Witchy reads are the best!
Guardians of the Veil was my first read by Cooper, which I loved - so I had an idea of what to expect from his style of writing.
It's virtually a Harry Potter story. At Crowstone (Hogwarts), there's the Great D̶i̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ Hall with its evershifting ceiling, a magical map, and there's a Dark Wizard (NOT Voldemort) on the loose. Never fear, the O̶r̶d̶e̶r̶ o̶f̶ t̶h̶e̶ P̶h̶o̶e̶n̶i̶x̶ Order of the Elders will protect you.
Clara (without the scar on her forehead) was a great character, she's extremely likeable, the younger ones will find her relatable.
The imagery really brought the story and the magical realm to life.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and hope this isn't the last we hear of Clara Collins.

I liked the book. The concept was good. Anything magical learning and I'm sold! As many people know I'm a huge Harry Potter fan so this book suited me well.
The cover is beautiful and very mysterious. I liked the colours. It was a lovely design.
The world building was lovely and the magic was stunning.
The characters were great. I really liked Clara. I loved watching her learn her back story and the magic in her world.
I really recommend this.

Clara is a 14-year-old studying to become a veterinarian when, one evening, the stone on her favorite necklace bursts with light before shattering into pieces. Because it was the last thing her late mother had given to her, Clara is saddened by the broken stone, but then she receives a strange letter in the mail inviting her to a magical festival. At the festival, Clara learns some surprising information about a family she is a part of but never knew about. So begins the journey of a lifetime for young Clara in the fantasy novel, The Legacy of the Lost Witch by N Cooper.
While Clara does want to connect with this newfound family, her mother’s family that she was never introduced to, she gets off to a rocky start with her uncle, Cassius. Well, rocky is putting it mildly. Cassius shows disdain for Clara from the very moment he meets her. He is smug, stuck-up, and spiteful. And because Clara is not a full-blooded witch, Cassius’ disapproval of her is strong. He looks down upon her heritage, her upbringing, her hometown, and her friends. Clara is hurt by his constant bashing, of course, but she keeps her chin up and defends the life she has lived up until now. She knows it’s not her fault that her mother never told her about her side of the family or let Clara know that she had the ability to use magic, and she feels that it is unfair of Cassius to hold this against her. Still, she presses on because she knows she belongs as part of this family. She wants to know everything about them, and this part of her heritage that she was kept in the dark about her whole life.
While the magical world is so intimidating, unrecognizable, and unknown to Clara, she knows it is a part of her life that she must understand, even embrace. Her grandmother seems to understand that Clara has quite the gift for magic within her, even if Clara may not yet understand it. She does, however, feel it within her, and her grandmother reminds her that while she may feel uncomfortable in the magical world at first, she will eventually understand just how valuable being a part of it can be for her. As she tells Clara, on page 105: “The magical world is vast and full of potential, Clara. You may feel tied to your old life, but this new one is waiting for you to claim it.” While Clara is close to her grandparents, she seems to be closest to her grandmother, which is a good thing. Her grandmother seems to have the role of a guide for young Clara, as well as a source of grounding herself in this unknown world.
Clara’s struggles, trying to find a connection to her new world while holding on to the one she grew up in, seem almost impossible to do. When she’s in the magical world, she wants to be in the regular world, and vice versa. She struggles to find some kind of balance between the two. Of course, being young, she has so many years ahead of her to figure this out, but she seems to want to figure it all out right then and there. She is fortunate that her father is so supportive and caring towards her during this transition. He also gives her some very important advice:
As she climbed into the carriage, her dad’s words echoed in her mind: ‘Don’t lose sight of who you are.’ She wanted to believe she could hold onto the girl she’d always been, the one who loved quiet mornings with her dad, messy laughter with Chloe, and the simplicity of their little home. But how could she balance that with this new life of magic and grandeur without losing herself? She feared that piece by piece, she might slip away into a world that felt both exhilarating and alien. (Page 144)
It’s wisdom from home that Clara takes with her as she embarks on her new journey, but even so, she is swept away and fascinated by the magical world. But she has her friends to keep her grounded and to offer guidance, which is a good thing. She really needs these friends in her life, the kind who understand magic and can share with her their own struggles in learning how to contain it or use it.
The author did well in describing the magical school that Clara chooses to attend, even including the school’s song! Description of the characters is also done well. It truly came to life, and the writing is quite excellent. Reading this book is almost like reading a novel in a popular series that has the same concept of a magical school and a witch, but it still stands out on its own. The last part of the story took a very surprising and unexpected twist, keeping me turning the pages to read the rest of the story.

Here is my review for The Legacy Of The Lost Witch by N Cooper
I found that I really enjoyed reading this intriguing teenage magic story where suddenly Clara Collins soon finds out about her late mum’s side of the family and their past. It turns out she belongs to a powerful magical family but they had no idea her mum had passed away or that she existed. They made arrangements with her dad that she would join them and find her magical side. They arrange for her to attend Crowstone Academy of Magic where she learns about spells and such things but she makes new friends as well. There are rumours about a ruthless wizard who has escaped from prison and he is tied to her new family’s past. Will Clara adapt to this new way of life and fit in with her new family? This book was well written and thought out. The characters were intriguing and played their parts well. It was set in Hull. I liked that it had a magical setting and that Clara was training to be a witch. I don’t get to read many books like this one but I thought it was great to see Clara meet her grandparents from her mum’s side of the family and learn about them plus their magical capabilities. It was intriguing to see her go to Crowstone Academy of Magic and start from scratch at learning about spells and potions plus making friends, knowing she had the Nightfall legacy to live up to. The writing was very descriptive and everything was described in detail. I got into the story right from the start of the book.

