a well needed vacation Elana is checking out the Christmas Markets where she finds more than she expected to. Oskar owns an ornament booth at the Munich Christmas market. When Elana gets lost Oskar comes to her rescue and sparks fly between them. This is a sweet Christmas romance with likable characters, a sweet storyline, and a great ending. Kisses in Munich is a standalone romance and a great addition to the Christmas Market Romances series. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Elana is on vacation in Munich and gets lost in the middle of the main Christmas market. Oskar is an ornament maker who sells them during the Christmas season. This is a legacy from his grandfather that sometimes overwhelms him. This story is interesting, with love developing quickly and unexpectedly. I like both characters; Oskar is humble, and Elana is a hard worker, tired of working for a company that didn’t deserve her. Truly a fantastic love story. I don't know how many more books to expect in the series but I'm here for it. Highly recommend reading.
