The Art of Us

Rate this book
Quinn Delphe’s life is in New York. That’s where she grew up, where her best friend Sam lives, and where her job is. Is it the life she always dreamed of? No, but it helps build her a safe and secure future.

That is, until she gets fired.

Parker Bates is the owner of Sunset Springs’ only coffee shop, Rise and Grind. He loves his shop almost as much as he loves his family, his friends, and his small town in Montana. Having experienced loss, Parker sets up his life to never go through pain like that again.

That is, until he meets Quinn.

The Art of Us is a steamy, small town romance featuring a handsome, messy-haired boy and his brothers, a strong, reliable girl and her best friend, and a small town where everyone knows each other’s business. Thank you, Jules, for proving an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

For a debut, I was seriously impressed. This book was everything I want in a small town romance. It was charming and full of heart, with the perfect about of spicy content. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie with smut, which is a dream combination for me!

Parker was a fantastic book boyfriend. He was thoughtful and so down bad for Quinn. I will always love a man who worships his woman!!! Also THE FLITHY MOUTH ON PARKER???? OKAY SIR!!!!! Their chemistry absolutely leapt off the page, but what really sold their romance for me was how sweet and genuine they were together. I constantly felt like giggling and kicking my feet!

Quinn’s struggle of choosing between a “successful”well paying career and something that actually brings her joy felt incredibly relatable. She felt like a REAL person and was very easy to root for.

I’m already hoping we get books for all the brothers because I am obsessed with them and neeeeeed to see them find love!!! PLEEEEEASE!!!

first i want to thank Jules Cohen for the opportunity to read and review this ARC in exchange for an honest review<3

man.. this has easily taken a spot in one of my top favs of 2025. this being her debut novel, i cannot wait to read anything else by her. automatically an auto-buy author for me now. This book hit me in all my feelings. I was smiling like an idiot at my screen, giggling, blushing, even cried for a bit there. everything in this book was so perfect to me. the romance, the spice, the friendships, the found family, the banter.. ugh it was all so amazing!!

this book follows Quinn an NYC native who worked as an engineer, but was just laid off and is now trying to figure out how she can get her life back to that routine and stability she is used to. Quinns best friend Sam, encourages her to do something she loves and step out of her routine for a bit which is how Quinn finds herself heading to a small town in Montana called Sunset Springs to paint a mural on the towns coffee shop wall. that coffee shop is owned by our favorite barista, Parker Bates, a Sunset Springs native.

the book then takes you on Quinns journey of self discovery, the struggle of putting your passions first, and living life for happiness. we also follow Parkers journey of learning to heal, not expecting the worse of people, and truly learning to be happy with his life and the people around him after experiencing so much grief and heartbreak.

their romance is now one of my favorites and Parker is now just another book boyfriend im obsessed with. their banter, the tension, the build up is chefs kiss, and Jules really knew what she was doing with the spice in this book. 10/10 recommend (you will be blushing i promise you)

the found family has also easily become one of my favorite tropes, and Jules knocks it out of the park in this book. Truly, overall, such an amazing debut novel, and definitely a book I wont shut up about.

the best part?? THIS IS GONNA BE A SERIES!!! thats right, we get more of this little world and im NOT ready!!!

Thank you Jules for sending me an ARC copy of your book!

I had such a great time read this! The Art of Us is a small town romance book and it had absolutely everything I love about small town romances. The town in takes place in, Sunset Springs, reminded me so much of Stars Hollow when I was reading. It’s a very small town where everyone knows everyone. One thing I really loved were the side characters we meet. Everyone has their own little quirks and roles that they plan in this town. I loved seeing Quinn get to know them and also be welcomed in by everyone. I felt like I could picture all of the little shops and all of the characters. That part of the story made this such a cozy read.

In this book, we see Quinn (fmc), who lives in NYC, move to Sunset Springs to paint a mural for Parker’s (mmc) coffee shop. Before talking about the romance, we must talk about our two main characters! I adored both of them. Quinn has just been fired from her job and decided to take this job in Sunset Springs. This is very out of character for her as she has kind of had her life planned and she is very used to her routine in NYC and her life there. I loved seeing her take this risk and take a job that allows her to do what she really loves, which is painting. Per the mmc, Parker, he is exactly my type of MMC. He can come off a bit grumpy occasionally but he has such a soft heart and is so kind to Quinn. He’s funny, supportive, and became such an important part of Quinn’s life. While Parker comes from a big family and Quinn does not, they both had the same issue of never really being seen. In getting to know each other and forming a relationship, they truly begin to understand each other like no one has before. I loved that part of their romance so much.

Definitely recommend this book if you like small town romances! It’s out July 25!💛

4.8!! What a great book! What a great debut novel. If you like the sound of: girl from the big city. just lost her job. heads to a small town to pursue art. tries not to fall in love with the local coffee man, who has a ton of heart… and fails? than this is the book for you.

