I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really felt like it was the perfect amount of informative without overloading me with detail that I felt like I was reading a history book. In my opinion, it was a five star non-fiction read!

I found this in the children's part of the library (because the library I was in had a lamentable dearth of non-fiction pirate histories on their shelves), and it turned out to offer a lot of information. One of the best things was footnotes, which books of this type seem to lack, so I could see sources. The illustrations were good as well. A brief but good book on the subject.
