In the City of London, Josh works tirelessly to provide financial security for his younger sister, following the tragic deaths of his parents. He longs for a connection with his birth father who doesn’t want Josh to wreck his perfect life. Mature beyond his years, Josh craves the love and stability of an older man to anchor him.
Daniel, a wildly successful lawyer, works hard and plays even harder. His heart is closed to love after the betrayal of his ex-husband, until he meets Josh, twenty years his junior, and the executive assistant of one of his clients. Their chemistry ignites during a passionate weekend, initially driven by lust, awakening feelings Daniel never thought he’d experience again.
But fate has a cruel twist in store: Daniel’s best friend is also Josh’s birth father, making their love utterly forbidden. With a tempting offer on the table from his father to walk away, will Josh choose financial security or take a chance on love? And can Daniel convince Josh that the only choice he needs to make is to follow his heart?
Really enjoyed this! A well built story under 200 pages. Insta-love but really loved how the relationship evolved. One very young still finding his place in the world and a man who’s lived a life already but a very unfulfilling one. They were a perfect opposite attract.
This was SO FREAKING GOOD and insanely HOT! I absolutely enjoyed this M/M ROMANCE that follows a worker of financial security and a sexy lawyer who can’t resist each other! Loved Josh and Daniel’s love story and the spice was perfect! Would definitely recommend if you want a quick read! Can’t wait to read the second book soon!
Reviewed for Love Bytes – 4 hearts. Josh preferred older men, and Daniel preferred younger men. So what could get in the way other than a best friend, a father, ego, a job, and money? Is it easily fixed? Forbidden Lust is a tale where it is difficult to say too much without giving the game away. The blurb pretty much says it all, and to coin that British phrase, it does what it says on the tin. It is the equivalent of a one-episode soap. The story is a hot, between-the-sheets, entertaining read, without too much drama or drawn-out problems. The story is told in the third person from the viewpoints of Josh and Daniel. Worldbuilding predominantly revolves around the office and sex. Although there’s the odd date, which helps solidify the growing connection between Josh and Daniel. The author writes a good sex scene emphasizing the use of Daniels… and I quote… ‘giant cock’ that may inspire the odd cold shower. Both protagonists are likeable. Josh is dedicated to his sister's well-being and her future with no uni debt. He’s a young man who doesn’t like to be given too many choices, is a superb organizer and an indispensable assistant. But while Josh looks after his sister, who looks after him? Daniel is a self-made lawyer who needs to care for someone. Josh fills that role in his life. He is an alpha male who enjoys dominating without being an arse about it, and doesn’t stray into the realm of BDSM. I liked that he listened to Josh and was dedicated to him being happy. The story is about a person who needs to be cared for and someone who likes taking care, with a hefty dose of sexual compatibility and enough scenes out of the bedroom to let them come up for air and provide background context. Compared to others of a similar length and genre, it’s a sweet little tale that’s not overly involved or hard on the emotions. This book was provided free in exchange for a fair and honest review for Love Bytes.
Admittedly, I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book as I read the first chapter. I was concerned that Neo was a main character (he was an a hole, and NOT an MC). When Daniel was introduced, I was relieved! Anyway, Josh meets Daniel at work and Daniel asks him out. They hit it off instantly. During an intimate weekend, they discover Daniel’s best friend of 20 years is the sperm donor who wants nothing to do with Josh.
Turns out, Gavin (Josh’s bio dad) being a jerk to Josh is in contrast with the man Daniel has known for half his life. Josh tells Daniel they need to end things because he won’t ruin Daniel & Gavin’s friendship. Daniel gives josh time to ‘cool off’ and convinces him to give Daniel a chance.
What an incredibly well-written story! I was captivated by the journey of Josh and Daniel right from the very first page. The chemistry between them is amazing and is portrayed beautifully throughout the story. You can always count on Oliver Takely to deliver great dialogue and strong storytelling. Josh and Daniel faced a lot of challenges, but they worked through them together. Plus, Josh's boss is fantastic! Overall, this is such an inspiring story. I totally recommend this author and all of his books.
I love Josh from the original series so I was so excited to pick this one up and watch his get a happy ending. I did not realize how many twists this would take to get there. I honestly love his sister and my heart breaks for what they had to go through. I loved how Daniel fell for him immediately and just wanted to make him happy. This was such a sweet story. I loved these two guys and the whirlwind romance they experienced.
This is Josh's "prequel" story. Josh is working as an assistant when he meets an attorney, Daniel with a huge dick, who whisks him off to his place and gets him addicted to it. Problem is, Daniel has a best friend, Gavin, who is Josh's father (he's on Josh's phone as "sperm donor). Josh meets Gavin and Gavin wants NOTHING to do with him, but Daniel wheedles him into at least being civil, and this is where the book ends.
