Kolejny tom z cyklu, a jednak powiew nowości.

Welcome to my review of 🌳The Gorgon’s Fury🌳 by Brandon Mull. Just like everything Brandon Mull writes, this was so good! I loved reading from Newel's point of view, and let's be honest, who doesn't need more Newel and Doren? I also got this signed by the author the day I bought it ❤️

Single third person, fantasy, first and only released book in series.

CHARACTERS

Newel~ Description: A funny, relaxed satyr who lives to avoid work and whose deepest wish is to own a smartphone. Doren’s cousin and best friend. Has slightly longer fur and horns than Doren does. My opinion: I love him. Reading from his point of view was amazing. He’s hilarious and it’s so fun to see inside his brain. I loved when he had to it was very insightful and fun to read. He’s a great main character. I also loved how he

Doren~ Description: A funny, relaxed satyr who lives to avoid work and whose deepest wish is to own a smartphone. Newel’s cousin and best friend. Has slightly shorter fur and horns than Newel does. My opinion: He seems like the slightly more responsible one, but honestly he’s still very irresponsible (which is the point of satyrs). Newel and Doren are very similar, so honestly I don’t have much to share about specifically Doren. He’s funny and amazing and awesome comic relief, just like his cousin.

Barrett and Hoff~ Description: Newel and Doren’s rival satyrs and only real competition in the Satyr Games. They’ve grown in the past year, giving them bigger horns and bulging muscles. And worst of all—they each have their own smartphones! My opinion: They’re so annoyinggg. Like just shut up guys🙄we came here for Newel and Doren. But I mean, they apologized and were humbled at the end, so, I guess they’re not too bad.

PLOT

Satyrs Newel and Doren are maturing into more responsible citizens after helping put an end to the dragon rebellion. But the thought of growing out of adolescence has the two goatmen in crisis mode. If that isn’t enough to worry about, a few unlucky inhabitants of Fablehaven have been found petrified, turned to stone, including fellow satyrs. Could this new threat be the workings of a dangerous gorgon?

Newel and Doren become intrigued after an informant divulges information about a legendary Listening Doll—a talisman with the power to reveal the antidote for any magical malady—hidden somewhere in the Florida swamplands. If the mystical doll can solve any problem, maybe she has the answer of how to turn back the clock, so they won’t have to grow up.

Perhaps a trip to Florida is just what Newel and Doren need to get their mojo in time to win the annual Satyr Games. Two new challengers, Barrett and Hoff, are talking smack about dethroning Newel and Doren as perennial champions. And the new opponents have a smartphone!

Finding the Listening Doll and saving Fablehaven is important, sure. But Newel and Doren are also desperate for a smartphone of their own. Let the adventure and the games begin!

I get so happy about anything related to the Fablehaven books! "The Gorgon's Fury," book one of the Newel and Doren series, was a great surprise.

I've loved Newel and Doren since the first Fablehaven book. They are funny satyrs living at Fablehaven a magical preserve. Their words and actions always make me laugh. These jokers added comic relief to the Fablehaven and Dragonwatch books. They've become more mature in this new book.

What's in store for readers? Newel and Doren go on an adventure to fix a problem at the preserve. Some Fablehaven folks have turned to stone. They seek a talisman, the Listening Doll, in Florida's swamps. Newel and Doren hunt for magic items. They also want smartphones and you have to read the book to see why they need them. Plus, they are competing in the Satyr Games and have some strong rivals to take the crown away from them.

Kids aged 8-12 will love this book but teens and adults will also enjoy it too. Brandon Mull has written another book that will excite a new generation of readers.

“The Tales of Newel and Doren: The Gorgon’s Fury” was incredibly exciting!!

What made this novel stand out from the Fablehaven series was that Newel and Doren were afraid of becoming “unsatyr-like” while completing their mission. This unique twist completely captured my attention and made me laugh endlessly. Why? Because the satyrs’ main motivation for completing the mission was their desire for smartphones.

Newel and Doren share such a strong bond that they feel like brothers, even though they are actually cousins.

So innocent, yet so proud, Newel and Doren take readers on an exhilarating journey to defeat the Guron, Grumella.

This may be a shorter than usual book for the Fablehaven series, but it has all the elements that I have come to expect from the author. It is truly a worthy addition to the Fablehaven family of books!

This was about what I expected from a little spinoff book. It's cute and fun to be back in the world of Fablehaven (which I really love) but isn't on par with his other books

Shorter and a little simpler than the other Fablehaven stories this new satyr-focused series was still a lot of fun. I recognized several places in the Florida leg of the adventure including one that sounded very similar to the smoothie shack, Robert is Here, near the Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead.

The Tales of Newel and Doren. The Gorgon’s Fury is a spin-off story to the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull. Brandon Mull is the reason I got into reading as a kid, so even though I’ve grown older, I still like to read his books.

The genre for this book is Fantasy, and I would say elementary/middle school aged Fantasy.

It has been years since I read both Fablehaven and Dragonwatch but I do believe this story takes place after the event of Dragonwatch. The book does take place on the magical preserve of Fablehaven as well as some other locations on earth and the magical realms.

Like the title says this story follows some of our favorite side characters. Our satyr friends Newel and Doren. It also introduces some other characters that we have seen in past books.

