Christina Sutton is a bright-eyed small town girl that has been through the highs and ends of life at such a young age that she feels that she has been dealt the worse that life has to offer, until she meet Gary Klein.
Gary Klein is a corporate man, born with a silver spoon in his mouth. When his eyes lock with Christina's for the first time, he felt something. He knew she was someone special.
Will Gary be able to convince Christina to give him a chance? Christina has become the object of Gary's affection, but she feels that she isn't good enough for him. Will she run him off or give him a chance?
I wanted to love this book. I really did. I tried, but failed. My biggest pet peeve is an author who cares nothing for proper grammar, spelling and most of all: abbreviation. I want to read dialogue between characters, not a damn textbook. It makes conversations sound too formal and unbelievable. No one actually talks like that in real life. Speaking of dialogue, it was lacking. Some of it didn't even make sense! For example: "I'm good at fixing other peoples' problems, just if I could fix my own, but there is no fixing my problems." WTF? Also, shouldn't an author know the difference between 'allot' and 'a lot?' As for the story itself, I thought it was weak and most of the time, boring. At one point, Gary invites his two friends over to play 'I Never' with Christina. Are they adults or high school students? Come on. Then one day Chris decides to go on a shopping spree and spends 750k. Seriously? And when invites her two friends from Missouri to visit then asks them to move to New York too they agree instantly! Was I supposed to be reading a fairy tale or something? Even the sex scenes were bad. Aside from the formal dialogue making it sound ridiculous, the author doesn't know that there is a difference between cum and come. It had potential and I kept waiting for it to get better but it just didn't happen. *I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review*
*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review* I really wanted to love this book but it was just an okay read for me. Sadly, it did not pull me in and I finished it out of determination and obligation towards the author who handed me a free copy of this. The things I did not like are essential to make me love a book. First of all, there was too much dialogue for my taste. I wanted the author to make me feel the story, not describe it to me. It felt too clinical. There were several storylines unfinished and the attraction between Chris and Gary felt rushed to me. I couldn't really connect with the characters and that made me lose interest pretty fast. The introduction was promising but the rest of the story did not leave up to my expectations. This had potential but... 3 stars from me.
Never Again started out very promising but unfortunately it ended up being just an okay read for me.
While I liked both Chris and Gary, and I even liked the story line, I had a really hard time connecting with it. I felt like I was being told the story rather than experiencing it which really ruined it for me.
The dialogue fell kinda flat and could really use some editing to make it seem like people are actually having a conversation in this century.
Overall, while I ended up finishing it, it's definitely not something I would read again.

What a story I felt like I was watching a CBS minnie series special. The fluidity of the authors writting is very captivating. I look forward to reading more of your literary art Author Angela McConkey
This is a Prime Example why Too Many Story Lines in a book, Does Not Work! The book begins with a horrible tragedy that drew me in. I just knew that this book was going to be amazing. I could have been more wrong. There are too many story lines in here that aren't complete. This book tells you about the tragedy but, there is no closure, no finality and no story about healing or surviving. You are just wondering what happened immediately after.
Fast forward 3 years, Christina is now helping companies in need of repair. She is hired at a company that is losing a half a million dollars a day Not only does she help the company but, she also volunteers to help the company owners, spoiled, self absorbed adult son Gary. ( for a million extra dollars) Once she speaks to the employees and get them to take a pay cut, that's the end of the company storyline. You never find out how she helped repair the company because once again, there is a incomplete story.
By Chapter Three, I was ready to give up. Christina thinks that the son Gary, is a spoiled brat but, starts hanging out with him after work, on her first day on the job. They're having dinner together every night and going clubbing, so how is that helping him become responsible? Here we have yet another incomplete storyline. There is never any mention of her helping the son Gary at all!
Then you throw in Christina's brother David, who is a real bad guy. We never find out why he did the thing he did in the past or why he is doing the things that he is doing in the present. We also have Charlie and Benj 2 friends of Gary's and Susie and Mandy 2 friends of Christina's. These 4 people add absolutely nothing to the book, they were just fillers.
Finishing this book was an up hill battle for me!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
This is the first book I read from this author and based on this book, I can honestly say I'm interested in the author's future works. The book was a quick read for me, but it had a lot of character development throughout the novel and the characters were fun to read about. I personally can't wait to see what the author has next in store for us!
Christina Sutton has faced many challenges in life. From being abused in her childhood, to having, and losing her family as an adult, while at the same time being in an abusive relationship. Her life wasn't easy and she honestly doesn't believe anyone could love her. Why would they? When every person in her life thought she was worthless and treated her like dirt?
Gary's father owns a very prestigious business. A business that, due to neglect and oversights, is failing. In desperate need to fix his dying business, his father hires Christina, a woman who goes to companies like theirs and fixes the problems they have so their business will once again thrive. Gary expected a lot of things, but he didn't anticipate falling hard for Christina. For the first time in his life, he wants something that he can't have, but if he could only show Christina that she is worth the world, he might be able to be with the woman of his dreams.
This book was very entertaining and I love all the humor that was incorporated. Although, I wish the main character wasn't so weak and grew a backbone earlier on, I still enjoyed the story-line and the character development.
I recommend this book to everyone! It was an quick, enjoyable book.
