Welcome to Sin City! Home to the newest Daddy/ little collection from author Athena Steller.
Lake
There is nothing more that Lake wants than to be a brave boy.
He’s trying. Lake is really trying. He’s making big changes in his life, like moving into a new house with Remi and Dom. Or wearing the pretty clothes that make him happy. When Jesse gives Lake the perfect housewarming gift, Lake knows that now is his last chance. It’s time that he is the bravest boy ever and gets the Daddy that already owns his heart.
Jesse
Money doesn’t buy happiness. Isn’t that the saying? Jesse knows for a fact that it’s true in his case. He has everything that anyone could ever want. Some might call him selfish, but Jesse wants a true partner more than every cent in his bank account.
Jesse has taken the steps to ensure he’s ready to claim the boy he’s already fallen for. One gift leads to a date and Jesse and Lake start to build something real. Between interfering family and self-doubts, the two of them will have to rely on each other to keep from being torn apart. It’s a good thing their found family is by their sides every step of the way.
This book contains MM sexual content (men having sex with each other), Age Gap, and a Daddy/little relationship. This book is an exploration of a relationship between two (male) consensual adults that are looking for love and acceptance. All characters are over the age of consent. No cheating or cliffhangers. *This book contains references to previous child abuse as part of a character backstory. This book contains references to forced sex work of a parent as part of a character backstory.*
Obvious differences aside, this is almost exactly how this book reads. After seeing Lake written no less than 8 times in under 2 pages I searched the name. It appears 1354 times in a 205 page book. I know this is the narrative all the books are written in, but this is next level, and drags the text right down to almost unreadable levels.
I have read a lot of Athena’s books, so I’m more or less used to the grammar/syntax issues by now, but honestly I can’t anymore. This is so poorly edited it’s almost unreadable, to the extent that I DNF at 36%.
It’s become more and more apparent over the course of reading her books that Athena’s second language is English, or she’s using an editor whose second language is English - either/or, they need to do better. It’s such a shame because the stories are great, they’re just very poorly executed.
Lake, a boy striving for bravery and making significant life changes, wants to finally claim the Daddy who already has his heart. He's moved in with Remi and is embracing his identity by wearing clothes that make him happy. A housewarming gift from Jesse sparks Lake's determination to be his bravest self and pursue a relationship. Meanwhile, wealthy Jesse, despite having everything, longs for a genuine partner. He's ready to claim Lake, the boy he's fallen for, and their initial date quickly blossoms into a real connection. However, they face challenges from interfering family members and their own self-doubts. They'll need to rely on each other and their supportive "found family" to overcome these obstacles and prevent their budding relationship from being torn apart. This
I enjoyed this story with the two men who were drawn to each other but Jesse had to wait for Lake to be brave enough to go for the man who wanted him. I loved Lake and wanted to hug him to show him that a found family was better than his blood family. Many thoughts and emotions in this story. Easy to feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like DDLB dynamic.
What a beautiful and wonderful story. Jesse has had eyes for Lake from the first time he saw him. Lake doesn’t want to believe that Jesse is into him. Every time Jesse tried to talk to Lake, Lake would freeze or try not to show too much interest. Lake has been bullied by his parents and some of his brothers. He’s just tired. But they both decide in their own way, “You know what? I think I’m going for it.” Their story is really beautiful. Learning to trust one another, Lake being a brave boy for his friends and his daddy, and Jesse spoiling his boy every single chance he’s gets. Plus so much more. It’s a 5 star ⭐️ rating. Athena Stellar did a wonderful job on this book? 💜
Las Vegas Littles is my favourite Athena Stellar series and Lake has been my favourite character so I was super looking forward to this book! I love Lake as a character - he's so sweet despite growing up in such an awful family and I just want him to get everything he wants and needs. And after getting to know Jesse a little better in this book, I was rooting for him too! Hitting The Jackpot is a sweet, light love story with a little kink (pun intended) which I recommend to all dd/lb romance loves.
Best Bit
When the boys hide from the guests of the housewarming party *they threw* and barricaded the door with teddies. I highly relate.
Yay!!! Lake and Jesse get their happy ending. I have been waiting for this story and it did not disappoint! I could not put it down it was so good! Lake and Jesse were perfect for each other. Lake just wanted to be his pretty self, but he’s unsure about himself and has been through a lot. Jesse wants a change and to start finding his happiness. Their journey was so fun to read filled with fun, sweet moments, understanding, protectiveness, and who could forget the aliens. Of course I also loved seeing the whole friend group there. This is a great book and I highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next series!
