Trusting Skulls

Lexie

I’ve been alone most of my life.

I guess that’s why it started. The drinking … the men.

They filled a lonely void, but lately the hit of dopamine they provide fizzles before it begins.

I’m caught in a loop. It’s a repetitive cycle I can’t escape.

No one noticed I’ve been drowning in it.

Until Ash Taylor came to town. He extended his hand to me, but I’ve been reluctant to grab hold.

Why? Because he’s a straight up American hero.

I don’t want to pull him down with me.

But he won’t give up. Now, he has his entire club following me around.

I’ve managed to dodge them at every turn.

So, imagine my surprise when I wake up at their cabin, cut off from the outside world.

I’m angry, but as time goes on, I begin to see they might just be the real deal.

Can I trust them?

Trusting Skulls is a dark MC romance. Please check content warnings before reading.

The books in this series never fail to bring me to tears……

Just so you know, those books are not standalone, you technically can read as standalone but it won’t hit the same because the undergoing theme of the series.

In case you don’t know, this is a Motorcycle Club romance series, I’ve been following for 2 years and I still remember when I read the first book and felt in love with. I don’t even know if this series is considered a dark romance or not, all I’ll say is that the entire series has a theme of sex trafficking, abuse, abduction and violence BUT hear me out, the way this author does is INCREDIBLE because it’s done in the other side of the ugliness of the subject, she writes from the compassion side and these books become all about LOVE, ACCEPTANCE, SELF RESPECT, FATE, COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING and PROTECTIVENESS! The men in this club are ALL sooooooooooooooo protective and strong, they are the ones you can count on for anything and everything, for life or death, for love and security. Each women have their heavy baggage and these men help them through in the most beautiful way. It’s hard to explain because those books are very emotional and it’s the type that goes full circle with the “always been you” “fate brought us together “ “everything happens for a reason “ …..
from the first book till this one we have the Dragonfly as a symbol of fate and love and it all makes sense.
This story is about Ash and Lexie, Ash is an alcoholic in recovering and Lexie is so broke in so many ways that it’s even hard to explain, they need each other and Ash IS THERE for her in all ways that count. They are amazing, their love story is beautiful but my favorite part of the book was OBVIOUSLY been able to read about my favorite characters like JESSE and DIRK (the OG’s) RAFFE and RACHEL, JD and ELISABETH, JACKSON and WILLOW. I fucking love them. My only complaint about this book is that Raffe didn’t need to go through what he was going through SPECIALLY after all he went through in the beginning of the series, also it’s not even his book and I was devastated for him, my baby Raffe 😩😭😩😭😩 UNNECESSARY if you ask me and in the last book of the series! WHY ? 😡😡 in the last books of a series I want everything to be flowers and butterflies 🥺
But ok I guess I have to accept because what else can I do? I just love this series and I am glad I followed. In case anyone wonders I am going to put my favorites of the series in order of the number 1 to 8 !

SUGAR AND SKULLS # 1 (Jesse and Dirk)

Oh my god. That ending was so fucking rude! 🥺
Honestly, at this point, I think I read these books as an excuse to completely dehydrate myself via my tear ducts. Just straight crying from start to finish.

I did not see it all going this way

My goodness I just finished Trusting Skulls and I’m ready to pick-up the next one. I hear we won’t have to wait long.

Ash & Lexie’s story went to some depths I did not anticipate and I think we’ll be uncovering more as the series progresses.

To maintain the element of surprise all I can say is it is appropriately dedicated and will hit the depths of all the feelings.

I received a copy of this book from LM Terry. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

This book 📚 started at the endish of Broken skulls. JD and Lizzie adopted Lexie into their family no questions asked just gave her love, trust and patience. I was honoured to receive an ARC in return my honest review.
I inhaled this book, can’t wait to add the gorgeous book to my library when the paperbacks are released.
LM Terry knows how to draw you into the pages. Characters from her other books make cameo appearances so you may need to read the rest of the series which I recommend.
Lexie and Ash make a great couple, Lexie is fierce and has been through so much even from an early age she is smart too. It takes a bit of time for the fog to clear but when Lexie starts to break the shackles that have held her for so long Ash is just the person to hold her tight. The broken motley crew go and adopt another lost soul into the family that have so much love to give. Who cares about labels or how broken they are. Most fine art has imperfections that’s what makes it so enjoyable. The family that love so fiercely it melts your heart to ride with them. I missed the usual hilarious shenanigans in this one but it was still enjoyable to read. The blessed Dragonfly necklace is in the mix doing what it does best by guiding that person until it’s onto the next with just as much magic. If the next Tale is Brody and Daisy I’m sold before the next blurb is out lol

