My triple axel is flawless. My footwork is poetry on ice. I'm good enough for the Olympics—everyone knows it. But not my traitorous body.
As an omega, my biology is destroying everything I've worked for. My stamina is failing, my focus shattering when I need it most. There's only one solution that could save my Olympic I need to allow myself to go through a heat.
And that requires trusting someone with the most vulnerable part of myself. There are two people who I'd love to help me. Unfortunately one is Steele, the boy I loved forever but doesn't see me. The other is his team mate, Crew. Like Steele, Crew is off-limits because they are both my brother River's best friend.
So I'll leave that decision to my coach.
I just don't expect her sister to be Marilyn, the PR Manager for the Scented Scorpions Ice Hockey team—the same team Crew and Steele play for. And when it turns out the team isn't performing on the ice either, my coach and Marilyn hatch a plan that could solve both our problems. One that requires me to move in with Crew and Steele for the next three months.
Too bad River has other plans.
But everything changes when I collapse during practice. The team doctor who examines me is my scented mate. Dr. Vickers is older, forbidden, and everything I never knew I wanted. Now my heat isn't just about saving my career; it's about resisting a bond that could destroy everything.
But the Olympics are four months away, and all I want is to fly across the ice and hold that gold medal in my hands. I can get there. I just have to get through my heat with these three men without my brother knowing.
But can I make it to the podium without losing my brother--and my heart?
No Pucking Way is a why choose omegaverse romance - MFMM/AOAB.
The brother’s best friend, forced proximity, age gap, forbidden love, doctor/patient, enemies to lovers, not good enough.
This author can't keep what she's written straight. They're at the mansion/sex club and they turn her away from the wall but then the next sentence is him pushing her hands up against the wall before she arches her back off the wall. Yes this is happening this early in the book because how else would the FMC make herself a doormat for the rest of it?
They say something about their interaction turning into "more than drinks" because she knew it was them and was interested...except she arrived, watched the video display a bit, and then accidentally locked herself in the maze and they followed her into it. There were no drinks before that.
She's there for just a few minutes before she gets stuck in the maze but the third MMC says he watched her inside he mansion from the shadows for more than 50 minutes before that.
In the maze she hears their footsteps speed up behind her then immediately talks about how they're completely unhurried like they know exactly where the maze ends up and don't need to rush (ick how often are they there?).
"I know the way she said I hate that I want this like wanting was something she'd been fighting for longer than tonight."
She didn't say that. I even did a search for that sentence and it's only in the book once.
We're still in the first few chapters. 😭 I'm annoyed asf already.
The two NHL MMCs can't go to an alpha/omega club according a higher up with management because it's distracting and will cause a scandal, but they can have a random omega (not the FMC) assigned to live with them to exchange pheremones and somehow THAT'S not distracting or a scandal??? And yes, they have this woman living with them for 5 weeks even after starting something with the FMC "anonymously" (but they all knew who they were by scent and tattoos) just the night before.
What kind of anonymous club has people wearing masks but not scent blockers btw?
There are 3 weeks until the Olympics when the story starts. One of the MMCs catches her scent that day then later says he's been thinking of her non-stop for two weeks since that day. Then the story has the Olympics 2 weeks after that. That's 4 weeks total, not 3.
We're STILL discussing the early chapters. They were about to be outted by the paparazzi so they ditched her in a maze in a sex club she'd never been to and just told her to go home. She's ALSO someone the paps might be interested in as an Olympic athlete that they would have loved to have made front page news but the two MMCs only cared about themselves. They didn't even show her the exit. These guys don't give one fuck about her and they've supposedly been into her for 6 years.
Her coach is just as much responsible, if not more, for what happened to her at the Olympics. Her coach is an asshole who pushed her past injuries and breaking point, and not one word in this book addresses that.
Oh look we're 5 weeks into the MMCs living with a random omega and they've finally parted ways:
"She was also confused, and then upset, and now she's looking for another pack, and I've had to have a conversation I didn't particularly enjoy. So." She folds her hands. "I would like an explanation."
Oh so it wasn't just so they could be around an omega's pheremones, this woman expected them to make her pack? That's messed up asf considering the wannabe "match maker" works for the hockey team. I've read books in this series before with this same match maker but none of them have been this icky about it.
"I should have done something like that for Remi. Maybe she wouldn't be in a hospital bed right now."
