How do you know when a person is vegetarian? They’ll tell you (and remind you at every possible opportunity).

Ms. Caves must be vegetarian as it is a constant an ongoing theme in her books. I would suspect that she keeps a goat as an indoor pet as well.

I read one of the books by Ms. Caves and found it funny and entertaining. I then made the mistake of thinking that it was representative of her other books. I should have known to give this book a pass when the author stated the book by suggesting that readers download a prequel.

Beware readers: Ms. Caves recycles her characters and plots from one series to another. In this book, Marinanne from the first 1/4th of the novel bears 0 resemblance to Marianne from the rest of the book. The plot about the abusive father is dropped entirely and suddenly Marianne is indistinguishable from Lady Penelope from one of Ms. Caves’s other books. I would suspect that the rest of the series is indistinguishable from any of her other books as well. It’s truly a case of, “if you’ve read one, you’ve read them all”.

I truly enjoyed this romance story, between two characters with opposite personalities, that carried burdens from their past. An unexpected marriage, leads to a challenging relationship. All well created and a written plot with engaging characters that flowed easily, credit to the author. The customary ‘villains’ were well written. I really liked the ending scenes, which brought surprises and humor. Loved the animals participation! lol I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.

Marianne

Destined to meet Dominic and Marianne find themselves in a whirlwind life with danger, kidnapping and founding a team that is a force to be reckoned with. Marianne is a strong young lady who has suffered and protected her siblings from a cruel father. Although, married and gone she still protects them seeing that their father doesn’t endanger their lives more. Lovely read, highly recommend it

There is a lot of sadness in this story. Both Dominic and Marianne come from very dysfunctional families. Dominic is immediately drawn to Marianne and she also feels the connect, but can two damaged people find a way to heal? You will need to find out more. However I am disappointed that near the end of the story Marianne's father just seems to disappear from the story. There are some graphic sex scenes.

A Hunt/A Standoff/Marriage/Love..

Lady Marianne literally runs into Dominic to stop him from taking aim at a stag during the hunt. He is amazed when he asks for her hand in marriage. To protect her sisters she is ever watching…but there is one predator watching the sisters at all cost..and he must be stopped…

Not worth your time

Nothing in this story made sense. Why was the father so cruel? Nothing in the story explains why Dominick was so moody and grumpy. Because his mother had affairs? Didn't come together. Why the villain targeted Dominick was never explained. The goat was just stupid. If it was to add some humor, it failed. I won't be reading the rest of this series.

An unwanted spinster for the Duke

Marianne and Dominic had a good, lusty relationship, and a nice big family! And good friends in Simon and Olivia. Loved the story of lust and slowly building love between them. But also Marianne struggles to keep her sister's safe from the dad. Well done!

Protection at what cost?

Marianne has been terrorized for years, as has her sisters, father a Marquee, who rules his children with a cane. Duke Dominic meets her when searching for her sister at a stag hunt her father forms, the one who kills the stag wins his second daughter, Elizabeth. But Dominic wants eldest daughter. Neither are prepared for the aftermath!

An Unwanted Spinster for the Duke

Marianne and Dominic’s story is riddled with hurts and hardships but it also brings them together. Marianne shows great strength and protectiveness towards her sisters above her own wellbeing. This strength follows through her whole tale. Strong women at this time speaks well for women in general.

Marianne is the eldest daughter of a boorish man who constantly threatens her and her four younger siblings. She marries a man because her father threatens her and it turns out he is cold and brooding cos his mother died of a venerable disease after cheating on his father with a man his own age that he constantly sees out on the ton.

If the author had omitted graphic sex scenes; this book would have easily earned 4 stars.
The brutality exhibited by the heroine's father was disturbing and thus made his banishment very satisfying.

Spinster/Duke

I definitely enjoyed this story. I liked the differences and similarities between Maryanne and Dominic, it brought an interesting element to the story.
I also enjoyed the addition of the siblings and hope there are stories for some of them.

Followed all the typical patterns and all the typical words including the plot. Blasphemed. Typical.

I would not recommend this book even to my dog. No imagination whatsoever. Just followed the typical format. Copied other authors script. Pitiful.

Loved this story.

A mixture of love fear and cruelty, 5 sister brought up in fear of their father and how how he would beat them with a cane until the one he hated most was chosen by a Duke to marry as an arrangement and what happened after that. Excellent author.

Good begining

I feel like the extra plot around the viscount was unnecessary. I wished the abuse plot was explored more and was kept as the headline plot. The end seemed extremely rushed and muddled together

A most disappointing read. Do not bother with this. The plot is as ridiculous as the pet goat. The characters are poorly defined. I had hoped there would be some depth and explanations but alas, the narrative never improved.

Start of a Series

Very good story. It needed editing. Exception is the modern verbiage and vegetarian slant. If the author would have stayed focused on the 19th Century, the book would have been superb.

Fantastic story with great characters and plot! It was an easy read as well. BUT, there was wayyyy too much spice for my tastes.

Unwanted Spinster

Enjoyed reading the Story of Marianne and Dominic.

Lots of angst and intrigue.

Add in an irascible Goat, two large dogs and a stubborn cat for comedic effect.