REVIEW:
Trusting Skulls is the eighth book in the Rebel Skulls MC series and I have to say it is second of my favorites of the series. Lexie and Ash Taylor have been introduced in previous books of the series with this time their love story ready to be told. Lexie has been going through a lot with her behavior getting worse with the passing months which the Rebel Skulls MC members not willing to let her destroy herself. Ash Taylor is trying to change his life by going to rehab for his alcoholism though he is worried about Lexie since she is all he can think about since they were last together. Lexie is young woman that has been through so much in her short life as the neglect of her parents led for her to be taken advantaged by a pedophile that she thought was a family friend. Ash is a young man that has being dealing with PTSD from his time in the military with alcohol which has affected his relationships. When Lexie drugs herself after what she had done was a sad and heartbreaking moment though there was a ray of light when Elizabeth with the rest of Rebel Skulls came to rescue her.

It was a touching moment when Dirk told Lexie that saving souls was not a waste of time and that the club won't let her fail. When Brody brought his girlfriend to the cabin and introduced her as Daisy who wore a dragonfly necklace was an "Ah-Ha" moment as she is going to be very important for Elizabeth and JD in the future. When Lexie was kidnapped by Graham was an intense moment that brought out all of her secrets which luckily Ash was able to save her. When Lexie realized that JD had been the one to order the hit that took out Graham in the courthouse was the moment she finally understood he was the father she was looking for. LM Terry delivered an emotional dark and inspiring romance between to trusting souls that have come together to try to heal the the broken parts of themselves in order to start to build the lives they both want and deserve. Now that LM Terry announced book 9 is Sinful Skulls which is Brody and Daisy's book I can't wait to read it when it releases in August!

Another emotion packed book in this amazing series

This is one of my favorite series, and knowing this series is almost finished is bittersweet. Lexie and Ash's story is more unique than most of the other couples in this series. There is lots of chemistry, but if you are looking for a lot of spicy scenes, you won't find that in this book. Lexie had a lot of healing and growth she had to do in order to take a step towards her future with Ash.

Both of them are fighting their own demons. Lexie has been neglected since she was a young child by her parents, so she turned to alcohol, drugs, and sex trying to fill that void. She avoided getting close to people emotionally for fear they would just leave like her parents.

Ash came back from fighting in a war and turned to alcohol to try and escape the nightmares of his past, but when he realized Lexie needed him, he went to rehab to become the man she needed. The Skulls rallied around Lexie, teaching her that family isn't just about blood. She discovered friendship, parental bonds, and most importantly, she learned that her past didn't define her future. I'm excited to read the last book to see how it all ends.

Please be aware that this interconnected standalone series deals with very heavy real-life topics, so check for your triggers before reading.

Another great book by LM TERRY. I absolutely love the Rebel Skull series.

Lexie is a 19 year old girl who has pretty much raised herself. Her parents leave her plenty of money, but they are never actually there for her. She is groomed by her fathers boss and that leads to self destruction over the years. JD and Elizabeth try and help Lexie, but she runs because she's scared and doesn't thinks he's worthy of their love.

Ash is Willow's brother, he is former Military and alcoholic. He see's Lexie for who she really is, and he knows in order to be what she needs, he goes to rehab so he can have a better life for himself, Lexie, and his Skulls family.

In true Skull fashion, when Lexie continues her destructive path, the skulls kidnap her and take her to the cabin in the woods, while Ash is in rehab. Dirk and Jesse begin breaking down her walls and helping her understand that she worth more than just giving her body away to anyone who wants it.

Together the Skulls, Jesse, Dirk, JD, Elizabeth, Raffee, Rachel, Willow and Ash all help Lexie see her worth.

Ash and Lexie's story was full of heartbreak and love.

The beautiful Dragonfly necklace found its way to Lexie just like it has done with all the women in this series.

5 stars!

I wish I liked this one more bc I absolutely adored the MMC Ash. However, it took a hot minute for me to warm up to Lexi. I couldn’t even tolerate her until about 30%. I had to keep reminding myself that she is a damaged 19 year old. I don’t feel like we ever really learned much about Ash. I don’t recall anything about his history aside from the fact that he’s an alcoholic and ex military. I read the other books in the series a while ago so I can’t remember much about him. Therefore, I don’t recommend reading this as a standalone. The whole time I felt like something was missing.

The book is safe from the MMC standpoint. We don’t get his history, but he’s super gone for Lexi.

Part of Lexi’s issues is that she uses sex as a way to get the attention she craves bc she has always been severely neglected. Abuse started when she was 14 (dad’s boss). The story starts with her hooking up with a random dude at a party. Ash is in rehab at the time. He goes to rehab so that he can be better for her. The man is a dream and she is a hot mess. Overall, it was okay but not great.

