No Place Like Home: Small Town, Friends to Lovers Romance

Rate this book
Rowan is back home and he’s looking at me like I’m the one woman he’s always wanted. But he’s my best friend—the one guy I could always count on– and best friends aren’t supposed to fall in love.

Then, a mix-up leaves us sharing a one-bedroom house, and the chemistry I’ve spent years ignoring becomes impossible to deny.

Suddenly the line between friendship and something more is blurring, and I’m scared of where it could lead.

But Rowan’s never been the kind of man to give up, and when he looks at me with his large chocolate brown eyes, the tension crackles between us and I’m pulled toward him in a way I’ve never been before. Until keeping my heart locked away becomes harder than ever, and I start to wonder if maybe I’ve been running from the wrong thing all along.

But there’s a part of my past I’ve never shared with anyone—not even Rowan. I know better than to believe in forever. Love is messy, and someone always gets hurt. But how can I stay away from Rowan when everything between us feels so right?

Donna has made something special with Orlinda Valley. It’s a warm welcoming hug each story and Donna never fails to deliver on the banter, humor, family and friend dynamics. If you haven’t visited Orlinda Valley, you are truly missing out!

Rowan has returned home. He missed being with his family and friends but most importantly he missed a certain fiery, feisty, stubborn girl we all came to love in previous books Summer. These two are best friends and never crossed that line. Rowan knows Summer better than anyone. But there’s a secret that Summer hasn’t shared with anyone.

As you follow along this story you find out more about Summer. Her up bringing and a secret that she hasn’t shared with anyone that holds her back and you find out why Summer self sabotages and dates the losers that she dates.

As everyone is coming together for Kora and Kai’s wedding. Rowan needs a place to stay since his return and he finds himself bunking with Summer in Koras place. That’s quite the reunion between the two! You see their tension, their chemistry and their banter. But you also will see Summer struggle through what she’s feeling, deny what she is feeling, play it down and run away from it.

Rowan is patient with her knowing pushing Summer too much could result in her running away, shutting down or pushing him away. But during the wedding when Rowan is confessing his feelings after a prior conversation Summer still hasn’t shared this secret that she has kept for years and it’s been eating away at her and in true Summer fashion she pushes Rowan away and runs.

When Rowan goes after Summer to confront her over her secret and fight for her life has other plans and Tonya ends up in the hospital - Who would’ve thought Tonya would be the one telling Summer to fight for her son and to go get her son?

Ultimately as always you count on the book club women for drama, gossip and laughs but also that hard and tough love that’s needed. Summer and Rowan get their happily ever after and this one is filled with laughs, spice, the family/friends dynamic and Donna deals with an issue through out this story that was handled with care and love! I couldn’t have pictured Summers story going any other way.

There is no place like home. - That is so evident when Rowan returns home and is swarmed by well-wishers within the hour. He wanted to surprise them but he got the biggest surprise when he caught Summer in a private after shower dance party. Old feelings that never really died resurfaced, igniting a yearning he thought he had buried. But he's gotta be careful. She's a non-believer in love, her own family a disaster she has no intention of mirroring.

Summer has cared for Rowan since they were kids, but she is fearful of ruining their friendship. Her own home life aside, she fears he will turn away from her when he discovers her painful secret. He deserves to be with someone who can fulfill his life in every way.

This is another great addition in the Orlinda Valley series. Rowan and Summer are so good together, their friendship the anchor for their love. Supported by a community of loving busybodies, the two MCs will find their way to each other's arms. The power of true love will conquer all, no obstacles too insurmountable for them. Scorching hot passion between the MCs, fun-loving moments with family and friends and chicken attacks are just a few reasons to dive into this one.

Summer and Rowan’s story is a wonderful read that touches the heart and soul. Summer is independent, sassy, sarcastic and hiding a secret that she believes makes her unlovable. She protects her heart fiercely, though she acknowledges her intense attraction to Rowan and that something seems to have changed between them. Rowan is patient, persistent and determined to show Summer how good they could be together. His big heart is evident as his loyalty and integrity, but Summer still thinks that he deserves someone better than her. Can Rowan finally convince her to give him and live a chance?

I loved the banter and rapport between Dummer and Rowan. His family is supportive, quirky and wonderful. They along with a variety of animals add to the humour in this book. I wholeheartedly recommend this endearing book.

I’m not sure how I missed this book with getting ARCs for books two and four. But I made sure to go back and read it after finishing book 4. And I’m glad i waited. I went in remembering Lance (book 4 MML) as a good big brother. But this one he was a 🍑 🤣🤣 But I loved Rowan sticking up for his women. Summer broke my heart with the secret she was keeping. But I knew Rowan wouldn’t leave because of it. And I’m really hoping a firefighter book is coming up soon 🤣🤞😉
Spice level is probably a half of pepper.

I have absolutely fallen for Orlinda Valley and all the people in it. Summer and Rowan are no different. Throughout the book there is banter, crazy farm animals that will have you laughing uncontrollably, and finally the perfect love story.

Love the characters in this book! The banter of this series is what kept me coming back for the third time. The small town charm of an easy read is what I like most about the Orlinda Valley series and you won’t want to miss the third installment!!
