Jago Torres a.k.a. grim reaper/the butcher is the brutal and vicious crime lord of the Torres Cartel. The next day after her father's death Jago send and invitation to Genevieve to discuss business at his home which she accepted. When they came face-to-face with each other the two were shocked. He couldn't believed that it was the same girl that he had kissed by the bathroom was now Madame Morales, drug lord. Jago offers to buy all her father's businesses and territory for fifty million dollars and tell her that she could keep the house. The thing is her father's businesses is worth ten times more than that. She laughed at him then walked away but before she leaves the showed him that she wasn't a push over and that she was Julio Morales daughter the two fought and rolling on the floor. But he was surprised when she pulled out a knife from her sheath and held it against his throat and even managed to nick him two times then licked the blood off the knife.
This turned him on even more and he was impressed with her because she has managed to get a knife inside past his guys, when they wasn't any weapon allowed. She won that round of their tango. Jago was intrigued by her business smart, fierceness, sass and strength. But he vowed that he wouldn't let her win the second round. When Genevieve attack one of warehouse he wasn't going to let it go unchecked and kidnapped her brother at her father's funeral as leverage forcing to leave with him. He apologized to her for the pitiful offer he made her and tell her that he wanted an alliance with her to keep the wolves out. Because the Turks and Moroccans were teaming up which for them both. She agreed grudgingly but only if he release her brother. He did but tells her that she was spending the night with him. He then strip her and lay her across his desk and spank her with a cane as punishment for trying to kill him. They had a night and morning filled with passion.
Jago thought that he could continually use her whenever he wanted but she was different from everyone else. Genevieve has met her match in business and in pleasure.The Moroccans and Turkish were trying to kill him. And eventually they went after her and repeatedly tried to kill her.
When the Turks breached her house killing some of her man she was scared and called Jago to help. While they were attacking her the Moroccans attacked his warehouse. Jago went to help but afterwards he then took her to his castle for protection. Because he knew that she wasn't safe at her house. But he knew once he got her under his roof that she wasn't leaving she was now his possession. Jago has had a rough upbringing riddle with abuse at the hands of his father. He has also experienced a lot of loss, between the beatings and the loss it shaped his life. As they sheltered in place he finds that he can't seems to stay away from her and would go to her room every night.
Genevieve can't seems to stop herself gets arose every time Jago walks into a room. Jago started developing feelings for her and know that in order to better protect her they needed to get marry. The two get married and merge their businesses and territory together fifty-fifty. Jago became terrorial and jealous when anyone gets next to her. Although Jago is vicious and brutal he has a soft side when it comes to her. They fought the bad guys together, bickered with each other about putting herself in danger but Jago realized that she was more valuable to them than he thought. They were able to find Julio's killer and the traitor in their organization. They weren't looking to fall in love but they couldn't help their intense attraction. She was his ying to his yang. His light to his darkness. And he would burn the world down to protect her and keep anyone from taking her away from him. This book demands to be read and screamed escape from the everyday life and gave that something extra that you craved and never knew that you craved and needed.
