The copy I have and read is Kanto Inc Unang Aklat (I think this has either all or the first 7-8 volumes compiled), I didn't see that edition here on Goodreads so dito ko nalang irate and review.
This is coming from someone who's not used to reading comic books - and I believe this is a good thing, I absolutely enjoyed this one. This is tagged as a PG-13, Comedy/Mystery, it involves or is inspired by Philippine mythology.
It's funny, entertaining, easy to read, over-all an enjoyable book. The art and dialogue/script compliments each other really well. Loved it.
*I got my copy from Komiket's booth in the recent MIBF (2022)
1. Premise A young woman starts working as a secretary for an eccentric collector of paranormal artifacts. In his house she forms a sort of family with the equally-strange residents, and all sorts of humorous antics and bat-shit scary ghost encounters ensues. And while at first it looked like a Filipino version of Ghostbusters, that was just one story meant as a tribute. It's really about Filipino superstitions, spirits, and shenanigans.
If you like DanDanDan for its humor, ghosts, and sometimes raunchy visuals, then check this komiks out!
2. Art Kilayman was born to draw this comic. His exaggerated expressions are perfect for both comedy and horror. I laughed and got scared so many times looking at his art. I just wished it was colored so the expressions could pop out more!
3. Plot I could have finished this in 3 days if I didn't hold it off. I just didn't want it to end so soon because it became my source of laughter after work. It's that funny!
4. Characters Gwen is best gal, being the victim of most of the shenaningans dealing with the occult, and her expressions are to die for. The rest just blend in perfectly with her.
5. Worldbuilding You can tell the superstutions have been researched extensively by the Calingo couple. My fave was the time Gwen got stuck with her laughing face! And Ghostbusters tribute too. The way they incorporated the occult into the plot was well done to my taste.
In a sea of action and horror komiks related to Philippine myth, the humor that Kanto Inc brings stands out as a very welcome change of tone. Looking forward to more silly adventures with the gang!
