For Presly Smith, true love is hard to find. The easier she makes herself to love, the harder her relationships feel. Her list appears short and simple—All Presly wants is a man that’s hers. When her situation-ship with Houston ends before her sister’s wedding, Presly has all but given up on love. It seems unrealistic and unattainable, regardless of how happy and in love her sister is.

When she meets her brother-in-law’s best friend Rasheed, he claims her instantly as his. Unfortunately, Presly’s heart has been cemented and hardened with no way in in sight. Rasheed is determined to restore her faith in love again… or, at least, her faith in being loved by him.

I expected this whole Houston bs to wrapped up by page 10…15 at the latest but half the book was about these two dumbasses, yes Presley included. And then here come Joe Goldberg talmbout you mine and I’m not using a condom?! Excuse me?! Maybe it would have been believable if we didn’t see Presley hung up on Houston when she had every opportunity to leave him alone. And then the communication after he was blocked? Ick 🤢😩 this was just not a great experience. I genuinely do t know why the FMC would be written to be as idiotic as she was like come one now. And Joe Goldberg not knowing this lady from Adam or Eve 😭😭

This had so much potential but fell a little flat for me. I wish Presley didn’t spend so much time/half the book being gaslighted by Houston it took away from the story. I wish we would have been able to see more of her and Rasheed getting to know each other. He came with the BDE and I wish it wasn’t so rushed like they got a couple of days and she wasted over a year with Houston and his mama. Other than that the book was good

Presly, girl….. I didn’t know whether to give you a hug or shake some sense into you. Ughhh…. 🤯Your intuition was telling you at every turn the Houston was not the one, but that feeling of familiarity and fear of starting over, had taken hold to our girl something serious! 👀 That old adage holds true, you gotta get sick and tired before you make a move. Presly FINALLY had enough and walks away with no regrets.

When Presly meets Rasheed, she can’t believe a man like this exists. He is everything that she is looking for in a man, but she is not interested now after dealing with Houston. However, Rasheed ain’t trying to hear her. He makes himself clear that he will show her how to be loved properly.

Rasheed!! Whew…. The confidence, and BDE that he was throwing out I could feel through my kindle pages. 😍 This man was certain that Presly was his and just needed to get her on board.
Cute story. 👍🏾👍🏾

UMMM this was an ok read but…

It didn’t really evoke any emotion other than annoyance for real. Presley was probably my least favorite MFC. The patience she had with Houston didn’t make sense. He was very transparent (dude came to your house with food only for himself and his response to your frustration is “I wasn’t thinking about you.” and your response was to get into a serious relationship?🤯) yeah NO! Then you break up because he continues to show his true colors and you fall into a FWB deal but cry when he suggests spending YOUR birthday with his momma? I just rolled my eyes so hard this entire book. I think I only finished because of Rasheed but all the whining and crying was unnecessary for a man who showed you way too many times what it was.

I read this in a little over an hour. It’s a very quick and fast paced read. A nice palate cleanser. Presly made me want to shake her. It took her a little too long to get out of her situationship for me🙄(we only have 120 pages sis!!) At any rate, I’ll never be mad at a book showing a Black woman being loved intentionally, and out loud, and Rasheed staked his claim immediately. I’m just cackling because they fell in love in 48 hours. But I guess when you know you know🤷🏾‍♀️

So freaking good

Love in written form was extra nice. It's really sweet when the good girl gets the man she deserves. Yes, I recommend this book.

I read the synopsis and the author’s note in the beginning and went into the story knowing that Presly was in another relationship and had to end that relationship before a new one began, but homegirl was getting on my nerves in the beginning. She kept holding onto Houston even though he wasn’t meeting her needs fully and every time she told him this, all he had to do was apologize and sex her to get her forgiveness and it got old because you can’t say you want someone to be yours but keep entertaining someone who isn’t trying to commit with a title much less provide you with the things you needed outside of sex. The moment that man showed up to her house with food for just himself, should have been the end of that situationship for good because you can’t tell me you want to see me but didn’t think about me when you got food for yourself. Make it make sense.

Now once Rasheed entered the scene, I was all in this story and I wished we could have gotten more of Rasheed and Presly together, but what we did get to see of them together I loved me some Rasheed. That man was intentional and didn’t mind catering to Presly and loving on her in such a short amount of time. I think Presly almost fumbled him from her fear but she got it together and let that man love her like she deserved.

Okay

This was okay, the FMC was irritating, was it low self esteem?? The majority of the book was spent giving Houston another chance and another one and then another one 🤨 until they end up in a friend with benefits, then when she does meet a decent worthy man the book seems rushed

This could have been a great, well thought out book. However, the extremely rushed plot makes it super unbelievable. Also, character development lacked because everything was so rushed. 2 stars for a considerably good concept.