Just like Willow & Jackson's book in this series, Ash & Lexie's book is the type of healing journey that is bittersweet, heavily relateable and it's a healing on both sides. there isn't as much angst or edge of your seat suspence in this one either, it's more of a straight forward healing journey. romance wise, while not quite slow burn it is very much not rushed on showing us romance to focus more on the journey lexie and ash need to go through together. especially lexie. i think some of my favorite things in this book is it going more into her new 'found' family with the parents she deserves, JD & Elizabeth, and how it brings us back around to raffe, jessie & dirk and how much they've grown throughout the series. the ogs. now theres a lot in this one that is gonna pull some tears out, for many reasons. but theres also a lot of sweet moments too.

Another awesome story from Miss Terry. I loved the slow burn of the book and the way that the story flowed.

Ash and Lexi, formed a love from the past that the two of them had. I guess the old saying is true, that our past makes us who we are today. I feel in love with Ash and Lexi, their past reminding me a bit of my own. It is a story that I can connect to with ease. Lexi, had to learn to trust herself and her feelings along with trusting others. Ash, had to learn that there are more things to life then what he was doing to himself.

Plot and characters flowed smoothly throughout the story. Each character added to the story with ease. The idea of the dragonfly necklace only adds to the story.

This series is absolutely unforgettable. It’s so much more than just dark romance, it’s layered, emotional, and profoundly human. LM Terry has created something truly special: a world where each character has their own deeply rooted history, yet they’re all beautifully connected through the dragonfly and the found family they form together. The way they give each other space to heal, the quiet patience they show, the honest portrayal of grief and how it doesn’t disappear, even in the happiest endings. It’s all so raw and real. I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words to explain how deeply I love this series. It just hits something in your soul. Ash and Lexie are one of my favorite stories yet, and getting more of JD and Elizabeth made it even better.

This book is book 8 in the Rebel Skulls MC series, it can be read as a standalone as it is an interconnected series but because of the connections and how deep they are I personally believe that it's best to read these in order just so you have a better sense of who all the characters are and how they are connected and how much they mean to each other.

Trusting Skulls is Ash and Lexie's story, and it's full of heartbreak and love. I loved their story and couldn't put it down, just like with all the other books you get sucked in from the very beginning. I don't know how to put into words what I feel about this whole series other than I highly recommend it. Absolutely 100% at the top of my recommend list. I can't wait for the next book.

Lexi’s childhood has left her emotionally scarred and her self-worth has her taking risks despite JD & Elizabeth offering her a home. Ash, is back from rehab and is desperate to be back in Lexi’s life.

Have tissues at the ready for this emotional journey with Lexi, Ash and the Rebel Skulls family who are also facing a heart breaking revelation.

Rebel Skulls MC is an outstanding series and LM Terry has given us another beautifully written story of love and family overcoming horrendous trauma.

The dragonfly necklace, which was thought as lost has resurfaced and I cannot wait for the next journey with its new caretaker. I wish I could give more than 5*

ARC REVIEW

This arc fell HAPPILY into my lap. My favorite author and a new book is a lethal combination for me. Now to get into this book Lexi and ash have a special place in my heart often overlooked because of how they act out and how people don’t like them because of their actions. I will take no slander on Lexi because I freaking love her and her growth in this book. They both grown but Lexi is forever 🖤. Plot twist galore in this book. I beg of you LM Terry please have Brody’s book next. This book is everything and if by a sad chance it’s her last it’s a great book, but by the cliffhanger it ended on I highly doubt that, and she left me salivating for more of her amazing work!

💀Trusting Skulls💀

The rebel skulls series is one of my all-time favorite MC series. Trusting skulls is more of a story about healing and learning to trust yourself, letting go of the past and choosing your future . It is not as dark and edgy as previous books, this does not change how fantastic it is! It’s a slow burn more focused on Ash and Lexi healing journey. I love the way this book has brought some of our favorite characters back into the Spotlight, even if the storyline brings out the waterworks. I love how JD and Elizabeth embrace their roles in Lexi’s life.
I cannot wait for the next book and I sure hope we get the long awaited story about Brody and his “ mystery” girl.

“I’ll f*cking spend every day of my life showing up for you, Lexie. Trust yourself. Trust me.”

An emotional roller coaster that tears you apart and puts you back together. Each book rips me apart and heals me in a different way, this one is no exception. Raffe, Dirk, and Jesse are the absolute best. It broke my heart how everyone has let lexi down in the past. Ash and Lexi can only see the dark in themselves but can see the light and good in each other. Together they make the other want more, to be better. They accept the light and darkness in each other. It’ more than just Ash and Lexie’s love story, it’s also about finding the love for yourself.

Ash & Lexie

This story. I’m still drying my tears. It had me so emotional so many times. When you think you couldn’t love this club anymore, you get another book that proves you wrong! So many twists and turns that I just didn’t see coming. I just adore the love between Ash and Lexie. He is so sweet and patient. I’m not sure anyone has ever deserved to be a part of a family more than sweet Lexie. And what better family than the Skulls? I couldn’t put this book down. While I cried numerous times, I am left with a happy heart. A must read.

