Due to the fact that I felt that history isn't taught as well as what I would like in school, I bought this book at the local library book sale. This book covers not only what was going on in Europe during the 1300's, but in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. True, it covers the history of Europe in most of the book, but I found out that there was a bigger, more progressive civilization in Africa. That China and Japan was coming under a central government. The history I was taught was that Marco Polo "discovered" China. That nothing happened in Africa after Egypt fell. That the Ottoman Empire just suddenly appeared on the scene in Turkey. This book explains what was going on in those areas.
