When Jack Merrill becomes earl Haddington inheriting not only a title but the devastating debt that came with it, his friends convince him that there is nothing for it but to gain quick wealth the really old fashioned way…marry into it!

On the hunt for a wealthy bride, Jack stumbles upon Kitty Hayes, the sister of his former target Evelyn. To him, Kitty is everything Eve was not to him – full of a fire and spirit that challenges him but also everything Eve was as well – a wealthy heiress. But Kitty is a married woman! Can he wait it out until she finds her freedom while reeling her in with friendship and seduction so that he might cast his net about the wealthy heiress the moment her divorce is final?

After years of marriage with an abusive husband, Kitty Hayes flees Boston hoping to find protection and anonymity with her sister, Eve MacKintosh, now countess Glenrothes in Scotland, while she petitions for a divorce from the man who has made her life a living hell. Mistaken for her sister, Kitty encounters Jack Merrill who seeks friendship, he claims, but Kitty knows what he is hoping for!

Certain that she will never marry again and certainly not expecting such a thing from an inveterate womanizer like Jack Merrill, Kitty negotiates a deal with Jack that if he can wait until her divorce is complete, she will give him the money he desires if in return he becomes her lover! Seeing everything he desires falling into place, Jack agrees to a bargain that is to him a complete win/win scenario that leaves him free of dreaded matrimony.

But when Kitty’s life is threatened by her former husband and their 'bargain' suddenly becomes much more complicated, can Jack just stand aside and let this woman walk out of his life forever?

Sizzling!

I read the first book of the series & just had to have this book too! They are spicier than I normally read, but the passion and the emotions are so well done that I feel that they are tasteful.

Kitty & Jack are instantly friends, getting along beautifully. There is a passionate attraction as well. This book has it all. There is the love and passion, fear and strength, along with drama, murder, and kidnapping. Throughout are incredible quotes from various authors and a rich history.

Even if you are not normally a reader of spicy books, I encourage you to read this book and the first. The first sets various characters & their history in place, bringing a deeper knowledge of them. I highly recommend this book to you.

The book really NEEDS proofreading!! It's difficult to go through all the typos, repeated or missed words and grammar errors to get to the story.

Rake, Jack Merrill Earl of Haddington will find the perfect women in Kitty that he has long to find but what will he sacrifice to save his burdens of the run down estates he inherited from his dead father and older brother....what will Kitty gain or loss into her feeling for a Rake?

The American Heroine

Is so well suited to the times and place. The absolute control that a husband had was scary. Using the Breakers (renamed) brought to story so to life for me. The super thick headed, stubborn Scott was was slow to become a hero.

Enchanting

A delightful story of a woman who let her own fire and strength extinguish to protect her family, an enchanting climb out of her shell driven by passion.

After reading the first book in the series about Eva, I was anxious to read this one about her sister, Kitty. It did not disapoint. The children in the story added so much.

Oh god! As another reviewer has mentioned, this novel should never have seen the light of the day without a good proofreader. It is a headache muddling through all the mistakes while trying to read.

About the novel, it is based on the similar lines of Sleeping with the Enemy. A prolonged ending is a bit annoying but perhaps necessary for the plot. Not something I enjoyed, however. I do have the others in the series but I'm questioning whether I should be reading them.

I thought the story was good; however, I did think the end was a little long, with does he/she love me. But a good story with lots of background information. If you have read the first book "A Question of Love" then you will read more about Francis and Eve. There will be more of their story also, in this book.

I love this book!! Kitty turns into such a strong woman after what she went thru with her first husband. I like she takes control of her own destiny. Jack is funny, charming, and a womanizer. He helps bring her out of her shell. He learns how to love and be loved. I love this book the best. It has action, love, sorrow, and the quotes are fun. Highly recommend whole series.

Five stars!

I loved this story. I loved how jack could get Katherine to love and trust again, and how Katherine could get jack to know what love is. Also, I absolutely love the friendships and family that are portrayed. I am going to read the last book now.

A nice light historical romance romp. The series of 3 novels helps to round out the characters.

Pretty good. Loved the story but did not like the overlap in stories from the first book. I hate when a author does that other than that loved the story!

sometimes I find the heroes just a bit too obtuse.
