Delilah Rose ADONIS SAMSON is not my hero. I’ve been in one cage after another my whole life, and I won’t let him put me in another one. I don’t care that he calls it love. He thinks he did me a favor by stealing me that night. But I can see right through him. A savior isn’t what I need. I want nothing to do with his vengeance against my family. In fact, I have vengeance of my own to seek and I have no problem ending anybody who gets in my way. Even if it’s him.
Adonis Samson DELILAH ROSE doesn’t remember me. There is nothing but defiance and hostility in her eyes when she looks at me now and none of the mischief and happiness from when our paths first crossed. But I know the woman I met is in there somewhere. She intrigued me before I knew about her tainted bloodline. All I wanted was collateral for the debt her brother owes me, but now that I’ve had her with me all summer, she’s under my skin and I can’t let go. If she destroys me in the process of me loving her, it’s a price I’m willing to pay.
I loved this! I didn't know where this story was going at first, but loved how it unfolded. Delilah had a traumatic childhood where love was non existent and physical abuse was prevalent. All she wanted was freedom to live, even if that meant with barely any money. Once she is finally free, her trifling brother gets her caught up in his BS that causes her to lose her freedom to Adonis.
Adonis is a boss that was born into wealth and the society. He has never really cared about a woman. However, his random encounter with an unknown woman has stuck with him for months. When he finally comes across her he is even more intrigued by her. So much so he has an urge to protect her even if that's stripping her of her newfound freedom, and Delilah was absolutely ready to give him more than he bargained for.
Despite all the bs she had been through, I loved that Delilah still had so much fight in her. She had yet to experience life, but whatever it was she wanted it to be on her terms. Adonis admired the fight in her and wanted her to know he would always protect her. I like how things slowly unfolded and it truly made the love and attraction between them believable. I enjoyed this read!
Ummmm…this book has been sitting in my kindle library for months!!! I can’t believe I’m just now reading this!
Omg I loved this book so much!! My man Adonis is down SOOO bad for Delilah. Like bad!! Before he even knew it too!! He kidnaps her with the intentions of getting the money he’s owed from her brother or so he tells himself. He was obsessed!! He wanted to do anything and everything to make her happy. I loved Adonis so much, he was such a great character.
Now Delilah…I really loved her. It’s so hard to find FMCs these days who are a perfect blend of sweet and sassy but she was perfection. I love the title of the book because I think it describes her perfectly. I mean Adonis’ nickname for her was menace. She might have come across as immature to some people but I loved her. She had been sheltered her entire life so I felt like it fit. There were a few hints at her possibly being on the spectrum which made her character even better.
Their romance was a slow burn. They don’t kiss until after 60% and they don’t do anything sexual until after 80%. I usually don’t like super slow burns like this but Adonis’ obsession starts early so we have the whole book of him just being wrapped around her little finger. The man kills everyone who has ever hurt her!! It was so good!!
Another thing that made Adonis great was that he was so far from a manwhore. He talked about how he never had a playboy phase. He’s only been with 2 women his entire life and he thought he didn’t have a sex drive until he realized he needed a personal connection which he never had until Delilah. She however is a virgin even at 25 but it’s not unrealistic because she was hidden away from the world for her whole life.
There’s some OW drama in the form of a future fiancé that Adonis is supposed to have. He was promised at birth to some girl that he needs to marry by the time he’s 35 to form some family alliance. He’s barely spent any time with her or been around her. They have never done anything together. She comes around uninvited and tries to cause some problems but Adonis is no way in hell letting Delilah go so he does whatever he has to, to get out of that future engagement. When I first read about it I was like nooo don’t ruin this book for me but it doesn’t ruin anything because Adonis is just chefs kiss.
I wasn’t really sold on the whole “secret society” thing. I felt like it was even a secret to us because we don’t know much about it. Like what they do and all that but it didn’t ruin anything for me.
The secondary characters were also chefs kiss. All of Adonis’ friends? I need all of their books immediately!! They were amazing. I’m hoping for Silas and indigo to have a book. I also need one for Victor because he just everything!!!