This book follows Newel and Doren as they are again competing in this year’s annual satyr games. They are facing up against some tough competition while trying to defend their title from previous years. While competing in these games a new threat has arisen on the preserve and is turning inhabitants into stone statues. Newel and Doren are tasked with a mission to help find a magical cure that can hopefully help them undo the statues and stop the threat that Fablehaven is facing.

I feel like this book is written very much like a checklist where each chapter leads right to the next thing on the checklist. With that you get each chapter accomplish what it needs to and then proceeds to the very next chapter.

I do think that having the chapter be almost like a checklist is really nice. Especially for younger kids who would want to read books. I feel like it makes the story easy to follow. Rather than having a book that jumps around a story so much and you can lose track of everything happening.

I do feel like in this book everything seemed easy. For this type of book that is probably the goal and so it’s not really a bad thing but it doesn’t create the same feeling as other books where they might loss and then have to come back and try again. Everything just seemed to fall into place perfectly. Again, with this being more of a younger aged fantasy it is probably exactly what you would want. If I was still in elementary or Jr. High, I would have absolutely loved to read this book.

Would I read another book by Brandon Mull? Absolutely I would. He is one of my auto buy authors and I will read whatever books he puts out.

3.75 stars for me!

I generally like YA books as they are full of imagination and adventure. this book has some of that, but the writing was clunky to the point of distraction. the audio book was narrated very well, and he did his best to hatchet his way through the dialog. this is best left to those not bothered by predictable plots and simple characters.

Maybe I’m getting too old and the books are getting too young. It was fun but juvenile. Still has its Brandon Mull existential crisis moment and discussion of reality.
A bit predictable but still had enough change and shock

Fun new series featuring characters from Fablehaven, mainly Doren and Newell- satyr cousins.

They are heavily involved in the annual Satyr Games, things like clobber ball, dryad tag, and a prank war. What about that won’t appeal to young readers? They are known to be somewhat irresponsible, frivolous, and all about fun and freeloading. Gadgets and living in the moment are their main focus. They have, however, worried that they are becoming soft- unsatyr like. Maybe all their comforts have changed them.

When some strange things start happening around Fablehaven they are the ones that can help. Will they be able to keep focused long enough to help save the preserve, or will their playfulness kick in and they fail in their quest?

They will encounter many species that keep things exciting; skunk apes, listening doll, swamp hags, and salamanders.

‘Desperation is a bottomless well.”

‘Stop comparing yourself to others and you will be happier. You will better enjoy what you have and feel more gratitude.”

I’m excited for this series to be shorter and easier for young readers. It is also less intense. It will still be enjoyed by fans of the series and Brandon’s books. I can’t wait to buy this for my school and for family members.

Thank you Edelweiss for the advanced ebook.

If you are familiar with Fablehaven or Dragons watch than this book is for you. The two funny, always making a deal, and love their plush abode satyrs, Newell and Doran. However, it seems they might be growing up and becoming adults, which they really do not want to do. But they have to help save the good people (?) in Fablehaven sanctuary.
I am not going to go any farther you will have to read it yourself. But if you are on team Newell and Doran you are going to love this action packed, suspenseful book.

We were SO excited to see some side characters from Fablehaven get their own story!! They were such fun characters in the other series, and it was even more fun to see them here. My son was absolutely giddy that he got to read this before most of the world.

It was fun to also see the return of so many other characters from Fablehaven. The problems that Newel and Doren had to solve were so cool, and made this one amazing story. We were able to learn a lot more through these problems that we didn’t know before. We also loved the creatures that were brand new to this story.

Buddy reading this with my girls in preparation to meet Brandon Mull at a book signing soon!

We are all huge Brandon Mull fans and have read his series multiple times through. Special shoutout to my favorite, Beyonders! Fablehaven is also a fav so it was fun to revisit that world and these characters. There’s lots of little Easter eggs that fans will enjoy.

This book is definitely aimed at a younger audience but there is always enough humor to keep adults entertained too.

I think you could read this as a standalone. But it does include some spoilers for Fablehaven and especially Dragon Watch. But the casual reader might not notice.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. The Fablehaven series is one of my favorites and this one didn’t disappoint! I like how Newel and Doren get to have their own adventures and grow up along the way. Tess and Knox are also along for adventure. Another fun read by Brandon Mull!

#TheGorgansFury #NetGalley

What a fun new series that links both the Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series.
Newell and Doron are satyr cousins who are trying to win the satyr games. When they have to come up with the best prank as the end game, they notice strange things are happening at Fablehaven. They are on a mission to find out how to stop the groagon's fury and end her destruction.

I am a Brandon Mull super fan, and adore all of his books. This one in particular, I could not rate as high as five stars, but did not want to go as low as three.

In this fun tail, we followed the two seaters that we meet in Brandon’s previous series Fablehaven. These two go on an adventure to take down a Gorgon that has escaped her prison on the magical preserve.

There’s nothing particularly stand out about this book, which is why I couldn’t give it five stars, but I couldn’t get three, simply because Brandon does an amazing job at portraying death to an immortal. There is a particular scene where an immortal character is confronted with mortality, and I thought he did it in a very well spoken , imaginative way. He has a real knack for injecting spirituality into his fantasy tales, and I absolutely adore that.

I wouldn’t say this is a “Must Read” but it is a good time nonetheless.

This is the first in a fun new series about Newel and Doren, comedic satyrs from the Fablehaven realm. It was fun to get to know them a little more and watch them become begrudging heroes! I really enjoyed this and recommend it to any reader!
