She was supposed to be cargo. Now she’s everything.
Quinn Gellar was just another high-value target to recover. Get in, extract the diplomat, get out. Simple.
But then I saw her—bruised, defiant, still trying to negotiate her way out of hell. And something in me snapped.
Now I’m not just protecting her. I’m claiming her.
She thinks she can walk away once the mission’s done. But she doesn’t get it yet.
She’s not leaving my side. Not leaving my bed. Not leaving me.
Because the galaxy thinks she’s theirs. Let me show them what claimed really means.
Read on for forced proximity, alien bodyguard romance, and a warlord with a soft spot for his human. She was supposed to be a mission—until she became his obsession. HEA Guaranteed.
Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.
She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.
Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!
The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!
When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)
There were times where responses seem to be missing. Like below, we're waiting for Daria to respond with a name and then the next character responds with the name that was never said. Just seems like there is missing dialog. Unsure if it's on purpose but it's made it confusing to read.
“Who?” I demand, my voice cutting through the stillness. Daria’s image flickers, her face pale and drawn under the dim light of whatever hovel she’s calling from. I lean closer, my fists clenched so tightly my nails dig into my palms.
“You know,” he starts, his voice casual in a way that immediately makes me suspicious, “the boss isn’t such a bad guy. Once you get to know him, I mean.” I snort, “He’s impulsive, rude, and cocky. What’s not to love?” Gas chuckles, his furry shoulders bouncing. “Yeah, sure. He’s all those things. But he’s also got a good heart. And he’d never do anything dishonorable.”
I really loved this book. This story was such a fun adventure. Fast-paced and exciting right from the start. I was completely hooked. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Varnok and Quinn. I loved Varnok's personality from his very first chapter. I knew he would be fun. Teasing, lighthearted, confident, but definitely has the skills to back it up. Quinn was smart, quick thinking, and knew how to deal with people. She was also very brave and determined. Her face off with Reku was admirable and she refused to break even against certain death.
These two had such great chemistry. Yet I loved how they worked together. There was a lot at stake. There was excitement, danger, and action. I also liked the supporting characters. And I loved T'vek- she was awesome and had such a fun personality. 5 stars
"I love you," I say, the words feeling strange yet perfect on my tongue. "I didn't know what that meant before. I thought it was weakness. But it's not—it's the greatest strength I've ever known."
Thrilling, packed with intrigue, danger, and sensual heat. Quinn, a human mediator, is on her way to a meeting to keep the fragile peace intact after the Centuries War. Her ship is captured and she is gravely wounded when she is rescued by a Vakutan Warrior, Varnok, who is then assigned as her bodyguard. Their attraction is instantaneous but they resist before they give in to their intense passion - while around them the fate of the Solari people on Jwoon X hangs in the balance and it will take all the ability that Quinn, and unexpectedly Varnok, has to avoid new war. Loved how their relationship deepened as they came to rely on each other’s strengths.

Quinn is an ambassador on the way to a crucial meeting where she needs to help avoid a takeover or a war or a combination. Then her ship is taken and she wakes up in a pirate's hold chained up. Varnok the Annihilator and a Vakutan follows a trail to where the kidnapped ambassador was taken and manages to rescue her. Then he's assigned as her bodyguard. Quinn isn't sure Varnok has it in him to be discreet and now they both are to be in the negotiations. Well this will go good or bad fast. Unfortunately feelings start to get involved and when that happens---chaos. Another fantastic story about the Vakutan and humans. The play between the two are intense and sometimes giggly but also a bit eye opening.

What a fantastic story! It was full of action, adventure and lots of spice between Ambassador Quinn Gellar and Varnok the Annihilator. These two characters meet when he is rescuing her from space pirates who were paid to remove Quinn from some very sensitive negotiations. Needless to say they caused sparks of a sexual kind as well as personality clashes. When they discover that they are Jalshagar to each other, they work together to fight for peace and head in to their eternity together.

Quinn has a big job on her shoulders trying to prevent a war that could drag the whole galaxy in. When her ship is attacked and she is kidnapped, Var is sent to rescue her and then becomes her bodyguard. They realize pretty quickly that there is a spark between them and that they have the same goal in mind when dealing with the delegates.

Caught up in negotiation to de-escalate hostilities was a great place for the two main characters to be. Quinn and Varnor really were the typical opposites attract pair. Lots of action with suspense surrounding the negotiations and our key couple finding more to like about each other made this a fun story to read.

Nothing better than a story that starts with a whole lot of action. Quinn gets kidnapped an Vernok crashes (literally) into the situation to save her with his quick humour and quicker actions that save her. Then she has this fast talking, annoying guy become her bodyguard for the big political function she has to navigate. I never laughed so hard or was on the edge of my seat to see what would happen next. This is a must read.
The author has given us a heart pounding story that pulls us into the lives of Quinn and Varnok. The story keeps us turning the pages with a kidnapping, danger, action, the threat of war, connection and steam.

Arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. when Quinn Gellar finds herself in a pickle varnok the annihiller is the valutan you never seen coming and boy these two have chemistry good and bad. Fantastic
Another enjoyable and quick read from this author. Quinn finds herself abducted while on a mission. Varnok becomes her rescuer, determined to claim her, as they work through events that put them together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story was good, but it was completely overshadowed by middle school snarkiness. The banter was relentless, and I kept forgetting that the story was about adults. Just sad.