The only thing I will say is I’m disappointed this didn’t end in engagement or marriage for this couple. I thought Adonis would lock it down. I still can’t give it less than 5 stars though. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
NO CHEATING OW DRAMA (unwanted but see above) NO THIRD ACT BREAK UP AGE GAP 25/34 VIRGIN FMC MURDER PAST CHILD ABUSE (FMC) PAST ATTEMPTED SA (FMC) HFN/HEA
The writing was beautiful and poetic the story was pretty good too. I loved that she really built up their connection and that Miss girl ain’t fold at the first instance of kindness.
As someone who had a tumultuous and often violent childhood this story’s sharp edges cut me in ways I wasn’t prepared for. Though it was harsh at times it validated so much of my innermost thoughts and it was so satisfying to learn how much Delilah maintained her autonomy even though she was punished for advocating for herself as a child.
One thing about Shon, she’s gonna write an MMC who falls so sickly in love FIRST and boy did Adonis fall so hard from the moment he laid eyes upon Delilah for the very first time. So much so that every single breath he takes is sustained by the indifference and hatred she tosses his way with every interaction they have because even the smallest crumb of attention she gives him drives his obsession even deeper.
Bearing witness to the depths Adonis was willing to endure to ensure she was always protected and taken care of literally fed my soul. I wish I could read it again for the first time!
Pay attention to the trigger warnings at the beginning of this book so you know what you’re about to encounter. This book gets heavy at times but I loved it nonetheless.
This story captured me from page 1 and wouldn’t release me. I wanted to protect Delilah so bad, what she went through really broke my heart. Adonis was DOWN BAD…. I ate that up. Watching him, watching them fall in love felt like a reward. Idk if we’ll come back to this universe but Silas and Indigo have me intrigued! Please read the trigger warnings and if you can handle it you should read this one!
This book for as heartbreaking is such a soft, kicking your feet, and giggling kind of romance. It gave me love at first sight vibes and nothing makes me happier than a he falls first and hardest with a feisty fmc. It’s basically Tosha-nip. I enjoyed the way subplot of Delilah’s health was the intrigue, while the romance was the sure thing. Now in terms of pace this is moderate, but to me it felt like something was always happening or coming to light. While the spice was slow burn the romance present from jump. I love this type of unhinged mmc. He’s passionate, protective, and obsessed. I liked the fact the author to the time to close out or bring closure to, all the treads. Shon has a writing style that is easy to enjoy and this is a read in one seating book.
The writing in this story is just beautiful and at times poetic. I fell in love with the characters & could feel their passion. But I’m not sure what would classify this as a “dark” romance, because even as a kidnapper Adonis was mild in comparison. I mean, how many kidnappers do you know will take you to a doctor because you have headaches? With that said though, I enjoyed him and Delilah together. He was pretty much obsessed & in love from the beginning. She was a spitfire initially but with his kindness and consistency she stumbled into a soft girl life and some healing. They were both what the other needed. Each living a life by other people’s terms, they found true freedom in each other. I do think there was a missed opportunity for some tension building in the story with the Chiara plot line, but everything wrapped so neatly. I also don’t really like how the brother was handled. For him to be such an integral part of her story, I would have liked to see him (not just the memories of him) woven into the story more.
Shon's foray into dark romance is a bold move, and while admirable, it shows. She demonstrates exceptional ability in crafting compelling narratives (the idea is great!), portraying trauma and disability realistically (memory loss and seizures), and handling intimacy well. The dual timelines also enhance the narrative.
However, the story feels underdeveloped, needing more pages to flesh out the main characters' personalities and behaviors. For example, the FMC's hinted spectrum traits or her "outbursts", which don't convey genuine violence or hate, undermining the dark romance aspect. I think she is trying to survive! 🤷🏾♀️ Also, both the FMC and MMC are likable but not memorable. The MMC's family dynamics, particularly the interplay of parental harshness and gentleness, warrant further exploration to fully convey their complexity. Additionally, a deeper examination of the grandfather's role would significantly enrich the narrative.
While this book didn't live up to her previous works for me (most of hers live rent free in my head), I anticipate Shon's future contributions to the dark romance genre. And, congrats Shon on your first dark romance!