The is he coach talking about making the FMC also live with random alphas to prevent "Omega drop" like what happened to her at the Olympics, except she DID already attempt to do that but the author forgot about it. She set it up in a phone call in the beginning of the story that the FMC would stay with some random alpha to get some pheremones to get better before the Olympics and then it just didn't happen at all. And now after the Olympics and the accident, she's talking as if she never even thought of it before.
FMC: "They have an omega living with them." Whoever the fuck this was: "She moved out." FMC: “Oh.”
And JUST LIKE THAT, she wants to move in with the MMCs and take her place 5 weeks later even though she was literally sick to her stomach about them suddenly moving an omega in after fooling around with her. She hasn't heard from these guys in that time either. This is where I DNF cuz I have no respect for dumb FMCs and asshole MMCs who take advantage of that.
....Except now I'm angry and have to know how little they grovel (spoiler: there's none at all).
The FMC a bit later:
“Yeah.” I swallow. “She moved out. They weren’t compatible, they told me. Anyway..."
"It didn't work. She lasted three weeks. Steele and Crew couldn't find any kind of balance with her, and the chemistry was wrong, and she left voluntarily but it wasn't... smooth."
Never mind that it was 5 weeks, not 3, before she left, but also SHE volunteered to leave? They didn't decide to end it? And they actually tried with her??? Ick. I can't believe the FMC is happy to just step into her place like that days later and continue to beg these guys to fuck her and love her and choose her over their friendship with her brother. Have some self respect.
Damn. One of her MMCs knew that her scent meant that his brother (with almost her same scent) was her perfect scent match and he (only a partial scent match but not the same) not only kept that from them both, he continued to push them apart even knowing that same damn thing was nearly his mother's downfall??? This guy doesn't care about the FMC at allllllll man. Not at all. Why does she want him so bad???? He saw her asking questions about his scent and the mysterious one that had an extra note she was drawn to, and putting the pieces together. He saw her needing the brother's scent and reaching for it often. He knew she was healing after omega drop and needed the brother's scent after coming out of a coma. This is neglect and selfishness.
Oh hell no, the other MMC's mom came to visit and asked every single one of them if and how they were taking care of and feeding her baby boy:
"He's always been a good boy. He's called me every night since he left for college. Hasn't missed a single one. Not when he was drafted, not when he moved here, not when his daddy's family tried to get back into his life after twenty years of nothing."
I fear nothing as much as I fear falling for a mama's boy 💀
I actually did finish this one but since I skimmed the hell out of it I'm calling it a DNF. The ending was just as bad as the rest of it.

❧Overall Thoughts☙
The story itself is actually pretty interesting. You have an omega who is an Olympic figure skater but has been denying her omega nature something that has kind of been encouraged by her brother, coach, advisers and doctor (red flags there) because there wasn't enough time to deal with it before the Olympics. Neither her coach or doctor warned her or even explained to her what would happen if she continued to do this (under their guidance might I add). It was Isabelle (another contestant) who told her. That's neglegence right there. There is no way a doctor didn't know and I find it hard to believe her coach didn't.
This book deals with Omega Drops, in that if they deny their nature and avoid heats, alpha pheremones and abuse suppressants they can go into what is a drop. This concept was really interesting however it wasn't fully explained given its severity (she ended up in a coma).
I do want to point out, while this is a standalone book, it is part of a series. This is book ten out of twelve. I mention this because the entire book introduces a new concept on scent matches. One that contradicts the other 11 books as in this book it isn't about smelling nice. Scent matches have the same scent.
That is, the fmc's scent is bourbone, citrus and chocolate. Her scent match will have all three of these in their scent. Partial matches can have two of three. If this was a true standalone this would have been a fascinating take on scent matches. However, given this book is ten books deep in a series, this had me very confused because the scent match concept wasn't explained until 40% into the book.
This definitely should have been written into/explained in the "My Omegaverse" section in the forward matter before the book starts because until then, I thought it was a mistake, or typos, or that the author wasn't keeping track of who had what scent. It did detrimentally affect my judgment of the book and writing as I was reading until it was explained, which as I mentioned above is almost halway in.