Pacing for setting up the story was fabulous. The descriptive language of the small town and scenery//scenes were great. I immediately was drawn into the story. The distinct personalities and looks of each character when being introduced, and worked into the story, made it easy to follow and I LOVE that, especially when I can easily get mixed up with small town setting, and so many characters. It did have a bit of fluff here and there that felt a little unnecessary to the plot, but overall, I can’t complain

The characters right off the bat are already lovable and I kept on wanting to read more, not only to get to know them, but especially in anticipation to see them interact with each other- especially the brothers. And I can not wait for more books. Found family vibe right off the bat even though they are family if that makes sense? But I love it.

So cozy, I wanted to be IN that house. Just the descriptive language alone put me right there. A loved home. The mom was a great character & I love the way they bonded in the beginning.

It was really cool how her mural really reflected the town and the people that live there. It couldn’t have been done any other way

I hope Sam gets a book. We all need a friend like her. And the brothers as well. I was hooked after everyone’s first introductions into the world, to be honest. It was a bit predictable that she would become the baker and I was screaming into the book, ‘hire her!! hire her!!’, but, it’s okay. As long as she got hired in the end, that’s what really matters.

I thought I saw a typo, but instead I learned a new word. So that’s fun lol

The ending felt a bit forced//rushed, but it made sense. It just threw me off a little.

Highly recommend :)

Thank you Jules for providing this arc!

For a debut novel this was amazing! The perfect summer romance book. It was easy to read and follow. It was written extremely well.

I really loved the characters and the plot I just felt like there was something within the romance missing. However that is just a personal preference.

Overall great read!

I’m completely obsessed with this book and all of the characters in it. Every character is an absolute gem, and the town is so effortlessly endearing, it made me want to hop on a flight to Montana to see if I could find somewhere as cute as Sunset Springs! Parker and Quinn’s love has completely captivated me, and it was the perfect small town romance that kept me on the edge of my seat and had me rooting for the two of them while sometimes wanting to throw the book across the room because my goodness, they need to just kiss!! I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out so I can fall back into the amazing town Jules created and get to learn more about the characters we met in The Art Of Us, especially Sam and Tucker!!

If I could define this book in just one word, it would be comfort. It’s such a cozy read, the true definition of small town! For the author’s debut romance, it’s really well done, very well structured, and I absolutely loved the descriptions of the landscapes and settings – I felt completely immersed in Sunset Springs. 🫶🏻 I’m grateful for the opportunity to read this book, and I’m already curious about the second in this series! 🥰

HOLY COW, how is bookstagram not 𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒖𝒑 with this book?!?! Y’all, you have to read this book! it’s beyond awesome. I absolutely devoured it! I was hooked from chapter one, & I loved Quinn & Parker so much! The BANTER! Omg, it was top-notch & I just loved the way Jules tells a story. The found family vibes were immaculate too. I loved that they healed each other, they supported the crap out of each other, & if there’s a book that can make me believe in true soulmates, was it because I was in LOVE. This book seriously needs more attention, I feel like anyone who loves small town romance would eat this one up🥰🤌🏼

This book completely took over my brain, my heart, and my will to do anything productive (public apology to my family).

I was rooting for Quinn and Parker from their first scene together—their insta-spark was 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. And the banter throughout is sharp, hilarious, and laced with the kind of tension that had me kicking my feet. And don’t even get started on the heat because PARKER—you sir, have a deliciously filthy mouth.

It wasn’t just spice for the sake of spice. Quinn and Parker’s intimacy was felt and the pages were dripping with their chemistry. What really hooked me was their communication & maturity—it was two people learning, growing, and being honest, even when it wasn’t easy. That kind of emotional payoff is * 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘧’𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘴*.

Quinn has total (relatable) main character energy. Her struggle between chasing a sustainable career path versus following her actual passion was so authentic—her doubts, her fears, her dreams—but then watching her stand in her truth and chase joy had my romantic heart jumping up and down. And Parker is dream book boyfriend material. A silent cheerleader for Quinn in the 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺—supportive, thoughtful—but an absolute menace with a dirty mouth. Parker delivers on EVERY level.

“𝘼 𝙨𝙤𝙛𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝? 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨.”

The side characters kept the story light, fun, and fast-paced. The brothers, the best friends, the meddling townspeople—immaculate. I already need a whole series dedicated to every single one of them—I am BEGGING.

The pacing was perfect—just enough backstory to ground the plot but with those little nuggets of the unknown sprinkled throughout that keep you quietly guessing. Every chapter felt intentional—no filler, no lulls. I wanted to live this story in real life.

For a debut, this is close to perfect. Small-town charm, electric banter, heartfelt growth, and the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and emotional tension—this is your next obsession.

