The County Line #4

Second Rodeo

Rate this book
Hayes Walker doesn’t lose control. Not in the arena. Not in the ER. And definitely not with women.

He walked away from the rodeo circuit at the peak of his bull riding career to chase a different life. Swapping one chaos for another.
His past? Buried with the rest of his wild days. Including the one night he spent with a beautiful, small-town girl who made him look twice.
He never expected to see her again.
But seven years later, she’s sitting on his exam table.
The one that got away. The one he never forgot.

Regan:
You know the saying, This ain’t my first rodeo?
Well, the night that I met Hayes Walker, North America’s number one bull rider, it was.
Winning a random competition led to him putting his hat on my head, and you know what they say—Wear the hat, ride the cowboy.
One hotel room, one one-night stand, and one unforgettable twenty-third birthday later, I was gone, just as planned.
Fast-forward seven years, and I’m back in my hometown of Whitewood Creek, working on my family’s egg farm.
Have I thought about my night with the wild cowboy since? Occasionally.
Did I expect to ever run into him again? Definitely not.
And I sure as hell didn’t expect him to be the new, hotshot doctor at our tiny community hospital.
Did he remember me? Oh, he did—except, according to him, I was just another pretty face from his bull-riding glory days.
Fine. We’d both moved on... until fate decided to shove us together in an unwilling marriage of convenience and roommates situation I didn't see coming.
He'd stay on his end of the house that I love while I'd stay on mine. Two people who married for the love of a property and have mutually decided that nothing more can ever come out of our arrangement.
Except resisting my handsome, bull rider roommate is just as hard as it sounds.

Waiting for safety stats. 2nd chance trope. Not sure I trust all 4/5 reviews.

Per one review, no cheating BUT MCs both have been with OP during separation. MMC was a former rodeo champion with many buckle bunnies under his belt. MCs had a ONS 7 yrs prior when he had just given up that life to become a doctor/surgeon.

FMC just broke up with her BF in the present and MMC broke up with his GF 6 months prior and has been celibate since then.

Title: Second Rodeo
Author: Sophia Jade

Get ready for the latest Whitewood Creek story. Second Rodeo is a wild, emotional ride from the very first rodeo to the last heart-melting chapter at the Mayberry pond.

From the opening pages, Sophia Jade sweeps you into a world full of laughter, heartbreak, longing, and ultimately, love. It’s a story of healing, chemistry, and finding the kind of love that doesn’t just spark. It grows deep roots and becomes the kind of love you dream about.

The night Regan and Hayes met, it was supposed to be one night. She didn’t want to be sensible—she wanted to forget. She wanted a cowboy. And what she got was a hell of a birthday one night stand. That night, they shared secrets and kept others close to themselves.

Hayes is the number 1 bull rider in North America, the man every woman fantasizes about. Regan is the hard-working, dream-filled ranch girl with big blue eyes, wild curves, a big heart—and a life full of chicken poo and protective brothers.

God help them when they meet again seven years later. The world tilts. The chemistry isn't instant. It’s magnetic. Unexplainable. Unavoidable.

The real magic happens when Regan and Hayes agree to a marriage of convenience—both chasing big dreams. She wants to turn Mayberry Manor into a wedding venue; he wants it to build a horse ranch. But this fake marriage quickly becomes something deeper. More real than either of them bargained for.

Sophia Jade’s descriptive writing completely immerses you in the story. Every word flows effortlessly. Her characters leap off the page and into your heart. You don’t just root for Regan and Hayes—you ache for them. You laugh out loud at their banter. You sob when their pasts catch up with them. And by Chapter 29? Let’s just say I cried tears of joy. It was one of the most heartwarming, satisfying chapters I’ve read in a long time. Second Rodeo is more than just a romance—it's a love story that feels earned and deeply lived-in. Full of humour, heartache, and healing. This book will stay with you long after the final page.

