I am loving Food Wars! It's difficult to review a graphic novel let alone when it isn't the first volume. I am loving the characters more with each volume, and my favorite has to be Megumi! I love her so much! Her hospitality, her caring. She's shy and insecure but she's starting to work on that and realize she can do it if she sets her mind to it.

I also love how Dojima looks at the students skills, not their background. How he gave Soma and Megumi a chance. You can also start to feel the group of students getting closer. This manga is really growing on me more with each volume.

But what is with that cliff-hanger?!

Megumi's shy personality and her low self-esteem made it easy for readers to overlook that she is on the of the main characters of the series. The male lead is Soma, and the tsundere Erina is the other much more visibly attractive female main. The third in this triumvirate is Megumi and she comes into her own in this volume, putting her arc on the path where she can stand alongside the other mains on her cooking and character development.

This was another excellent volume and it's full of useful recipe the culinary curious can try in their home kitchens. I came for the story, and I was not disappointed.

3.5 for me, only dipping slightly in rating. That cliffhanger! I really want to know what breakfast Souma has thought up.

I didn't enjoy Food Wars! Volume 4 as much as the previous volumes. It's a rather entertaining read, but it was kind of bland compared to the previous volumes.

Even so, this is the perfect volume for Megumi fans—she truly shines in this story.
❝Megumi-chan really is the best after all.❞

More solid melodrama!

World: The art is solid for the genre with the food dishes standing out. The world building is solid also with new introductions mostly of characters for this arc, not a lot of building the world other than this.

Story: The showdown between Megumi and the mean chef which I’ve already forgotten the name for was solidly done. Sure there were twists and turns to the story and the ending was melodramatic but hardly original but it was well paced and well done. The breakfast story was also a nice little challenge that continues to build on the world.

Characters: We get a lot of character building this time around and that’s great. We get more Megumi which is always a fun thing and her story is an interesting one. The mean chef (yes, I’ve already forgotten his name) was well expected to have a soft side and his story was melodramatic and his arc was done well, not original but done well.

A solid continuation of the story.

Onward to the next book!

This is the! One! I was waiting for. Love the series per se, but some volumes just bear absolute highlights and Kojiro Shinomiya will always be one of mine. Him eating Megumis dish is all the feels to me! Can’t wait for more to come!

I like Food Wars manga and this is very good at my taste. This is long series so it takes long time for me to read this book but it worth reading. It has many unique characters and protagonist “Souma” never lose in food wars. I recommend you to read at least until vol3. If you read, you can understand the story well and want to read more!

Volume 4 consists of chapters 22-30.

zHAHAHHAA. That magical cabbage moment. Nooo.
It's interesting to finally have Tadakoro become the lead chef while he becomes the sous chef. I think that the most of us were starting to wonder if she was always going to be a follow to him and now is her moment to shine. Of course, he's still as awesome as ever and even the teachers know that as he continues to support her and guess her next moves while keeping up with his own station. That would be pretty cool to see in real life.

COME ON, 'Hell's Kitchen'!! HAHAHA. I'm so behind on that show.

I totally thought that that one teacher with the short hair was a dude but then I saw "that scene" and a skirt. Yeah. Nevermind. Shinomiya is one of my favorite characters. He's so good looking. That megane.

Man. I want to try the dishes that they have in this series but I'm too lazy to make anything. Oh, well. It's probably going to be something along the lines of me not wanting to eat it because I'm pretty picky. My palatte isn't that great, either. HAHAHA. I dont like a lot of expensive foods that we have here.

Whelp. She lost. GAHH. Well, yeah, of course. Not everything goes the way that everyone plans it but there's a twist! There's so many details and chapters in this series and packed into one volume. Unlike 'One Punch Man'. HAHAHA. Those chapters I can read really, REALLY quickly.

I would definitely not survive a challenge type of school. HAHAHA. I mean, I think that I can stay awake but I'd be like a zombie. I wouldn't be able to think very well but I can definitely pretend that I'm still conident. Polar Star Dorm is pretty good. I'm glad.

We get to meet some new antagonists, too. OOOOOH. HAHA. These names. There's so many puns.

