“I don’t think I’ll ever not be a small town girl,” she says. “I mean, look at me.”
I’ve been looking at her this entire time and I can’t not see her. From the small freckles across her nose to the perfect bow above her lips. “I am looking at you.”

Hannah
I thought I had my life all figured out—graduate school, a dream job, and finally stepping out from the shadow of my small-town upbringing. But running into Lucas Walker, my high school sweetheart and now the star player for the NY Rangers, in the middle of Las Vegas turned my carefully laid plans upside down. One impulsive moment, one ocean of emotions, and now...we’re married.

Lucas Hockey has been my life for the past five years—a fast-paced, all-consuming escape that helped me forget the girl who shattered my heart. Or so I thought. Seeing Hannah again, in the most unexpected place, brought every feeling I buried rushing back. One night, one decision, and suddenly, we’re navigating a life I’d only dreamed of having with her.

From small-town South Carolina to the bright lights of New York City, Hannah and Lucas navigate the highs and lows of an unexpected marriage. Amidst rekindled feelings, viral headlines, and family complications—they must face what they mean to each other, and if love and faith can guide them through this second chance. Their story is one of heart, healing, and holding on to the hope of forever.

*From Ice to Home is a clean, christian, hockey romance. It blends faith, small-town, and big heart moments into a story you wouldn't be able to put down. It's the first book in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone.

I really loved this story! The faith in this book is so well done. The way both characters constantly turn to God so they can love one another better and seek Him for all things (but don't worry, they're still plenty flawed and never come across as perfect). It's such a different take on the "Vegas marriage" trope, and I am here for it. I'm excited for the next book.

**Note: There is mild language throughout the book. 2-3 uses of the word d*mn and a few h*ll, but nothing more and not often.

Okay WOW this book came out of nowhere and I ended up loving it😭

The beginning was a touch slow for me and I’m SO GLAD I kept reading because it ended up being one of the most beautiful books I’ve read! I’ve never read a romance book that was completely faith filled. I’ve read some Christian books where really it’s not a big part of the story and if you took the character’s faith out of the plot, it wouldn’t change the story - this book though? Faith is INFUSED into the life of this story.

I’ve also never read a story that portrayed a Christ centered marriage in the way this author did and truly? It kinda blew my mind. Call me single and naive idc but I truly was so floored by how the author showed the growth, true struggle, sacrifice and joy in their marriage. It honestly was amazing to read a romance that in some ways feels similar to what you actually want in real life; it made a Christ-filled marriage seem more attainable in a way🥹

Also also, the amount of prayer in this book? Immaculate. It even shifted the way I view how often I talk to God and inspired me to reach out to Him with each and every little and big moment in my life🙏🏻

Finally? I LOVED the romance between Hannah and Lucas🥹 I’ve never seen such a Christ centered love in a book, and I was just in awe of it all❤️‍🩹

Overall? I stinkin loved this book and it surprised me (in a good way!) I can’t wait to read the second book next month!!!😍

From Home to Ice is this author’s debut Christian romance novel and I will be here for more!

She has taken the “high on emotion, rushed Vegas wedding” and written it through the lens of faith. In her words, her stories have characters who still make mistakes, but they don’t glorify sin - they wrestle with it, repent from it and seek God through the mess. And that’s exactly how this hockey romance was; I loved it! It was definitely different than any book I’ve read with this kind of trope and it was refreshing!

I have to say, as a Canadian, I also love the small rep for my country! Mentioning Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary as places where the MMC plays hockey. And of course, how you have to wear a tuque here when it’s cold 🙂

This was a new author to me and I am obsessed. I love her writing and storytelling. I quickly became entranced with Hannah and Lucas. Hannah is a planner and works hard to get where she thinks she wants to go. While out celebrating a new job with her friends a second chance meeting with her first love will change her life forever. Lucas is a Texas Ranger hockey player and is living out everything he dreamed, but missing the one part of his life who meant the world to him. God brings these two together for some chaos, swoon-worthy love, healing and spiritual growth. I loved the faith themed throughout this whole entire book. I also loved the side characters and the author does a good job at peaking your interest into their stories which is good because there was a sneak preview at the end that there will be a second book allowing us to learn more into these characters' lives. Everyone should check out this book if you want a clean, swoon, faith filled read.

