Bloodlight Lumière #2

Bloodlight Rising

Rate this book
From human to vampire…From outsider to the heart of the city. They say I'm the Bloodlight. But what does that even mean?

One day I’m decoding ancient vampire texts and searching for an artifact. The next, I’m waking up undead—thirsty, confused, in love.

Dominic is my anchor, my seduction, my danger, my everything.

But as the vampire world embraces the freedom of Lumière, a violent cult rises in secret, worshiping blood and the old ways. Their leader, Darian Vex, wants me as his weapon—or his prize.

Meanwhile, vampire football explodes across Europe (yes, that’s a thing thanks to Lumière). New Orleans visits. Students cheer. Terrorists try to disrupt. And I’m pretending everything’s fine.

But the prophecy I’ve translated… it’s changing everything. And the darkness isn’t just coming. It’s rising.

And now I’m fighting for a secret I didn’t see coming…

I loved how The Bloodlight Rising took everything from book one and amplified it. The whole concept of vampires being able to walk in the light thanks to Lumiere? Still so cool and original. But now, in book 2, we get deeper into the tension between the vampires who want to evolve and those who want to drag things back into the dark ages.

The political maneuvering, the moral gray areas, and the inner conflict so many of the characters are facing—it really makes this feel more than just a paranormal fantasy. It’s layered, thoughtful, and still manages to deliver on action and emotion.

Also… the vibes are gothic and gorgeous, but not overly heavy. And the pacing? Spot on. I tore through this in like a day.

If you’re tired of the same old vampire tropes and want something that pushes the genre in a new direction, The Bloodlight Rising is worth it. Jade Christy knows how to keep it fresh while still giving us those dark, moody vibes we crave.

This book brings significant change to Cassandra. She faces many challenges including death and rebirth as a vampire. Dominic is her champion in many ways. He turns her into a vampire because she dies in his arm. This begins a new chapter for them. It is intense and very action packed. Their lives are threatened by Darian Vex and his supporters. Lives are at stake and alliances are formed.
Plans are made on both sides.
Cassie is close to discovering the truth about the Bloodlight and translating the ancient scripts. This is a very action packed story with a lot of drama and hope for all vampires and Nivara. It kept me invested into the storyline and the characters. The author does a great job weaving the storyline suspensefully perfect. I would give her and the book more than 5 stars if possible.

I was pretty excited and eager to read this next book in the sequence. I just love Ms. Jade Christy’s vampires and her magical, elusive vampire world, I want to visit Nivara. Even though this doesn’t seem like such a smart idea, because someone would definitely drink my blood. All the characters are wonderfully written and yes, I did fall for Dominic and even pretty boy Leo. Cassandra was a heroine after my own heart. She was still the same despite being a vampire and still craved pastries, so it made it easier to relate to her. Ms. Christy blends vampires, humans and witches together so seamlessly that all the paranormals seem totally believable. Scary but so real! The story is quite lovely, entrancing and just pulls you in, never letting up until the very end. I think I will wait to read the next and final book, but I do look forward to it too!

Cassandra Burke came to Nivara for research but finds herself at the center of an ancient prophecy. She had fallen for the city's Regent Domnic de Valois, who saved her life by turning her into a vampire. For every bit of progress that Lumière brings Nivara, a violent cult is determined to undo it until all the vampires there turn back to the dark and return to the old ways.

Can Cassandra, Domnic, and their supporters keep Nivara in the light or will darkness keep rising?

Jade Christy does a sublime job of balancing plot and romance in this book.
Note: This book does contain explicit love scenes.

Rise of Darkness

Having been turned as a result of book 1, Cassandra now faces a new challenge. The prophecy and what it means. As the progression of vampiric politics and desired outcomes intensify, the connection between Dominic and Cassandra gains strength. These two were great together, and I can't wait to read what happens next as they gather allies and the translations of the prophecy are completely revealed.

This is definitely turning into a great series. Now we will see who will win this war. Vex needs the ancients, but they will not be forgiving for his failures. It will be interesting to see if Vex is right, but if the prophecy is right, then they need Cassandra to wield the artifact and not her blood like he thinks. From what has been shown, it reacts to her and not just her blood. Can't wait to see the epic finish of this story.

I just wanted some fun vampire reads. The amount I just skipped is awful. I won’t even be reading the last book. I’m sorry it just wasn’t for me at all.
