A hunted girl. A vampire across the street. A deal with teeth.
Angela Castillo is on the run for a murder she didn’t commit. Hiding in the attic of an abandoned house, she has one clear her name and make the real killer pay.
Then two dangerous men move into the abandoned industrial zone across the street. One of them is Kenji Sato. He's deadly, charming, and not remotely human. It doesn’t take long for Angela to realize he’s a hitman.
She should run. She should stay out of his way. Instead, she makes a deal with the devil. Kenji has his own reasons for hunting the truth, and together, they step into a world where humans are prey, vampires make the rules, and the wrong move could mean disappearing forever.
Clearing her name is just the beginning. If she fails, she won’t live long enough to see the end.
Ghost in the Attic is a gritty vampire thriller packed with suspense, secrets, and sharp edges. Perfect for fans of fast-paced urban fantasy with no romance, no mercy, and no way out.

This was my first ARC that I could actually make it till the end and enjoyed it. This book was a mystery roller coaster. No spice. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. This is a honest personal review. I hope if you decide to read this book you enjoy it as much as I did. This book had me hooked in the first chapter. Never really knew what was gonna happen and then everything started clicking at the end. I love how two worlds collided. Release Date July 1st 2025.
I inhaled this book so fast that it should be forbidden.
This was a great read. I've been looking forward to reading this book by Anca Antoci for a while now. I've been lurking at her socials to see updates and glimpses of paragraphs. Kenji & Grace is a duo that works well and I hope there will be more books with them - so pick this one up so Anca can write more books and my thirst for vampires can be satisfied.
Pick it up for: - a very very morally grey vampire - badass FMC with a good heart - academia vibe (beginning of the book) - mystery & hunting - kind of a slow burn romance (very very slow but it exists, I mean, there is something. They care for each other.)
I received an e-ARC from the author via Story Origin. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book before its release date. This review is my own and I'm leaving it voluntarily (the book has vampires, but I'm not compelled, I promise).
My heart was racing so hard!!! This was such a good story and so well written! I really loved the author’s writing style. So efficient and really made you feel like you are in the story, witnessing everything. From start to end it was a rollercoaster of emotions and actions! I loved it !!! Also, sorry for getting mad at the author for all the feelings!!!
Okay, so Ghost in the Attic totally caught my attention because—hello?? Vampire thriller?! The blurb gave me just enough to get curious, especially since it was vague about the romance. I honestly went in thinking, “Let’s see what happens".
Now… let’s talk about Angela. Whew. Where do I begin without sounding mean? 😂 I get that she’s young and idealistic, but wow, her stubborn streak had me 😒. She made a couple of impulsive decisions and even when people told her not to poke around anymore, she did it anyway. Like girl, please! I found myself irritated with her several times, but deep down, I get what the author was trying to do—she’s someone who wants to do the right thing, even if it costs her everything. She just needed to slow down and listen.
Now on the brighter side—Kenji? LOVE HIM. He’s level-headed, smart, composed, and honestly the voice of reason this book needed. He was so patient with Angela, which made me root for him even more. Also, Addison deserves a special shoutout. He was the MVP bestie—loyal, smart, and just the perfect ride-or-die character. His twist?? 👏🏻 YES! YES!
The pacing though? Not gonna lie, it felt a little slow for me in some parts. Some scenes felt repetitive, especially with Angela’s inner guilt monologues. I do think the last few chapters picked up and gave the story some momentum again, so I stuck around—and I’m glad I did.
The author created a solid, dark, moody world with some cool twists and mystery. Maybe a bit less repetition and a bit more action. That said, the vibes were on point. Very vampire-mystery-meets-dark-academia. And the way it ended? That subtle kind of cliffhanger that doesn’t scream “sequel” but makes you hope there’s more coming (especially for Kenji and Angela… and maybe even Louise and Addison 👀).
Would I recommend it? Yeah—for readers who enjoy vampire thrillers, light romance tension, and a mysterious slow burn that bites (pun intended). Just be ready to side-eye the FMC a few times. 🤭
-There are a few errors in th book but overall it was a good story. Looks and actions can be deceiving. Angela and Grace thought they knew Antonia but did they really. After they saw something they shouldn't have, they went to the authorities and ended up in an even bigger mess. You never know what kind of strength and resolve you have until pushed beyond your limits. In this story Angela is pushed beyond her limits and finds an ally where she least expected. As she strengthens her resolve to right a wrong and clear her name she finds out that things aren't always as they seem and things that go bump in the night can be very frightening.
I typically don’t read about ghosts, but I love paranormal so I’ll give it a shot. It was a fantastic read had wonderful characters and amazing storyline. The world building was terrific. The story keep you reading to the end so it’s a definite page and if you’re into this gentry, it’s a treat. I would recommend this book.