RASHEED & PRESLY

This was a nice short and sweet story. Presly gave Houston too many chances that I thought she was never going to move on. But a chance encounter with Rasheed changed all that. He definitely checked off the boxes of a man with good qualities and one who knows what he wants and how to make his woman happy. I'm so glad he gave Presly the happiness she's always wanted from her man.

If its B. Love, it’s an automatic read for me!

This was entertaining but.. is the FMC a child?

You have a break up in the first thing you do is hit Facebook? And change your status? Reading that she was 35 shocked meee

Almost 50% of the book was with Houston.. Im tieddddd!
Like.. wrap this up.

Loved the LAFS basically & the HEA.

I adored Presley's character, but I definitely felt she wasted so much time on Houston - I know, many of us have been there, so it was definitely relatable. But baby when Rasheed came in the picture, I was like, oh yes, let this man love you - time, be darn. When you know, you know!

Whew! I just about went crazy with the chances she gave Houston, I think the way it was written, toxicity was felt. Art does that some times. Rasheed was a welcome breath of fresh air.

3.5⭐️: Rasheed is chef's kiss! The way he allows Presley to really understand, not all men are out here unhealed and angry, is beautiful!
Perfect easy read, with a dash of spice!

Although Rasheed and Presly had a nice little ending, half the book was about Presly and Houston. By the time Rasheed was introduced, it was hard to care about how great he was since so much time was spent on the toxic situationship with Houston.

It Was Okay

I get we needed to understand Houston in Presly's life, but it was too much Houston, not enough Rasheed. Who's story was it? Rasheed gave the epilogue, not Presly. I feel like it was unfinished.

I DNF’d this one. The writing was well done, but I cant stand a character who ignores their intuition for a man. I didn’t even care to see her happy ending because she spent so much time with foolish ass Houston.

This was a nice quick read that honestly surprised me in a good way. I usually do not care for insta love or instant connection tropes because too often they feel rushed or surface level. However, this book worked for me because the emotional intelligence was there from the beginning. Rasheed was not just saying things Presly wanted to hear. He was intentional, observant, and self aware. That makes a huge difference.

One thing I appreciated most about this story was the conversation around boundaries, expectations, and what it means to actually desire healthy love. Society has a funny way of convincing people, especially women, that wanting consistency, honesty, emotional availability, and intentional effort somehow means they are asking for too much. This book pushes back against that mindset in a subtle but meaningful way. Presly was not asking for perfection. She simply wanted to feel chosen, valued, and secure in a relationship that was actually hers.

Andy deserves his flowers too because that man was dropping gems throughout the story. Before Rasheed even stepped fully into the picture, Andy was already speaking truth into Presly’s life and reminding her not to settle for emotionally inconsistent behavior disguised as love. Real friends who hold us accountable while also encouraging us are invaluable, and I appreciated that dynamic a lot.

I also loved the role Presly’s family played in the story. They supported her without suffocating her. They gave her room to figure life out on her own terms while still wanting the best for her. That balance felt realistic and refreshing.

I enjoyed this book because it was a sweet, fast paced romance with a male lead who understood reassurance, communication, and intentionality. If you enjoy quick reads with emotionally mature characters, healthy relationship conversations, supportive family dynamics, and a man who knows what he wants from the beginning, this is definitely worth checking out.

Mine by B. Love was such a beautiful and emotional read. It tells the story of Presly, a kind and sweet woman who’s been stuck in a situationship with a man named Houston that doesn’t deserve her. He’s selfish, only thinks about himself, and constantly gaslights her into staying with him because it’s convenient, and comfortable. But even though she’s with him, she feels alone—she’s not chosen, not prioritized, and she’s definitely not loved the way she deserves.

Then everything changes when she meets a complete stranger who steps in to protect her without question. From the very beginning, Rasheed claims her and puts her first. He makes her feel safe, seen, and most importantly—wanted. After being with someone like Houston, Presly is guarded and unsure, but Rasheed never gives her a reason to be afraid. He’s patient, kind, and intentional with her.

This story really touched me because it shows how powerful it is to be loved the right way—fully, freely, and without having to beg for it or settle for mediocrity. Presly’s journey is about learning what real love feels like, and realizing she doesn’t have to settle for less just because it’s familiar.

B. Love proves once again why she’s THE favorite of mine. Her writing always feels real and heartfelt, and Mine is another perfect example of that. Purchase it today, and leave a 5 star review. It’s more than worth it!

Fast Forwarded Love Story

Mine had the bones of a good story, but the execution just didn’t land for me.

The first quarter of the book was spent in a back-and-forth cycle between Presley and Houston, even though the preface had already told us he wasn’t endgame. By the time Rasheed showed up, the shift into possessive “you’re mine” territory felt unearned, more creepy than romantic, since we hadn’t seen enough development to explain his intensity. There was a turning point where his tone finally worked for me, but that came so late that the relationship rushed through everything else at warp speed.

