This delightful and funny picture book is a must for young readers who love dinosaurs and pizza. Teachers who teach in early education classrooms and have the topic of dinosaurs to be taught in their curriculum will want to add this one to their classroom library. Making a pizza with your young students is a great enhancement to the reading experience.
The creativity of adding Pizzasaurus to the community of real dinosaurs is engaging. All scientific names for real dinosaurs are included and they wonder if pizza has actually been invented yet. Pizzasaurus lives in his own environment. He bakes pizzas with all kinds of toppings. A surprise ending adds a new dinosaur to the community.
Kyle Beckett contributed his talents as an illustrator with brightly colored and large illustrations.
Pizzasaurus was published by Doubleday Books for Young Readers. It has an ISBN of 978-0-593-51808-3.
Although it's entirely historically [er, prehistorically] inaccurate since there was no pizza when dinosaurs ruled the planet, this picture book will amuse young readers. They'll find it just as hard to resist Pizzasaurus, the pizza-obsessed dinosaur, as it is to ignore the tantalizing aroma of a freshly-baked and delivered pizza. The cartoon-like artwork fits perfectly with the plot, even though there isn't a lot to the storyline and the ending felt contrived--at least to me. I did like the idea of the dinosaur living in a hut and the images of what the inside of his place looks like.
First sentence: You look like someone who knows a lot about dinosaurs. Of course you've heard of Tyrannosaurus rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops. Who hasn't?
Premise/plot: Readers meet a dinosaur that LOVES pizza.
My thoughts: This is a silly picture book. If you have little ones that LOVE pizza and/or LOVE dinosaurs, this one may be a good match. The illustrations are bright and colorful. The plot, well, there isn't much of a plot, BUT pizza + dinosaurs.
A delightfully humorous introduction to the Pizzasaurus, a pizza loving dinosaur. It's a silly premise but the playful illustrations and lighthearted wordplay make this a fun book to read and share. Warning: don't read while hungry because this will definitely cause an immediate desire for cheesey pizza!
Tammi Sauer's new picture book is about a pizza loving dinosaur Pizzasaurus. The reader gets to see how his love of pizza impacts his life and upsets the other dinosaurs who think he is getting more attention than he deserved. Kyle Beckett captures the dinosaurs' lives with bright, bold humorous action filled illustrations. This book is especially good for dinosaur fans and pizza fans.
This is a funny story about a pizza source a dinosaur who loves pizza so much he makes it eats. It delivers it. His house is decorated with it and everything about his life is Pizza. The other dinosaurs that are in the book seem to be jealous of him, but in the end, he shares his pizza with them and they all enjoy.
ST for pizza and dinos. A funny book about a dino named pizzasaurus who is special. The other dinos try to show how they are special too. Kids will love the humor and genius to put two things kids love together - pizza and dinos!
This super silly, high-energy book serves up two topics eternally popular with kids...pizza and dinosaurs. The puns may wear a little thin on adults, but the picture-book set will be cheering..
I love Tammi's book and this one is fun about a pizza eating dinosaur and why he loves to eat pizza. I thought my kids loved it and laughed at the story.