The way it is also discussed makes packs kind of uncommon and seem to have a negative reaction. "A scent match is one alpha. That's biology. It's not a sum of alphas." River (fmc's brother) was...I don't want to say appalled, but also not not appalled when she told him she was choosing all three and forming a pack. Again, this kind of contradicts the Knotty Puckers world as the vast majority of the books have packs, none of which are mentioned. Also:
Overall: If this wasn't a part of the Knotty Puckers series, I would have enjoyed this a lot more. It could have been a 4 star read for me. However, it is. So, it didn't feel like it incorporated into the series for me.
❧Characters☙ ❥ Remi (Ω): I did like Remi, however I do believe she was way to quick to overlook Knox and Steele's behaviour. ❥ Knox (α): I kind of thought he was Mafia at the beginning of this. Especially given the way he spoke/thought/referred to his men, what he was capable of doing and his attitude/behaviour. I also want to note at the beginning of this he was borderline abusive towards his sister. Not in a way that he meant it to be nefarious but in a he isolated his sister in order to protect her, had she not snuck around behind his back to have her heats 'serviced' she would have been in the same spot as Remi regarding a drop. It wasn't until she did it to him that he pulled his head out of his arse. She intentionally wore Remi's scent to drive him mad and didn't tell him about her until she was out of the country and gone. ❥ Steele (α): I really needed a grovel or anything from him. He knew Knox (his brother) was Remi's scent match. He told Remi that a scent match is one alpha, not more than one combined to make up her scent. Yet, he wanted Remi for himself and Crew, intentionally keeping Knox and Remi from meeting and denying her her scent match... yeah. I don't even recall an apology for that. ❥ Crew (α): Crew should probably be the pack lead. I don't know if he is or not, or if either Knox or Steele are capable of letting someone else do it, but he was the leader. He's the one who reached out to Knox with an olive branch, he's the one who tried to get Knox and Steele to look past everything and form a pack
Book 10 of the Knotty Puckers series and honestly one of the standouts of the whole series for me.
This one is darker than the rest and I mean that in the best possible way. Stalking, cat and mouse chasing, and a sex club — Evie Ellis was not playing around with this one 🖤
What makes this book so unique in the omegaverse world is that the pack dynamic was not a neat little bow. Crew and Steele are hockey players and already connected, but Knox — the reluctant third — is the brother of one of the guys and he struggled with sharing. Watching him work through that was everything. He is also the stalker AND the sex club owner and I need you to understand how much I loved that combination 😂🖤
The scent match situation was also refreshingly different. Only one full scent match while the other two MMCs were simply compatible. And Remi still chose all three of them anyway. A woman who knows what she wants even when biology doesn't give her the easy answer? Yes please. K nox was my absolute favorite and I will not be elaborating further 😩 Recommended for omegaverse readers and anyone who likes their hockey romance on the darker side.
Tropes: Omegaverse 🖤 Stalking 🖤 Sex club 🖤 Reluctant MMC 🖤 Partial scent match 🖤 Found pack 🖤 Hockey romance 🖤 Dark romance 🖤
Remi’s story had me hooked right from the start. An omega figure skater on the brink of the Olympics, pushing her body past its limits with blockers and suppressants—it already sets the stakes high, and you feel that pressure in every chapter.
The tension in this book? Top tier. Steele and Crew being her brother’s best friends (and completely off-limits) while clearly being in love with her added that constant push-pull that I eat up every time. And then Knox enters the picture—Steele’s estranged brother—and the moment he recognizes her scent? Immediate chaos in the best way.
The dynamics between all of them were messy, emotional, and addictive. I loved the angst, the forbidden elements, and how everything escalates once Remi’s biology starts taking over. That “one omega drop later” shift really flips the story into something even more intense.
The only reason this isn’t a full 5 stars for me is that I wanted just a little more depth in certain emotional moments and relationships—especially with everything happening so fast. But overall, this delivered exactly what I wanted: drama, heat, and high-stakes romance wrapped in an omegaverse world.
If you love brother’s best friend, forbidden tension, and a little chaos with your romance—this one’s definitely worth the read.
The pacing isn’t fast, but it perfectly matches the personalities of the main characters. After all, their story began many years ago. Because it was considered “forbidden,” they had to suppress their feelings until it was no longer possible.
This whole idea that brothers have a say in their sisters’ lives needs to stop. Sisters don’t control what their brothers do or who they’re with, so why should it be the other way around? And the “best friends are off-limits” is just as frustrating—if not them, then who? It really gets on my nerves!
