What a beautiful book. The illustrations are stunning and offer more details towards the written words.

Again this book seem such a timely addition to our school collection as our year 4 students are soon off to camp in an adventure farm setting by the sea and much of the book could be used to recount time on the land and time spent at the rock pools and along the shore.
Great for reflection.
I love the peacefulness of the child's day. Reflective wellbeing moment are shown in the slowness of the activities of the day recharging all the characters in the family, another great talking point.

The book reminds me of the illustrated stylings of many Alison Lester books, Rock hopping and Rivertime even the Mr Magee illustration stylings or the Leunig cartoon style of illustration - all are beautiful representations of stories that pull on the heart strings in some way.

A gentle story of a young girl's day living on a farm by the sea. As a recount, it covers the many things she does helping her parents and grandparents completing farm chores, saying hello to the various domestic animals and wild creatures she encounters. After the work is done she heads to her favourite place - the seaside which borders the house and there she greets the creatures she encounters there - rockpools, on the beach and imagines in the waters. A lack of tension makes the story a little pedantic and slow going with the inevitable bed time conclusion to end the day.

However, it does provide insights to life on the farm, living by the sea (though I couldn't help wonder at the productiveness of the unsheltered fruit trees so close to the shore) and contributing the family chores. To add some verve, the illustrations are filled with activity and detail, a little reminiscent of Alison Lester's work and have a folk aret feel to them. They have been created with pen, inks, watercolours and printmaking processes.
