God's Abundant Mercy is an impactful and beautiful reminder of God's perfect and unchanging character. The 40 practical devotionals each include an anecdote or experience, scripture, insight into human nature with fascinating facts, thought-provoking questions, and prayer. This is no ordinary devotional book, though. It is a deeper dive into different aspects of mercy, many of which we don't necessarily think about or practice. But we should. People of the Bible are highlighted, flaws and all. The truth is presented openly and frankly without cozy fluff, yet etched with compassion. The author always points to Christ.

My heart and mind were struck with lightbulb moments over and over again. This truly is a life-changing book full of wisdom, one which should be mandatory reading for every Christian regardless of what season you are in. I really appreciate peeling back the layers to get to the core of scripture and thinking deeply and introspectively. The author has the ability to offer guidance without spoon feeding. The writing itself is smart and conversational in tone, a pleasure to read and study. I would love to learn more about God's character and attributes from this author's perspective!

Reading “God’s Abundant Mercy: 40 Days of Living in His Compassion” despite not being a lifelong student of the Bible, has opened my eyes to the beauty and power of the Bible. The author not only includes her own personal stories regarding God‘s mercy, but she also vividly portrays the lives and struggles of the people in the story of the Bible referencing where we can go deeper in reading the Bible. She also opened my eyes to God‘s own personality, drawing me closer to Him. There’s a question the author asks us on page 69 that I love: “Have you become friends with God through Jesus Christ?” At the end of each daily entry, the author has a couple of questions for us to think about together with a prayer reflecting upon that day. I am excited and hopeful that readers with varying levels of bible knowledge will gain a deeper understanding of biblical mercy in ways that can change our culture.

In a world struggling to keep its head above the waves of opinion and self-promotion, God's Abundant Mercy invites believers to live another way. Lori Stanley Roeleveld writes honestly, and with much grace, to gently disturb our reliance on our own self. She points our hearts and minds towards the Biblical truth of God's incredible mercy, not just as the blueprint for how we might show compassion to others, but as a deep spiritual journey we can take into the abundant love of our Savior.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the author and publishers and have excitedly been awaiting its publication because I want to share it with others. This is an important devotional. Each 'day' Lori shares a personal reflection, encourages readers to dig deeper into God's word, offers questions for reflection and a suggested prayer. Highly recommended for both personal and group use. This is possibly my favourite non-fiction new release of 2026!

God's Abundant Mercy, 40 Days of Living in His Compassion by Lori Stanley Roeleveld is a much deeper dive into the mercy of God than the usual devotions for women that I have read. While each devotion is a little longer than most, they are not long chapters. They are a scripture-based look at the mercy of God which sometimes can seem the opposite of His holiness and justice. A thoughtful look at these characteristics in the Bible and how God works in our lives. After reading each devotion I am moved to consider the closing thought, prayer and application of showing God’s mercy and our gratitude to others. It has forced me to look at mercy from a Godly view instead of one from a self-righteous human perception. A powerful book that will help in Christian growth.

God’s Abundant Mercy is a lovely devotional containing personal stories, applicable scriptures, prayers, and reflective questions. As an English teacher and avid reader, I especially appreciate how the author includes quotes in each devotion from classic works like Augustine’s Confessions to Susan Meissner’s The Shape of Mercy, one of my favorite recent reads. Of course, she also references Shakespeare’s “quality of mercy” speech! This book is great reminder of God’s gift of compassion to us and the need for us to show mercy to others and ourselves.

This 40 day devotional makes the reader take a deeper look at God's wonderful gift of mercy. Each devotion draws the reader into a closer understanding of the breadth of the Father's compassion. Everyday examples paired with scripture brings a fresh perspective and doesn't shy away from life's pain or failure. The reader is left with nuggets of wisdom on which to meditate. This is a great companion for anyone's spiritual journey.

What a wonderful way to encourage your walk with the Lord. Each reading makes God's word come to life in an honest, inspiring and meaningful way for the reader to reflect on. It doesn't take long to read each chapter and I love the scripture and thoughtful questions at the end. This is just one more way to draw us closer to Him. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for encouragement. It’s so beautiful, it makes a perfect gift.

God’s Abundant Mercy digs deeper into the heart of mercy than any other book I have read. The author gives personal stories regarding encounters with other people which caused her to think deeply about this attribute of God. She shows us how to apply this spiritual gift when relating to our own relationship with God as well as the sometimes-difficult people we may deal with.

Roeleveld shares a gift with us in God’s Abundant Mercy. I should say gifts—this 40 day devotional shares humor, tenderness, and inspiration. The author’s personal stories and stories from scripture illustrate the love and mercy granted to us by our Lord and share the powerful gift of hope. The messages of this book will pull me back into its pages again and again.

I found the topic of God's Abundant Mercy very well presented, eye-opening, and thought provoking. The personal examples, both from the Bible and from Lori's own life, brought the text to life. The variety of Scriptural tie ins held my attention and made me think about mercy in a completely new way. God's Abundant Mercy made me re-examine my own life, and how I do--or don't--extend mercy to others. Phrases like "my inner Pharisee" helped me to understand God's mercy in a unique, more personal way, I loved the quotes, and the Bible references (who knew mercy was mentioned so many times in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament?) I appreciated the insights into Esther's life, and particularly David's. The whole experience of reading this book brought the Scripture together in an impactful way. It's a powerful subject, and the way the book is organized, paired with Roeleveld's insights, brought God's Abundant Mercy to life.
