What happens when postponed wedding plans, a grumpy mayor, and an unexpected guest collide just days before Christmas?
Grace thought this Christmas would be the most magical one yet—until a sudden change in town leadership puts her beloved holiday traditions at risk. With her wedding postponed and the role of interim mayor filled by a man who proudly considers 'Scrooge' his mentor, Grace must rally the town—and her own hope—to save the season.
But just when things seem like they can’t get any more complicated, an unexpected guest arrives, throwing a wrench into her carefully laid plans. With Christmas Eve approaching, Grace discovers that sometimes the best gifts are the ones you never saw coming.
Full of charm, holiday spirit, and heartwarming surprises, Countdown to Christmas Eve is a feel-good story about second chances, small-town magic, and finding joy even when everything fails to go according to plan.
While each book has its own special charm, this series follows a continuing storyline with growing relationships and deepening connections. For the coziest and most rewarding reading experience, I recommend starting from the beginning and enjoying the journey in order.

The final installment of The Countdown Series was just as good as I thought it would be. I'm so glad that the author didn't include Cole and Grace's wedding in it as it definitely deserves its own book.
I absolutely LOVE Rebekah's redemption arc coming full circle. Her mother is a freaking menace to society. I doubt we've seen the last of her, though.
I hope that Derek, even though he was a giant jerk through almost the entire book, sticks around. He definitely isn't the worst that Wintertown has seen or will see!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book as it was gifted to me. Was it a romance? Cozy mystery? I couldn’t tell by the cover either and even reading half of it I still couldn’t tell.
It clearly isn’t a romance as Grace the main character NEVER talks or even thinks about her fiancé. And keeps reminding people the canceled wedding. Then she met the grumpy but shouldn’t be mayor Derek I thought it may be a Christmas romcom and thought it’d be predictable but cozy romance where she falls for the mayor. Nope. Not that either. So a contemporary? Back to Derek, the real elected mayor is gone for family reasons and has his coworker who is a realtor be the interim mayor? Pretty sure it doesn’t work like that. Derek is grumpy and wishing Grace’s plan for a Christmas Experience come to nothing.
The book is set up in small chapters to read each day to Christmas that correlates to the story too. But half way into the book, I didn’t care for the main character or any characters. Being the 8th book in a series, I was throw into the town and I don’t have much interest in following Grace’s day. I love small town stories but I doubt the small town is so far removed that Grace wouldn’t know about cross contamination and gluten allergies. It was such a small thing but really ruined the image of her being a inn/b&b owner. Really? So then I looked up the book and it came out in 2025. She would know about cross contamination.
Even half way in, I know there’s a Christmas Experience that she dedicates her mornings for community meetings to but I’m not sure why because inns/b&bs don’t need to entertain, and that she always cooks breakfast but not for guests? And she really likes to shop. She does it almost daily. So every day I read about her super short meeting that should’ve been an email, cooking breakfast and shopping repeated.
Dnf half way in. This book wasn’t for me. Still not sure of the genre to know who it’s for. But I suppose if you like holidays, it could be fun.
And looking at the series, the next book is her wedding to the original fiancée.

What a beautiful story. I love watching Grace and Cole’s love grow and watching how much Grace and, well everyone loves granny and Gladys. The love for friends and families soar out of this world and it makes my heart so happy. I was disappointed at the end because I thought this was the last book and boy was I the happiest person around when I found out that there were two more books, which I quickly purchased both. Amazing job by Dianna Houx.
I truly recommend this series…. Great stories!! Very addictive… you start reading one book and you can’t put them down. I read all of them in less than a week!!! Great writer … Thank you Dianna … enjoyed reading your books!! Now time to see if there is one more where Grace and Cole get married.
Sweet Grace’s story continues to Christmas Eve. Another B&B full of guests and activities, decorations and food. Oh, and a delayed wedding and Mayor Scrooge. A great fun escape for the Christmas Season. Really enjoyed it! 💚❤️🎄❤️💚
Such a good Holiday book. It has been a year since I read the 1st book of the series and a year latter just down to the last one, which I will read after the 1st of the year.