And of course now I’m anxious for Brody and Daisy’s story!!

okay. so I love ALL of these skull books but this one wow it really hits you right in the feels in all directions doesn't it. I absolutely love Lexie & Ash and their story was beautifully done, but the side story's and characters that we've already fallen for really cemented this one into my heart. JD & Elizabeth omgosh they are just the sweetest. and I have some very harsh words for the author for one particular storyline shes weaving but to make this spoiler free ill not say more, you'll know when you read the book, makes me terrified for the next book for real.

I have absolutely love this entire series and Trusting Skulls was another great read. I won’t give any spoilers but this book had me on an emotional roller coaster. I’ve been impatiently waiting for Ash and Lexie’s love story all year and it was so worth the wait. It’s definitely a slow burn and we get to see a lot of character development for them both along with more on some of the main characters from previous books in the series.
I cannot recommend these books enough and am looking forward to what is in store for the rest of the. Oils yet to be released.

Book eight in the Rebel Skull MC series. Lexies and Ash story was heartbreaking. Lexie is drowning all alone. The skulls take her in like nothing. Over night she comes a skull. No question ask nothing. Just a simple trust and a hug if she ever needs. Ash has lots of demons. With his sister back in his life, he can’t help but blame himself about her. He wants to heal Lexie but he can’t do anything for anybody till he heals himself. Love it .. the skulls are family that will take u on a ride like no other. Great add to this epic series.

*****SPOILERS*******
First things first! I can’t believe you did Rachel dirty like that! She has been through so much already. Second that cliff hanger at the end. Don’t get me wrong I’ve known since their book but not letting us see her reaction! I will say there wasn’t as much spice in this book as the others in the series but it was better for it because of who Lexie is and her past. My heart is still breaking though 🤞🏻here’s hoping for a miracle because I don’t think my heart can take it.

As usual I’m blown away by this incredible read. I absolutely loved Ash and Lexie’s story ❤️❤️❤️ I love reading about the people who gain the dragonfly necklace just when they really do need an Angel in their life. The next book I hope will be about Daisy finally finding her family, once again thanks to the dragonfly necklace. A definite page turner and very entertaining. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you will not be disappointed 😎🖤

This is another gripping Skulls romance, this series just gets better and better.

Lexie’s been stuck in a cycle of loneliness and bad choices that is until Ash Taylor shows up. He’s everything she doesn’t think she deserves, but he’s not backing down. With his club’s help, he pulls her into safety, and into his world. As danger and desire collide, Lexie must decide if she can trust love one last time.

Page turning and unputdownable.

This book is so very good. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but in a good way. Ash and Lexie grow so much as individuals and together. As always, some tough subjects are addressed but that is what makes this series so good. Real life topics and issues being addressed. It's a must read, but do yourself a favor and start at the beginning because once you read one book, you'll want to read them all. One of my favorite authors. 🖤💀

Best series ever

I swear each book just gets better and better, I go through so many tissues.

If you haven't started this gem of a series, you need to stop what you are reading and start this one NOW. You will not be disappointed.

MC, found family, working through trauma and supportive partners, revenge and evil people getting what they deserve. What's not to love about this series.

In true LM Terry style this book grabs you from the beginning and you can't put it down. Big fan of the series and the latest book did not disappoint. Lexi and Ash's story shows you that sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to open your eyes to the beauty of life. Love that she brings in some of the character of the previous books and that they look after each other, family by choice and not always by blood.

Healing and loss

I love this series. My daughter calls it the trauma train series because the way its written you feel everything good and bad. The dragonfly will always be a key piece that brings joy and everyone together. Lexie found people who showed her she was worthy of love and protection. Ash found a reason to be get sober and together they are helping heal other parts of the family when they need it most. This series is incredible! Can't wait for the next one.

This whole series is honestly in my top 5 all time faves. The latest installment from L.M. Terry is a wonderful addition to the series. I feel like this book isn't quite as dark as the other books in the series, it almost has a softer edge to it. It is an amazing story of finding family where you least expect it and family becoming those that are our chosen people that continue to show up for us time and again.

I love all L.M. Terry books, and they never disappoint, but this surpassed my expectations.
A tough story of addiction, made tougher by adding the element of historic abuse and falling in love.

This book was tastefully written, and I couldn't put it down.

this WILL leave you wanting more, this WILL give all the feels and this WILL be a book you remember and come back to time and time again.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. Lexie goes on a journey to find herself and she found her family with J D and Elizabeth and all the skulls. Ash has always loved Lexie from the moment they meet and this book takes you on both of thems journey and believe me it's so worth the read. I would say more but don't wanna spoil the book for anyone!
