Power Play Penalties: A M/M Hockey Romance Where Faking It Gets Way Too Real—And Way Too Close
One fake relationship. Two total opposites. And a blizzard that makes pretending way too real.
Grumpy hockey enforcer Jack Carter just got suspended for blowing up at the wrong Owen Lane, the team’s too-sweet nutritionist who labels snacks with smiley stickers. Now the Cold Pines Kodiaks' PR team has a wild solution—fake date each other to save Jack’s reputation.
Owen agrees to keep the peace. Jack agrees because… he’s tired of being the villain. But faking affection in front of cameras is one thing. Getting snowed in at the team retreat with only one bed? That’s when things get dangerous—for their hearts and their carefully drawn lines.
Tension turns into late-night banter. Banter turns into something they don’t want to fake anymore. But when the spotlight returns, will their fragile connection survive off the ice?
A grumpy/sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, fake dating M/M hockey romcom with emotional slow burn and three intimate moments that change everything.

story of Jack and Owen
This is a fake dating hockey romance, featuring Jack and Owen, and is standalone book.
Grumpy hockey player Jack and sweet nutritionist Owen agree to fake date to fix Jack’s image. But when they get snowed in together, real feelings start to grow, and pretending gets a lot more complicated.
This was a super sweet and low angst novella. I would have liked it to be a bit longer.
Things to expect in this book are:
Standalone book
Novella
MM hockey romance
Enemies to more
Low angst
Opposites attract
Grumpy x Sunshine
Player x Nutritionist
Fake dating
Snowed in
Forced proximity
Only one bed

It definitely had potential, but the author didn’t dig deep enough into their relationship. The emotional connection felt rushed, and surprisingly, it also lacked the steamy scenes
Still, it was a quick, easy read—but not as satisfying as it could’ve been.

3.5 stars. Listened on Author's YouTube page.
The story needed more background. How did people know that Jack and Owen were gay? And people were just okay with them coming out? Hockey isn't the most LGBTQ organisation.
Other than that, very cute and enjoyable story.