The plot is engaging and full of surprises. Just when I thought I knew what would happen next, the author introduced unexpected twists that left me completely hooked.
We have an omega FMC who, from a very young age, had to suppress her designation in order to compete on the ice. But her body eventually made it clear that it was time to prioritize it. When you push something too far, it breaks—and the consequences of ignoring it can be painful.
The MMCs all have very different and intense personalities, but together they are exactly what the FMC needs and wants.
I loved that this was not your typical Omegaverse in a few ways. I always love when something is unique or rarely done.
Omega drop was a first for me and it makes perfect sense. I loved that the omega was basically having to learn to be an omega.
I also loved that we had only one true scent match and a couple of partial matches as that was totally unique (this is my first by Evie so this may be common for her and I just don't know).
So the two hockey players were her brother's best friends and she has wanted them for years but her brother forbid it. I loved seeing Remi taking control of her life and standing up for herself.
Even when her dreams of winning Olympic gold were shattered she found something so much better. She found family, love, and a new passion. She found herself.
I loved the complicated dynamic with the third Alpha who was the true scent match. I also love the dark smex club with the primal chase through a maze. It was delicious.
Once I began reading Remi's story, I became addicted! I finished it in 1 day! This book had drama, all the emotions, some humor, and spice. The spice was delicious for sure, but it was more than that. It was also deeper and more emotional. There is also so much growth and healing that happens for each of the main characters.
I truly loved each of Remi's men. More importantly, I love that she chose them not just based on her omega biology. Steele, Knox, and Crew... they all fit her in different ways. Crew----- I'm the defenseman. The position that exists to support others. And she just told me, for the first time in my life, that the support is not the consolation prize.
I absolutely loved this book! Amazing job Evie Ellis!
No Pucking Way by Evie Ellis is part of the Knotty Puckers series. These are standalone but characters from previous books do pop in. Remi has been working towards her Olympic dream for many many years. At the last minute her body fails her but she ends up getting something better instead. Steele sees her performance and knows that they are sent matches. He watches over her while she is in the hospital but doesn't let her know he visits. Knox and Crew have known Remi since they were kids. They have been attracted to her but her brother has stated that she is off limits. What will happen when she pushes past those limits? How will Remi react when she finally meets Steele? Can these four come together to form a pack?
This book is part of the Knotty Puckers series. Nearly every book (except 2) are written by different but talented authors. I have read quite a few books in this series and loved them all. I plan on reading all of them! Another amazing story about hot, loyal and protective hockey players. The FMC, the MMcs, and the story are just sooo good. I couldn’t get enough of it. These MMcs are kinda alpha-holes, and had me feeling so mad and frustrated at times. I almost feel like they need to earn the right to even be around this omega. She is such a beautiful and somewhat tragic soul. I love her and her story. Thank you, Evie Ellis, for this FMC! She was truly a joy to read. I loved learning all about her. You have gained a new reader in me.
Evie Ellis gave me a different perspective on scent matches and fated mates in this installment of the Knotty Puckers shared world. The three notes of a scent match, and how the Alphas connect to Remi differently but also as a whole. The interactions and challenging auras of the pack, along with a past that leaves the Alphas at odds with each other allows for an interesting and engaging story. The writing was fluid and engaging, bringing everything and everyone full circle. Wonderful characters, steamy when it needs to be and balanced with focusing on character and world development to keep you engaged to the end.
I definitely enjoyed this book. I liked how the character came together. There were a couple of parts that I found a bit confusing (see note below for spoiler). I definitely recommend it. It had a good brother's best friends, friends to lovers, forced proximity, gentle stalking, and an asshole alpha that has to learn to share.
Spoiler: Still unsure what the dr. had to do with anything and if it was confirmed that he was leaving gifts. Felt like it could've been a random fan and it would have made more sense.
This was a great addition to the Knotty Puckers series and I liked Remi as our fmc. Her adapting to the circumstances of her injury, the slight clashing of her men and finding their footing kept me invested while reading and it was a low angst read for the most part. The pacing was good, all had good relationship and character development and just an enjoyable read. I definitely favoured Crew out of him, Steele and Knox for his supporting personality and dirty mouth during the spicy scenes.
If you want an easy, enjoyable standalone then can def recommend this one!