I can’t believe this book is a debut. Jules is an indie author who personally reached out to me asking if I’d give her book a chance, and I couldn’t be happier that I did. From the very first pages, I was completely drawn in and instantly fell in love with these characters.

Small town romance is my weakness, and this one had it all: the warmth of found family, friendships that felt like lifelines (Quinn + Sam = pure magic), and the reminder that family isn’t always blood, but love that shows up and stays.

Quinn felt achingly real. Choosing engineering over art, sacrificing her passion for “practicality”, it broke my heart in ways that felt too familiar. The burnout, the longing, the quiet ache… all of it made her healing arc, and her connection with Parker, that much more moving. Their honesty from the start, the way they just fit—swoony and grounding all at once.

And oh, Parker ❤️ From the beginning, I could tell that losing his father left a mark that ran deep. He felt so steady, so reliable, like the kind of person you could hand your heart to and trust it would be safe. Yet it was also clear he used his business as a shield, pouring himself into work to mask the loneliness underneath. At first, I braced myself for a classic grump, but instead, I found a soft-hearted man brimming with quiet love, patience, and tenderness. Watching his walls slowly come down, and watching the way he loved Quinn, was one of the most rewarding parts of the book.

Then there’s Sunset Springs itself. This little town felt alive, like the kind of place you secretly wish you could escape to when life feels too heavy. Everyone felt alive and layered, like people I’d want to know in real life. Give me more of them all!!! (Looking at you, Wren and Brooks 👀).

Beautifully written! Publishers should definitely keep Jules on their radar—this is just the beginning of something special. Jules is an author to watch!!

This was an adorable small town romance debut! Kudos to Jules Cohen for writing such a wonderful first book! 👏🏻

The characters were so great! Even the supporting characters from the small town were lots of fun! Speaking of the small town—it had a real feel. I felt like I lived there. I felt like I knew my way around. Jules did an incredible job describing the scenes and that is super cozy to me. I mean how cute, the Rise and Grind Coffee Shop?! Yes!

Quinn, the FMC was a sweet soul. I loved the light she gave off and her love of art. (I’m artsy too so I appreciated that.) She was from NYC with a career and after she was left go from her job, she found herself torn between art and a career. That’s where she landed in the small town of Sunset Springs.

Parker, the MCM is the owner of the coffee shop and HANDSOME! He came off as a very strong characters with a soft side, sexy side, and even a bit grumpy at times. My cup of tea. 😉 Between Parker and Quinn, they were super flirty and fun…and hot…with amazing chemistry! I enjoyed waiting their relationship grow and form!

Yes to the dual POV! And p.s. I want to know more about these brothers in this book. 🥵

I recommend this as a quick and cute romance read!

The Art of Us by Jules Cohen completely swept me off my feet. This book is the kind of story that wraps around your heart and refuses to let go even after the final page.

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Cohen’s writing is effortlessly beautiful, with a lyrical quality that makes every emotion feel raw and real. The characters? Utterly unforgettable. I’m still thinking about Parker & Quinn. The chemistry between them sizzles with slow-burn perfection, and their individual journeys are layered, vulnerable, and incredibly human. You feel everything. Every joy, every ache, every moment of longing.

What truly sets this book apart is its balance of heart and hope. It’s not just a love story, it’s a story about healing, self-discovery, and the messy, wonderful ways we grow through love. Jules Cohen paints every scene with so much emotional detail, it’s like reading a work of art.

If you’re a fan of emotionally resonant romances with characters who feel real, prose that sings, and a love story that will make you believe in second chances, The Art of Us is your next favorite read. I laughed, I cried, I highlighted a hundred quotes—and I’ll be recommending this book to everyone I know.

- barista x artist
- found family
- banter
- MMC w a filthy mouth

What a cute, spicy debut contemporary romance!! I received an ARC from Jules Cohen & I had such a fun time reading it! 💝 it’s a small town romance with found family dual-POV, mutual pining, self-discovery, & spice!!

I thought this book was such a cute, heartwarming read that gives alllllll the Gilmore Girls feels!! Quinn is an engineer from New York who loses her job and decides to follow her heart and take a job in a small town to paint their town mural. Parker is the owner of the coffee shop in that small town where the mural is going up. The characters in this small town will warm your heart & make you feel like you’re a part of Sunset Sprints! The small town vibes are amazing ✨

I really enjoyed reading Quinn & Parker’s story, the friendships formed, and the comfort of being in a small town 🌟💝

This book is taking over my thoughts in the best way possible. It’s my first 5 star read in a while and I couldn’t be happier. Parker and Quinn’s story felt like a love at first sight connection and I was smiling and smitten throughout this entire book. Parker is on the list of top book boyfriends!! The small town and community reminded me a little of Gilmore Girls with the small town gossip and little interactions we got with people in the town. If I could physically move inside this book I would. There were so many cute moments I highlighted. The girls night scene might have to me one of my favorites.. iykyk 👀🥵I enjoyed this book so much and I really hope we get the next one soon because I need to know more about all the side characters we met! If you’re looking for your newest summer, small town romance, I would 10/10 recommend this!!