I viewed Violent Little Thing as a Sleeping Beauty retelling. Before you say " The synopsis says..." please hold your horses because I don't read those. This is the perfect slow-burning dark romance. I found the book to be more character-focused than plot-focused and that was emphasized by the fantastic character development. I found Adonis and Delilah so devious and lovable. Adonis was capable of pulling off the broody hero but he gave the same soft and loving energy as his dog. Delilah is chaotic and hilarious. I love how toddler-like she is in reaction because it emphasizes how much she was stunted by her family. Shon started a chapter with, "By the time I was 21, I knew I was going to kill my father." And I was floored. That is truly one of the illest chapter openings I have read thus far. While I thought the character development was fantastic, I did not always feel the connection between the characters on stage so it isn't the perfect book, but it is still amazing.
If you like your romance dark, twisted, and laced with obsession, this one delivers.
Delilah and Adonis are the kind of characters that grip you by the throat and refuse to let go. This isn’t your sweet, easy love story it’s raw, defiant, and drenched in tension that makes you want to keep turning pages just to see who bends first.
Delilah is the kind of heroine I live for fierce, guarded, and unwilling to let anyone cage her, not even the man who swears it’s love. Adonis, on the other hand, is dangerous in the way that tempts you to lean closer instead of running away. Their push-and-pull feels like watching fire meet gasoline, and the explosion is just as messy as it is addictive.
What stood out most for me was how both characters carried vengeance like a second skin yet still managed to uncover something vulnerable between them. It’s toxic, it’s consuming, and it’s impossible not to root for them even when you know they’re playing with fire.
Delilah and Adonis. I wasn’t sure what to expected from the trigger warnings. Black Contemporary Dark Romance with morally grey characters. I read this is one sitting.
There’s a reverence that Adonis holds for Delilah. The way the story unfolds, captures you.
This story was so good. My first dark romance and I’m speechless. Delilah experienced so much..Adonis was raised to exceed goals without any parental guidance. Everytime Delilah experienced a flashback, I wanted to hug her. The love between them was so sweet. This was a really good read, but make sure to read through the triggers before jumping in.

This book had me drawn in from the very beginning! I don't want to give spoilers! I'll just say even though his love is dark, nobody loves Delilah more than Adonis!
Shon, thank you for writing this the way you did because everyone got what they deserved in the end. Whether it was good or bad was on them!!!
-Dual PoV -Small age gap h25 H34 -Virgin h, H not a manwhore- he’d only been with 2 women. -Forced proximity -Secret society -Slow burn- they don’t kiss til 67% and sex happens at 88% -Owd- he was promised before birth to an arranged marriage with a fellow society members daughter, he’s not even officially engaged yet and has no romantic interest or history with the ow and he’d planned for the marriage to be in name only. At a gala the ow introduced herself as his fiance to the h and she was hurt he’d hidden this from her. But he’s so obsessed and in love with the h and he gets out of the arrangement by paying ow off. Would have preferred he just told the society to go fuck themselves and then marry the h than to pay it off but he was already killing anyone who had ever hurt the h so I suppose he had to keep the peace somehow 🤷🏻♀️ -HEA and and epilogue 1 year later but no mention if they’re engaged or married or anything

This was everything I didn’t even realize I needed. I devoured this in one sitting. This was my first read by this author but it will not be my last!
I might have to come back & review this after I process bc it was just so good and I don’t even have the words for how good this was!
The storyline, the pace & slight slow burn, the character development, the romance SO SO GOOD! I literally have not read a story this well done in a while. Well done.
I love a good kidnapping and Shon executed this trope with precision. The build up, the establishing of trust and the new found chemistry is what made this book so good. During a chance encounter, Delilah left her mark on Adonis. After seeing her a second time, he not only saved her from an unfortunate situation but he kept her for himself. But he didn’t realize what he signed up for….Delilah gave him hell!
Shon switched lanes when writing this book. She went from sweet, sexy and swoon worthy to dark and unhinged and delivered a page turner!
I want to thank the author for an advanced copy of this book. I really enjoyed it!