Hayes and Regan meet when he is a bull rider on the rodeo circuit and they spend a spectacular night together. Hayes confides that this is his last day on the circuit and when he wakens she is gone. Fast forward 7 years later and he is the Dr treating her in the ER when she comes in after hitting her head.
When these two see one another again, the attraction is still there and the characters have both done a lot with their lives in that time. Hayes used his rodeo winnings and went to med school, and Regan has worked for her family businesses but now is the time she feels she is ready to branch out on her own. She is the only girl in a wealthy family of strong, successful men, who would and do anything for her. But she wants something of her own and has her sights set on owning the neighboring farm and turning it into a wedding destination venue. The elderly lady living on the farm was a mother figure to her growing up since her own mother passed away when she and her twin brother were born. With Hayes being the new bachelor Dr in the town, he wants to plant some roots and get some horses. Ironically, he has his eye on the same place that Regan has her eye on for her wedding venue. The owner and her deceased husband had discussed putting stipulations for who they would sell the farm to and this leads them into a marriage of convenience. The pair embrace living together to start creating their dream and while living together, they discover the attraction is still there. To promote Regan's new wedding business venture, the two decide to have a second wedding on the property to showcase and promote weddings for future brides. Their wedding sets a bunch of things into motion starting with his abusive father showing up unannounced. Hold onto your cowgirl hats, you are in for a bumpy ride!

While this is part of the series, it can be read as a standalone. BUT make sure to go back and read Regan's brother's romances as well.

“Second Rodeo” is the fourth book in “Whitewood Creek Farm Series.” The night of her twenty third birthday, Regan drags her new friend Lydia into her birthday plans. “Let’s go to the rodeo in Charlotte!” I’d said, bouncing with excitement. “Cowboys, country music, beer, dancing. It’s the perfect way to celebrate!” There’s something about a man in boots and a Stetson that just does it for Regan and she is not going home without one!

“I have zero intention of calling it an early night like she wants to. I want to go out, let loose, soak up the freedom of being somewhere that isn’t Whitewood Creek, where my brothers know everyone and have their hands in just about everything. Nights like this are my rebellion. My little slice of wild.”

Hayes Walker is the number one bull rider in North America. “He’s not just good, he’s incredible. The best.” Across the arena their eyes meet across the crowd, he shoots her a wink and tips his head at her. Later in the evening whilst the girls are out celebrating he steps into the bar where they are and “his eyes land on me and like a magnet is pulling us, he’s stepping forward, abandoning the requests from everyone around us.”

“Come on, my wild cowgirl,” he says, his voice heavy with promise, thick enough to make my knees weak. “Let me show you what you’ve been missing.” After a night of intense passion and the sharing personal secrets, they go their separate ways.

Seven years latter they meet again….neither one has forgotten that night in Vegas! Fate brings them together when they both want to buy Mayberry Manor. Regan wants to turn it into a wedding venue and Hayes wants to turn it into a horse ranch. The catch/condition of sale is that whoever buys the property, has to married. They agree to a fake marriage until their feelings towards each other become something more……

There is never a dull moment. Once I started reading, I could not put this book down! At times you will laugh, you will cry, get angry and frustrated - most of all, you will love the twists! This book will charm “the pants off you” and leave you going back for more. Most of all, this story will make you smile. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story. This is a lovely book that will keep you hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, and physical attraction. You will fall in love with Hayes and Regan 💞💞 From page to page, chapter to chapter, from cover to cover - you will enjoy this beautiful story! This book will not disappoint! Highly recommended 😊

My heart swoons for this small town romance series! One night, one wild ride theyll never forget!

Regan is probably my favorite out of all the siblings! Sassy, down to earth, and the sweetest!! Determined to find her purpose amoung all of her brothers in the family business. So when she finally saves up enough to buy her favorite childhood place, 2 things stand in her way. Hayes Walker and a clause in the contract saying whoever buys it has to br married.

Hayes Walker, bullrider turned doctor. He quit the circut in his prime, to follow his dreams of being a doctor. Leaving behind the circut life and all the women, avoiding commitment at all costs! This man is so FINE in all the right ways! Something about a man in a cowboy hat😮‍💨

7 years later, Walker finds himself in Whitewood Creek never expecting to see her again! They marry to buy regans dream property and things get STEAMY!