Are you a Harry Potter fan? If your answer is yes, then read this series.
Clara is the main heroine of the book, who after an event will find herself confronted with a family, on her mother's side, that she did not know at all. Some of her relatives will not welcome her with open arms, as they consider her inferior to them because she is not a pure-blooded witch. She herself did not know her powers until recently and thus a new world is born before her eyes and in her heart.
This is a YA fantasy novel that introduces us to a new world. The world building is fantastic and full of magic. The characters are well-written and multidimensional. Some are dark, some mysterious and others giving and kind-hearted.
One of the most important themes analyzed in the story is friendship. Of course, along with this, readers feel love, family, darkness, magic, mystery, etc.
The author's writing is vivid, enchanting, enjoyable, fast and captivating.
Finally, the book is a breathless read. Get ready for a new journey into the imagination!

Firstly I'd like to thank nick for sharing this fantastic fantasy series with the world.
The plot has been so well thought out it was far better than Harry Potter. Sorry just my opinion.
Every character had its own voice so louder than others. This story had many twists and turns I never saw coming. When I told nick how I thought this novel would carry on as I was reading he told me my views were interesting. I for one never saw that ending. This novel had me hooked from character one. I'm not going to do what other reviewer do by telling you parts of the novel. I will say Clara is a fantastic strong 14young old girl thrown in the world of magic. She learns alot about her mother who she lost at a tender age. Her dad was her rock. I won't be saying more I want other readers to have the full experience of the wonders of crowstone academy and the wonderful characters between these walls. I'm dying to see what nick has in store for us in book 2. This is one of the top fantasy novels I've read a close second to black shore series by Tamara Rector. Nick I look forward to seeing your writing journey in the future. Thank you again.

I was first introduced to N Cooper with his Guardians of the Veil (which I absolutely loved!) but I have to say that The Legacy of the Lost Witch might just have kicked that one off the top spot. Once again Cooper brilliantly brings the characters to life. I adored Clara and how she progresses through the story. The other characters are all given time to shine and I have to say that I adored the setting too.
This was a really fun read and I think anyone who loves a magical middle grade tale will love this one. It has very much Harry Potter vibes but, in my opinion, is a lot more enjoyable. A definite must read if you love magical schools, well written characters and fantastic stories about friendship, magic and what it means to carry on the legacy of your family.

I really enjoyed this one. There are some aspects which I feel are inspired by the Harry Potter series, however, not enough to not make this really original. The writing style is much more mature and a style which I really enjoyed. The descriptive work was beautiful, and was very sophisticated in general.
A really good mix of characters and I loved the main character. She has some darker moments when she isolated herself from those who were trying to be there for her, but when she realised she needed them, they were all there for her without judgement, which at the young age they were was really nicely done.
The plot itself was really interesting. Mystery laced throughout and kept me guessing throughout. If you like light fantasy and mystery reads then I can definitely recommend this.

If you are a fan of the Harry Potter Series this book will be ideal read for you. This was my first introduction to the author’s work. The book revolves around a young girl called Clara. She is thrown into a magical world and we watch her character develop through this journey. The book itself is well structured, and the world building is very descriptive. I enjoyed the book very much and look forward to the second installment. I would recommend this book for any age, but in particular YA or younger audiences.

This was a really good read. I loved the cover. That's what drew me to sign up for this tour. I also loved Guardians of the Veil by Cooper. I did like Clara straight away and her friend Chloe. I wasn't sure about the mysterious woman who helped her. I liked Finn, Leo, Amelia, and Ellie. Even Professor Darnell. I liked the writing style and the story. I loved the magic in the story. I recommend this book.

It would seem I can't get enough of all these witchy reads!
This was a fun read. It had a lot of similarities with Harry Potter, maybe too many for me. But I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I enjoyed the story and it was a nice light read after a few heavy ones.
I think younger children would enjoy this. The magic system is something I'm sure they would like! I would like to continue the series if there are further books, to see how the story develops.

FILLED WITH MAGIC and HEART!!!
This book is truly a gem to read . If you love witches, magic, a great story with heartfelt characters this book is for you. Young and old alike are going to love this book as it has something to touch each of our hearts starting in the very first chapter…. Looking forward to hopefully having a book 2 ??? I’m certain Clara and her friends and family are not finished dealing with the trouble that is trying to hurt them ….

Awesome book! I love stories with magic. This one did not disappoint. If you enjoy Harry Potter type books, you will like this one.
14 year old Clara finds out she’s a witch from a very powerful family. Leaves everything behind to go to an exclusive magic school while worried about a dark wizard that has broken out of captivity.
There’s a nice twist at the end. Can’t wait to read the next one and see what happens with Clara and her group of friends!

This book is about a young teen who discovers she’s a witch, and the new world and life that goes along with the discovery. At first I worried it would give to much Harry Potter vibes. But the story found its own flow. This would be great for a YA read nothing inappropriate. But I also enjoyed it as a 30 year old women. I will definitely follow the series.

An excellent start to a promising series. Set in the UK at a school of magic the book starts a bit slow as it builds to conclusion. Well worth the time; I can't wait to see where it goes next. Most appropriate for Young Teens, about eight hours to read.
