Sin & Steel #1

Little Bunny

Rate this book
[Siren The Lynn Hagen ManLove Erotic Romance, Contemporary, Alternative, Paranormal, Werewolves, Shape-shifters, Suspense, MM, HEA] Elijah has no intention of parting with his cozy granny blanket and remote. He’s perfectly content wallowing in misery on his couch after a breakup. Unfortunately, his pesky best friend refuses to leave him alone, convincing Elijah to join him for a night out at Sin & Steel, a well-known biker bar. Clearly, his Percy has gone off the deep end. After a night of booze and a game of badly-played pool, Elijah needs to find a way to escape when Matias kidnaps him. Matias, the alpha of the Salvador pack, grins as two men, resembling prey, stroll into his bar. Two humans who are oblivious to the fact they’ve just walked into a wolf den. While Matias's main goal for the night is to lure Elijah into his bed, his wolf has a different agenda—claiming Elijah as his mate. Now he has to keep the human safe while dealing with an escalating hyena threat. Lynn Hagen is a Siren-exclusive author.

could use some cleaner editing and some plot items left dangling & little rushed (novella so not unusual) in story but found the wolves to be interesting characters.

So Many Errors!

I think this story is probably cute and I most likely would’ve really enjoyed it if I could’ve actually stayed in the story for more than a page at a time. I literally mean only a page at a time because I don’t think there’s anywhere in this entire book with more than two consecutive pages without an error. I mean if you’ve got one of the MC’s names spelled two different ways on the same page barely two sentences between them Matias/Mathias then you’ve got some real editing problems on your hands.
Normally I wouldn’t bring this up because I usually only read KU books so I’m just borrowing them not owning them but this author is not part of the KU library so I had to purchase this book to be able to enjoy it. Sadly it was not enjoyable because my brain was constantly tripping over every possible type of error known to the editing world. For an online only version of a book that’s only 120 pages paying over five dollars already seemed steep but the blurb sounded promising. But with a book this poorly edited (non existent editing) the five bucks seems completely outlandish.
So now I’m feeling slightly taken advantage of and very disappointed. Save that five spot folks and use it towards your next fancy coffee or bakery treat. Trust me you’ll get way more enjoyment from it.

Sooooo.... This was my first book from Lynn Hagen and this my honest review after reading this work...

First of all I want to say that the idea isn't wrong but on this short (novella) format is happening many things at once without real tension or build up...
I'm in my 30s and I couldn't get rid of the feeling that I'm reading some kind of wattpad early teens fantasy... Like it wasn't wrong but so many things are happening in the short time and without proper build up... Or final closure... It felt like you're in your 17 and that's how do you imagine your relationship with your crush will be... Some sass, some flirt, some "fight" some action and than boom you're mated and in love
What happened with Trent? What about that situation when he was threatening Elijah at the start?
What happened to the tension and relationship building?
They went from "possible hookup" to mates real quick.
Why are we have these "jumps" from romance line to story line... Like why it is not more together?
As I mentioned the idea is not bad but the rhythm of the book is so not for me... Buuuuut since my brain will bug me that I didn't read more than one book of series to judge it is possible that I will read another books (since I brought the whole series)...
Also I must mention that the book is only 150 pages long but I must took some break between and not once come back to some pages to get it together and even though I was left confused...

So total 3/5 because the idea is good, the "romance" coukd have potential if author thought more about it... The same as the drama scenes...
The smut was ok... Sometimes questionable but ok... And I loved most of the translation of Spanish sentences or words... Glad to know that some authors knows that not everyone knows Spanish and for me as for morr eastern European is English the second (another) language and I don't have in capacity to look for the words... So yeah good story or world idea...

Just not so much things on such short time would be better?

Surprisingly fine. A very straightforward story just long enough to resolve the main romance plot, with the understanding you should now be curious about the overarching plot stretched over the many books following this one. Not a bad strategy, you get better acquainted with each couple, that then becomes a side character while still keping the efficiency of a novella (the second book is even shorter).

Nothing too special, no big red flags, the alpha is on the dominant side but he is sensible and caring enough I didn't mind too much. The "drag your best friend to a club when all he wants is stay at home" trope is a bit of a pet peeve but there was not awkward socialising and keg stands, just a shifter bar.

Spanish... Ah, Spanish, my old nemesis, I was very confused why the love interest insisted on saying naughty things to the MC so often when he couldn't understand them BUT... I understood most sentences. Like, I usually got the gist of what he was saying so I am just going to pat myself on the back and consider it a good thing.

One of the better stories. Yes, this whole naïve bunny and big bad dominant wolf got on my nerves, as well as using a language that the other person doesn't speak to "tease" him - I can't stand it 🤔😒 -, but I liked that we had a bit more plot.
But what happened to the ex, didn't he want to "play games"? Could it be that a narrative thread was teased here, but then forgotten? 🤔😂🤗

Great start to a new series 💚

Loved this. I’ll be watching for the next book. Hopefully it’ll be Santiago and Percy but Diablo needs somebody too.

I would give 5* but I don't like that the issue with Trent wasn't solved