Picking up from where book three ended, we see both Lake and Jesse finding the motivation to go after what they both want, each other. A story of adorable gifts, sweet dates, prioritising what is important and finding strength to be with person you love. There is a bit of drama from that was carried over from the previous stories which we finally see concluded in this one and we get to meet some interesting new side characters as well.
Overall, a cute Daddy/boy book with lots of interfering friends, fiesty littles and a brave boy who gets his HEA with his Daddy.
I won a copy of this book in a facebook competition. It was a great little story that finished off the series, tying up loose ends from previous books, with Lake getting his happy ending. Hurrah! Lake embraced his authentic self and became a brave little and Jesse was patient and it was great to see his relationships with his friends develop. This book introduced us to some interesting new characters which we will see in the new series with out doubt.
This was cute. Some DdLb/DdLg books lean so far into the lifestyle that it’s hard to relate but this one did pretty well at balancing the kink while still being entertaining. Also Lake deserves so many hugs.
Hitting the Jackpot keeps the Las Vegas Littles storyline moving and wraps up the series with familiar faces and emotional beats that fans of the series will enjoy. I liked how this book built on the connections and found‑family vibe that’s been growing throughout the previous installments, and it was fun to see new dynamics play out between characters like Lake and Jesse as they tried to build something real while leaning on their chosen family.
I love Lake and Jesse’s story, it’s so sweet and wonderful. I love how Lake decides to be a brave boy so he can get all the wonderful things he wants in life. I love how Jesse knows that Lake is the perfect boy for him and sets about showing Lake he can be his perfect Daddy. They are so sweet together and the ending is perfect. I recommend this book!
This was a sweet addition to the series. I'm glad that Lake and Jesse got to connect as well as seeing the found family that they've made. I hope to see more of his brother Justice in the future. I would love to see Mason get his own story too. I hope the author continues to expand this world.
I’ve been waiting for Lake & Jesse’s story. Watching Lake come in to his own & find the Daddy of his dreams, a found family, and Jesse now claiming Lake as his boy is the best happy ever after any reader could ask for.
Been waiting for this book and it didn't disappoint. I love this series and all this authors books. If you haven't read this author and love Daddy and little books I highly recommend
Finally, the brave boy gets his Daddy and a small piece of his family back…the good piece. Always fun to watch the boys wrap their daddies around their little fingers!!
The book was great, and I was glad to see Lake get his happy ending, but I wish there had been a bit more drama. We found out Lake’s parents were trying to find him, but they never did? And there were so many times the names were screwed up between who was talking and who was in the scene.
This book is dedicated to Jesse and Lake and how they finally get together. It was a sweet story but there were a lot of typos, particularly switches of main character names. Spice level: 1.5
PROOFREAD!!!!! There’s nothing more frustrating than a decent storyline and horrible proofing. Are we sure the books aren’t being written by AI? This is ridiculous! And that Amazon allows books like this is really frustrating.
Story 3.25⭐️ Spice 2.75🌶️ As with all of Athena’s books the editing is atrocious. There is very little Little time in this book. And yet again, the cover is just so wrong. If that’s supposed to be Jesse, he is about 2 decades too young.
I’ve been looking forward to Lake and Jesse’s book and in many ways it met expectations. My only disappointment is that the story seemed to end abruptly.
Lake doesn’t think he deserves to be happy. He is very unsure of himself. But with the help of his friends he go for someone he has had a crush on for a while. This is a sweet and quick read. Hopefully we will see more lake in the next series.
I frankly at my wits end with this author. I only read this book for closure on the series and do not intend to read any of their new works. I’m just so disappointed as their earlier works -the first three books in the Daddy’s Boys series - were great. Now, well, the concept of editing and proofreading has clearly gone out the window.
The typos, grammar issues and poor editing need serious attention. If this author wants to keep her readers she needs to do something. I’m a member of a MM romance sub on Reddit and it’s been noted by members how this author has dramatically gone downhill.
Now, onto this book. I love dd/lb and we barely got any actual daddy/little time. Plus the wider friendship group are clearly important and they felt missing from the plot.
It was completely dissatisfying as to the resolution with Lake’s parents - there was none, just a discussion with one of the non shitty brothers. Then the overarching plot with Ezra’s parents, who (I think) wanted to kidnap him and his daughter back to the commune, that had the lamest resolution ever.
So I cannot recommend this at all, not only was it poorly written it wasn’t even decent on the dd/lb side of things.