Remi is an Olympic figure skater whose body is fighting against her after years on suppressants. She’s known Steele and Crew for years and has had a thing for them for just as long. As her brother’s best friends, they’ve done their best to stay away, even though they always knew she was theirs, until it just wasn’t possible anymore. Enter Knox. The mysterious alpha who says he won’t share. Personalities clash and family secrets come to light. Remi finally knows what she wants and decides to go after it. Spicy hot. Loved it!!!
Loved this story in the Knotty Puckers series. Remi is an Olympic figure skater who has an accident and can't compete. She finds solace in her men, Steel, Knox and Crew. I loved the dynamics between them as individual couples and as a group. Despite her Omega nature, Remi still makes her own decisions and doesn't rely on fate alone. The book had humor, spice and a great storyline. Overall, a great rom-com type omegaverse story.
I loved Remi! I was heart broken for her over her injury. Crew was probably my favorite. He was just that glue they all needed and Remi recognized that. I also appreciated how Remi didn’t let ‘fate’ make all of her decisions for her. She didn’t disregard it, but she also didn’t let it speak for her. I loved the little twists and turns that Evie loves to include in her books.
No Pucking Way by Evie Ellis is the tenth in the Knotty Puckers shared world. Remi is an Olympic Figure Skater and has a major accident. She needs Alpha support and finds it in Knox, Crew, and Steel. Loved it. The guys really support Remi and just what she needs to recover. Loved this shared world.
Evie, No Pucking Way is a great addition to the Knotty Puckers series. Remi is one strong Omega from everything she's been through. I am obsessed with how Knox just knows what she needs and he's unapologetic about it. I love the way Crew dolphins all of their edges and Steele for being there for them. River, Remi’s brother, and Knox are two very over protective brothers.
This book had a great mix of romance versus sports for this series. I loved the way it was written to understand how the characters are related.
It was a bit different to have it that the scent match was identical to scents and that people could have some notes of that scent and others having all of it.
A lot of contradictory information. And I mean a lot. About apartments and clothing and so much more. Very weird heats, they are more medical than biological. And hissing??? Why? Too many unanswered questions. I’ve read a book by this author before and didn’t enjoy it. This one is no different.
This book is just really great! I love this series of standalones and this one I think is really good and stands out as one of my top favorites and I have read all. I love that the pack really has to work in becoming a pack so it isn't smooth at all. I won't spoil it all but there are serious bonuses here and I can't recommend this book enough really. It is a must read omegaverse!
I don’t really like a lot of the other books in this series, though I enjoyed the way the author wrote this one. It’s like she incorporated her own stories and styles (scents being more than one for a match). Told from all POV, it had an interesting storyline, moderate pace and good spice. I wouldn’t read it again, though I gave it 5 stars because it was the best in the series that I have read.
Great read with lots of great tension, family, hurt and so much more. I enjoyed seeing all of them find happiness with one another and I loved seeing the omega find herself and become who she wanted to be The ending was great
This book is everything great for both omega verse and hockey romance books. Spicy with just enough plot to keep things moving. I love the characters and the growth they undergo both individually and as a pack.
This book was OK I wouldn't say it was 1 of my favorites in the series Or 1 of my favorites by this author But it got me the story for the characters I was wondering about
I believe this is a first for me from this author. It's hard to remember I've read so many omegaverse. The take on the world is different from how most represent it. Not bad, just different. I really enjoyed the story and her journey to recovery. We got a lot of character development on her end. I just wish more was explored through the men. Overall, it is a solid story, an interesting plot, and a touch of spice to keep it interesting.
The way scents worked in this book was confusing to me due to the detail and similarities. I really liked these characters, and I loved how their dynamic grew. The ending was great!
Remi, an Olympic contender fought her way to be the best but her body, fighting suppressants while on the ice for a medal , and went into omega drop. She denied her Omega and heat for so long that smelling a scent match sent her into a spiral so deep she couldn't skate competitively again.
Steel and crew her bribes curve and steels estranged brother Knox, rally behind Remi to show how important she is even when the men fight and bicker on the meaning of pack.
This author is such a great read, is a fast burning no OWD or 3rd act break up, but instead just men showing their Omega what she means and how she brings them together.
I love hockey romance and throw in some primal play to make me even happier! I loved the characters and how they eventually came together and would love to see more from them, maybe a story from the sister?