As soon as I read the blurb and saw it involved a Vegas wedding and was a Christian romance, I was instantly intrigued. This story brings two people back together in such a unique way, and I loved watching them navigate their unexpected marriage while trying to honor God through it all.

It was emotional, deep, and sweet. While I did feel like the FMC was a little too hard on herself at times, I still completely understood where she was coming from.

I especially loved how they chose to fully commit to each other and eventually surrendered their marriage to God—so beautiful. And that ending? The best! I can’t wait for more in this series!

This story was so sweet. I was hooked from the start and wanted to see what choices they would make and how it would all turn out. I loved the portrayal of Christian marriage with each learning about themselves and each other through the consequences of their choices.

I loved the prayers. There were so many that I was like, 'I have definitely prayed that one!

This was such a refreshing and encouraging read.

This book is 100% Christian fiction. It is not pretending to be something it is not. The whole book is filled with faith filled prayer and discussions. It does not shy away from the gospel. If you pick up the book to read I have no doubt in my mind that it will encourage you in your walk and it is possible that you are convicted of not centering God in your relationship. If you are not in a relationship it will bless you and remind you that all things happen in His timing.

For me, a key highlight in this story occurs early on—in one brief but powerful acknowledgment, spiritual discernment regarding where we find ourselves is mentioned.

This small but significant moment also affects what happens next. How? Because it does not mean we have everything figured out, and walking with God does not mean a struggle free life. We can go from thinking we know the next step to everything changing in a moment. Sometimes we make choices that we ourselves don’t understand, and these characters don’t always get it right, either. Is it frustrating? Sure. But it’s also real and relatable.

That said, the story sits for a while in the days following the big event, which did affect the pace for me. I appreciate the intention to show the magnitude of their decision, but it doesn’t flow well in a story to go over something again and again, even though we may do it ourselves. Some parts are also more told than shown. However, the pace really picked up after the 50% mark.

Overall, the storytelling shows the sincere desire to honor God with our decisions, and there are many worthy-to-consider moments sprinkled throughout the book.

I’m looking forward to the rest of this series! 🩵🏒

Content:
-Strong faith themes
-Profanity: Mild (infrequent uses of d**m and h**l)
-Intimacy level: Kisses Only | Vague past references to wedding night | There’s one line in particular that has a double meaning—it could be understood either as physical or emotional. However, I would be surprised if the reference is intended to be physical.

*I received a complimentary eARC from the author. I read the eARC edition, although I did buy the ebook when it was offered for free on Amazon on August 16, 2025. All opinions expressed are my own.

I had a really hard time at the beginning of the book. It didn't seem believable. How do two people who haven't seen each other in five years and who are sober suddenly wind up married in Vegas? Especially one who plans her life so meticulously.

Then she leaves him. Again.

When he comes to fight for her (or at least talk to her she rejects him a third time. Especially with an ego of a hockey player, that would have to hurt. But when she comes back, it takes very little convincing for him to welcome her with open arms. I don't buy it.

Now, once they get all those kinks worked out, I did enjoy the book more. There were hard, powerful Christian messages they had to learn, like keeping God first, and grace. They had to struggle together as the media sought to tear them apart.

There are also a few cuss words, which really surprised me in a Christian book. So I wanted to mention that for those offended by them.

Overall, I think I enjoyed the book - definitely the last half.

The story of Lucas and Hannah was absolutely beautiful. A true example of what it looks like when two people who have known each other all their lives and grown up with God at the center fall in love. I cried in quite a few places and learned some solid life lessons as well.
I love second-chance romances and this was so well done. The depth of their faith , the very real representation of their imperfections was so relatable.
I never knew I could enjoy a hockey romance and yet here we are 😂 I’m literally holding myself back from reading the next book because I know I would be on the edge of my seat for the rest of the books. Ann J. David you are a phenomenal author, thank you for writing this.
Ps. I hope you’re working on all the other books ASAP because I finished this so quick 😂
God bless you!