Uh oh. It looks like there's something wrong with Souma's food. He hasn't even given out 10/200 servings yet.

AND THEN IT PAUSES. So we'll get to figure out just what went wrong in the next volume. MAn. HAHAHA.

I've been trying to figure out which episode of the anime that I'm on but I can't seem to figure it out. I looked up the one that I've currently been set on and it seems like I'm way behind but my sister's shows that we're on episode sixteen. of course, I'm not sure if we're both still watching the anime together so it could also be wrong. Uhhh... I think that it's correct for now but I'll have to check it within the next episode.

It's just pure joy to read this series. The lead character is competitive, but remains a caring and positive person despite his focus. I like how the series creators make even their villains human and relatable despite their cruel and evil ways.

Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma!, Vol. 4 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (22–30) of the on-going manga series.

Gin Dōjima arranges for the unofficial match between Sōma Yukihira and Kojirō Shinomiya on the condition that Megumi Tadokoro be the head chef and that Sōma can only serve the assistant. Using the leftover ingredients from the previous assignments of the day, Shinomiya makes a chou farci (cabbage roll), while Megumi makes a rainbow terrine made of preserved vegetables. Although the judges initially favor Shinomiya's dish, Dōjima pitches an extra vote for Megumi's dish, telling Shinomiya that his cooking has become stagnant. Shinomiya tries Megumi's dish and is moved by memories of his mother, so the match is declared a draw, and Megumi is reinstated.

The next major assignment is to prepare 200 servings of an egg dish to be accepted at a breakfast buffet where the judges are the resorts' ingredient suppliers, the chefs and service staff, and their families. While Takumi Aldīni, Erina Nakiri and Megumi complete serving their dishes, Sōma has yet to start.

This tankōbon is written by Yūto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. It concludes the shokugeki that Sōma Yukihira instigated against Kojirō Shinomiya on behalf of his best friend Megumi Tadokoro, who was kicked-out of Tōtsuki Saryo Culinary Institute. While the outcome of the shokugeki was a foregone conclusion, it was nicely done nevertheless. The tankōbon ends with another challenge – one that Sōma has started yet.

All in all, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Vol. 4 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

Kulinarne Lisioły tom 4.
.
Pojedynek! Stawka pojedynku? Pozostanie w grze lub wyrzucenie ze szkoły. Sędziuje Jego Wielka Lisiołkowatość. Czas start! Witamy w czwartym tomie mangi „Kulinarne Pojedynki”.
.
Warzywny czarodziej machnął różdżką i oto mamy Chou Farci. Prócz emocji związanych z pojedynkiem, znajdziecie wewnątrz mangi też przepisy do wykorzystania we własnej kuchni.
.
Ten tom ewidentnie należy do... jajka!

The main character keeps digging himself into deeper and deeper holes, always for a good cause. In this case, it's to defend the honor and skill of one of the other teen cooking students, who was being picked on by a genuinely unfair instructor. This challenge had a different result from the earlier ones, and it felt more realistic, which I enjoyed quite a bit.
The overnight cooking challenge was part that I had seen in the anime, and it actually works better in the manga format, but that may be because I had missed some earlier episodes of the anime, so some of the character personality shortcuts might not have made sense to me at the time.
The idea of having to create an egg dish suitable for a high-end resort's breakfast buffet, though...that really is an interesting challenge. I loved some of the solutions being presented.

¡Me encantó!

Okay, gonna put this out there, I started reading this series around Jan 4th after seeing the anime season 1 and thought I'd get into it, sped through it and got the entire series read before last the end of last night.

I really dislike that this series ended the way it did, the plot, the comedy, the characters. All of then are decently presented and the ar tis sublime on the signature dishes and the side scenes.

And I was hoping that I'd get a great story, there was SO much build up of things, from things with Soma and his dad to the others. But that ending man, damn that ending ruined it for me.

So we start seeing more interaction with Soma and Erina - urk.

And more character introduction that doesn't get resolved, doesn't get a pay off and is useless to the overall plot, I should've seen where this was going to begin with....
