The Eagle & The Dragon: A Novel of World War III

Rate this book
An economic downturn has shaken China’s foundations, threatening the grip of its ruling elite. Facing internal unrest and an existential political crisis, Beijing's leaders take a desperate gamble—one that will plunge the world into chaos. Their strategy is bold, methodical, and destabilize the United States from within, weaken its alliances, and pave the way for a bold military move to reclaim Taiwan.

The first step? Mexico.

As cartel violence surges and political instability threatens to engulf America's southern neighbor, few realize that a shadow war is already underway. A vast network of Chinese spies, cyber operatives, and military planners have infiltrated Latin America, fueling unrest and crippling Washington’s ability to respond. As the U.S. scrambles to contain the crisis, it becomes clear that this is only the opening salvo in a much larger conflict—one that will be fought across the Pacific, the Middle East, and beyond.

From the war rooms of Beijing and Washington to the frontlines of covert operations, The Eagle & The Dragon delivers a gripping, high-stakes thriller that reads like tomorrow’s headlines. Packed with pulse-pounding action, meticulously researched military strategy, and a terrifyingly plausible vision of global war, this is the first installment in a series that will redefine the modern geopolitical thriller.

The world is on the brink. The battle for the 21st century has begun.

I personally think this book and story line is awesome. The read keeps you on the edge of your seat and reading late into the night. Mr. Webber is a great story teller and for action military junkies like myself, it's a great addition to your collection. In fact, this book was so good that I immediately purchased the 2nd book in the series and wow, what a ride. I can't wait to read the 3rd book and beyond of this series. Thank You John for the amazing journey and sharing your story telling and writing skills.

Interesting Take on WW3. No AI

This is a more conventional take on the WW3 scenario. Great misdirection and diversion. No AI, so it is more current day relevant. Very interested to see how this develops in coming books.

Excellent! Slow start with excessive exposition, but gets down to it eventually. I kind of wonder if this is happening now.

the second Mexican–American War prelude to WW3

Lay I joyed a novel where America finally takes the war to the Cartels I fill there where aspects that where rushed.

One all the communications in Mexico City during the war should’ve gotten flagged by signals intelligence (SIGINT) has those calls should’ve drawn eyebrows. Then there’s the Mexican military’s lack of details on it’s navy has you completely didn’t say a thing about them that it felt strange. Theys two points were the biggest but not the inly ones.

In your next book you should try and set it with even minor chacthers in other branches of military services to give the opposing side justification in why they weren’t used.

Seems to be a realistic scenario.

Some of the technical details are surprisingly wrong, and the President and his advisors seem quite stereotypical, but, unfortunately, the scenario is all too real, especially as the US gets strategically outplayed by the Chinese and others. In any event, as a novel, it is quite gripping, and I am looking forward to the next volume.

Zzzzzzz

A novel of WWiii? Where? Cause this book is all china and mexico. Not much war. Author thinks aircraft carriers run like a municipal airport…Pilots don’t get on their plane while its ON the catapult. And they don’t get “cleared for takeoff” by radio with the tower. Watch some aircraft carrier ops bro, this was painful.

This was a good story with an insightful plot. The main detractors were a minor characters name change during the last half and words, that whilst spelt correctly, were out of context to the sentence. Didn’t detract too much from an otherwise good yarn.

Excellent read and great start for the series

Very well done development of the Mexican segment and the political interplay in Beijing. Within limits character development is okay. Definitely worth a read

well developed plot

Action parts get interesting quickly. Not chapter after chapter of adverbs and adjectives . Next book in the series should be fun.

A MUST read! Superb. John Webber wrote what I feel is going to be remembered as the start of a masterpiece series. This guy knows his stuff.

The plot, while involved, is believable and scary at the same time. Lot of attention to specific locations as well. Had to look a few up on the Google maps.