The plot flows perfectly with the other books! Their relationship was wholesome as they started to fall in love, it had me swooning!! I always feel alllll the feels with this authors books! The spice was
S P I C I N G as always 🥵

Hayes Walker meets Reagan Marshall on her 23rd  birthday which also happens to be his last day working the rodeo before heading off to medical school.

They share a night together and some of their secrets without a care in the world as they never plan on seeing each other again.

Fast forward seven years and they are unexpectedly reunited first in an emergency room and then in an unconventional deal to purchase a one of a kind house.

As they grapple with their new normal, they must tread lightly to ensure lines don't become blurred because neither one of them wants more, right?

Ok, this was unexpectedly good. The blurb sucked me in, but the story turned out to be more.

Reagan and Hayes have way too much chemistry from the beginning and you can feel it build as you turn the pages.

This is my first book from this series and now I have to go back and read the rest to learn how all the Marshall family found their significant others.

And the end I cried like a baby in the hospital scene. You felt Hates shattering, you felt all his emotions through the words on the pages.

Oh my gosh, this book was so good! It was packed full of emotions, love, and resilience. Hayes and Reagan had such a beautiful love story that pulled me in from the beginning. From a one night stand to a marriage, they both grew into the best versions of themselves because of each other.

Hayes turned in all his playboy ways when he started to fall in love with Reagan. He was not only an outstanding husband but he worshiped the ground that Reagan walks on. The love he had for her was so beautiful to read because he was so madly in love with her. I loved Hayes character and how his story developed with him becoming a man for Reagan.

Reagan was so sweet and sharp witted that she took Hayes by surprise. She knew what she wanted and went after it. The emotional connection she had with Hayes from the beginning was beautiful. Despite her tragic accident, Reagan knows that she loves Hayes because she feels a connection.

The vibes of this book? IMMACULATE.
It had me hooked from the first page. The characters were incredibly well-written and developed — I instantly fell in love with them. The storyline was captivating, and the plot twist was nicely executed.

Hayes is a bull rider turned doctor who avoids commitment at all costs. Regan is a sassy, free-spirited woman who works really hard to make her dreams come true. Seven years ago, they shared an unforgettable one-night stand. Neither expected to cross paths again… but fate had other plans.

Unusual circumstances lead them into a marriage of convenience and a tense roommates situation where the chemistry was off the charts. From the very beginning, the tension simmered and kept building — and I was living for it.

Both characters carried emotional baggage, and I loved seeing Hayes evolve while Regan grew stronger and more courageous. Their journey was raw, tender, and deeply romantic.

This book had everything I look for in a contemporary romance: hilarious banter, cut-with-a-knife tension, delicious spice (with a hero who loves pleasing his girl!), heartwarming “my wife” moments that had me smiling and swooning, and a love story that bloomed in quiet, steady moments.

I don’t want to spoil much more — you need to read it and unwrap its treasures yourself. I laughed, I swooned, I laughed some more, and I shed a few tears (some joyful, some bittersweet). I was completely touched by this story and absolutely loved it. I cannot recommend you enough to read this book!

Second Rodeo is book four in the Whitewood Creek Farm series, but it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the other books yet, but I’m definitely going to. I loved the author’s writing style, and she definitely has a new fan!

Thank you so much to Sofia for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of this fabulous book!

2.5 spice depending on what you have read before, it is open door
HEA
No cheating

This has spoliers so be warned.

This is a mixed review, I devored the first 32 chapters, I couldn't put it down and may have snuck chapters while at work (shhhh) but i felt annoyed by the ending.

I loved the sass and confident that Regan had. I loved that she even through she was only 23 she knew she only wanted a one night stand and her ability to know what she wanted and how.

Hayes, was a great MMC - strong, brooding

I enjoyed the storyline overall, the 7yr time jump felt a little off but was able to push through.

I knew that Hayes Dad was going to turn up and cause Hayes to confront his past, and I was happy that he got that closer.

However I did feel like the amnesia storyline was not needed and the fact that Regan never gets her recent memories back did take away from their love story, yes Regan and Hayes get their HEA but it just felt off. I get that the accident helpped with Hayes's character acr and it did add a twist to the story, i just wish that Regan had kept her memory.

