For way too long, Jake Bishop has been Luna Moon's ultimate fantasy, a bad boy brawler with a wicked reputation. Lucky for Luna, she's finally wised up to the truth. Jake's too wild, too reckless, and too far out of her league – especially now that he's rich, famous, and too hot for any one girl to hold.
A digital celebrity and trouble-maker incarnate, Jake goes through girls the way some guys go through bottles of booze. Luna, a college grad whose fortunes are flaming out fast, has two jobs, one psychotic ex-boyfriend, and zero interest in repeating past mistakes. From now on, she's determined to play it safe. No more bad boys. No more drama. And no more crushing on the likes of Jake Bishop.
There's only one problem, Jake. One morning, he shows at Luna's place, uninvited, to turn her life upside down. But why? To help her? To hinder her? Or to settle a score long overdue? No matter the reason, Jake Bishop is in for a big surprise, because this brat from his past is all grown up – and capable of bringing the baddest of bad boys to his knees.
A full-length novel, this new adult contemporary romance is the first book in the two-book Jaked series. It features mature content, sexual situations, and adult language. It's not advised for under-age readers.
This author knows how to hooked and grip you throughout the story! The beginning was unique. I was like "OMG... THIS IS AMAZING!"
At 50% I was questioning myself...
The hero is ALPHA, POSSESSIVE and a HOE BAG which I LOVED! Heroine was okay.. kinda-sorta likeable. But...
As I mentioned, the author is gifted- she could bring you to la-la land and tell you there is something special in that land and you would believe it!
The mystery and suspense was oozing in this book. I couldn't put it down. I got so many questions, Who is chasing after her? Why all of a sudden Jaked showed up and wants to protect her? And the big question is WHERE IS THE STORY GOING?
There were so many unnecessary twist and turn that I just wanted to get to the point! At 50% I was already getting frustrated. The ending left me speechless. It ended in a cliffy and tbh did not resolve or even enlighten me what-so-ever!
Am I the only one who felt like this? Yeah? Ok.
I'm slapping this a 4 stars because despite my over dramatic complaints up there, it kept me interested and finished the book in one day!
I honestly don't know how I feel about this book. Nothing original. Rich guy loves poor girl, buys her lots of clothes, is a jerk, and constantly says he doesn't deserve her. Authors in the New Adult genre need to stop writing the same story with different names.
Because I'm a fan of books like Fear Me it's totally normal for me to enjoy this book which I really did. Yes, it had it's fair share of flaws, (Luna personally wasn't as strong-willed as I would've preferred and Jake pissed me off with the way he hardly ever gave her a straight answer but that was kinda part of his charm I guess) but that is completely normal and it's stuff that I've encountered with every book that I've read. I'm not going to lie - this book did confuse me and I didn't completely understand Jake's story but further towards the end a lot more was explained an I've no doubt the second book will answer my remaining questions. This book does end on a serious cliffhanger for those of you who are considering reading it but can't handle that kinda thing. Part 2 is out in less than a week though so you (and I) haven't really got much longer to wait thank God! :D
All in all an awesome book and I do recommend for fans of dark reads. Can't wait for book 2!
Only thing I’ll say about this book is I wished I had never wasted my time on it. Clearly there must be something wrong with me, because I not only listened to this book, but also the following two in this series. I’m ashamed 😔
Annoying & frustrating as all hell!!! I don't think I've read another book where a character actually has the sense to ask the right questions, and does so on damn repeat, but never gets a damn straight answer that makes a lick of sense, and then is ditzy enough to just be like 'oh, well okay, whatever he's so hot~' geezfreakingus!
I don't think I've ever read another book with such indecisive, emotional cowards. She has no backbone and he thinks his backbone is equal parts bastard and indestructible to the point of constant self-sabotage.
You've seen tug-a-wars where one side has a bunch of scrawny kids and the other side looks like they just benched a semi, but the stacked side f's with the scrawny side just enough to give them some delusional hope of actually winning? Well, that's this book. The male MC is like that stacked side... He jerks her around emotionally, always giving her just enough slack to think she might win his affections but promptly jerks her ass in the mud and then stands her up to do it all again. The roommate... Bam hits the mud. The "personal shopper" .. Bam hits the mud. I love you but you must leave... Bam in the mud.
The whole story constantly feels concocted. Why drag her into your life, flirt with her, tease her, accept her, tell her he doesn't want to hurt her, and then turn around and tell her to leave. Nah, f'ing her and then telling her you love her but she has to leave ain't hurting her?!? Wth?
The uber rich element also just felt too concocted. I mean internet sensations are a dime a dozen, and I certainly don't know of any of them that's rolling with their own buildings, squad of personal assistants, and fleet of sports cars.
I'll admit that Jake is a funny SOB when he gets in "fight" mode, and that initial car scene was lol funny. Yet, again, though, there just wasn't a believability factor. After a few of these, his targets would know the gig and not play into his game.
So, the story, the romance, and the characters are a train wreck!
