Wow 😲, this third book in the series is where Jahquel J. absolutely cranked the drama up to eleven! If you’ve been following the saga, you know the characters are messy, but this volume felt like an intense climax of secrets and confrontations.
I was constantly on edge as the narrative focused on Ace potentially losing everything to the man she once loved, and Sinclair dealing with a personal tragedy while trying to keep her past with Polite hidden. Seriously, the betrayal, the buried secrets, and the life changing twists had me yelling at the air 😂. I couldn't stop reading!
This book is a deep dive into the emotional fallout of all the choices made in the previous books. It raises the biggest question of all: after all the heartbreak and chaos, is a happy ending even possible for any of these people?
🎧 The Audiobook Experience
For those who listen, the dual narration by Simone Rothschild and Myles Washington truly elevates the drama, giving distinct and intense voices to the different character perspectives. With such high-stakes emotional content and rapid-fire dialogue, having two talented narrators brings an immersive, almost cinematic feel to the story. If you're a fan of audio, this book makes for a riveting listen that will keep you on the edge of your seat during your commute or workout.
This book got me heated, and I couldn't put it down! Let’s just say, Ace is out here thinking she's perfect, but everyone around her is wrong. I mean, she really believes the world owes her something, and it gets old fast. I completely agree with Bishop he sees through her selfishness, and honestly, she deserved to be called out. Then we’ve got Val and Polite, who seem to have the least amount of drama in the whole book, which is kind of a blessing. But, of course, Polite wasn’t totally upfront about being single, and that’s a huge red flag. You can’t be out here acting like you’ve got no one else waiting in the wings, especially when your baby mama is involved. But the wildest character has to be Sin—she’s totally lost it. Seriously, "I’ll wait until you break up with your fiancé"? Girl, no. That’s a mess and a half. Sin’s logic is completely off, and I was cringing the whole time.
And don’t even get me started on the grandma, who is holding all these secrets like she’s the gatekeeper of chaos. What’s going on there?? I’m already ready for book 4 to spill all the tea and finally give us some answers.
Of course, as soon as you get into the audiobook, it’s over with a cliffhanger. I am enjoying this series now I have to wait till January 6 for the last audiobook to be released so that I can finish. Narrators are doing a great job in telling the story. I don’t do spoilers outside of letting you know that as usual it’s a cliffhanger. Will definitely recommend and if it’s an audio, the recommendation will happen after January 6.