Honestly, I really wanted to rate this book higher because it started off really strong. The buildup was great, and I was fully invested in the story and the characters. However, after that initial setup, the story just… falls flat. There’s no real climax or major payoff.
Adonis and Delilah’s relationship built up was good but it felt like there was so much more that could have been explored. For example, there was a huge deal made about Adonis being engaged, yet he gets out of it simply by paying and threatening one person—and then there’s no further conflict. That feels strange considering he was supposedly born into this secret society where he was required to marry someone since birth.
The storyline with his parents also gets completely abandoned. And what about Delilah’s memory? Does it ever come back? Were those gaps permanent, because they were trauma-related? That never really gets answered. Indigo, Silas, and Silas’s brother also pretty much disappear from the story, despite being set up as potential important side characters.
I think I was just expecting more of a climax or some kind of major turning point. I get it that Adonis hunted down and was able to avenge everyone that hurt Delilah, but that happened fairly early so what’s next?? I just expected more especially after such a strong beginning—but it never really comes. Then the book skips ahead to a year later (2027), with Delilah in therapy and then going on a trip, and Adonis finally dealing with her brother which felt abrupt and unsatisfying.
Overall, it was an entertaining read, but I can’t help feeling like it had so much more potential than what we actually got.
This book unfortunately was a bit underwhelming for me. I feel as though a lot of the storylines were rushed and not executed as well as they could have been. The relationship with Adonis and Delilah progressed too quickly in my opinion which meant there wasn’t enough buildup to make me want to root for their relationship. I genuinely enjoyed their dynamic and feel like if given more time, their relationship could’ve been a lot more fleshed out and enjoyable. There were time where I just didn’t buy the chemistry and felt as though the love was forced. At other times I found myself feeling bored because there just wasn’t enough going on. I wish there had been more conflict with Adonis and The Lost Rose organization just for a bit more drama because everything just felt too easy to me. I also would have loved to see Delilah go through more development as the story went on; I didn’t want her to escape her brother and father just to end up kinda nowhere. Because while yes she’s happy in a relationship, what about her own career and dreams?
While I didn’t fully enjoy this story myself I would still recommend others to read it and other stories that Shon has written because her pen is incredible.

📖 I enjoyed this so much. Violent Little Thing is now my second favorite of this author’s. Delilah & Adonis ❤️ My first was Roomie, Lover, Friend and I absolutely devoured that! I miss Blair & Elijah ❤️😩.
Both books were the right balance of every element I enjoy in a book: The ability to grab my attention from the beginning and maintain it throughout, relatable characters with realistic dilemmas, a plot that flows and makes sense, some thrill and excitement, humor is a bonus, close proximity, a reasonable slow burn that doesn’t last too long and where he falls first, and some spicy scenes at the right time without overkill.
Violent Little Thing is a black contemporary dark romance. I thought it was still pretty mild compared to some other dark romance I’m used to reading but I still enjoyed it. I enjoy this author because she does delve into dark romance, taboo, and reverse harem.
VLT is a forced proximity, hate to love, revenge plot turned Stockholm syndrome that I ate up! Delilah “Ms. I can do it by myself” meets Adonis “Mr. I know you can, but let me”. My favorite type ❤️🤌🏽😩
Delilah and Adonis was a match made in a cemetery. I enjoyed Delilah’s fight, although she thought she was weak she was the epitome of strength. Her first bullies were inept father and sick ass brother. I’m glad they both got what they deserved.
From attempting to sell her virtue to the highest bidder, to arranged marriages with old ass men. I’m glad Adonis was smokin shit behind his lady.
Out of all the characters I didn’t like I think Weston and Adonis parents ain’t shit. Adonis mom seemed jealous because she was forced into an arranged life due to LRS but how do you not tell your son you’ve got more pull and can make sure he and Delilah aren’t touched…. Glad she came around but she needs belt to ass IMMEDIATELY! And Titus was not playing about my girl Delilah. Even got his own Lassie moment. Delilah def should have died.. I’m glad she did not!
I love the kidnapped to lovers trope. Shon did her big one.
