ECO: THE LITTLE ELECTRIC TAXI is a cute, rhyming picture book that is sure to delight young vehicle lovers. Eco is an electric taxi, who is very quiet and good for the environment. When a passenger misses the school bus and needs to get to school, Eco is there to help! However, on the way, they run into a traffic jam due to a duck family stuck in the road. Although the cars are loud and scary, Eco is very quiet and able to help get the ducks across the road safely.

What I loved: This is a really cute story that young readers can really enjoy. They will understand wanting to help the ducks and the coolness of this particular taxi. The book addresses some of the benefits of electric vehicles in reducing noise and exhaust pollution in cities with a backmatter author's note giving additional context and information.

The illustrations are absolutely adorable throughout. They have a cartoonish and colorful look that will charm young readers, and the eyes/look of the taxi make it very cute. The text is lightly rhyming which also works well, with plenty of car sounds to be said aloud throughout.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the text does not always have a great rhythm, particularly around the sounds, so some of the rhymes seem to get a little lost. It is sometimes tough to tell exactly which order the text should be read in, as some of the sound words appear in the middle of the page instead of with the remaining text.

Final verdict: ECO: THE LITTLE ELECTRIC TAXI is a cute picture book about environmentalism, helping others, and city life that is perfect for young vehicle lovers!

Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.

This adorable picture book is a perfect choice for young readers to begin learning about protecting the environment from noise and air pollution produced by traffic on our roads. The included Author's Note provides information that teachers can use to expand a curriculum in learning about our environment.

Eco and his driver Charlie work all day. They are very helpful in getting people to their desired destinations. They work in a city that has problems with heavy traffic and they do their best to help with the pollution problem. They encounter a mother duck and her babies one day and the ducks need help in crossing the road. The ducks are afraid of all of the noise that the heavy traffic is producing and Eco with his driver Charlie come to the rescue.

This charming story may remind readers of the classic story Make Way for Ducklings. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. The text is written in rhymes for language development.

Eco: The Little Electric Taxi is recommended for ages 4-7. It was published by Penguin Workshop, a division of Penguin/Random House. It has an ISBN of 978-0-593-88696-0.

This charming picture book introduces young readers to Eco, a little electric taxi with a big heart, while weaving in themes of noise and air pollution. The story is simple and sweet, making it especially accessible for younger children.

The illustrations are so much fun, they are bright, detailed, and full of personality. Kids will likely be drawn to the expressive scenes and especially the adorable ducks. The sound effects sprinkled throughout make it engaging and interactive, encouraging children to join in as they listen or follow along with loud HONK!s or little beeps.

The conflict is resolved quickly and gently, which makes this a great choice for a calming bedtime read. Overall, it’s a cute, eco-conscious story that combines an important message with warmth and playfulness, perfect for Earth Day and little ones who love vehicles, animals, and stories with a happy ending.
