I Broke My Own Heart Waiting for You to Choose Me: How to Stop Hoping for Someone Who Will Never Be Ready

You didn’t get closure — you got silence. And in that silence, you stayed. Hoping. Waiting. Loving.

This is for the woman who gave her heart to someone emotionally unavailable.
For the one who kept believing “one day they’ll see my worth.”
For the one who kept showing up — while slowly falling apart inside.

I Broke My Own Heart Waiting for You to Choose Me is not about them.
It’s about you.

In this heartfelt, healing guide, Lena Hartley walks you through the quiet ache of loving someone who never chose you — and the even braver act of finally choosing yourself.

You’ll learn how
✅ Recognize the patterns that kept you stuck
✅ Let go of the “potential” you fell in love with
✅ Rebuild the version of you that shrank for love
✅ Create peace instead of clinging to hope
✅ Love again — without losing yourself

If you’ve been told you’re “too emotional,” “too patient,” or “too much” — this book is your homecoming.

📌 Because love should not feel like a waiting room.
It should feel like a place where your heart is safe.

And this time, it starts with you.

This self-help book is written inconsistently. Most of the time it is written to the people that hurt Lena Hartley. Sometimes it seems meant for others having the same problem. But sometimes it is just highly repetitive words that seem to remind the author of their own journey. There are no descriptive examples turned into funny or shocking stories. It is just the mantras of love not being sacrifice, choosing yourself, and emotional unavailability is a choice not something to wait out. If you need someone to confirm those thoughts in your head, it might be helpful but it won’t convince anyone who disagrees. (1.5 stars)

I didn’t realize this was a self help book! I thought it was just a fictional short story or something. Lol BUT it opened my eyes to my own self and how I’ve been my whole life. Not just with significant others but with all of my relationships! I had one specific relationship experience in mind at first but then quickly realized that I did the same things even in high school relationships. And I’m still making these same mistakes almost 40 years later!
I think EVERYONE should read/listen to this book!
