She has skin as white as snow, lips red as a rose, and hair black as ebony. She’s also got curves that go on forever! But after years of being bullied and shamed about her weight, Neve Bianca can’t see her own beauty. When she uncovers illegal activities her stepmother is engaged in, an attempt is made on Neve’s life. Forced to flee, she ends up hiding out on a touring musical festival. There she makes a new friend, Lindsey, a little person who is full of self-confidence. To pay her way, Neve ends up working for the tour’s burlesque show, something that takes her way out of her comfort zone. Her new friendship, sizzling onstage act, and the attention of several very handsome men force Neve to reexamine everything she ever thought about herself. Will this modern-day, full-figured “princess” live happily ever after?
Katherine Noll is the author of more than 50 books for children. Her newest book,"Mirror, Mirror," is the first book in her first series for adults: "The Fat Fairy Tales."

This book was definitely an interesting take on Snow White. The book had an insecure Italian girl, evil step mother, Russian mobsters, and carnies. It was definitely interesting to see how Neve changed after losing her parents, almost getting killed, and joining the circus. In the book there are references back to the story we all love, but with an interesting twist to them.
This book is a creative modern-day re-imagining of the Snow White story. A young woman overcomes her weight-based insecurities and past bullying to find love, while her life is in danger from her evil stepmother.
Pros: -I really liked the carnival setting. -Lindsey is a fantastic character!
Cons: -Editing could have been more thorough. -The ending seemed rushed.
As a bbw, I look for stories like this. The fat girl wins the prize. In this one she gets justice. And a place that accepts her as is. A new good friend, people that see her and her talent and a good man. Bliss!
This was a quick and fun summertime read. It's a fairy tale re-telling of the classic Snow White story but with some major twists. Neve Bianca, which is Snow White in Italian, is a full-figured young lady just out of high school. Her high school experience was not pleasant with all the bullying she suffered because of her size and of course she is dealing with her evil step-mother.
I don't want to give away any spoilers on how the book unfolds or ends, but let's just say there are car chases, burlesque shows and a rock star love interest on her quest for happily ever after. As you can tell this is not your average fairy tale and I recommend this book to those who love YA, Chick Lit and fairytales.
