More than 250 photos have been drawn over, revealing the muscles.
This book will be used again as reference when I practice for sure.
Would recommend this to intermediate artists who are studying anatomy, as this book does not go into detail of functions and other uses of the muscles and bones, which are all very important. Rather, it describes the shape and form of the muscles, what is visible what is not, some flex and contraction state of the muscles and stuffs. Very useful!
A gold mine , however as with any medical heavy books (anatomy in this case) a more slow/spread and multiple reads are required to fully grasp all the concept . Can be used as the title suggest a reference for sculptors, drawers, animators and anyone interested in anatomy . As on my case I was more interested in the anatomy/biomechanics of the muscle movements and it greatly delivered .
If you are a beginner in the topic like me, I highly recommend this one. There are many great anatomy books out there but unfortunately they are hard to follow unless you have some basic understanding of the structure and the names. This book gives you all that in the simplest manner. All the muscles are color coded so that you won't miss a thing. A reference book!
This is a great book for all artists interested in gaining a clear understanding of anatomy. It provides helpful information on the mechanics of the human body.
If you are an aspiring sculptor do not even touch this book. It works backwards from 3d scans and pictures without even showcasing the methodology for actually sculpting anatomical shapes . The author doesnt even show a singe example of his own works because his methods do not work for actually creating any kind of sculpture. Avoid this book
I’m not a 3D artist, just your average procreate user and sketchbook artist. But holy BALLS this book helped me so much. It provides detailed depictions of muscles and helpful tips on shaping them, but NOT in a tiring way. It literally teaches you 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 to understand the essence of how a muscle looks and moves, without going into details at all, most of the time providing just pictures of a specific muscle in different movements. Awesome stuff. But the most amazing thing? The 3d models of the muscles were based on real life photos, and they were presented side by side. That was extremely helpful, I find it essential to breaking down each muscle and learning how it looks and works. I studied every single muscle, replicated the 3d models AND photos, and went from an artist who only drew people wearing oversized hoodies to an artist obsessed with anatomy studies; Tell me to draw a nude model, a leg, a chest from scratch, hell yeah I can do that. Thanks to this book.
Priceless book, I went across many books of anatomy from drawing field to scientific ones, a draughtsman could never teach well anatomy, for painters it is best to mire on sculpters, it becomes a definitive reference book. Draughtsmen are usually viciated on their defective illusions. The aprehension or correction of anatomy comes more easily when one starts practicing sculpting on Zbrush or merely playing with 3d scenes on blender etc.
This book shows all the major muscle groups, how the muscles hook onto the bones, and the major shapes and landmarks of the entire human body in a very visual and easy to understand format. If this is your first book on studying artistic human anatomy, regardless of your medium, you’ve made an excellent choice!
Today is day 1 of my Proko Anatomy course. We have this assignment where we have to trace muscles from a photo, so I need an Anatomy Atlas.
So i’m starting this book which Ive downloaed a whie ago… I just have something to note: why does the Summary/The table seem so inaccurate?? The pages are messed up…. There are quite a few typos too...
It is an amazing resource for any artist looking to learn anatomy, filled with so much info on how muscles work, the skeleton, and so many reference images!
