Only one man ever broke her heart. Now he wants her back. For his own good she must resist…but what’s a girl to do when she’s Caught in the Current?
When Marie Sinclair’s three-year-old daughter crashes – quite literally – into Reece Cahill in the aisle of the Thrift and Save, sending pickles and glass crashing to the floor, Marie wishes she could vanish. He’s the only man she ever really cared about, and it’s her own fault he broke things off. Sure, she’s changed. But her former easy-girl reputation still precedes her everywhere she goes. And the last thing Reece needs is to be burdened with that.
But when a momentary distraction results in a cut that requires stitches, and her Corolla refuses to start, what else can she do but allow the man to drive her to the emergency room?
The problem is…now that she’s been lured into the waters, she just might not have the strength to swim free.

If you've ever doubted whether you are worthy enough. If you've felt trapped by the mistakes of your past. If you've ever feared that God's forgiveness really does cover all. If you've ever wondered really can become a new creature in Christ. Any of it or all of it, Caught In The Current is the story you need to read. In her sweetly written romance novel author Lynnette Bonner shows through the story of Marie and Reece that yes you are worthy, yes you can be free of your past mistakes, yes God's grace covers a multitude of sins, and yes you can be that new creature in Christ.
In case you didn't guess in addition to the romance, and even a little humor, Caught In The Current was an emotionally moving story. There's a little bit of everything in it, and, Lynnette Bonner sure took her characters through some tough stuff. But I enjoyed it! And I totally fell in love with one adorable and sometimes temperamental little miss.
I've had the audiobook version for some time but only now decided to listen. I really shouldn't have waited. The audio was very good and I sincerely liked the narrator, she was a good match especially for Marie. So, if you've got some time on your hands or a big project to do and you enjoy a good faith-based romance why not give the audiobook version of Caught In The Current, author Lynnette Bonner's second book in her Pacific Shores series, a shot.
(I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I really enjoyed Caught in the Current. It is book two in the Pacific Shores series. I truly loved book one, Beyond the Waves, and am excited to have been able to catch up with characters from the first book.
We met Marie Sinclair and Reese Cahill in book one. Caught in the Current tells their story. Marie is such a complex character. She has come a long way from the girl she used to be, looking for affection with any boy she could find. She broke Reese’s heart with her actions years earlier and sent him running. But now, this single mom has a different focus in her life…Jesus. And when Reese moves back home, he finds the new Marie, who is dedicated to God, to be irresistible.
Marie’s bad reputation follows her, impacting the way people treat her. The last thing she wants to do is to cause the residents of their town to look down on Reese. Will Marie ever be able to understand that God made her a new creation in Christ? Reese is determined to make her understand her worth in God’s eyes, as well as his own.
This is a sweet, contemporary tale and goes well with the series. However, it can easily be read as a stand alone novel.
Just had to re-read this series again and it's a favorite of mine. One of those that you enjoy so much you have to read it again every couple of years.
Read November 10, 2014 Lynnette Bonner really knows how to write a heart warming story with solid life lessons.
Marie has made some pretty serious mistakes in her life. She lets them continue to identify who she thinks she is. She was an interesting character in book 1 and it was fun to reconnect with her and see what good she had done with her life since she was a wild child.
Reece also has been having some good experiences that have helped him become a wonderful man but now he's got the challenge of getting Marie to see that she is a new creature in Christ. He's got his work cut out for him. I loved how he was able to connect with Alyssa so quickly and easily. She is a fun character also. Really looking forward to book 3.
Marie is hired to decorate rental cabins. Reece and Marie know each other well. Love each other too. Trouble is Marie has trouble receiving Reece's love. Especially when she is treated like a second class citizen by some in town, which only reenforces her low opinion of herself. Reece's sick dad speaks words that affirm her and encourages his son to not let Marie get away. Will Marie choose forgiveness or always measure herself by her mistakes?
I really enjoyed it. I love the not judging others especially those who are trying to change from past mistakes. I have a new phrase I'm putting up around my home from this book. "Pearls...I heard a man describe life that way. Each mistake we make is like a grain of sand that enters our life but God can take each trouble and make a pearl out of it. We can later take the wisdom we learned while pearls were being made in our own lives and use them to help others." I just love that, very thought provoking.
The first few chapters of the book tells it all. Reece is back in town after being gone for four years. Marie's 4 year old daughter - who is absolutely adorable - runs into Reece - literally - at the grocery store. Reece is great with Alyssa, Marie's daughter. He's determined to pursue Marie now that she's given her life to God.
Great story. Great series. Looking forward to book three.
Marie and Reece's story is amazing. Marie has done things that she never should of done. She is trying so hard to get past the mistakes she made. When Reece comes back to help his family Marie's life will change. You will feel God working throughout this book.
Another great book by Lynnette Bonner. It was great to see how these characters, that were introduced in the first book, grew in their walks in the Lord. I really enjoyed seeing forgiveness and God's grace. I would highly recommend this book and this author.
Good, short, relaxing read. Very predictable from the beginning. It did make me cry and did carry some "pearls of wisdom". Reminded me of God's precious grace.
I really enjoyed this 2nd book in the series. Lynette is an awesome writer, she carries you along with a great characters and wonderful storylines. I can't wait to read the next book.
Marie struggles to completely accept Christ amazing grace that washes ALL sins whiter than snow. Even Christian peers tend to judge her past instead of accepting the new convert. Through other witnesses Marie finds true love by finally allowing Christ to completely work through her.