But by damn if I wasn't one of those stupid ass bystanders watching with mouth agape and unable to look away. Lawd, I question my own sanity, but f'it I don't have to get book two to see wtf happens. Why? Hell if I could tell you!?!?
Wow! What a ride!!! A novel that gives you twists, turns, dark moments, funny moments, lustful feelings, nail biting intrigue, steam and a drop dead dark handsome alpha hero. On top of all this a cliffhanger that makes you want to hunt down the author and short sheet her bed.
Sabrina Stark is a new to me author and I think I have fallen in love. Now I must mention I did have book 2 ready to go so the cliffy didn't make me as crazy as it did other readers. I also like to be kept guessing so I enjoyed having to wait for some of my questions to be answered until book 2, it gave me a reason to run out and one click it right away.
Sabrina Stark is a skilled writer who uses a lot of writing techniques to get her message across. In a story line that has some severely dark elements it is laced with humor that had me putting the pillow over my mouth so I wouldn't wake the hubby. Luna was so flaky at times she just made me laugh. However, the way the intrigue is as much a character in the story as the relationship between Jake and Luna was ingenious, the whole of this novel we are asking ourselves questions and just waiting for the answers. SS taunted us with bit and pieces but never gave us enough to actually figure out what exactly was going on. Jaked was more about the building of the relationship between Jake and Luna and taking us back to when they originally met as children. I'm sure book 2 will be more about solving mysteries and answering questions.
I admit it has been a while since I was completely enraptured by a new to me author. Sabrina had me in the palm of her hand throughout the entire book. I can't wait for the next novel...in fact I will dive into it immediately. I have to give this novel a bright 4.25 star rating and a recommendation. If you are looking for something a bit on the different side and yet using familiar elements with a side of grit this is definitely the book for you. Remember if you don't want to get caught by the cliffy have book 2 cued up and ready to go. Now get those fingers one clicking and tell Jake that t'irla sent you!!!
Not too bad of a story line, but I found myself getting frustrated with the back and forth unanswered questions! There were parts that had me laughing out loud, but we are left with a to be continued ending.
I wanted to like it more, but the female lead character is kind of annoying. She keeps asking questions all the time, knowing the guy won't ever giver her a straight answer.
I liked this book. I liked Jake, even though the opening scene with Luna's roommate made me sick, and almost DNF'd right there. I am glad I kept reading. Jake had a darkness about him that I loved, and a way of conveying emotions with out having to speak. I liked Luna. This book tried to be funny. That is what I liked LEAST. It had cute moments but the comedy was forced and after a few chapters was just not funny. Also, some of the characters were just over the top. Not believable because NO ONE in real life would act like that. I pushed the things I did not like about this book out of my mind and focused on Jake and Luna. Once I was able to do that this book was good. I wish that "Jaked" would have focused on Jake and Luna, not some lurking mystery that was neither revealed nor cared about.
One star for the cover This book has no character development, no plot, not even a real dialog between the main characters. Luna is a pathetic weak girl.
I admit I skipped some pages here and there but really, which was the plot of this book? Why are the two protagonists together? Why can't anyone in the book have a sensible conversation? All this is rhetoric questions for me as I don't really care.
It seems rather pointless to read books in genres one doesn't like, isn't it? I can't remember why I added this to my TBR but there was still hope it might be the story to win me over. Oh well, better leave it for the real fans.
I'm not gonna lie I REALLY liked JAKED! It's been awhile since I've had so much fun reading a book and believe me I had to keep myself from laughing out loud late at night from the things Luna and Jake get into.
Luna is awesome. She's independent, smart and funny. She's my kinda girl! Jake? He's hard not to love. He's not perfect but he's still a good guy with good intentions. Jake reminds me of my best guy friends which makes him so relate-able to me and maybe that's me being bias but I don't care. I love Jake!
This was an okay read and since the book only covered the span of 2 maybe 3 days there really wasn't a lot of substance. Luna is mildly annoying and Jake is a self proclaimed ASSHOLE; with good reason. The basic plot seems interesting but nothing really happens. Besides the exchanges that involved Bianca the book was just BLAH!!!
Overall I liked the book. The reason I didn't give it more stars is because it was getting frustrating not knowing the answer to the same questions she was asking. Jake is a straight shooter and for me he should stay that way and tell her the truth without her having to badger him into answering.
I am so confused. I still don't know the plot of the story? Jake trying to save Luna? What the hell is Jake's job? How does me make so much money? How is he an underground criminal but also a YouTube star? Who is after Luna?
The main character is quite literally TSTL. And the dialogue is nothing but questions that never get answered. And most of the time it was her going "what?" "huh?" And she was a huge prude, considering she wasn't willing to change her shirt in the car (even after realizing she could put on the new shirt and then take off the old shirt with no problem due to the size of the new shirt).
MAYBE I would have liked the book more if I had been reading it instead of listening to it on audiobook. But I find that doubtful.