If you love a small town romance, this is for you.
Quinn and Parker meet as she is staying at his mother's home since she is new to town and there to paint a mural on Parker's business's wall. Quinn has been fired from a job that she didn't really like and Parker has the town coffee shop and this small town is like the TV series, Cheers... where everyone knows your name!
Parker is a very likeable character and Quinn is putting thought into the mural and meeting everyone and putting little easter eggs throughout the mural as well. Parker comes from a large family and he turns out to be a big Quinn supporter like his mother is of Quinn. The one thing I really liked about the book is the author took the time to introduce us to this wonderful town and the supporting characters as well as allowing us to watch this relationship grow.
Overall, a good series starter and look forward to seeing more of this town and this couple in the next book.

Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Quinn is a recently fired engineer, living in NY, who has a passion for art. Her best friend, Sam, encourages her to apply for a mural job in Sunset Springs. Quinn applies and is accepted and gets to spend 3 months working on the mural. When Quinn gets to town she’s greeted by Eleanor, who provides her room and board and introduces Quinn to her son Parker. Parker is the owner of the coffee shop where the mural is going to be painted. When Parker and Quinn meet, sparks fly, and they’ll have to see if their love is just for the summer or a forever kind of love. Thats all I’ll say for now. But I really loved this book! The writing is so well done, you wouldn’t be able to tell this is a debut novel! I loved the friendship between Quinn and Sam. I loved the brotherly love between Parker, Tucker, and Brook. I’m SO excited for book two!!!!!

I adored this book! If you think you’re getting into a cute, small town romance then you’d be right. But, it’s also got a nice spicy element as well which took me by surprise! You’ll need a fan to cool down after this love story gets going! Sheweee!

Our main characters (Parker & Quinn) and their families are likable and fun to read about. They definitely have a sense of humor and it seems likely we’ll get another book in this series that goes deeper into some of the other relationships which I’m totally excited for.

This is a read about courage, leaving the past behind and trusting your heart.

How you’ll feel: In love with Parker Bates and his brothers, spicy and happy. You’ll love this quick and easy romance!

Thanks so much to Jules Cohen for the ARC opportunity! 💚

thank you for the ARC, Jules!!!! this book is the absolute perfect story to just sink into and feel like you’re another resident of the small town setting, watching a simultaneously wholesome and ~spicy~ romance that you can root for find legs. the main character, Quinn, grapples with something i think so many readers can resonate with: striking a balance between trying to do smart thing, the meaningful thing, and right thing, and getting to watch her evolve and relax with Parker is so so cozy and heartwarming. as someone who generally isn’t the biggest romance girlie, the banter and focus on female friendship really brings something lovely for everyone!!! so good. absolutely loved. absolutely cannot wait to see what’s next, Jules 🫶🏻

The Art of Us is a perfect combination of friendship, romance and sex. From the beginnings chapters, the characters capture your mind and your heart. Their stories are funny, emotional, and make you feel as if you’re a part of their community. If you’re looking for a romance with relatable characters, a dream boat protagonist and some steamyyy scenes…this is the book for you!

Also to note, this is the first book published by this author and it parallels with those of today’s best selling romances. Needless to say I’ll be looking forward to what lies next for this author.

As someone who *typically* isn’t a romance reader, I couldn’t put this one down. This story and the characters in it are people you could know in real life- you can easily place one of these characters as a neighbor, coworker, or friend you already know. The story really brings a true small town feeling to life and you feel like you’re in that town with them, watching it all unfold. The themes of love and friendship, and almost a second “coming of age” and all the ranges of human emotion- and the the spicier scenes that WILL make you blush and check that no one is over your shoulder to catch you reading- is so delicately and wonderfully balanced. I’m very invested and excited to read what’s next.

I absolutely loved this book🥹 small town romance always hits the spot mixed with found family, chefs kiss!

Parker is a coffee shop owner in Sunset Springs, his mum Eleanor hired Quinn (from new york) a engineer/hobby artist to paint a mural at the coffee shop, Parker sets eyes on Quinn and the rest is history!

It gave me all the feels, love getting giddy at a book! the banter was top tier and the girls (Peyton, Wren & Quinn) instant bond was perfect and all the side characters added so much to the small town feel! i really enjoy the insight you get from a dual pov. Parker has 3 brothers all different vibes i absolutely need a book for each of them! Brooks a firefighter i mean come on 🫠