A great start to a new series which intermingals with the Soho Knights series. This is a very raunchy story about Daniel and Josh's relationship with a few ups and downs along the way. I highly recommend this book and author.
I enjoyed reading this age-gap story. One of the things I don’t like about age-gap stories is when the age-gap is beat to death with things like “oh we shouldn’t do this”; this book had none of that and I really appreciated that.
Forbidden Lust is the first book I’ve read by Oliver Takely and I thought it was pretty well done. It’s always interesting to me to read a book written by a male author as I sometimes think the cadence of the writing is a bit different from female writers. I don’t think this is bad or good; it’s just an observation. While Forbidden Lust is heavy on the smexy time I thought the balance between the lust and the story was very good.
Daniel wanted to take care of Josh almost from the moment he spotted him. While Josh could certainly use some being taken care of, he’s very independent and wants to make his own way. Even when he’s surrounded by wealthy men it’s not their money he wants and he certainly doesn’t want Daniel for his money. In fact the money at times is a point of contention because Josh won’t let Daniel help him out financially.
All-in-all this was a very enjoyable story and I’m happy I was able to finally read a book by this author.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me at my request; my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
I enjoyed the Soho Knights series and was pleased Oliver seems to be staying in that world for his other series. There is crossover in all the books he's written so far, including the next one in this series, but you can read them without prior knowledge. Daniel and Josh both appeared in Convenient Rivals, Oscar's book. I liked both Daniel and Josh as characters and their story was sweet. Daniel is rich, Josh is extremely cash-strapped but has integrity and is definitely not attracted to Daniel for his money. Josh is such a good person and Daniel falls for him completely. Shy Josh finds his confidence in the bedroom and Daniel loves the transformation, but continues to bolster Josh when he struggles with his confidence elsewhere. I loved Josh and Oscar's dynamic. Oscar was such a good boss, who valued Josh as his P.A. and they worked so well together. What I didn't like was Gavin, Josh's absentee and absolute arsehole father and coincindentally Daniel's best friend. Gavin was such an absolute stain of a human being and he got off far too lightly, in my humble opinion. It really pissed me off and his 'Oh woe is me, I was young and broke, it's not my fault' attitude didn't wash.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is the first I've read of Mr Takely and I do think I might read some more. I liked this, a lot.
Written from both Josh (not Joshua!) and Daniel's point of view, it tells of falling in love with quite possibly the most forbidden person: the son of your best friend. Cos that's basically what happens. Josh meets Daniel, they have amazing chemistry. Then Josh finds out Daniel is best friends with his sperm donor, the man who wants nothing to do with Josh.
There was not too much emphasis on the age gap, 20 years. I liked that. Too often it is the whole focus of a book, but not here. I liked that Daniel falls hard and fast, regardless who Josh is.
I hated Josh's sperm donor, and what he does here. He does redeem himself, but only after being put in his place by Daniel and by his wife. Who was wonderful to Josh once she knows who he is!
Josh, burdened with responsibility after his parents' deaths, works relentlessly to secure a stable future for his younger sister. He yearns for connection with his birth father, who refuses to let Josh disrupt his perfect life. Mature beyond his years, Josh seeks the love and security of an older man. Daniel, a high-powered lawyer, has closed himself off from love after a painful betrayal. His life is defined by work and fleeting pleasure—until he meets Josh, his client's executive assistant. Their attraction sparks over a passionate weekend, initially rooted in desire but soon stirring emotions Daniel thought were long buried.
Forbidden Lust is my first book by this author. I really like the writing, how he develops the characters, both main and secondary. It is a short book, but intense.
Josh lives in London, after the death of his parents and with no relationship with his biological father, he takes care of his sister. After a date with a very unpleasant man, he meets Daniel, a mature man, through his boss. The attraction is instantaneous.
Daniel, who after a broken marriage due to infidelities, is not looking for anything lasting until he meets Josh.
I will continue to read this author's work, which had escaped my radar, but has caught my attention in a very positive way.
I haven't read any of the prior series so I read it as a standalone and really enjoyed it as such. Josh is a hard worker doing his absolute best to provide for his sister. Daniel is a richer older man very used to playing the field but Josh makes him reconsider. An enjoyable romance, and it was good to see things like the relationship with Gavin resolve themselves to an extent. The side characters like Oscar are also great.
Forbidden Lust is the first book in the Sinful Knights series, it is set in the same world as Soho Knights but you don't have to read that to enjoy this. This is an age gap, sweet, short read about Daniel and Josh. I really enjoyed this story and can't wait for more from the series.
This 'broken family' 'age gap' story is an absolutely gorgeous tale with so much passion, love, hate, jealousy and let's not forget hot steamy, intense sex! The story line is rather angsty at times but you just can't stop, it pulls you in, such a wonderful read.