The character of Bianca? Seriously, that was so ridiculous. Was she Jake's employee? No. But she worked for him. She relied on him as her client. So her behaviour throughout was beyond ridiculous. The dress thing was absolutely ridiculous. And I've just said ridiculous 3 times in a row, but seriously!
The writing was incredibly Freshmen (not even Sophomoric, below that!).
1 star for the cover, which was nice.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I care enough to find out the whodunit, since this book was far too long for absolutely nothing happening other than shopping, cat fights, and sex. (mostly just shopping) So I honestly don't know if I will read the second one or not. I certainly won't be listening to it on audiobook if I do, because I don't know if I can stand to be shackled to another 8 hours of drivel (whereas if I read it myself, I'd proably be done it in 2 bus rides to and from work.)
Lets see this would be 3.5 Stars but I am confused to.. Ok so Luna stands up for herself a lot but she lets Jake walk all over her. But really he takes over everything but if she can stand up for herself why doesn't she push it... I kind of think she is a pushover and not in a good way. She lets him take over. I get it she liked him when she was young he was her hero and all that so she pretty much threw her self at him... Really the very next night after he was screwing her roommate all night long... and this was ok with her ...Really? Condoms anyone? (this always bugs me when its bare back without even talking about it.. esp when you know he was a dog before and not even a word about he would protect her from himself or herself.)
Just kind of left be scratching my head. I mean its a good book but I feel like there are a lot of holes in the story. Not saying I won't read the next part but yeah still. Enjoy Everyone!
I Didn't like either of the leads, and the story had no depth. Just stupid. Luna had the potential to be a good heroine, but she was too immature. Call me crazy but I have to wonder how someone is willing to have sex with someone who upended her life and didn't care where he stuck his junk. The contrived reasons were stupid, and under developed. So over the bad boy, man whore - stupid. And yeah millions of youtube subscribers won't get you the lifestyle she is portraying him with, even more stupid. Dude needs more to generate that kind of income to support it. He sucked as a hero, and really? Can we drop the captain save-a-ho plot. It's not entertaining... and the back and forth with her and his event planner? It was not funny and the females are stupid.
This book is promising. It kept me entertained till the end and now I'm not happy with the fact that I have to wait a couple of months for the next book to come out. The story itself is very intense and I like bossy guys. And Jake sure as hell is bossy and alfa all the way. He has that attitude that melts hearts and make you daydream about your own dominant man. I love it. Can't wait to get the second book.
Fast paced quick read with humour one of two parts
The story is still unfolding as it got to the end leaving a cliffhanger type finish but I would read the second part to see where Jake and Luna end up.
Luna is a women with backbone humour and character who had a childhood crush on Jake
jake turns up out of the blue after years apart and says he's there to save her. The story is still needs unfolding as it reaches this parts conclusion.
I'm so into this series, hanging on to the edge of my seat here, dying to see what happens next I like that Jake doesn't try to hide he's not a good person in some ways, that he's cold and heartless to all the other women that's been in his life but that he never let go of Luna even after all those years and she's always had her crush and fantasy land where Jake is concerned This is a great book
I feel like this book was half of the story, so it hard to give it a review since there is so much left of the story to be revealed. Off to the next book asap!
Let me first start off by saying, I only started reading this book because the sample drew me in. The reviews are across the board, and I truly didn’t know the story was in 3-parts. If I had known/realized the story was stretched through 3-books, I can guarantee I would not have read it. About the story, The moving pieces of the story are confusing and don’t connect enough to make you feel like a link is complete before another piece is started. There is a lot of back in forth in emotions that don’t quite line up or justify either. The only thing I am crystal clear on at this point is that Luna had a strong crush on Jake in her teenage years, and Jake was like a dark night to her. Jakes inability to have personal relationships and his complete dominance related to power turns you off to his character; especially since he has a polar opposite side when it comes to Luna. Luna, I just want to jerk a knot in her hair! If I read one more time that she isn’t a child, now that she’s 23, I thought I would scream! There is really no draw to make me read the next two books and don’t know that I’ll be making that investment.
2.5 stars Characters who were too "unreal" to be believed and they asked WAY TOO MANY QUESTIONS to each other and in their inner dialogue.
An 8 hour audio book and we are only part way into a story. A story which is not capturing my interest or attention. Why are these authors writing these serial novels when a good 300 page novel would tell the story?
And Ann or Luna . Who ever she is....is clueless. He tells her she needs to leave when the danger is over....that he is no good for her....she is hurt and then jumps into bed with him????????
And don't get me going on how he is keeping her awake at night banging the bed against the wall while her roommate, the stripper Maggie, as a way to gain enterence into her home in order to get her out of the house and to his home to protect her.
Here is a question for you Luna...... ME: "Why did he not just knock on your door and talk to you?" YOU: "What?" ME: (explains another way). YOU: "Do I know how to answer that?" (Internal monalog). ME: "Oh. Forget it, I no longer care."