My favorite quotes:
"I would say a woman after my own heart, but she already has my heart."
"It's like you make me a whole person. You complete me."
"I don't know what the future holds, none of us do, but I know I am strong enough to make it through anything."
"So, I'd like to propose a toast, to Gary and Chris, I love you both and want your first son named after me!"
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and that's exactly what I'm going to give you. Did I absolutely love this story? No. Do I believe the author has potential? Absolutely!
The beginning really pulled me in. I thought, holy cow I'm in for one emotional ride! Well it had me crying happy emotional tears at the end but it was a long way in between.
Firstly, I didn't 'feel' the attraction between Chris and Gary from the beginning. His love for her was very evident by the middle of the book but there was little chemistry. I felt for Chris and what she had experienced in her life but their relationship could have been a little deeper or more intense. At points the dialogue bordered on formal.
The story was enjoyable and I didn't once wish I wasn't reading it. The sex scenes were great though it was a little difficult to comprehend the many firsts and the innocence portrayed during sexual interactions, given Chris had been married previously.
All in all, I feel there were a few holes in the storyline and character development could have been a little stronger. I would explain the writing style as 'explanatory'. A little too much of 'I did this', 'then I did that'. It would have been great to 'feel' more of the story than to simply read it.
In summary, it was an enjoyable read and I'm happy to have read it. I will be reading more of Angela's work in the future. I feel her writing has potential and will mature beautifully as she develops further as a writer.
This is my first book by Angela and I was not disappointed at all. This book caught me from the very first few pages. After reading the first few pages I literally had tears running from my eyes. I felt so sorry for Christina. She went from having a normal life to her whole world being turned upside down. The books moves to several years later and Christina is doing better but she doesn’t think she will ever be loved. As the book goes, we get more story about how Chris’s life was and it she had a very difficult life up until she meets Gary. When I first met Gary he was very whinny and annoying and I thought I am not going to like this guy if he acts like this the whole book. You can tell instantly that he is attracted to Chris but she fights him for a while. I love how Gary changed overnight because I wanted him to be a good guy. Watching the changes in Chris too were heartwarming. I love how we also get a glimpse at the friends in each Chris and Gary’s life. When Gary met Chris’s mother for the first time I wanted to punch that woman in the face. I am so glad she came around because Chris had such a rough life already. There are twists and turns in this book that keep you guessing what will happen next. I really enjoyed this book and I loved the ending. I look forward to more from Angela.
Reading 'Never Again' by Angela McConkey has to be one of my best decisions Iv ever made! The author was kind enough to give me a copy in exchange for an honest review. I can honestly say this book fast became a new favourite of mine, it is funny, heart wrenching, sexy, joyous and everything anyone wants in a book!
The author manages to get every possible emotion out of you in this truly amazing story. The characters 'Christina' and 'Gary' are well written and easy to love, all characters in this story will stick with you and are very realistic and easy to imagine, which I personally don't find in most books
I have to say this was my first experience with Angela McConkey's writing and I can honestly say she has written her way to the top of my favourite list already! I'm looking forward to any other books she writes and will definitely recommend this book to everyone as I can guarantee you'll love it!
Gary Field is the man every girl wants and Christina Sutton can have him - if she wants him. Chris has had a hard life growing up - abused, neglected and solitary. Gary has had everything you could ever want... How will these two polar opposites react when thrown together at work. Chris has been hired by Gary's father to sort out the family's company As they work together closely, their business relationship turns into something more Can Chris let go of her past and accept that Gary truly does want more than just work from her? Will an intruder from the past separate them forever? This book was exceptional from first time author Angela McConkey. I cannot wait to read her future novels. Hopefully they are going to be as addictive as this one was. Thank you Angela for a heart warming and romantic read.
Gary and Chris meet through Chris being brought in to help with Gary and his dad's company. Gary is a different person from the first meeting with her. Something he can't explain. Chris who is a strong and lonely woman, is trying to make it day by day. She thinks she deserves to be alone and unhappy but Gary thinks differently and with a business type relationship takes a turn to romance. Gary is very protective of Chris and wants her happy. And cared for, things that have never been for her. Great book by Angela. Hope to read more from her.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. It's a really good captivating story. The prologue alone gets you hooked and wanting more. Chris's story is quite tragic but the way she learns to overcome all the hardship she has suffered with the help oh agar you is just breathtaking. Gary is such a nice guy and so incredibly understanding of Chris's needs. This book has all the elements to make it a good read, it's got drama,is emotional and has lots and lots of sexy bits! Although there were a few spelling and grammar mistakes I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
What an amazing sweet story of love, happiness, and learning to live. I was hooked on the first page and taken on an amazing journey. These characters completely pulled me into their lives and planted themselves into my heart. I laughed, cried, got angry, and truly felt their joy. Chris and Gary were meant to find each other and they truly complement each other making the other such a better person. If you are looking for a heartfelt story then this is definitely the book that you need to read. I cannot explain how much I loved this book.
I received this book, with promises of an honest review.
This book is truly great. The plot is good, the characters are interesting. I believe with some editing for grammar and a little plot tweaking, this book would be 4.5-5 stars!
I look forward to reading more from Angela McConkey! I was enthralled the entire book!