The wedding week retreat was basically the whole love story. Presley went from suspicious of Rasheed to planning to move across the country with him within pages, and the epilogue had him talking marriage and babies. The author tried to smooth this over by clarifying how much time was passing, but it still felt like flipping a page meant fast-forwarding through major relationship milestones.

At just over 100 pages, this read more like a short story or novella than a full novel, and maybe it should have been marketed that way. The pace was uneven, the development thin, and the possessiveness leaned creepy instead of swoony for most of the book. A quick read, but not one I really enjoyed. Three stars.

I’ve been reading books this past couple of weeks that just are not doing it for me, but this book has brought me back to life. So wonderfully written! Presly is a beautiful introverted young woman with a heart of gold. But she’s in a toxic relationship with F boy, Houston. She meets Rasheed and is overwhelmingly smitten with how being treated right can scare you and refresh you all at the same time. Her dad and her grandmother are hilarious. I enjoyed this so much. The only thing preventing me from giving it a higher rating is my feelings about so much of the book’s beginning being about Houston. I would like to have seen more time given to Rasheed. I would also love to have seen Rasheed and Houston physically face-off so that Houston could have seen Presly being loved out loud and he be made to have felt all the disregard he made her feel. Nevertheless, this was great. Thank you B. Love!

Houston, we've got a problem. This man was a selfish, insensitive, spoiled, uncaring, and immature jerk. Come to my home with only food for you and his mf *@s would be heading right back out the door. Plus, his total devotion to his mommy, disrespectful comments, and commitment issues were some big and real Red Flags.

Presley was absolutely too good to be with the likes of Houston. She compromised her values, to not be alone and start all over. She should have cut that cord six months in.

In steps Rasheed! He is the best friend of Presly's brother-in-law. Sexy, suave, confident, determined, and unafraid of commitment. He was laser focused on making Presly his, from the start. I loved that this was a fast-paced story that tapped into the chemistry of these two. He was everything she wanted in a partner, and she was all that he desired.

Presley pissed me off in the first few chapters!! That man clearly didn’t like or respect her. He only tried and put in any effort when it was convenient for him and I hate that it took a year and some change to understand that. I was ready to shake her my damn self! “I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE YELLED AT A WOMAN LIKE THIS BEFORE” but you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. I’m glad she had some people in her life who actually cared about her enough to tell her the truth. You don’t have to beg a man to show you human decency! I would have dropped him like a bad habit, but that’s because I’ve already had to learn my lesson lol. She stayed until she couldn’t take it anymore and I’m glad she did eventually come to her senses. She let him go and allowed a man to come into her life! Good for her.

Mine by B. Love is a short, engaging, and spicy read about knowing your worth and walking away from what no longer serves you.

Presly finds herself stuck in a situationship with a man who offers no real commitment. Despite recognizing the red flags, she remains complacent until she finally decides to choose herself. When she ends things, his lack of effort only confirms what she already knew—he was never going to be what she needed.

On her way to her sister’s wedding rehearsal, she meets Rasheed, a stranger whose attentiveness and selflessness immediately stand out. Their unexpected reconnection at the rehearsal—where he turns out to be closely tied to her family—adds an exciting layer to their instant chemistry.

This story is quick, satisfying, and full of sparks.

A beautiful second chance at real love

This book was so real and raw , I loved how relatable Presly’s character was. Sometimes we as women will accept the bare minimum to for the ideal of being with someone. Presly accepted the bare minimum from Houston and when that got old. She started to realize she deserved better. When you are use to being treated like an afterthought. You assume all men are like that but when Rasheed showed up to show her what real love felt like. She was waiting for the other shoe to drop and it took Rasheed to show her better than he could tell her. That he was there to love her, heal her and protect her. Her heart being safe was his main priority. 5 star read. 10/10 highly recommend

Mine!!

At the beginning of the book, Presly is in a dead-end relationship with Houston who was an immature mama's boy. Presly knew that he wasn't the man for her, but she kept settling for him. I was glad when she finally decided to put herself first and got rid of that deadweight. At her sister's wedding, Presly ends up encountering Rasheed. Rasheed is mature enough to know what he wants and how to go after it and that's Presly for him. Rasheed intentional pursuit of Presly was exactly what she needed and deserved after all she went through with Houston. I'm happy that Presly got herself together and didn't let a good man get away. He gave her the peace, love, and security that was missing from her life. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful love story part 2 please

Prsely she reminds me of myself. When you go through so much mediocre relationships, we have to put a wall up and say to ourselves some time there is no real men out there who will be the Equivalent yolk to us only.. Men play a lot of games and women like us. We got ours lives together and don’t have time for we want real love someone who is show up for us the way Rasheed shows up for Presly treat her as well deserving .it’s hard for us to accept that. We been hurt by a few . Who weren’t deserving of our love. to find someone truly for one woman in this lifetime 2025. I pray for my partner my soulmate every day God will send them to me when is my time. I know the story is continue. Please give us part two.