I even went back a few days later and re-read those chapters to try and reconnent but it still couldnt get my head around this part of the story.

This is the fourth book in a series, and the first one that I’ve read. It starts out with a bang (almost literally) meeting FMC Regan having a one night stand with MMC Hayes. At the time, Hayes is a champion bull rider who is retiring to go to med school. It’s Regan’s birthday and she’s recently received some not so great medical news. Time passes and Hayes and Regan run into one another again when he’s the new ER doctor in town and Regan has too many “special” brownies, falls and hits her head. Regan longs to purchase her neighbors property and fulfill the kind neighbor lady’s dream of turning the land into a destination wedding venue. Hayes has his eye on the property to use as a working ranch. There is a slight wrinkle in that the neighbor lady will only sell the land to a married couple. She dies suddenly, but not before changing her will to stipulate that she will give the property to Regan and Hayes if they get married. This was kinda far fetched, but I’ll allow it, LOL! The fake marriage and tension between these two was great. Their ONS was pretty hot, so you really just wanted these two to get together already! I HATED the accident/amnesia storyline (basically the last third of the book). I just wanted them to have their happy ending, which they did, but it got a bit to daytime soap opera for my tastes. Overall it was a good read, and if you like a memory loss storyline, you’ll probably love it.

Hayes and Regan have a one-night stand - a birthday bang even?

Now, it gets serious. 7 years later, they cross paths again, when they want to purchase the same property, and the only way to do it is to be married.
Both have their own goals and dreams, and decide to share the property.

I loved Regan’s relationship with Hayes sister Scarlett… their instant bond was gorgeous.
Hayes and Regan did not have an easy relationship, I knew everything was going too well - cue the drama. Handled ok, frustrated me with how stoopid some of them were, but I guess, in a way it was much needed.
Ultimately, this was emotional, a tale of redemption and second chances, a love story that needed to be told.

This is Regan’s story.
The first time she met Hayes is his last day of bull riding career. They have a passionate one-night stand , which neither of them truly forget. Years later, they meet again in the ER. Hayes is the doctor who checks Regan after she fell. Sparks are flying but what brings them together is the outlandish clause that was left in the will pf recently deceased Mrs. Mayberry.
The story is captivating from the first page and you can feel the undeniable chemistry between Regan and Hayes but insecurities, secrets from the past and an accident that results in memory loss threaten to separate them forever. Love the story!

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Hayes retired from bull riding to pursue a medical career. The night he was walking away from bull riding was the night he met Regan. They end up spending the night together before parting ways. Seven years later, a face-to-face meeting in Regan's hometown of Whitewood Creek community hospital, where Hayes is a doctor. It did not go well; Hayes sort of insulted her regarding their shared past. Regan brushes it off, but fate has other plans; they both want the same land. What could have ended up being a battle to win the land ends up in a marriage of convenience. These two are now living under the same roof, seeing each other every day. Will they give in to the attraction between them?

Sparks fly when Regan's one night stand from 7 years ago turns up as the new doctor in town. Hayes didn't ever plan on settling down but the property he's looking at buying stipulates only a married couple can buy it. Regan also wants the property for herself, the Mayberry property. Right next door to her family's land, she grew up sneaking off to the Mayberry's and considers Mrs. Mayberry like a mother to her.

Great character development, an unforseen plot twist, apparently this is part of a series but it read perfectly fine as a stand alone! I received a copy of this free through Hidden Gems with the promise of an honest review.

Hayes and Reagon. A top bull rider. A contest. One night. Years later. Hometown family egg farm. Surprise doctor at the town hospital. Just another girl from his rodeo days. She has plans. He wants roots. They both want the same place for different reasons. To get the place they have to work together. Which makes it hard because of the chemistry that still sizzles beneath. Throw in a past thats should stay gone and charecters that want to bring them together and you have a ride more chaotic than a bucking bull.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Disfruté lo que sufrió Hayes con el accidente. No porque me alegrara de que Regan saliera lastimada, sino porque él por fin sintió ese miedo de perderla y entendió que, si no se ponía las pilas, la alejaría para siempre.
