If you have heard about the jungian Shadow working concept, the book and suggested practices make far more sense then without.

Can recommend 120% the systema single rep, 1 minute pushups, squats and leg raises. You feel all blockages in the body mercylessly.

Personally I would even include there a pullup with the same effect - but one needs a bar.

Time to get to the ground again and learn rolling :)

One of my favorite books in systema other than the knife work book by VV.

Along with the fighting in water dvd and the medicine ball and stick fighting dvds are good intro for the kwan Lee stretch dvd.

The book goes very well with a intermediary instructor in a somewhat repetitive class; it helps with rolling everything on the ground. Especially with the medicine ball workout or groundwork seminar.

Classical martial arts are a very different proposition from what is usually taught as "traditional" martial arts in this country. If you'd like to take a look inside that fascinating world, this book is an excellent place to start. Systema has some notable differences from my tradition (kuntao silat), but a lot of the fundamentals are strikingly similar: you will re-learn how to stand, walk, sit, fall, move, and above all, how to breathe. A classical martial art is a fundamental transformation, and Major Komarov's book is one of the best I've ever seen at explaining some of the ways that transformation takes place.

I have been training in the Russian Martial Art of System for over 7 years out of Toronto. Systema is a way of life and a path to a better life. This book is a must for anyone who takes their training seriously or wants to begin to explore the depth that this beautiful art has to offer.
